Where did hulu get all this anime though? Like the rights to it? Especially the recent stuff.

Nonexclusive broadcast license for overseas is cheap as shit, under 5k usually, and that's all that hulu or CR ever pays. Nothing else of your money to them goes back, essentially they can both foot that with advertising money and all subscriptions go to their own pockets.

I think they made a deal with funimation that stated that they could post videos from funimation on to hulu an hour after its posted on funimation's website. Not sure how much they paid funimation.

Interesting, I wasn't that surprised by all the older anime (probably cheap to pick up) but then I saw stuff like kyokai no kanata and started wondering.
