Is the major Gay /a/?
According to the manga, she's bi.
It's not gay if they're all robots.
Do we know that she was a woman before cyborg?
Anyways, she's a lesbo and that's okay
What about that kid she offered herself to?
Fuck that kid
I really want to murder that kid right now
She fucks whatever strikes her fancy.
The pain and outrage at that betrayal still stings like a motherfucker.
Don't we all?
if the major has sex with one of the other bodies that she controls is it considered masturbation?
There is no hell deep and fiery enough for this little shit. It's like somebody offered him a million dollars and he said "nah, I'm good."
Some people just don't deserve to live.
That is some deep thoughts anon
How come Tachikoma dead but this little faggit not!
>Do we know that she was a woman before cyborg?
Yes, watch Second GiG
the major is high speed low drag, that trigger discipline, 10/10 would operate with and that is all you need to know.
And in the Arise, she's born Cyborg
>gee whiz fuck yes
2nd GiG flashback is about her childhood, she wasn't a cyborg.
Are you Major gay?
Or are you gay for the Major?
How does that work?
Major gay for gay Major.
When a mommy human and daddy toaster love each other VERY much...
Her fetus was augmented.
I still find it mildly ridiculous how well SAC has aged. Seriously, it's almost unbelievable that this screencap is from a relatively insignificant episode of a multi-cour TV anime that's ten years old.
She has loli, teenage female, adult female and male bodies she can use and put her mind into, plus in net she's having a lesbo show with friends...
She's pansexual doing all combinations, het as woman or a guy, yuri and yaoi.
yes majority of /a/ is gay
yes including mey
Looks thousands times better than most of this season works.
Was her vision augmented?
Wow you're right. Now that's fucking quality
How is 2nd GiG? I've only seen the first season and the first two movies.
Well SAC and Arise is in different universe
In SAC she is a little girl before she goes full Cyborg
Her parents didn't survive an accident so they take out the brain fetus a put in a cyborg or something like that
It's as good as first gig man, maybe better IDK. As long as we're not talking about the filthy spin off it's all good
2nd GIG is the best GITS anything.
>Well SAC and Arise is in different universe
>In SAC she is a little girl before she goes full Cyborg
I think I have missed the detail where she said that. Thanks for pointing out.
How is Arise, anyway?
Just watch it faggot. You have no excuse.
Batou is one glorious motherfucker
This scene is ten years old?
>I think I have missed the detail where she said that.
I... What? There's an entire episode about it in 2nd GIG and it's mentioned like eight times outside of that between the two seasons.
It's a GitS alright but somehow the feeling is not the same. The characters feel bland so far. Guess it's just ok.
And it's also referenced in the OP of the first season. Her crushing a doll with her new hands, I mean.
I was talking of the fact she was born as cyborg in ARISE and she didn't get her body later like in 2nd GiG.
Mmm how do I say this, if 2nd GIG is classified as Great than Arise is alright
I don't think anyone remember the OP from the first season
Yeah it was pretty short explanation, it was at this scene >>100770969
Batou is the hardest motherfucker ever
The first season OP is my favourite
Why not? It was fantastic. The CG and song. I still have it stuck in my head to this day.
How can one forget that glorious OP. I listen the "Inner Universe" track to this day.
Dude, I saw this in 2012 and I swore, at that time, that I was watching an anime from 2010/11 or something.
>MFW I realized this was from 2003/2006
When you go to the bathroom remember Batou
Objection. No one can forget Inner Universe
Aeria gloris, aeria gloris
The soundtrack for SAC 1 and 2 are definitely Yoko's best:
Right seems I'm rather alone in the though of
>I don't like this OP all that much
Besides the Russian in the beginning
>This scene is ten years old?
9 years 6 months depending on how you want to count it (it aired in July of '04 but SAC spent a lot of time in production) so I rounded up a little.
Pic related, on the other hand, aired January 1 of '04 so it's ten years old no matter how you slice it.
My favourite song wasn't even on the soundtrack for some reason
and yess its looks better than most of the shows in cyckle
I love how's Batou roll
Didn't they have a lesbian orgy in the manga or something?
Yeah, but it's just a giant two-page colored panel. It's like a fold-out that doesn't fold out.
My thought is exactly like this guy >>100771212
All hail I.G
Come to think of it, is there ANY show that's held up as well as SAC has across the board?
Finally got around to watching Ghost Whispers a couple of days ago
This things design was fucking sick
Inner Universe was a top tier opening.
No I don't think so
Even the dub is top quality
And Living Inside the Shell is god-tier ED
I love Ilaria Graziano's voice so much, it's so beautiful. Wish she had more work with Kanno.
90s OVAs will never stop looking good, if you count those as shows.
Leave the kid alone. That asshole, Batou, cockblocked him.
OVAs don't count.
There's a trend in anime to simply be advertising for the LN/Manga.
So most anime never get an ending, let alone be good.
Sasuga Production IG.
How can we all forget this song either?
No there are moments in life when sex comes before life itself
I don't know about japanese animation work ethic but GITS aired two episodes on the first day of every month for a year
I don't know if they work on episodes prior to their airing, or if all content is completed beforehand and aired consecutively. But if its the former they had so much time to work on this stuff and IG was probably given so much damn money that it's OVA quality
Hence why SAC looks just as good as Arise does (with technology from the time obviously)
Run Rabbit Junk is in the OST 1
>major gave me fetish for strong women
>tfw they don't exist in 3D
A shame she's such a boring character. The show needs to be about Batou, and whenever Batou isn't on screen all the characters should be saying "Where's Batou?"
