The silly comparison continues. Who will be the "best" this year?
>Tamako Market Movie
>Kagerou Project (Mekaku City Actors)
I like how the madoka girls in the image are really the girls from Kill me baby.
>Tamako Market Movie
Fuck you KyoAni
Chuuni beats everything.
The only reason why KyoAni and SHAFT are compared is because they're the only worthwhile studios today.
What happens to SHAFT after monogatari?
Not true, there's... uh...
Madoka season 2
Sakura Trick has a lot of SHAFT talent working on it, including its director, who did Hidamari x Hoshimitsu. I'd count it, since the quality obviously didn't come from DEEN's end.
I know Nana Project is just pachislots, but do you think we'll at least get an OVA out of it?
Kagerou Project is going to be huge
It doesn't count as they're now a part of DEEN. Otherwise you might as well count Chuu2 Ren #2 as Madhouse since that's where the episode director came from.
I'm cool with counting them as DEEN, provided they continue to give the studio a good name.
More importantly, who the fuck leaves SHAFT for DEEN
If it allows them more creative freedom or avenues for career advancement, I don't see why not.
Regardless of their reasons, why is that a bad thing? It's not as if SHAFT is missing creative talent. Good SHAFT shows are to be expected, but a watchable DEEN show is something new and exciting.
Last year was KyoAni's worst year. Free was okay despite looking like garbage but Tamako and KnK were disappointing
Shaft's year was far better. Madoka Rebellion and Monogatari Season 2 were both great.
Although my AOTY 2013 was by Silver Link and my AOTY 2014 is by DEEN. Two studios who I don't care for at all
Bros, legends and generally cool people.
I still think we should start comparing Sunrise and Toei again. They're both age old rivals, they've both saved anime many times, they're both currently airing a mecha show with amazing animation which heavily references their old series, and I could go on. SHAFT Vs KyoAni just doesn't even make sense. KyoAni isn't even an animation studio, but a publisher and promoter of LNs, the very lowest form of media known to man.
Yes, I was talking about Pupa. I mean, DEEN certainly are doing anything else at the moment right?
Oh yeah, and when I mentioned Silver Link I was talking about Watamote because they certainly didn't anything other than that last year right?
I'm talking Sakura Trick and Non Non Biyori you imbecile
>KyoAni isn't even an animation studio
Sure, and Ufotable is a cinema operator only.
Uh, ok. Fuck.
I mean, I agree they are two of the best studios. But isn't this... unexciting? I mean, I just don't see Madoka or Haruhi in this lineup. But let's get on with the head to head.
Nisekoi and Chuu22 are both going to be good romcoms, but I don't think either of them will be legendary. We will be lucky to get great--I give the edge to Nisekoi.
I don't know anything about these next two... but the title "Amagi Park" sounds like the worst of KyoAni. So that leaves me betting on... Kagerou Project. Maybe it will be ambitious and exciting somehow.
Tamako Market actually IS the worst of KyoAni. Let's be honest, who the fuck is excited for Tamako Market? Apparently SHAFT is still milking *monogatari... I don't hate *monogatari, but /a/ gives it too much credit. It's fanservice and sexy dialogue with a couple of intriguing concepts and a lot of pretentious throwing words at the screen. Still, I'd watch it over Tamako Market ten times out of ten.
Winner is SHAFT.
>KyoAni isn't even an animation studio
But they aren't. Is Microsoft a video game company? Is Barns & Nobles a music store? Is Dunkin Donuts a donut shop? No, of course not.
Hey, care to guess what's Kyoani's primary business?
Hint: It's related to animation.
Now you're just being retarded. Their publishing arm is peanuts compared to their animation side. They are first and foremost an animation studio.
Going by your retarded definition I suppose you consider Ufotable to be a cafe and cinema operator? Oh I know, I.G. is a magazine publisher since I.G. Port has a publishing arm too, and a major one at that.
Mekaku and the Monogataris inspire some excitement
Agree, KyoAni really tanked last year while SHAFT could still lean on Madoka.
