So which version of Trigun is better. The manga or the anime?
>>
anime flopped because the Japs believed it butchered the manga

take that as you will

Something like that.

manga >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anime
>>
Both are enjoyable
>>
How does the Anime differ from the Manga?

The two insurance agency ladies are vastly underused to the point they might as well be background characters in the manga.

Wolfwood's death is handled so much better in anime but I like both versions.

lets just say the manga had one of the best endfights ever really.
i'd say manga primarily because the anime felt WAY too short and should have been more comprehensive.

I heard Legato also gets a hell of amount of development in one of the later volumes but I haven't bought volumes 12,13 and 14 yet.

The list would be too long.

The anime is more light-hearted. The first half of the anime is essentially a comedy. It follows the manga for a brief time when Vash fights the gung-ho-guns but aside from that it is very different. Fuck it, I'll list some of it out for you.

Differences in the manga:
1. You learn about Tesla, a plant that came before Vash and Knives. What the humans did to her was the reason Knives hates humanity so much. In the anime, they just get bullied by a drunk guy.

2. Vash's hair slowly turns from blonde to black throughout the manga as he uses his angel arm. It represents his power-supply as a plant.

3. Legato's powers and back-story are explained, and his role/storyline is much improved upon.

4. Wolfwood's past is revealed even further in the manga. Spoilers if you haven't seen the series yet: Wolfwood dies in both the anime and manga, but the situation is completely different. His death is very sad and emotional in the anime, but not nearly as satisfying as the manga.

5. The most important difference is the ending. The anime is a botched 1vs1 gun-fight between Vash and Knives, and doesn't elaborate on anything. Whilst in the manga, Knives achieves a God-like form by absorbing plants. Legato and the remaining GHG's are still on his side. Vash teams up with Livio (You can think of him as Wolfwood's successor) and they lead the human resistance against Knives. Other S.E.E.D.S spaceships also arrive to fight Knives / rescue the survivors.

Basically, manga is 8/10 and anime is 3/10.

Thank you, I'll start downloading the Manga.
I loved the Anime but it was kind of silly sometimes so a serious version like what you described is just fine by me.

>serious version
Expect the GoG to have actual fucked up backstories.