Strong women are the best. Bonus points if they can insult anyone without a shame in the world
There's your problem right there.
It looks so happy
Still counts as a TV series. One with a shit-ton of time and money poured into it, but a TV series nonetheless.
and so is mine. the none-rock version of"i cant be cool!" it plays in the first episode osac 2 when she jumps backwards from the building. fuck. i even tried looking on in that unofficial ost thing. still not there
The "strongest" you're going to get is SJWs. Sorry.
That episode with the cute tachikoma and the girl was great, well until they ruined it by having the second half be about the Major and a real human bean
>That episode with the cute tachikoma
>Not remembering it was Batous Tachikoma
I don't want to remember, it makes me feel sad.
Why did she always shit on Batou?
>Hey Major, want to go see a movie?
>No thanks faggot, if I want to see a movie I see it alone, otherwise I don't see it at all.
>T-that m-makes sense...
>Lusty Tachikoma maid
>My own keg of beer, a LAW and a talking robot sidekick; life is good.
>sexualising the tachikomas
Major was a massive bitch who only cared about being a stripper
The Jameson waterbucket makes me sad, yet smile at the same time
>yfw the first time you saw this scene.
>that one fucking episode where androids were commiting suicides because some neet wanted his waifu to be unique
>all the girls are Tachikoma
>MC can have only one as a partner
>MC is Batou
Make it happen
>Scream from the bottom of his heart MOTOKOOO~
>Next episode: Surprise faggot I'm still alive
>And then Section9 laughing their ass off to him
Yeah she's an ass
I really need to get around to watching the second arise episode, is it any good?
I remember the autism episode.
I actually really, really love that one for some odd reason. Maybe because I can relate to it, being the chemically unbalanced SOB that I am?
Who whole team are asses in that scene
>you will never operate this hard
I wanted him to get some clang clang so bad, but the show always crushed my dreams.
He is a big guy
He can take it
But he can't get drunk.
He also can't get any positive effect from weight-training gear and cyborgs don't have to eat if they don't feel like it; what's your point?
So isn't this just Index with Touma, Mikoto and her clones?
>HA HA HA YOU CRIED. FAGGOT.
>She fucking wedgies him in front of everyone then wet willies him.
>Aramaki fires him on the spot.
They do have to eat, strange cyborg food(that's full of micromachines), they just don't have to eat much.
Strong men also cry.
Even better, means he can drink on until his heart content
Batou has a really shit life, doesn't he?
are you implying you need to be able to get drunk to enjoy a beer?
That's a blu-ray rip. It does look good, but still... just pointing that out.
>Why do they want to eat? It's not like they need to. Why do they want to eat? They don't need to!
Well no sane man would be drinking it for the taste.
>They do have to eat, strange cyborg food(that's full of micromachines), they just don't have to eat much.
That depends on how much of their body has been replaced.
Batou had a hard life
>The Major replaces his detachable eyes with small toilet pucks.
He wouldn't want it any other way. He thrives off of that longing.
can we just stop assuming two girls are always gay for each other?
how about that?
Is this a joke?
She's maybe asshole, but look who's winning her
> Che Guevara: Do you have someone that you can open yourself up to?
> Major : I suppose I do?
> Change scene to Batou lift cross steel
You drink beer because it tastes good. If you're drinking to get drunk, you're doing it wrong.
I think there might be a truth in that
I drank a non alcoholic Carlsberg once and I had trouble drinking all of that
Its good to see an anime realistically depicting Asian women.
>Change scene to Makoto making Batou punch himself in the face.
>Makoto making Batou punch himself in the face.
How did she make him do that?
Major hack Batou
She hacked him because she was too chicken to fist fight.
>Returns to his apartment complex
>Its penis inspection day
>Awkwardly explains to the cute police officer that he's smooth down there.
>She and her partner share a chuckle.
>Batou is homeless because he failed Penis inspection day.
>Sitting on the street shivering in the rain.
>The major drives past him, she stops momentarily.
>Keeps driving, u-turns and drives back.
>Drives over a huge puddle, splashing him.
>Then just straight up runs him over.
oh that explains it
She was making a point that she didn't need to improve strength to beat him.
She was bein' a bitch nigga. Makoto a shit.
>Batou broken in the street
>desperately trying to get back up
>Major gets out of her car
>pushes him into a puddle then drives off
>this fucking tank
I mean its kind of hard not to assume when you see a girl get out of bed after a girl only threesome
>His blood hound ambles over and pisses on him.
And as >>100771403
pointed out, lesbian orgy
Speaking of which I'm going to need that page
>She adopts his dog
>The dog likes her much more than him
>They play and cuddle when he's around
>"Hora hora, dog-kun. You're so bold and masculine~"
Too fucking far.
>this fucking animation
Could Jensen do where Batou failed?
>this fucking sound
>Batou sits on the bench, broken arms and legs preventing him from getting up.
>Watches as they play fetch all day, laughing and barking.
>Eventually she's rolling around with the dog.
>Batou cries a single tear.
>Then a bus falls on him.
>This team up
Whats the connection? I mean....why?
I think its because of deus desu, or something like that.
I get a vexed watching Poker Face. I'm not asking for solely positive depictions of Americans, but this just felt like it was in bad taste. Though, that might be explained by it being Saito's spin.
