Is this worth watching?
>>
I's ok.
Nothing amazing, but it's not shit like Gosick.
>>
>>100653708
I'd watch it again, just for her voice.
>>
Yes. I've rewatched it twice already.
>>
>>100653708
<Yes.>
>>
In my opinions yes, I actually rewatched it once because of how much I enjoyed the way it looks.

>>100653787
Gosick was a good show too.
>>
Depends on your taste. Many love it, but it has is problems, like being too episodic.
>>
>>100653708
Yes, because VA.

This show really suffers, though, from having each episode be self contained.
>>
>>100653708

>>100653708
Mc was too much of a Gary stu and there was no overarching plot. It was decent recommend if you like gosick.
>>
>>100653708
Oh wow, this aired back in 2011. I feel so fucking old now.

no. it was shit all the way through.
>>
>>100654462
Gosick was terribad.
Kujo is shit, mysteries were shit, main plot is shit, ... Best part of the show was the fucking opening.
>>
>>100654504
>Mc was too much of a Gary stu
When a MC isn't a worthless piece of shit, he's automatically a Gary Stu. Nice to know.

Not fault he was written tinner than the paper we was drawn on.

I liked it. And yes, it's nice that the MC is not your average dumbass teenager.
>>
>>100654667
Like SAO?
>>
>>100654846
>he was written thinner than the paper we was drawn on
this. seriously, the only thing he had doing was a fighter pilot background and til the very last minute, it meant dick. there was nothing memorable about him, nor his actions. just a generic gary stu lead around by a walking library.

Hugh best MC.
>>
Wasn't this just another Gosick mystery anime spinoff? I made it past two episodes and then dropped it. Does it get any better? Thinking of picking it back up.
>>
>>100653708
Well the characters are amazingly bland cardboard cut-outs who never say anything interesting and while each episode is based on a decent dark idea like slowly replacing a village's inhabitants with marionettes, it's executed terribly and without any suspense at all.
Also the books' roles mostly amount to just having their name spoken and they're all random minor alchemy/science/religion stuff. No fun literary references, no clever episodes mirroring/twisting scenes from any books.

Bsically, just a heap of wasted potential.Still the visuals were p.good and I like the mood of the OP and ED. I ended up watching 8 eps.
>>
>>100653708
This show was boring as fuckt. Just a monster of the week show like KLK.
>>
>>100653708
Not too deep, but the characters and atmosphere were pleasant. Would watch again.
>>
>>100653787
Gosick had dual-wield Shinku taking on evil grannies from hell, that in itself was worth the wait.
>>
>>100656220

but it aired at the same time as go-sick
>>
>>100653708
If I liked Gosick will I like this too? From the synopsis I can see why people make the comparison.
>>
Anime is okay, has some nice Voice Acting, but the novels are plain better.
>>
>>100654780
Nah he really is a Gary stu. He doesn't emote/say anything interesting as they face horrific case after another, just calmly follows the loli until some thing happens which needs physical force to solve.
And when that time comes, the situation will be very black and white and MC will win so easily and quickly he barely even bothers to look relieved.
Contrast with Kino's Journey, which also has a capable, stoic protag observing horrific events but she reacts in far more interesting ways.
>>
I'd watch it for yes~ and that blonde chick, they make it alright. MC is alright as well if you ask me, but I guess I have incredibly low standards according to this thread.
>>
To much unused potential. I sat through all the episodes thinking, "Oh man this episode would have been great if they just changed this little detail." In the end I just felt a bit disapionted.

Huh, I thought /a/ liked this show?
It's certainly a very enjoyable thing to marathon. It's set an an era I love and I liked the mostly self-contained episodes.
Huey's also kinda cool.
>>
>>100653708
It wasn't bad. Can't remember much about it but I remember that it wasn't terrible.
>>
Yes, it is.
>>
It's mostly pretty shitty, but there are some good parts. The music is great.

He does have his good points.
He's very capable, doesnt blush about the blushing loli
and it's really nice to see some cool collectedness in an MC.
You'd normally see these traits in a suave villian(before they unravel anyway) or a side character. Great to see it in an MC.

But Huey doesnt make any interesting speeches or clever
remarks like others of this character type.
And he's very private- not much emotions or personal thoughts on show.

Cause of that he'd only be fun to watch when he's facing some difficulties.
And that never happens. No moral dilemmas, not even a
hint of suspense that he'll lose except in the last ep.
So yeah, wasted potential.

What actually was their background? Is there some big organisation which goes around burning magical books or were they vigilantes?

I'm one of those who think Lord Huey Anthony Diswardo's bland as unflavored rice porridge.
He's still a-ok compared to the majority of anime MCs.
Also I'm addicted to the yes~

>>
>>100663331
It'd be pretty wierd for a vigilante to name himself Libricide Officer. Officers are usually appointed. Then again he's a twisted pervert with a stick up his ass who ties up pretty young libraries so who knows.
>>
>>100656288

This killed it for me, not even a semblance of an arc at any point. Hell, one of the episodes, was even devoted to a damn spin-off duo of absolutely no consequence, what the hell was even going on with the directing here?
>>
>>100666486
An arcless, monster of the week series could still have worked if they had interesting cases or main characters. That's how Sherlock Holmes and Mushishi works.

I wonder how different the anime is from the source material.
>>
Mystery of the episode.

Always shit.
>>
Gosick Un-Go and Dantalian fags get in here.

That was a good year
>>
>>100669530
I tried so hard to like Un-Go i really did. Just couldn't get into it.
>>
I marathoned it alongside Gosick. While I didn't like the plot as much, Huey definitely made up for it. I'm looking for more shows in the 'guy finds mysterious girl in a library and goes on adventures' genre.
>>
Huey was a gentleman and a capable one at that. He was enjoyable to watch, to those that don't agree that's fine, but I'd personally take a calm MC with his subtle personality over the modern status quo any day.

I loved the characters, the setting and the story. But the anime was way too short and it did lack a consistent plot.
It makes me sed to see so much wastet potential.
Also best girl.
>>
>>100653708
I was watching it then stopped because I kinda got tired of her voice, it's damn annoying. Maybe I'll finish it someday. So far the mysteries aren't that great and it looks like they're just a cheap way to get books at the end of each episode though I liked the male MC. I hope it gets better when I resume it.
>>
>>100669530
Yeah, it added a lot to thw >s2 never list
>>
>>100669530
Damn my top 3 shows from that year.
>>
If you don't care that it's an episodic show about magic books, it's the best show of its kind.
