All right, /a/.
Give me an anime that features a protagonist who isn't some "chosen one" with unique abilities. What I'm looking for is a manga/anime that shows the protagonist rising to the top through sheer willpower/determination/training/etc.
So you want an MC that doesn't do anything himself?
Sorry can't help you there.
Protag is a failure even among his turbonerd freak friends.
I don't know? Cromatorie? My Teen Romance SNAFU?
OP here. God damn you.
I'm still in depression over finishing the movie.
Hajime no Ippo
Amamiya Yuuhi - Total Badass.
Reading steiner is an ability
Veritas a best
Gangryong is the king of getting shit done, rather than having fate do it for him.
Hajime no Ippo
But the ronin isn't the protagonist.
hoshi no samidare
it's also a 10/10
But Haru constantly wrecks Rin's tryhard ass. I liked Free!, but the moral really goes all over the place.
what, they only really raced each other once and haru lost
Kenichi: The First Disciple
or something along the lines
he starts as a nerd getting the shit beat out of him, becomes a martial arts badass
>protagonist rising to the top through sheer willpower/determination/training/etc.
There's shitloads of anime like that, quit being a lazy faggot and search for yourself. You didn't even try to hide the fact that this is a rec thread.
Boku no Pico and sequels.
First, he is trained by a great master.
Then he faces a great riva.
Finally, his old rival returns, accompanied with a girl with a mysterious hidden sword. He faces them down two on one.
In the end, he wins the hearts of all. He truly is My Pico.
He has the damn Nine-Tails in him, the most powerful of the Tailed Beasts.
To Love Ru
Sora no Woto
Spice and Wolf
Shakugan no Shana
Sora no Otoshimono
that one anime
you know the one
yooou know the ooone
He's close enough.
That oatmeal looks gross.
Nice autistic troll you have going there, mate.
Half of those are chosen ones.
are you shitting me?
YOU LOOK GROSS FUCKING NERD I HATE YOU AND YOUR WAIFU IS A FUCKING BLIMP COW
>thinly veiled recommendation thread
nobody has said samurai flamenco?
>Must be troll and autistic
That's the joke.
Agreed fully on Veritas. Psyren is up there as well.
Psyren's MC doesn't exactly work crazy hard, but he gets really mad and then gets shit done. It's cathartic. Early in his ability may seem kinda special snowflake, but it's handled really well.
But he isn't. He is a major character, though.
That's not a very good joke then.
Jokes make people laugh, that wouldn't make anyone laugh.
Fuck you said cuz? Muh dawg just know I'm bout that life. Goofy ass muthafucka, you not down wit the blam blam. Me n my nigga go hard.
his poor shoulders ;_;
Hajime no Ippo is good. I never thought I'd enjoy a boxing anime but it's one of my favorites.
Anime rec thread?
Any harem where the MC isn't some nervous shy guy?
Yeah go hard into your dad's ass
That's cause I haven't delivered the punchline yet.
They raced twice against each other as high school students. Rin won both times, but it was a hollow win the first time.
Is the punchline your retarded actions? Because that's still not very funny.
Hantsu x Trash
Nah, you don't fuck with the fam like that. You must be curled. I know niggas that know niggas that know niggas
Wait for the damn punchline, don't rush it.
Does Guts count?
Veritas, Berserk, Hajime No Ippo
>ctrl+f "baby step"
>"diamond no ace"
Well I only need to know one nigga ; Jamal Christ
Here's the punchline!
>shitty unfunny anime
thinly veiled rec thread
You just don't understand it. You've been eating shit jokes your entire life so all you can taste is shit. It's only natural for your body to reject an actual joke.
Boku no recomendation thread
Wish someone could translate more chapters of dna. That shit is good.
Manga is better for this.
Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru
History's Strongest Disciple
Shit most sports manga
Nobunaga the Fool
not that guy, but what kind of joke when no one's laughing?
Hajime no Ippo, Ookiku Furikabutte, Chihayafuru
I wouldn't be naming sports anime if you didn't write "rising to the top".
There are tons of normal MCs without the rising to the top element.
It's because he was the one sliding, but because he's some CHOSEN TIME TRAVELER
I'm still depressed about the ending.
Kenichi is pretty much the opposite of what OP wants. He is basicaly Gary Stu that develops magically from weakest nerd to superman. Its not "effort", its "magic" aka Masters Training. You`ll be hard to find a bigger Gary Stu outside of Mahaoka
You're going to want to watch naruto.
Only show I know of that fits that description is maybe Naruto.
>not unique abilities
I watched an anime once that was exactly as you described. I think the title as Naturo or Naruto or something.
>What I'm looking for is a manga/anime that shows the protagonist rising to the top through sheer willpower/determination/training/etc.
Kenichi is exactly that. And theres no magic or really anything special about him. He works his ass off to get stronger, and he's no where near the strongest.
Too bad the manga went to shit. I loved it so much, too.
>Too bad the manga went to shit. I loved it so much, too.
They've got fucking armored knights, that run across water and deflect rounds from turrets. Using martial arts.
It's still pretty damn good.
The Odin arc is great. After that...
Wait what? I haven't read it since shortly after they finished that silly tournament arc.
This looks like massive bullshit now.
>They've got fucking armored knights, that run across water and deflect rounds from turrets. Using martial arts.
You say that like it's a good thing. The thing that made me snap, the exact moment where I actually dropped this manga, was when Shigure was jousting with a bike and a torn chain mail vest. Your image doesn't exactly convince me
Master of Martial Hearts
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Cromartie High School
An ordinary high school student becomes the best delinquent boss in Japan with the power of rudimentary common sense and the ability to adapt to any insane situation
He looks so menacing in the later volumes, too.
Fuck off to >>>/r/ request threads are against the rules.
