Kyouko explains it really well early on. Sayaka's real wish, based on the outcome she wanted, was for him to become even more crippled so he would need to rely completely on her OR attribute his recovery solely to her support and continue to rely on her afterward.

Instead he got better and then he moved on, because her love was selfish.

Selfish love is sort of an ongoing theme in Madoka.