So where are these from?
That's so lame that I laughed
You're going to kick yourself its the script for the episode
I got this shit
She's incredible math.
Every single episode has the setting or script written on the left
Did you honestly never notice?
TRY TO STEAL THE SCENE? CAN'T HAVE THAT!
Saito is a bad guy in Arise?
Anyone care to tell me which series this is from?
That episode looks particularly good for some reason, the closeups of the major are fucking great
The augged out hackers on steroids of the future don't have time to use all the letters in their words.
He's just a greedy dick that betrays them. At the end of the episode he's forced to work for Makoto or go to jail.
He's just highly influenced by money
Ishikawa was also a member of Batou's ranger unit in Arise
I wont describe the plot, but they're not 'bad'
I want to see Jensen NTR Batou.
>It's like somebody offered him a million dollars and he said "nah, I'm good."
I remember how i was surprised and disappointed to find that they have lesbian orgies in manga. I thought that was one of those rare things in anime that doesn't rely on the viewer's dick, but no, that was just an unfaithful adaptation.
Fuck still can't believe this is animation from ten years ago
I like this guy.
Downloading bow. Thanks
>At the end of the episode he's forced to work for Makoto or go to jail.
He survived being blown up in the air?
Just incredible math
You mean twelve ?
>He is Jewish
>The award honors his solving of the Poincare (pwan-kah-RAY) conjecture, which deals with shapes that exist in four or more dimensions.
Dear God Polandball was right
Would you want to be reborn into a steel body?
SAC from 2002
Damn you're right
>surprised and disappointed
go back to /co/ you piece of shit
So long as it came with a button to give my brain an orgasm.
>Is the major Gay /a/?
This is from the original source material, the original manga, but she also mentions boyfriends later on, though apparently she doesn't keep them for long.
Personally I've always found the major completely unlikable in every iteration except the Oshii movie, and that's only because she's completely devoid of personality.
In SAC she can at least separate work and pleasure, unless underage boys are involved, but in the manga she's skipping work to have lesbian orgies.
The only reason she's so powerful is because the engineers made her that way, and the only reason she still has her job is because powerful people invested a lot of money on her and need to justify the cost.
/co/ loves lesbians more than /a/ though
>Being disappointed with lesbian orgies
No we don't
Depends on what kind of body it is and what conditions come with it
The manga really is the worst incarnation. It's good that the author now just draws chicks being raped.
As I recall she engages in a type of online sex where you share your experiences with your partner while the two of you are having sex and if you have sex with someone that way and they have organs you don't have (ie, a penis) then they'll send you information directly into your brain that can cause brain damage so in order to enjoy such sex you can only have homosexual relationships.
Wow....the things you could get away with once
>but in the manga she's skipping work to have lesbian orgies
I really need to read the manga
>Greentext Story: The Episode
That episode really is the worse. So much fucking beta taxi driver. It kills me.
>someone that way and they have organs you don't have (ie, a penis) then they'll send you information directly into your brain that can cause brain damage so
So they are literary fucking their brains out?
It's almost a shame he only draws porn now, Appleseed was pretty good.
It's from GITS 2
Not SSS or the abridged SAC films
I too seem to have a reason to read it. Very good reason.
Just make sure to read it online, 90% of English published copies are censored.
Better Oshii film coming through.
/b/ in charge writing story
Why does the robot have a shotgun
I don't think you understand how lesbian orgies work. You don't just throw in a lesbian orgy. You don't just put a lesbian orgy in when they celebrate Lelouch's death. You don't put a lesbian orgy in when Kira is testing the limits of death note mind control. You don't put a lesbian orgy in the first day Shiki arrives at his mansion. You may want to, though.
Fuck he even tried to get some plot points across during that orgy, that's not how it's supposed to work.
>asking why it has a shotgun.
>not asking why it has pants.
Because he's a cop
I didn't notice it had pants
So why does it have pants?
>You don't just put a lesbian orgy in when they celebrate Lelouch's death
Suddenly I see S2 improving by a mile
>. You don't put a lesbian orgy in when Kira is testing the limits of death note mind control
With the lack of female cast that series has of course you don't
>Not watching the episode where Light killed someone with a lesbian orgy.
So it doesn't catch a cold.
>So why does it have pants?
Realistically? So shit doesn't get into the leg mechanism as easily.
But robots don't catch colds
Why didn't the major wear pants in season 1 half of the time?
When you have a body that great what can you do other then showing it off?
Also a cyborg
What's really funny is that one episode where she doesn't wear the little vest or whatever, and Aramaki is like "Are you trying to seduce me?"
Bitch runs around with no fucking pants on and then you ask her that?
In all fairness this is what she was wearing at the time >>100771462
aramaki is GOAT
That is not appropriate policing attire. Even if you do have a rocking body.
>That is not appropriate policing attire
Which is why she only uses it inside the HQ
That'd feel weird to come across a cop likke that
They're not really police though, they're basically secret service mixed with SWAT or something.
Besides, she puts on clothes when they're actually on missions
It's not appropriate for the workplace either. I'm pulling your section's funding, again, for the ninth time this year.
Well good luck catching the Laughing man then
Wasn't it Togusa who was mostly responsible for catching the laughing man?
