Daily reminder that moe is the cancer killing anime
hey don't talk shit about Moe
>some of the top selling anime
>killing the industry
Reminder that the anime industry is selling far more titles than it did when these emails were written.
As much as it pains me to say this since I actually do like moe, it is contributing to a monoculture of anime oriented around selling waifus, rather than being deep, creative, or profound.
Stages Of An Anime Fan
Stage 1: Is introduced to a popular, entry-level anime film such as Akira or Ghost in the Shell by a friend. Proceeds to explore the most famous anime films such as the above, Ghibli movies, etc.
Stage 2: Discovers shonen series, likely Bleach on Adult Swim. Briefly becomes an IRL version of Rikka from Chuunibyou. Does not yet understand why /a/ trolls shonenshit threads. Will hate self for the rest of his natural life for this brief phase.
Stage 3: Mature / deepfag phase. Once he begins to realize shonenshit is shit, begins to seek out “deep” and critically acclaimed anime such as Tatami Galaxy, Evangelion, Lain, etc. Starts debating the meaning of these anime on /a/, as well as starts trolling shonenshit threads, suddenly feeling superior to the plebes in said threads.
Stage 4: Moefag, the final phase. Decides to try a moe series which /a/ seems to love, such as Aria, or more recently Non Non Biyori, etc… justifying it to self as for “purely academic reasons,” e.g. so they can troll or shittalk these series with an informed viewpoint. Ends up discovering that nothing is more peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable than watching cute girls doing cute things. Ends up realizing that all “deep and mature” anime are actually pretentious bullshit.
i'd be happier if the bad kyoani shows had other redeeming features than just moe
You are literally the cancer.
Moebros are /a/'s largest demographic. Perhaps you'd fit in better at MAL?
>Killing the industry
She is the industry.
I can't believe somebody actually typed this up
I've never read anything that I agree with more since Mein Kampf
A diet of mere hedonism and vaguely-sexual longing for adolescence is not fulfilling.
Why do you want to reject actually thinking about anything more complicated than warm fuzzies and tedious repetition of an everyday life? Is it because you're intellectually stunted? Or you just want to merge your existence with pure indolent eat-drink-fap-sleep cycles into your waning years?
Or I guess maybe you stimulate your intellect elsewhere, I don't know. I'd argue that anime can tackle serious issues as well as film, if they actually try.
t-this is pasta right?
Being god, Haruhi created the industry to suit her whims three years ago. Then robot aliens and time travelers came down to monitor her. People only think that the series is from 2003.
It's common knowledge.
Have people seriously not seen that before?
Saving, you mean?
>otaku are what's keeping the fucking industry alive
But m-muh Death Note! Muh edge! Muh deep, intricate cartoon plots!
Moe isn't a genre.
Cuteness and moe will be around no matter what, maybe you should go look for a new medium
The main thing KyoAni did was start the LN adaption craze, which is annoying for people in the west because you can't continue where the adaption left off easy.
>calling Haruhi moe
Do you even know the meaning of the word?
>Why do you want to reject actually thinking about anything more complicated than warm fuzzies and tedious repetition of an everyday life?
Because that type of thing isn't what anime is good at. If I wanted that I'd read a good book. Anime is pretty much always terrible at that sort of thing because its target demographic is too young. What anime excels at better than any other media is escapism through moe.
>JUSTIN BIEBER IS A GUD SINGUR BECUZ HE SELLS SO MOOCH OMG
Mikuru-chan is moemoe, though.
Why are you people responding to this thread
What do you think "industry" means?
>implying MAL actually cares about fedora edgy animu
All they care about is fucking SNK and Gintama
Suzumiya moe? What? That one character? ONE?
But that isn't what anon is arguing.
It's like saying that Justin Bieber is popular, therefor the music industry is going bankrupt and will disappear soon.
There's no other medium other than manga than can give me cute little girls doing cute things. If I want some deep mature story I'll rewatch Jacob's Ladder.
>creating a false dichotomy between watching moe anime and watching "manly" anime
this guy gets it.
Damn, how new are the most of you.
It´s corrupting the industry, making it lazy, if you see that a teenager with a girl´s voice sells millions why make an effort to look for talent? fuck why? Likewise if they see that a show about girls eating cake sells shitloads, why on earth would you want to hire writers or think of something clever? no, fuck that, let´s put more moe on the screen.
>not living in a binary reality
>Unironic mentioning of Justin Bieber when he's pretty much a used up wigger at this point.
You guys couldn't even troll /mu/ right.
This is /a/, no one knows anything about the real world.
I'd like to see an anime about teenagers as baked good connoisseurs.
Although that's basically the plot to those weird Toradora-chibi OVAs, so I guess it already exists.
I liked Haruhi and Nichijou.
The moe industry is growing stagnant. I have a solution.
One of my biggest hobbies is following the careers of the newest teen pop idols, watching and waiting for their inevitable spiraling nosedive of hedonism and self-destruction early death.
Which is weird.
Bieber's still doing alright, isn't he?
>no, fuck that, let´s put more moe on the screen.
i agree wholeheartedly anon
One of my biggest hobbies is following the careers of the newest teen pop idols, watching and waiting for their inevitable spiraling nosedive of hedonism and self-destruction and early death.
Depends on your definition of "alright".
That's identical to the post you just deleted, except now you have the reply link doubled.
Darker than Black was really dumb though. It's the anime equivalent of a comic book movie, they had to double down on spectacle in order to paper over how stupid it is.
You don´t get it do you?
