if the father of manga and anime was inspired by disney then why do you hate cartoons and comics?
Holy shit, is anime french? Wow I can't believe people obsess over japs and claim it's theirs.
>then why do you hate cartoons and comics?
I don't, I hate faggots. Fuck off back to your own board.
Because things changed.
Right now, American comics are mostly those gay superhero comics.
I don't. Just current cartoons and comics
I don't. On /a/, I only care about what's /a/ related.
He got the point, now let the troll thread die.
I don't hate cartoons and comics. I just hate /co/ and its tolerance of furries and tumblr shit.
>I got the point*
Stop replying and breathing life into a shit thread.
Go discuss anime or manga.
I don't hate comics
The west hates animation.
Also I hate off-topic threads and content of every kind. Any sensible user of a board would.
Astro Boy > 99.9% of manga these days
Astro boy is an above average battle shounen at best.
I do like Disney, but not all comics and cartoons are old school Disney or Warner.
>not overrated shit
Japanese people hate animation just as much a the West.
I do hate disney though, for lobbying those damn copyright extensions in the 90s, but corporations lobbying infinite copyright extensions is a topic for another time and another board.
That should tell you how bad manga is these days.
>liking a separate family branch means you can't dislike the common ancestor
I dislike both Japanese and American cartoons, though.
Tezuka's innovation to the industry wasn't story-telling.
That's because you believe astroboy to be better.
You know most manga aren't battle shounen right?
He wrote over 700 different manga in his life.
Black Jack > AstroBoy
Yeah, most are worse.
The west completely restricts animation to kid's shows and sitcoms.
at least the nips see animation as a viable adaption for their manga.
Black Jack, Buda or Adolf are way way better than Astroboy at its finest moments.
Actually many of them are better
>better than anything
That it advanced so high that one of their classics is the highest of manga's lowest-tier genre next to ecchi and harem of course
You forget the staggering amount of shoujoshit out there.
Japanese people think only children and losers watch anime. Not the different from Westerners.
To be fair, they're not wrong.
shoujo and shounen are about the same level relatively speaking.
Are you a retarded?
yet no one will bat an eyelid when studios like Madhouse make a more mature series.
>The west completely restricts animation to kid's shows and sitcoms.
Which is why the new Honda Civic ads targeted at 20-somethings feature Adventure Time.
>One Piece has adult viewers it's for adults guiz!
Who said we did?
Who said that they claimed that hat is Japanese? Are you creating arguments in your head?
>why do you hate cartoons and comics?
I don't, fuck you.
Adventure Time is made for the college-aged stoner crowd.
"Inspiration" doesn't mean you can basically claim a permanent hierarchy/relation to something. Otherwise you can chain things back infinitely far. If Picasso happened to be inspired by someone who was a shittier artist than him, that doesn't mean you have to love the shitty artist too just because Picasso is good. Japan took animation and did things with it that predecessors have not, and still do not do, to this day. Western animation is stuck in the animation ghetto; Japan dug its way out.
Breaking away from that, cartoons just can't compete because of the sheer volume disparity just makes it not worthwhile to me. When I'm used to watching 50+ anime a year regularly, one or two mediocre (at best) new cartoons just looks so laughably inadequate that I can't take them seriously as an alternative.
Just going by Sturgeon's law (90% of any media is shit), by the sheer numbers, you are way, way more likely to find a new anime you like than a new cartoon. If you watch 30-50 shows a year, which is assuming you never even bothered with the other 70+ shows that didn't look remotely doable, chances are you will find at least 3-5 shows from that year to be pretty decent at the very least. If you watch say 5 new cartoons a year (and that's a generous estimate for watchable new cartoons for people older than like 15), you will be lucky to truly like any of them. It's obvious that people on /co/ do a ton of mental gymnastics to convince themselves that new shows (for example Steven Universe) are "great", because they have nearly no choice but to like it, because if they already don't like most other shows airing then well, they've got no business with cartoons for the moment and that's just devastating for people who claim to like cartoons.
Not to mention with all the flash/cg shit and people just not in the mindset to accept cartoons as being anything more than comedy or saturday morning capes for 10 year olds, they're just plain fucked. Why ride a sinking ship?
Ignoring that manga covers a lot more genres and styles and is more aesthetically pleasing, comics are inferior just because their paneling is so terrible in comparison to manga. I find it difficult to read a comic for a long period of time for that reason. It's so boring. Manga are about creating movement with pictures, where as with comics they're like just static images with a bunch of text attached to them.
Also, anime and manga artists simply have better grasp of what makes characters attractive. They find the right balance between realism and exaggeration. Comic book artists do not. They put too much realism and detail in the wrong places and it looks ugly. Half of their characters look like dirty porn stars and trannies.
But I don't.
the word you are looking for is "pity"
they "pity" western cartoons nowadays
cape comics no one likes though not all/most western comics are cape
But I like cartoons and comics. Especially Titmouse stuff.
Start reading superior Euro comics.
>mfw people think cape comics and their fanbase is rabidly different than anime and manga fans
Besides, even western comic fans complain about the dominance and stupidity of DC and Marvel's warehouse of spandex wearing drama queens.
i enjoy long stories. comics and cartoons are usually 1 chapter/episode short stories.
Another reason I don't read western comics is because of the random usage of bolding words.
I don't SEE what the PROBLEM is, ANON.
Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends?
"...I hate Japan"
Why does he look like one of the Three Stooges?
Speaking of, wow, 13:25 just came out of left field.
>tfw still no ongoing SoL comic about the Avengers
Comics influenced manga.
Manga influenced comics.
Even Deadpool can see the glory of Precure
Chen and Deadpool, the teamup too amazing and obscure for the world to handle.
Because I get tired of stories that never end. American comics just drag on and on and on through the decades. Even the longest-running shounen manga in existence can't compare. Coupled with the fact that they're all monthly serializations which means it can easily take over a year to finish even a single story arc and I really just can't keep caring about something like that for too long. I don't have the patience.
I don't hate them, I just think the Japanese have improved the model, while the West has struggled to even keep its status-quo.
there are lots of comics that have short runs. They tend to be the most loved series of all. But even the ongoing ones that have been around since the 30's still have something interesting. It's like when you order a dish you're used to having but it's a different chef and so the preparation is slightly different. Sometimes you like the flavour, other times the flavour is just being used to boost sales. I'm sure if you wanted to be less biased we could point out some ongoing series from Japan that are just as bad.
I don't hate cartoons necessarily, I just haven't found any I like in a while. As for comics, unless Calvin and Hobbes counts, than I know absolutely nothing about it and couldn't say whether I hate them or not.