And how can Togusa catch him without the proper funding?
that episode was full of plot twists and turns
Probably in my top 10 favorites.
so is it possible that she's a straight man with her mind implanted into a female body or is that out of the question?
that's what I always assumed the case was, she acts like a guy with tits most of the time.
shes a girl who had a horrible planecrash
think it was at 10 or something
so she never really got to explore being female
I don't know
Best song. Best episode.
Fuck off with your tumblr theories.
Where the hell was this page? I don't remember this
I don't ever remember this playing. Does anyone know the episode and context?
Not when he has no eyes
>GitS will never get another decent video game
That's why GITS has the first movie and SAC, while all of Appleseed's adaptations have been garbage 3D or a shitty OVA
Because GITS was mediocre in manga form, it got some great adaptations
Because Appleseed was great in manga form, it got mediocre adaptations
Is it weird that i cried a little at the tachikoma fighting scene in the forest?
its cyberpunk, all women are cyber sluts
No because I do too ;_;
no, perfectly normal
i teared up abit during that episode with the professional boxer turned spy
cyborgs can get drunk in the GiTS universe; they can however choose to instantly sober up.
cyborgs do eat.
in SAC the Major was augmented at a very young age due to a plane wreck, requiring many refits as she got older. She was one of the first 'full-body prosthetic users', along with a boy that she survived the wreck with.
In Arise the major was saved, as a fetus, by an experimental procedure due to the death of her mother in an accident. The experiment was very costly, and as such the major has had to live on the whims of the government groups that paid for it as a guinea pig and indentured servant.
Also, the major is not just the sum of the money invested in her; since the 2501 encounter she gained access to networks which had been breached by a rogue AI. Arguably, no amount of money could have endowed her with such knowledge.
So in both universe Major have same reason to "Work for government to pay this full cyborg body?"
he never fully recovered from that earthquake did he?
Has it ever been stated how long she been working for the government? Because I imagine her job is one of the most well payed job there is
It would probably all go back into paying for her body, a super high tech cyborg would cost a lot of money
And no doubt they would claim interest on it or something so that she would have to keep working for them for perpetuity
I think not. The farthest flashback in SAC maybe when she drag Saito into her team, she's already an elite force back there
>inb4 loli Major flashback
However, in one universe she is independently wealthy; she works for the government as a means to get access to top secret and non-civilian parts and equipment. In the movie she mentions that if she were to quit, which is an option technically, she'd have to relinquish the rights to her restricted equipment
I'm gay for her.
I don't think it's just a matter of paying for it, in the manga she says something about one of the perks of working for the government is the access to body mods that are illegal for civilian ownership (namely some of the super sensitivity shit she uses for sex).
Remember Major have a luxury mansion and a shitload of personal weapon
She's rich girl, in SAC maybe all her bill is payed up. So she still work for government because she loves her job
Her body is government property, her salary does not go to paying for it because she never asked for it in the first place. She'd need to get a civilian spec body if she wants to stop working though.
What? Which episode is this, I call shenanigans.
Read the filename anon
Their deaths were meaningful until they kept bringing them back
the first or second episode of Arise. It is narrated over a montage of a woman involved in a traffic accident on a freeway from an overhead perspective. It is presumably her mother.
Not true. In the movie she says that she and Batou would have to relinquish their memories if they chose to resign. It's not just their parts
"We do have the right to resign if we choose, provided we give the government back the shells they provided, and the memories they contain. There wouldn't be much left after that."
> and the memories they contain
That makes it sound like the memories are part of the cybernetic body and *can't* be transferred, which we know is wrong because the Major switches bodies multiple times and doesn't lose her memories.
If she's saying they'd actively wipe her memories, that's different of course. Do know where in the movie that line takes place, so I can look it up?
She's probably saying they'd wipe their memories.
Can't have civilians run around with crucial and potentially -very- dangerous knowledge running around. Remember, this is a cyberpunk universe shown from the corps side.
>so is it possible that she's a straight man with her mind implanted into a female body or is that out of the question?
>that's what I always assumed the case was, she acts like a guy with tits most of the time.
In both the original Manga and the film universe, she has phantom period pain. (It was even her first line in the film.). Thus her brain is female biologically. In both TV universes she is known to be female as a child.
Just to add, I know you are trolling. No one is this retarded.
The major is bisexual, possibly pansexual. She's also a pedo, and once offered to screw a young boy.
>once offered to screw a young boy.
We know, we been over that discussion and reached the very imported conclusion that the boy is a faggot beyond faggots. That there is no hell deep enough for him and he deserves all the pain, suffering and hate live can throw at him
And the major shouldn't in any way be thought less of for offering sex to a child?
But she's incredible math.
>Her body is government property, her salary does not go to paying for it because she never asked for it in the first place. She'd need to get a civilian spec body if she wants to stop working though.
Although as the manga pointed out, the simple fact is she would likely swap her body for an untraceable black market one if she ever cut herself loose. She can't just walk out with a body that can have its origin tracked down. A new identity means a new body.
I see no problem
Sierra Nevada, my niggah. Have you tried the torpedoes?
>relatively insignificant episode
I figured it's just some teasing between friends because she does care for him, and that is the very reason why she turns him down. She knows.
I mention this in every thread that I catch, but I believe that Kamiyama may have been adamant about the design despite others thinking it not the best look.
You see, there was an old IG forum when SAC aired. If I am remembering correctly, there was even one poster who was actually working on the series and he said something along the line of others not approving of the design.
