What went wrong?
Emi opened her mouth
They killed Dullahan.
It didn't get a second season.
>Didn't go deep enough into the philosophy of "But he's not the dark lord of this world"
>Emi being passive aggressive
>End sets the status quo back up and everyone is friends
>They killed Dullahan
I was so fucking pissed,
chiho didn't win the hataraku.
They didn't use a cross over of a more popular character from another series to keep the series alive.
no second season
For being the main character, Maou really had crap character development. I don't mind the whole "evil villain becomes hero" thing, it's just that there is no concrete explanation for why Maou became good and wanted to protect humans. Of course, there are several completely plausible fan theories, but leaving the audience to guess what happened is poor writing.
It's a fun and mostly clever show, but Love Lab is the superior comedy of 2013.
The anime only covered the first 2 books out of 10+.
Trying to force haremshit into it. Or best girl shit at all. The series would have been perfect if it had been a couple of losers bachelors in a tiny apartment who happened to be demons from another world learning to get by. The inclusion of romcom shenanigans legitimately ruined the series.
Maybe if the LNs were translated, we could find out.
It also ruined the threads.
So, she's popular now?
I've been out of the loop for awhile.
Best girl shit always ruins every thread.
I would think that a proper explanation for a near-180 in the main character's morality should take some priority when it comes to exposition. Even just two LNs is a lot of text for that.
Peaked too early. 1-5 was fucking brilliant. I was legit laughing, not smiling like anime can barely muster on a good day.
her rack. i cant handle it.
Nothing? The anime was decent.
I think the opposite, something like that should be saved for an overall climax.
>Trying to force haremshit into it. Or best girl shit at all.
Directorfag was a Chihofag.
Despite that, he still couldn't make Chiho relevant and ruined some of Emi's development and character traits.
It would have been AOTS and the best comedy to come around in a while. In fact, the first few episodes were. Waifu wars killed it, though. Ruined its fantastic potential.
Plot happened. Ruined korean zombie desk car, too.
We didn't even know the series was a harem until after the anime ended though,
And yet waifu wars still made up the vast majority of the threads.
>Waifu wars killed it, though
I think this show was the only one in living memory that legitimately got its entertainment value ruined by /a/.
I think I'll have to tack this on to my answer about haremshit being the cancer. It would have worked much better a straight-up SOL.
>What went wrong?
They turned it into a harem and removed the Alsiel/ Maou-sama dynamic. Could have been a-fucking-mazing if the entire series was Maou and Alsiel having bro-tastic moments with Chi-chan being moe and Emi being tsun-moe but instead, they made Alsiel sick and instead added a few other shitty characters like the NEET, that one kimono bitch and the Cluckinbell faggot with blue hair.
Suzu > Emi > SHIT > Chi
All I asked was for more Lich, I never recieved.
I could have ignored the wars on /a/, but the romantic comedy hijinks being forced down the show's throat made it awful.
It will get a 2nd season.
It sold well in Japan.
Just not enough material in the manga to string out 13 episodes. Just some info on her dad, Maou's locket and Emi and Maou's weird SAO kid.
I can get behind this.
Skeleton bro where?
Maou > Alsiel > Lucifer >>>>>> Emi > SHIT > Suzu >>>>>>> cow
>Just not enough material in the manga to string out 13 episodes.
Are you retarded? It's LN and there is 10 volumes and they adapted only first two.
Why? Suzu is adorable and great. At least make her equal or behind Emi.
Alsiel being sick was kinda dragged out in the anime due to filler.
I was already tired of the show's decay when she showed up. She probably deserves to be above shit.
This. The first two or so episodes were easily AOTS contenders, and it went straight downhill from there.
>SHIT > Suzu >>>>>>> cow
Hey now, don't insult the landlady!
Everything after the first four minutes.
>No seacond season
>Suddenly it's a Harem, wtf guise
>Alsiel off screen for almost the whole second part fo the anime
Second season when? I loved this shit, could have used less romance though.