You are pretty much on target. Take heart--both Amagi Park and Kagerou Project are promising. Although neither look earth-shattering, we could be in for some great shows.
Amagi park is taking cues from FMF:F, so that might be something.
Nisekoi good? Hell no. That and the monogataris are just well-dressed harems.
Not particularly well-dressed in Nise's case.
>Amagi park is taking cues from FMF:F, so that might be something.
Amagi doesn't really feel like Fumoffu to me. It has Gatoh's brand of humor, but the setting and set up are so different that you can't really compare the two.
KyoAni because of Free!
Dirty peasant in one studio or God Emperor in another?
They're not dead and can be leased back when needed.
They can't milk it. It's not an ongoing story like monogatari, it will have a decisive end.
For anybody who doesn't know about this series: it's a comedy supernatural mystery with a plot composed of elements from various popular mythologies.
KyoAni is the better studio, but they keep making mediocre to good shows while SHAFT keeps making brilliant shows.
Immediate win for Kyoani in these cases.
Going to watch it for lolrandom and Kana Asumi crawling up to me with a smile.
They can milk a second season with it considering Kagerou Project is a big story. Not to mention the inebitable character albums.
I'm glad Ene stays in the screen. A proper cyber girl is rare.
Your trip has an excessive amount of O's and that makes me feel unsettled.
>Tamako Market Movie
They sure far better than SHAFT in term of animation, but come on?
Is it really big enough for two seasons? I guess they might get up to six novels if the fifth one is entirely dedicated to the MC's past, and half of the sixth one is dedicated to the past of other characters.
That would be kind of funny, because one of the characters essentially says "this is ending soon" in the third novel, which would just be the half way point.
There is a fair bit missing in the canon between the events of the formation of the Mekakushi-dan/Beginning of the haze and the 2 different endings in Outer Science and Summertime Record
This alone will make SHAFT best of the year.
Comparing currently airing anime, Nisekoi is better than Chuu2 Ren.
Greatest tragic love story ever told.
Lookin' like SHAFT, especially with the way KyoAni's been lately. Somehow between bad scriptwriting or just awful source material, most of their recent stuff has been unwatchable, like eyecandy in a bag filled with razors.
Holding some hopes for Amagi Park, but KyoAni just haven't been picking the right things to adapt lately. And Tamako Market is terrible.
Both are unoriginal shitfucking milk-the-fanbase studios.
Shaft - Milking the monogatari franchise till it hurts. Only the first Bake series was worth watching.
Kyoani - Same old K-on formula, artstyle and storytelling. Only redeeming show was Chuu2.
Shaft is my favorite anime studio, but Nisekoi is not better than Chuuni2.
Monogatari stopped being harem after Koi.
>hasn't seen Honogatari Second Season
I completed 2nd season and the latest Neko series. I did not like them, it was simply cashing in on the Bake hype. Too much dialogue, would have been better as audio book or Drama CD.
You forgot Free!!
Chuu 2 will be the only good thing Kyoani produce this year
Why are there so many gataris?
Nisio is a great writer but just like Tamako Market, there comes a time when the same content creates saturation and people become irritated.
Studios should evolve, instead of milking their franchises till they start losing fans.
SHAFT have terrible work conditions where they're all depressed and scurrying about trying to meet deadlines. Especially if they're doing more than one show a season
>too much dialogue
The ultimate complaint, surpassing even pretentiousness.
>looking like garbage
Only by KyoAni standards. It still looked better than 80% of the whole season.
Takemoto will save KyoAni with Amagi.
2014 will be fucking shit for KyoAni.
Shaft has some good stuff though.
I found Second Season to be consistently good, in a way Bakemonogatari never was. In fact, I'd even say Second Season was better than Bakemonogatari, and the best overall.
I feel most anons are driven to hate it due to the absolutely horrible threads during the airing(X>Y>Z girl bullshit). Hell I didn't watch it when it was airing.
> I like how the madoka girls in the image are really the girls from Kill me baby.
Your powerlevel is too fucking low. Fail harder.
>Only by KyoAni standards
