Don't get me wrong, Kaiki is/was a great character, but I've got another definition of "suffering".

Neko Shiro's ending was suffering for me, but the catharsis was almost worth it. But then I read the novel for it to see what I missed, and really, Hanekawa's life is pure suffering, do not pass GO do not collect 200 nekos. No loving family ever, rejected, never knowing your real parents. Too much suffering.