He was anime-only anyways.
Chi is obviously the cow. Landlady is an eldritch abomination.
Landlady was less annoying than Chiho.
No. It only sort of becomes a harem in the LNs once Suzu confesses but by then, Emilia has already won.
>once Suzu confesses
I still remember the shitstorm once we got spoilers about this.
There was also Suzu forgiving Hitler.
Has the manga passed the anime yet?
Friendly reminder that Emi won.
Friendly reminder that Strike the Blood's FeMC is how Emi should have acted.
I couldn't get into the sympathy for the devil/ the human leaders are the real bad guys shit this series was trying to pull. MC was a straight up unlikeable faggot and that ruined it for me.
Friendly reminder that you shippers are cancer.
The director was a Chihofag.
The worst part about the filler is that it forgot about Maou being the demon lord, reducing him to a generic nice guy in those episodes.
Nigga that's their (magical) daughter, and Maou wants her. Read the novels.
Best girl won, as it should be.
>Author literally is pairing them up and made the ship virtually canon
Wrong series for you?
I don't understand not liking Maou.
>caring about who won
This is exactly what killed Hataraku threads.
This show made me want to actually go out in the city, buy a small shitty apartment, work a simple job and interact and make friends with the community,
>tfw that will never happen
It went full crappy LN plot.
Also Chiho was a really dull character. I can usually deal with that, but the romance bits with her were just boring.
>You killed my dad you fuck
He's not actually dead.
Emi is such a cunt.
It's like the writer was too afraid of having her be you know, legit righteously hateful, so they made her a raving lunatic tsundere instead.
Missed opportunity if you asked me.
I dropped it when it started to become haremshit and stopped being funny. Plus, he wasn't much of a maou so it wasn't as interesting.
I still want to fuck Alsiel though.
>tfw no Alsiel to do stupid domestic bro shit with
>tfw no contentment with job you're really good at
>tfw no feeling at ease with and even fond towards your community
>tfw no Dullahan
What killed Hataraku threads were cancerous chiifags and Hitler comparisons.
we've been calling people worse than Hitler before world war I
No. Good guy.
Dullhan's death sort of signaled the end. It was Emi's presence began to really intensify.
It sucks too, because I was enjoying the fuck out of the series and then, well it's not that it became "bad", it just wasn't nearly as good.
Emi killed Maou
Second half wasn't as great because of padding and romcom, but I still enjoyed the show as whole.
The waifu wars and demon language ruined discussion, though.
Also, where's everyone getting second season never? The sales were well above average and there's plenty of material to adapt.
It wasn't about a demon conquering every step of the ladder in corporate Japan while a temp worker hero attempts to stop him at every turn. The entire thing should have felt like Pokemon from Team Rocket's perspective where Maou and Alsiel come up with new ways to cheat the system every week. The first episode was a hundred times better than the rest of this show because it was about them struggling and scheming through a world they didn't have a fucking clue about. Then week two onwards it might as well have just been the chuuni battles of a disgruntled McDonalds employee and his harem.
The fantasy backstories became the most painfully generic shit I've seen in anime in a long time and the way Maou got neutered into a total boy scout and everyone just accepts it is insultingly stupid. On top of that Chiho's entire character can be summed up as lusting after some guy she met a week ago for no reason. It brought down the whole show with how out of place and pointless it was and the constant preferential treatment from the anime director didn't help.
Not all, but some Chihofags who started shit with Emifags by attacking her was the reason Maou threads went to shit. If memory serves, that started some time around the time of the 2nd or 3rd episode. The anime director was a Chiho fan, and Chihofags got arrogant because of that, and that made things worse.
Yeah, pretty much. It didn't either help that Emi's bitterness towards Maou was played up for laughs either, which gave her a inconsistent tsundere vibe.
Given, I haven't actually read the light novels, but from my understanding, manga Emi was most dere, anime Emi was most tsun, and LN Emi was somewhere in between.