I bring this up because I'm hoping that there's one just one Anon who visited that board and can tell me if it's true or if I'm crazy and remembering it all wrong.
How is she so cool?
>She's incredible math
The torso reminds me of the Blizzard wanzer.
Whats a Blizzard wanzer?
I don't even remember this, was this in 2nd Gig?
He was always the bad guy, he took Pickle's life
maybe even omni-sexual, I mean, she even had sex with a program for christ sake
I love Curtan
technically her body is government property, so if she quits her job she'd have to settle for a different model
So I guess it really is unrelated to SAC
In SAC he was recruited by her on the battlefield right?
she shoots out his eye, nails his hand to a wall with a knife and orders him to join her (with the implication that it's either that or death)
if you call that recruiting, then yes
and in what episode of SAC does that happen?
Read this filename >>100773502
>cyborgs can get drunk in the GiTS universe
And people cite this as an example of "hard" sci-fi...
You saying she doesn't get you hard?
Why wouldn't they be able to get drunk? It's good for the economy, it lets them feel more human and depending on the organs that have been replaced it wouldn't even make sense that they couldn't get drunk anyway.
yeah but the author said that he only made it a lesbian orgy because he didn't want to draw a bunch of manbutts
She's literally perfect in every way, they didn't give her any flaws at all. She's pretty much a Mary Sue.
Like a Lithium Flower that's about to bloom
They have organic components, organic components are able to get drunk.
Because they have less organic components than a regular human, it might even stand to reason that they would be incredibly sensitive to alcohol. However if they have some sort of cyborg liver that can filter alcohol instantly then this would allow them to get drunk safely and even sober up instantly if they chose.
>making brains replicate the effects of alcohol is unrealistic
I'd say arise is the best adaptation because it makes the Major less of a Mary Sue but still keeps her reasonably badass.
Also the character designs for the rest of section nine are closer to the manga, and they have more intresting motivations.
>officially announced from the very beginning that Arise is the 4th GiTS continuity
>anons on /a/ think that SAC invented GiTS and think Arise is related to it
>2nd movie out
>there still are people on /a/ who think it is related to SAC
It's the same way with tons of people thinking the Oshii movies invented GitS, and that SAC was somehow connected to the Oshii movies.
This always happens.
So anyone actually like Innocence 2?
It's pretty pretentious at times, but the philosophy is still pretty sound, it has great action sequences and I felt feels I didn't want to feel watching Batou being lonely.
Oshii's movies did make GiTS most popular though, it's more understandable.
I laughed so hard of this shit.
What do you expect when people keep asking "How do I watch GiTS?"
Well it was pretty 2deep4me and Batou's psychotic outburst with the M249 shooting was really fucking stupid and seemed straight out of a macho '80s movie.
But it has some sort of an overall haunting charm nevertheless and especially the sequences involving combat against dolls are good. I have to rewatch it again for the philosophy part, I only remember Batou's dialog towards the end with the rescued girl about humans and robots each not wanting to become the other.
I mean at least Oshii tried to do something different, it somewehat worked.
I derped, my bad.
My favourite 2deep4me part was the old woman who asks Togusa why humans learned how to create synthetics and yet we chose to make not only human synthetics but also idealized synthetics, it was an interesting question.
>Batou's psychotic outburst with the M249 shooting was really fucking stupid and seemed straight out of a macho '80s movie.
I don't think it was psychotic, it's true he'd have never done that with the Major around but he's pretty much 'Ain't got time for this shit' at that point.
And I thought "I tried" was pretty funny.
"You will not find a corpse, because I have never possessed a body"
GOAT scene in Anime.
"I tried" was indeed funny, but I found Aramaki's "debrief" saying that with all that shooting only 2 people or so had died was unintentionally funnier.
And you're right it's not exactly "psychotic". Batou executing the mech driver at the finale of 1st GiG was psychotic and very out of character and watching Innocence after 1st gig instantly reminded me of that scene. Still a bit weird for me even with the muh depression subtext.
On the flipside, Batou going haywire in the market was very good.
Also this dog was 2deep.
That fucking hacking scene, man.
Also, the movie touched greatly upon why I think Dolls are creepy, not sure why we need a movie to detail that but okay.
I suppose it links to the ideas of synthetic humans...
>Batou executing the mech driver at the finale of 1st GiG was psychotic and very out of character
First and foremost, Section 9 kills people. This never changed. And they kill people where they had permission or not. This is most prominent in 2nd GiG when they organised an assassination via a car accident, and then had the car they used destroyed. Togusa is the only one in the group who has issues with cold blooded murder.
>"And can you offer proof of your own existence? How can you? When neither modern philosophy or science can define what life IS"
Can you refute this, /a/?
>Batou executing the mech driver at the finale of 1st GiG
The one in the Major's apartment, with the double tap to the head?
I felt sorry for him, I want to say Batou could have KOed him in that position but Cyborgs are tenacious and they did attack him first...
They didn't kill those guys.
Just hurt them badly.
Though I'm sure they wouldn't have shed any tears for them if they had been killed.
Everyone with a tenth of a functioning brain knows she was just messing with him.
Of course, this is /a/, and everyone here knows from the bottom of their soul that she honestly truly, genuinely wanted to have sex with a child.
Fuck the manga.
>Everyone with a tenth of a functioning brain knows she was just messing with him.
So what if he said yes?
She's a good judge of character, knew the kid was too chicken to go through with it.
