Why do the Nips insert The Four Gods into every fucking anime ever made?
Same reason they keep making shit about the Sengoku period over and over and over again. It reminds them of a time when they weren't slaves to an unthinking, unfeeling, uncultured United States
Same reason the western world loves to go with the Jesus route all the time with MCs. Easily identifiable and requires almost no thought from the writers.
Normally I'd write this off as a ruse or a joke but it seems you're just really that retarded.
As expected of KlK faggots.
Can I legitimately attack the anime for lacking creativity for using this trope for character design like the way Three Kingdoms or Sengoku is rehashed into everything?
Because every kid and his grandmother knows the four gods of the four directions. It's one of the dumb religious beliefs they still keep from the Chinese.
He seems to be an Anti-KLKfag, so he can't even claim to that.
I'm just using KLK as the most recent example to complain about how this trope is way too overused in Japanese media.
The problem is you are complaining about something that is used by almost every culture. Westerners love to use Jesus references, Asians love their 4 gods, Hindus put Krishna in things. It's so standard it is not worth bitching about.
Hm, aspects of Japanese culture frequently appearing in Japanese works. Fucking mindblowing shit here.
It's probably being used as a deconstruction of Japan-Chinese relationships or something.
>It's probably being used as a deconstruction of Japan-Chinese relationships or something.
That's the thing, this one aspect of Chinese culture is so overused that it's like the Japanese stereotypes the only culture worth a damn from China are the Three Kingdoms and Four Cardinal Gods. Of course that's not true, Japanese also incorporate other Chinese culture into their media, like Water Margin into Suikoden or even appearance of Taiwan as a local in Nobunagan. Four Gods and Three Kingdom tropes are overused and would be more entertaining to see Japan's take on other part of ancient Chinese history.
same reason why we insert Jesus into everything
It's an aspect of Japanese culture as well you colossal retard.
I know this might come as a shock to you but the moonlanders have a lot of shit that came from the Chinese and even more shit that shares common origins. Not to mention it's a popular aspect of Chinese culture, not just in Japan, and China happens to be a close neighbor of Japan to boot. I mean what are the odds that this shit would show up? It's fucking mind boggling.
Same reason they inserted religious nonsense into Nge. Its edgy
>You will never watch an anime about cute Chinese emperors constructing cute engineering marvels
The Japanese way of incorporating other religions to avoid copyright infringement.
To a lesser extent Journey to the West is also use frequently in both Chinese and Japanese media. Looking back, Saiyuki is such fujoshit.
For some reason they always keep Suzaku (red phoenix), Seiryuu (blue dragon), Byakko (white tiger) but always substitute Gembu (black tortoise) for something else entirely
Gembu was an Ox in World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria and a fucking RHINOCEROS in Ral-Grad
Apparently tortoises are not coool like dragons and tigers
>bunch of anime about Nobunaga
>no anime about Qing Shihuang
Qing Shihuang is a pretty cool guy, eh builds the Great Wall and doesn't afraid of anything
>Apparently tortoises are not coool like dragons and tigers
They really aren't. You can't really identify with a tortoise unless you are an old man or an accountant.
Seeing as you mentioned Water Margin, I'm wondering how you'd easily fit that into goddamned anything as a side thing without it being a pointless clusterfuck that didn't make any sense whatsoever. Four Gods is easy because, there's only four of the fuckers, that shit's easy to drop in.
And China harps on about Three Kingdoms more than anyone else, it's almost like the only part of their history they want people to remember. They've put out how many drama series directly based on it, and quite a few indirect ones. It's like if anyone thinks of Chinese history and doesn't think Three Kingdoms that they might remember the Mongols rolling right the fuck over them, and we can't have that.
At least it isn't the 7 deadly sins or some shit like that.
I guess you're right. China is a worse offender of sticking Three Kingdoms into fucking everything, especially their f2p p2w shitty MMOs that appear as pop up ads in every Chinese site.
What's wrong with the 7 deadly sins?
Why the fuck do you guys get butthurt over TVtropes? Its a decent site, and its pretty interesting to browse through
japs aren't interested in making anime about china
It's a site full of colossal retards like yourself that use words like "deconstruction" seriously even though they have no idea what they mean.
When I saw Dead Rising 3 using 7 Deadly Sins for boss design I decided using religious reference for character design is a lazy cop out for uncreative fucks who can't into original characters and can only rely on existing archetypes
>And China harps on about Three Kingdoms more than anyone else, it's almost like the only part of their history they want people to remember
Nah, that isn't even close. For every one 3k TV drama there are at least a dozen WWII dramas because you can't flip a single channel without seeing some war drama about repelling the invading 鬼子.
Most fucking over used thing ever, I like se7en though.
It's a racial stereotype for convenient recognition
Anything China related? Four cardinal beats
Americans show up? Hamburgers and cowboys, also black people, lots of them
Britbong show up? uhh I don't know, I'm sure there are also animu British stereotypes
Overrun with SA goons and they deliberately censor and remove entire articles that they don't like. Was a decent site but it's full of terrible people.
Well in this case its pretty much a caricature, showing Kyoto as ultra-traditional.
Didnt you notice the fucking monks with naginatas?
Now that I think about it, I wonder if they could ever do anything with either the Red Stone Chamber or Plum in the Golden Vase. The latter would at the very least be... stimulating. Still waiting for you to get off your ass and finish the translation, David Tod Roy. It's been twenty fucking years, time to finish that shit.
go to their forum section
just for a second
I agree that the term deconstruction is overused, good job on automatic assumption btw
but seriously, I like TVtropes, it has genuinely intelligent people who understand the conventions of writing. You just lump all of them into the same bucket because you have a very narrow view of things. Don't be so bitter anon its not so healthy.
To be fair everyone and their mother does tons of WW2 dramas and documentaries showing themselves as blameless victims. Well, except Germany and Japan, even they can't spin that shit away.
Japan can get away with trolling the rest of Asia by visiting that war memorial shrine.
The term deconstruction shouldn't be used in reference to media at all and the only people who do use it are retards trying to sound smart. It's unsurprising that it's popular on tvtropes, an entire website dedicated to lumping shit into arbitrary categories for exactly that reason.
Anyone who was intelligent or understood the conventions of writing would go anywhere near tvtropes. It's a place for people who like to pretend they do.
Well shit, I didn't know about that. I'll check this out. Thanks anon
I want more anime about Buddha
Yeah, that whole thing is kind of fucked up. I mean it has a long history that shouldn't be put aside, but the WW2 aspects of it are really distasteful. Almost nobody came out of that one clean, and they were so clearly the aggressors that the continued denial of what they've done is kind of appalling.
I mean even Canada sent Japan a Native delegation a few years back to apologize for our/their "part" in the bombings because some of the uranium used on Hiroshima MIGHT have come from northern Canada as part of the fissionable material we supplied to the States.
Yes because the world needs 24 episodes about a man traveling around convincing people to let go of material thoughts. Every week 15 minutes of talking and 15 minutes of meditation.
Why doesn't the article even mention Pokemon? Get on the ball, TVTropes.
i'd watch it
I mean its motherfucking buddha. God knows what crazy adventures he had
They breathe through their anus when they hibernate, what more do you need?
