Alright m8s, it's time for a scanlation/typesetting/editing thread, since there's one FUCKING NEVER.

I'll start off with sharing something -- a font pack! In short, this is to have YOU stop fucking using Anime Ace 2.0 and Wild Words for everything.

https://mega.co.nz/#!6MR30KIB!S-jbG26sResHjAEg2UBThC9yMm8CZB4wOA3_f98ztzc

The fonts in it are in the image.
>>
How about I use Comic Sans for everything instead?
>>
Fonts that appear to look like bad handwriting sacrifice legibility. You should use Courier.

Damn, these are really good. I'm pretty amateur so I haven't heard of 80% of them and it makes me wish I could go back and make better choices typesetting what I've already worked on. A ton of thanks for this.
>>
>>100705368
Just out of curiousity, what have you already worked on?
>>
So, someone gave me recently high quality raws of something I had been working on from internet releases. When cleaning them, I'm having a problem with the MC's hair (and sometimes in other places): banding.
I was wondering, how do you guys fix it when that happens?
>>

Can you give an example page?

It isn't ironic or funny, and you can't claim to be doing it because it has always been there. The links at the top and bottom didn't originally used to exist, we had nav bar on the left side of the screen and the board has always been named /a/.
>>

>>
>>100706865
Just installed newest version. Same errors. Installed 7zip and for some reason 7zip doesn't even see it in the folder for me to try to extract it.

Any good font packs hosted on some site somewhere? Googling free font packs give me a ton of shit to sift through and I'm looking for stuff specifically for typesetting. I guess i could just keep digging through them and download the one's I think look nice one at a time.

Why do scanlators act like such retards? Why is there so much profiteering and drama surrounding shit that's not even yours? Why don't people just do it for the love?
>>
>>100703724
I have a shitton of fonts now, yet I still use Wild Words, Zud Juice, augie, and All Things Pink for everything scanlation related. Of course, I do vary a bit with SFX, titles, signs and the like, but they've stuck with me ever since I started. And they look good enough, anyway.
>>
>>100717407
Not like it matters anyway.

As long as you don't use shitty font then people tend to not care what you use.
>>
>>100717302
It's because people who read scanlated manga are completely willing to suck their virtual dicks over it.
>>
>>100717302
But most do it for the love. The problem is that this love ends up being expensive. Hours of work and effort for something that most people don't even notice (because, if they do, you fucked up). So when some retard comes around, it's pretty understandable that you get mad. Not that I approve it (I'm not even sure of what you're talking about), but it's understandable.
>>
>>100717302
Why do you have to let a few black sheep to skew your perspectives and make a sweeping statements about the entire group?
>>
>>100718015
>>100718054
I can't wait for you guys to throw a tantrum on your blog and delay a release because you're upset that someone on 4chan called you a drama whore
>>
>>100718259
People like you are just as bad as those attention seeking whores you speak of.
>>
>>100718259
You are quite silly. The only reason I delay releases is because I procrastinate a lot. What other people say has only two effect on me: try to release something faster or try to change something in my releases people don't like.
>>
>>100718015
>expensive
In terms of money? How so? I understand that the process takes a lot of time.
>>
>>100719078
Expensive in terms of time and effort. It's also expensive in terms of money if you're the one scanlating, specially if you have to import.
>>
>>100719132
That's all true, but it's unfair to consider it your work, or to seek to take credit for it. The original artist is the person who put in all the real effort. If you're going to do something like scanlation I think it best to do so with as much anonymity as possible. Anything else is flagrant thank-you thievery at best, and profiteering at worst.
>>
Thanks everyone that contributes to scanlation.

Not here to suck dick, but I do appreciate the effort your put in. please do more yuri
>>
>>100719519
First of all, of course it's your work. Would you say that when there's a manga drawn by someone and written by another someone, it's only the work of one of them? No. It's the work of both of them.
When you release a chapter, scanlated, cleaned and typesetted, that particular release is your work and the original author's. It's like an official release in another country. You put the same effort, or even more (they have access to clean digital versions of the manga most of the time since they work with the original publisher).

Second, in most cases you need a name, no matter what. For starters, when you upload it somewhere, you need an account. Then, most people would want to know when you release something, so they'll follow your releases on baka-updates. And for that to happen, not only you need to be someone, but you need to have some kind of page, blog or IRC.

Now, have I'm mind that I think more or less like you. My releases have no credits page and I tell everyone that they can use my releases as they see fit (I even upload the PSDs), as long as they don't claim the release to be theirs. But that doesn't mean that I can't understand others doing otherwise. Now, starting some drama because of what other people say is quite stupid, since we're supposed to be here for the love in the first place.
>>
>>100706345
That looks like shit.
>>
>>100719994
Here we have the egotistical attitude that lead to watermarks.
>>
>>100720751
I know. As I said, I did a lot of things to the page in order to get rid of the bands, without caring about anything else, and even then, I wasn't able to do it. That's the reason I'm asking for advice.
>>
>>100720864
Then post the raws.
>>
>>100720858
What are you even talking about? One thing is considering something you worked on your work. Another completely differen is signing every page of it as if it was only yours. Next you'll tell me I agree with the death penalty because I think raping little girls is wrong, right?

>>
>>100721119
You see, as soon as I try to clean it, and get rid of the noise as >>100721218 pointed out, I always end up with banding. I may be doing something wrong, but I don't think so. Just some surface blur on a layer set to burn and low opacity, topaz with low parameters and leveling.