If he'd said yes she'd have been caught off-guard, but I doubt she'd fuck him just for calling her bluff.
They were both professional soldiers, members of black bag units so deep the world would never know either of them ever existed.
That's just how it goes, on what's literally a battlefield, in the middle of a fight.
It was nothing personal, and whether it was psychotic or not is an argument one would have to make for all professional soldiers doing professional soldiers shit.
This song is damn good
Let me clarify.
'Fuck the manga having some sort of status that suggests it should be adhered to as a standard of quality in the GitS franchise.'
I have nothing against the manga per se, but it's not fucking gospel.
What he said. Do you think Motoko is so insecure that she would feel like she had to do anything whatsoever with the kid if she didn't feel like it?
She isn't from /a/, never having had a real human relationship in her life and unable to relate to her peers, seeking refuge in underaged children.
Not that guy, and I wouldn't say "fuck the Manga", but GitS is one of the greatest examples of adaptations outshining the original in my opinion.
So any aspects of Arise apparently being closer to the Manga shouldn't be taken seriously as pros.
Oh, I fully support Batou's position to kill and not maim/knockout, I still feel sorry for the guy though.
It's not easy when you can see their face
It was running back then on MTV in germany.
I know, for a start she can't do anything meaningful (that answers his question anyway) without crushing him to death (I think, the bed she was on seemed to support her weight pretty fine) and I doubt he could do anything she'd feel.
But if he said yes...I guess she'd out-smartass him back.
I don't like that backstory. The thing I love the most about the Major, especially in the first film, is how she progressively got more and more mechanical. It's a cool idea you can really play around with in terms of characterisation.
Sure he did
I know that S9 has licence to kill, but I prefer Oshii's handling of it better. SAC had way, way too many firefights, and they were lame as shit as they basically constituted of S9 operatives running around shooting from the hip and their enemies dropping like flies. Then you also have Ishikawa bombing a whole group of Umibozu just because. And in 2nd GiG the whole "oh shit the refugees are armed let's shoot them wait lel turns out they weren't oh well shouganai" episode was embarrassing. In the first GiTS movie the Major and Batou dealt with enemies differently rather than just killing with impunity. And the firefights were extremely well done, very far from run and gun. The SAC series overindulged in killing, that's something that has to be recognized. But still the characters would generally shoot in order to advance towards somewhere or to assassinate.
With that in mind, what Batou did in that 1st GiG episode is unrelated to S9's nature. He first hacks the mech driver's eyes, lures him outside, then goes behind him and tells him that he got rused, then blows his brains out, and then throws a grenade at the mech and makes it explode. If he went ahead and stole the mech it'd be much more understandable, but he didn't. He could simply have went away once he did the hacking, but instead the writers went full edge and put in an execution scene. This behaviour is pretty much what "villain" characters do, not the "heroic" ones. And for all of S9's ambiguity, we're always given very heavy arguments about how they're always on the better side at the end, so they ARE the heroes.
I mean this is just a minor point in the series (if you discount all the shooting), but there was a certain sensibility to the subject in Oshii's movie (same with Jin-Roh) and I've been disappointed that the same was not displayed in the series.
Batou didn't get any pleasure from it whatsoever. He was just doing what he's been trained to do for his entire adult life.
There literally was nothing personal about it, except, perhaps, a sense of respect for the guy as a fellow professional.
(I mean, I, personally, felt pretty shaken by it, myself, but then, I'm not a professional soldier.)
I like her insecurity over the fact that she's slightly paranoid about her origins, like if she lost that Watch she'd forget it completely over the course of the next few upgrades and end up with no definite proof she was ever a human.
She has incredibly sensitive skin, and there's no evidence that Cyborgs in the SAC universe are incredibly heavy.
The Paralympic boxer from that Batou episode would've had to be mostly prosthetic to stand toe to toe with Batou in a fight, and his weight is shown during the episode, it's what you'd expect for a regular man his size.
Hell, SAC still looks so great. I really have to get around rewatching it someday in the close future. Rewatched the movie not too long ago, I liked it a lot more the 2nd time.
>I know that S9 has licence to kill, but I prefer Oshii's handling of it better. SAC had way, way too many firefights
In a sense, I agree, they were always said to excel at information warfare, but I think they build up the crew as having sufficient military background for the shooting scenes.
Also, despite the frequency of the shooting scenes, they always felt tactical and more considered, nothing like, say, Black Lagoon where Revy stands out in the open and guns down 20 guys.
>The puppet master
Huh, I could have sworn that the laughing man was the "villain" in the first film
It's almost as if it had a pretty huge budget compared to most other anime.
I think you're misinterpreting things here slightly.
These are murderdeathkillmachine power suits that Batou has 0 chance against actually fighting or trying to run. He has to be creative if he's going to survive.
And he's going to have to play for keeps. These guys are there to kill him, they're super elite soldiers, they're just as good at their job as he is, and if he pulls his punches in the slightest, he's dead synthetic meat.
He was apologizing to the power suit pilot for having tricked him. Because no professional soldier likes to know he's been outwitted in combat. He could have just killed him, but Batou's level of sentimentality has been a running theme through the entire series up to that point.
He should have just killed him, tossed the grenade, and kept moving. But he paused that second or so to apologize first. Sure, he shot the guy, like he had to (you can't leave an extremely dangerous enemy behind you in the middle of a fight), but he took a little longer than he should have.
And he was punished for this by the guy's partner.
