Picture a dark h-doujin about idols and take away the rape. Then add some angry jokes and bland speeches.

It is one of the few shows where all girls are the best girl. The main male character is also not a bland self-insert, even though he is a ball-less pushover and has bad luck.

Yes, the animation is a bit derpy, but it has inspired actual feelings. It seems like the realistic depiction of the rise (and perhaps fall) of an idol group. I'm not normally a fan of idol shows, but holy crap, Yamakan has me hook-line-and-sinker.
>>
>>100764959
>even though he is a ball-less pushover and has bad luck.

Then what are his good points? Because so far he sounds like a bland self-insert.
>>
>>100764959
>(and perhaps fall
This is confirmed in NHK interview - Yamakan wants to do the story from formation to desolution of the band. So they likely break up at end of the season.

Which however, considering it also promotes real Idol band is bit risky as it would affect their real cariers. But scandals, inner conflicts and eventual break up pretty much confirmed. We dont know about format yet though - wether they`ll break up in TV anime,or he planes more WUG shows to expand on story, but he is dedicated to tell the whole story.
>>
>>100765107
He plays guitar? Also indeed not much good to say about him, he is pretty pathetic. A guitarist that failed his dream of playing in a band (while the band he was part of still exists and plays) and become errands boy in 3rd rate talent agency.
>>
>>100765107
He's a sweetie and he still dreams, even though he has been crushed again and again. He is good at taking orders, but not at taking charge.
>>
>>100765231
>>100765275
Sounds like a self-insert. The again a self-insert can also be good when he mans-up, and that backstory could be interesting.
>>
>>100765382
He's yamakan's self insert, so no doubt he will have his development. I suppose he'll lose his shit somewhere in the middle of the series and he'll start to man up right after it.
>>
>>100765141
I see WuG as a sort of '2.5D', and I think that this is brilliant. All of the VAs are new, they don't have careers to throw in the toilet. They aren't just voicing their characters, they are playing them on stage. It is a sort of 'life' acting thing, art that goes beyond the screen.

I think that some of the girls will have their careers launched by this big project, a couple of them will probably retire from acting after this. I have no idea how well Japan is going to react to it, but signs indicate that it is at least making a splash (and pissing people off).

>I suppose he'll lose his shit somewhere in the middle of the series and he'll start to man up right after it
>He's yamakan's self insert

More like, lose his shit and start burning things.
>>
>>100765382
>>100765451
He could well be Yamakan's self-insert. Matsuda feels like he has more to him than the usual 'bland teenage guy' that shows up so often.
>>
>>100765451
But Director is Yamakan`s self insert?
>>
>>100765477
Anything capable of pissing the 2ch fatfucks off it's fantastic. It's about time they deal with their shitty taste. Yamakan is a bad director, but he has guts, and I really appreciate it. That's one of the reasons I keep watching (and enjoying) this.

And for those this expecting it to be grimderp and cater to their wishful thinking, give up.
In another interview before he said he doesn't strive to set himself apart from Im@s and Love Live, except that he'll produce idol songs instead of anisongs.

Way to not being able to read articles. The only thing he stated is that he does not try to be different from IMAS and LL since he does not associate WUG with them, he is not competing. He is doing something entirely different.

The show already IS different, no matter how you try to spin it.
