I'm bored, let's have a Girls Und Panzer thread.

Post you favourite senshado legal tank.

Why is there a woman on the tank
Tanks are manly men's things and is sign of manly men doing manly things together in small confined spaces, like 80% of Matsumoto Leiji Anime but without the identical skinny blonde women. No homo.

I wish they would make anime of Peiper or Nishizumi or something.

Why can't we have anime of manly men doing manly things together instead of homosexual anime showings mall girl because of personal inadequacy of overweight and impotent target audience?

No idea what the second prototype would be, though.
>>
>>100676192

I like how sensible the prototypes in this game were. They actually look like things that could have been made. Like a KV-2 upgraded to IS-2 standard and hull, or a Stuart-sized flanker TD.
The game's historical missions were great too. It was mindblowing in its detail for the time and for a console game.

not to mention the RPG-28 is more powerful than the RPG-29
>>
>>100681219
That's the one where the RPG-29 was planted as an IED and fired point blank into the underside of the tank right?

And it only injured the driver and scared the crew?
>>
>>100681426
It hit the LFP, which was the strongest part of the armor, barring the turret. Hitting anywhere else that's not the frontal turret would have resulted in full penetration.
>>
>>100681410
It hit the lower glasis which is always a bit more vulnurable.

Anyways, one tank getting slightly damaged but returned to operations a day later is not bad going for a war.
>>
>>100681581
It hit under the LFP actually. It went straight up. No reactive armour underneath the tank.
>>
>>100681601
In the Challenger, Abrams and the Chieftains, the LFP is stronger than the UFP. The UFP is just sloped a lot so that it's unlikely for the penetrator to dig in and the HEAT warhead to fuse.

A conundrum fellows; this ARV seems to go by two names- JST-34 and BTT-1. Most of the pictures of it come from a captured example in an Israeli tank museum, where it's labeled as JST-34. According to a sketchily translated Czech site however, this is mis-labelled and its real name is the BTT-1. Why was it mis-labelled? The Israeli's must have come up against enough T-34 variants to know what they were looking at wasn't based on a T-34.

I've also come across a drawing of a very similar ARV fitted with a crane, apparently called the BTT-1M but this is the only example of one I've been able to find.

I'm not really expecting any answers I guess, but these threads always have me routing around dark corners of the internet looking for ARVs and I figured I'd share the results.

It's quite possible that early misidentification of it as a T-34 variant just stuck as the official nomenclature.

Note that NATO reporting names for Warsaw Pact equipment are generally completely different anyway; the concern isn't about what the Russians call it after all, but picking a name that's consistent.

It's based on the ISU-152, I assume? Just a wild guess, but the name could be a reference to the IS tank it's effectively based on as well.

It might be a badly proportioned IS-3 turret, it has those handles for infantry and the the gun muzzle looks like the one used on the 122 mm.

Yup, the JS bit's presumably due to that. It doesn't explain the T-34 bit though.
And you've got a point on the turret as well.

VK4502 perdates the Tiger II. They had 80mm upper plate IIRC and 88mm L/71.

M6A2E1 and T32 are good candidates.
T29 and T30 were approved in April 1945, but didn't get completed until 1947.
>>
>>100693913
I thought that the design had to be completed before the end of the war, not the tank itself.

Right?

The first T29 was completed in 45, the first T30 was completed in 47.

The VK4502 is kind of questionable, was anything aside the turret that was later used on the early Tiger II's actually made?.

>>100694291
IIRC no. Nothing was made. The turret eventually carried over to the Tiger II.

According to Firepower, here's a timeline:
Sept 14, 1944: recommendation of heavy tank development
March 12, 1945: procurement of 1200 T29s were recommended
April 12, 1945: procurement of T29s were approved
April, 1945: 4 additional pilot models authorized
August 23, 1945: number of pilot models reduced to 8
October 1947: First T29 made it to the proving ground

It's most likely that the T29 is out of question

http://worldoftanks.com/en/news/21/The_Chieftains_Hatch_T29T30/

>Subsequent action in March 1945 (OCM Items 26825, 27331, 27195, and 27195) recommended limited procurement of 1200 Heavy Tanks T29 and 504 Heavy Tanks T30. This was reduced to only 1,152 in mid-April 1945. However, with the end of the war, this requirement was reduced to 12 T29s and 12 T30s, only one vehicle having been completed prior to VJ Day (OCM Item 29633). At the same time, in order to obtain more diversified information from the vehicle tests, the use of the Code A 810-horsepower engine was specified for all of the T30 vehicles.

It wouldn't have the stereoscopic rangefinders like this fanart but whatever.
>>
>>100695100
The M26 Pershing was the only heavy tank that the US produced and used in world war II, so they'd be much more common and guaranteed to be legal.
>>
>>100695262
Well we were not discussing commonality, otherwise you should be asking how Black Forest got a Maus.
>>
>>100695446
Unless it were in a museum, I don't see how they couldn't manage to possess one. They were the best school, after all.
>>
>>100695100
Firepower only mentioned that the T29E1 was named that in Dec. 1945.

If only the heavy tank program wasn't cancelled. We'd be seeing those rangefinders on T34s and T30s.

No, Stalin did.
Mostly because Hitler was stupid and tried to invade Russia.
>>
>>100696541
More like Hitler was stupid for helping out Italy in Greece, delaying his invasion of Russia.
>>
>>100696541
Actually, German industrialists won WWII. If it wasn't for their attempt at profiteering and low efficiency, Germany might have stood a chance. At the beginning of Barbarossa, Germany had more industrial capacity compared to the USSR, especially so when the USSR had to relocate factories. Despite that, the USSR outproduced them.
>>
>>100696541
Stalin himself was completely unaware of the extent of the severity of the German invasion of Russia. His reaction, to quote it more or less, when told that the Germans had taken Minsk was "We've fucked up". The German invasion was a failure in the end, but Stalin himself hindered the defense of Russia more than helped.