The black ops guys were following what they believed to be completely legitimate orders from the legitimate government of their nation. Batou was trying to stay ahead of a hit squad sent to take him and his friends out by a corrupt politician attempting to destroy Section 9 for his own gain.
They were both right, and both doing the right thing. There was no good guy and no bad guy, no villain and no hero there.
You get that, right?
>stand toe to toe with Batou in a fight
...but Anon, he was never able to stand toe to toe with Batou at any point in the entire episode. Batou was seriously holding back the entire time, until the very end. He got caught off guard the first time, but he was seriously holding back there, too. One little trick doesn't make it an even fight.
I'm fairly sure the Paralympic boxer was only, like, 30% or so prosthetic, at most.
>He got caught off guard the first time,
No he didn't. He let the guy win
I hated them until that moment. They died beautiful.
Best part is Batou accidentally joining in. It is a bad thing that in the manga sex is not compatible for malexfemale because the receivers do not match. Batou enters and only gets pain whereas Motoko and the other girls basically share the same pleasure.
Well, he seemed to genuinely lose consciousness. But yes, I'm fairly sure he did let the guy win.
>That feel when the Major, their biggest critic, gave them the strength to fight on when they were down
>"Oh God, we're weak, and powerless..."
>"That's not true, what you and the others have gained, makes you far from powerless"
So I have watched bits and pieces of Ghost in the Shell on adult swim when I was younger but never really finished the series. What order do I watch this show in? I know it sounds like a dumb question.
First GIG then second GIG.
SAC, then 2nd GiG.
Well you have the movies but they are non canon to the tv series. Still a good watch though, they are some of my favourite films.
You have GITS SAC which you start with, then SAC 2nd GIG, then the OVA Solid State Society.
You now have GITS Arise but it is basically a different uptake to the story so also non canon to SAC.
Watch the first movie then the second obviously but they are not related to the series.
>that kid she offered herself to?
When I first watched that I was, like, thiiiiisssss close to punching my wall.
Jesus fucking Christ he was infuriating
But he always turns down the short haired tomboy who is objectively the best girl.
I'm aware he was never actually better than Batou.
But in the final fight, Batou punches him into a railing and it bends from the impact, the man then recovers instantly and does a humanly impossible backflip.
He was likely heavily cyberised, and a man with a heavy build, Motoko is fully prosthetic, but comparitively sleek and short, even if she weighs more than a woman her size normally would, the SAC series never shows anything to indicate that the difference is anything like "she'd crush you".
Though she could crush you with her strength, if she wanted.
I recognize the points you're addressing, but it doesn't cover everything.
For example, he could have just bombed the mech. The pilot on his own is completely harmless against Batou who was planning to run away from the scene anyway. So knocking the guy out, bombing his robot and running away would be a perfectly valid course of action, there's no logical reason why he didn't do it.
Yes the Umibozu were shown as following legitimate orders, so as you say were not wrong compared to S9. Then the problem is showing the death of people who really were just doing their jobs as completely inconsequential. Neither Batou nor Ishikawa gave a single fuck about this. It gets further complicated due to the nature itself of the umibozu, which IIRC was to be a group to carry out extrajudicial killings for the military. And, again IIRC, there's also the fact that they were actually not working for the big villain, but were sent by the PM with Aramaki's agreement. So here we either dismiss them because they were a bunch of top secret killers working for the military no matter their beliefs, or we consider them as a bunch of people who got thrown to the fire in complicated political maneuvers. And yet the second position is in no way acknowledged by the show. There's obviously a discrepancy here.
There's also the fact that the Umibozu were (yet again IIRC) sent to capture S9 agents (except for Motoko) and not to kill them. In any case they did capture everyone, and the worst they did was to punch Ishikawa a bit for all the people he killed with his bomb. This part was complete bullshit and they should have executed everyone they caught, but it didn't happen because obviously the MCs can't die. And there's no torture either. All these considered (and there should be more), the entire finale involving the Umibozu was badly handled, Batou executing the pilot is just a part of it.
Just checked the Jungle Cruise episode.
Amoretti was a massive bulky tough guy, full cyborg, and he weighed in at 121 KG, that's obese on the BMI, but I'm fairy sure a guy looking like him would show up as obese using that metric anyway.
The cyborgs weighing a ton thing just isn't true in SAC.
How is Arise? There's something about it I don't like, but I've only seen the PV and some promotional art
>There's something about it I don't like
Could be. I don't love it, that's for sure.
Character design and how they portray characters. It feels after all those series that you know a character and grew attached to them but suddenly they start over and some are not as cool as they end up being throughout the many episodes you watched. That is what bothered me.
It was alright, the first was meh imo the second was a lot more entertaining. They will never be like SAC, you need to distance yourself from that when watching it. The action is nice and I enjoy androids and anything that uses the GITS universe mechanics so it wasn't that bad a watch.
I don't remember the RoboLesbian scene being animated. What series/episode?
>The action is nice and I enjoy androids and anything that uses the GITS universe mechanics so it wasn't that bad a watch.
Basically the only reason I stuck with it.
So when they say Ghost in SAC what do they mean? Soul? Conscious?
I'd go for the non-supernatural answer.
It'd be pretty out of place otherwise.
yeah, kinda like pic related
It's sad that pretty much all of the hentai for The Major is terrible.
>No there are moments in life when sex comes before life itself
Like having the opportunity to fuck The Major, for instance.
Exactly, this Anon gets it.
There has to be something good
What about zone's?
Zone is great
Can't recall when I last saw a character lust over someone like that
It is when you are talking about character designs though. I think Bato looks better with short hair like in the manga. I also think the characters had more personality in the manga. Even if the shows had better plots and were less crazy than the manga, I still think arise is better for having more manga like characters.
Most would disagree with you on Arise having better designs than any of the other continuities.
I vastly prefer SAC in this area, the Major's stripper outfit from season 1 being the only real
I don't like the less serious tone of the Manga and prefer the personalities presented in SAC and the Oshii movies, SAC I thought struck a great balance between the serious tone and lighthearted stuff, whilst Oshii went full serious and did it well.
Arise is the weakest in terms of both character design and character personalities for me.
I can't think of any area in which it bettered the other Anime adaptations personally.
It's still enjoyable enough taken on its own merits though.
>I vastly prefer SAC in this area, the Major's stripper outfit from season 1 being the only real
I fucking agree. And I feel sad that every time I mentioned in a friendly conversation someone always say that I'm being feminist or white knight or gay. Godfuckinggod, the people who made the anime could put fan service in other two hundred places, but they decided to make the shit serious protagonist in a stripper suit everywhere. It's just doesn't make sense.
Sorry for my poor English or whatever.
So, what are you truly getting at is that you are all three, right?
I find it strange that you mention Arise as the weakest in character personalities. Maybe it's memory playing tricks on me but the rest of Section 9 (outside of maybe Batou) seems to be getting a lot more fleshed out as compared to the other animated works. Obviously, the major in Arise is presented as younger and all the implications that go with it so I can understand why someone wouldn't like it as much.
She was in the PS2 game Production I.G. put out.
That game kicked ass. Recommend.
Seconded. I don't see a doujin anywhere
Yeah I never got that how did he survive?
OK, I love Gits SAC, and that shot is great, but there was a lot of QUALITY in some episodes
Yeah, the people who say Arise has weaker characters are just being nostalgafags freaking out over change.
SAC was a great show but it had a lot of flaws that Arise fixes, including fleshing out the secondary characters more. And again, Bato looks better with short hair.
He's a cyborg, as long as the armored braincase is intact they can rebuild him.
What I want to know is why they replace the arms they lost in combat while they are in prison. Wouldn't it make more sense to either live them disarmed (har har har) or give them lower quality prison arms? I guess it's a civil rights issue.
Is it now possible to post this and not appear to be an underaged /b/tard?
>not posting the .gif
Bullshit, don't even bother accusing people of nostalgiafaggotry Arise has barely fleshed out anyone yet, there's been no time to do so.
In SAC Motoko, Batou, Saito, Aramaki, Togusa, the Tachikomas, and even Pazu got at least one episode (usually more) to themselves to build their characters.
Ishikawa wasn't given his own episode of focus, but was given plenty of personality, Borma is the odd one out really, but there's still time for him, Kamiyama did tweet about maybe doing 3rd Gig a few weeks ago.
Arise has improved on literally nothing from SAC, if you like Batou with shorter hair that's great, personally I don't mind either way.
>Maybe it's memory playing tricks on me
Seriously, it is.
I can't even comprehend someone thinking that Arise has fleshed out section 9 better than SAC without misremembering things.
I can't find it.
>Kamiyama did tweet about maybe doing 3rd Gig a few weeks ago.
my dick. Its moving on its own.
When's the third Arise anyway
/a/ would shit all over it
Would you cuddle with the Major, /a/?
You'd have to be the little spoon, but that's okay.
>only crying a little
It'll either get crapped on by nostalgians or it'll get crapped on by newfags who spam buzzwords like deep or edgy.
I'm too tall to be the little spoon, even for a cyborg. My life is literally suffering.
Since it called back to the manga and movie I feel like the OH SHIT DAYUM reaction that was expected of the audience was lost on me.
I am constantly disappointed by how awful Appleseed's adaptations are. However. The soundtrack to the first Appleseed movie was pretty fucking stellar.
With the lithium references in this song I always feel like this is about some sort of bipolar manic pixie dream girl.
I like it. Mostly cause I liked all the doll theory talk and why the fuck would I ever not want to watch Togusa tag along with Batou? Also the soundtrack was pretty stunning.
Dammit, I want super robotic hands to type like that. Although, in reality that's really fucking redundant. Why not just interface with the machine directly for input? Maybe it's a security feature to require input from an external peripheral?
Anyone who can interface like that is vulnerable to ghost-hacking. I'm betting the guy's job mandates he be 100% out of cyberspace, leaving him only with purely physical augs like the spider hands. The Russians just did a similar thing recently, their equivalent of the Secret Service put in an order for typewriters after the whole NSA debacle came out. Can't hack what's not online.
The Major would never put up with his faggot shit.
Yeah, most of Shirow's stuff seems to get great music.
I would with Batou.
In the manga she has lesbo sex but she also had a BF from a Rival Agency.
I want to bury my face in the major's ass and inhale deeply.
i kinda dont like the new major
I like her fine, it's Saito they messed up
Just got done watching Arise 1 & 2. I like that she's fallible. She screws up and that's nice to see. I also like the new, adversarial relationship between Batou and the Major. I liked their old relationship as depicted in the films and SAC, but this is a nice change of pace.
But man, no Togusa in the second OVA, at all? What a disappointing shit show.