Hold on there. Nichijou is a decent slice-of-life with soft humour and relaxing non-sexual setting.
K-On on the other hand is actual moe with more shipping than homestuck, except that it is yuri-only and its jokes are not meant to be funny but portray the characters in a cute way. You cant put them in the same category just because they were animated by the same studio.
I added an "and".
>more shipping than homestuck
Are you fucking serious? As SoL shows with "yuri subtext" go, it barely even registers on the goggleometer.
Get this thread out of here.
The only yuri vibes in K-ON come from Mugi and Sawa. Objectively.
You just need to add some azunyan to it and there you go.
Keep wallowing in your own filth you disgusting faggot.
Keep to yourself in a dark corner with the rest of your like minded kind, circle-jerking about the same things everyday.
Fucking autist, are you so afraid of new things or formats?
Do you seriously expect anything else from this thread?
Lurk more newshit fuck.
The last time I had any sympathy towards teen idols was Gary Coleman and Lindsey Lohan.
Well Gary wasn't even an idol, he was a catchphrase machine that died unloved.
Reminder that nothing is killing anime because Inferno Cop saved anime and it can't die until he does, and justice never dies.
Nichijou was a step in the right direciton.
What the fuck happened?
Nobody bought it
Hyouka was a very good anime though.
I don't think even people who despise moe could argue it wasn't.
Why did I even bother?
OP here, I don´t hate moe when it is used wisely, take for instance eden of the east, characters have moe traits, but they have something to say nevertheless.
Moe is killing itself.
Which is good: wouldn't want moe NOT killing themselves now, would you?
who is you are favorite kyoani
Why are you still posting in this thread? Just let it die.
Fuck Sakura Trick. It is not good.
>he's mad his favorite show isn't as liked as ST
When you get duped into replying to a troll, it's easy to not want to let it drop. That would be admitting defeat.
>OP DOESN´T LIKE MOE
>HE MUST BE TROLLING BECUZ I DO
>OP DOESN´T LIKE MOE
Do you enjoy feeling bad or what?
Starting a thread with "reminder that <XXX that is going to start an argument>" is trolling.
Just because you believe what you're saying doesn't mean that you're not saying it to get a rise out of people.
>not skipping shonenshit entirely
No need to be embarrased, we've all replied to trolls and shitposters before.
Maybe he's like Kirei. He only likes suffering.
I don't know why but I don't like Kyoani moe.
It's just bland and has no soul.
Why are you replying to that post? He knows he's fucking trolling. Stop it.
Ah, i love watching the newkids skirm and moan about moe, i give you half a year before you either leave or become one of us.
Hey man, Bleach is actually pretty good until Rukia gets saved.
This. I skipped stage 3 though.
The only thing KyoAni "made" that had a large influence was Haruhi, and even then nearly every production decision was Kadokawa's. Anime studios aren't the engine that drives the industry, it's the companies that actually produce it, fund it, and make the profit (Kadokawa, TBS, Aniplex, etc.)
And even then it's not a matter of "moe or not moe." It's shitty LN adaptation to promote the source versus whatever else otherwise.
I don't know why I'm responding seriously to this thread.
>No stage 5 where you eventually grow to love anime of all forms and still see the flaws of many of the series you watch to where you yourself know that no anime is perfect, but can still be enjoyed despite that.
I went from stage 1 straight to stage 4.
moe is not the cancer.
moe supporters are the cancer.
Because you're bored and a faget, don't worry.
>to where you yourself know that no anime is perfect
But Aria is perfect, anon.
There's no Kyoani cuter than Mochizou.
Has someone ever reached that stage?
No. People say they have to look cool but everyone has their preferences and dislikes.
The true stage 5 is getting bored with anime and permanently migrating to either /jp/ where you fap to Touhous or /d/ where you fap to dickgirls.
but shounen is literal garbage. at its best it is filler-filled powerlevel crap with 300 episodes kids waste their time on insted of doing something with friends, at its worst it is commercialized shit made only to sell you trading cards. I am glad dragon ball was the only thing I watched as a kid.
>Not liking JoJo
Signs of a a Niwaka Otaku (the worst type otaku, who wants to be an Otaku, but fails.):
thinks K-ON! and Angel Beats are fun anime
Recommend to people Bakemonogatari and K-ON!
Not hiding powerlevel
Talking about anime openly
Love Madoka and K-on!
Care about BD sales
Have only seen Eva Rebuild, never finished the TV series
The people who love K-ON last year, and now into Madoka
>京アニ 好きなやつはにわか率 １００％
KyoAni fanbase niwaka 100%
SHAFT fanbase niwaka 70%
fav VN studio : key, AKABEi and Nitro+
I need my moeshit to balance out my edgyshit.
JoJo is not shounen. If I watched it as a kid I would find it cringe-worthy and gay. If I watched it now, I would value it for the costumes, well-drawn bodies and art in general.
Man, remember when "niwaka" was the latest cool insult on /a/ even though no one actually knew what it meant? I'm glad we passed that phase relatively quickly.
>JoJo is not shounen
>I think shounen is shit, therefore if something isn't shit it can't be shounen
JoJo is literally every 80's shonen cliche in one intentionally-terrible anime.
I think i did stage 2 and 1 in reverse.
It's 2014 and I still love K-ON and you can't stop me faggot.
Why is it not shounen?
Just admit it's good, and you like it.
because it has value above the main plot and power levels which can appeal to older audiences. just like fist of the north star.
I´m sorry to hear you brain stopped working, here have an azunyan.
At least they finally got the eyes right in 07
It's embarrassingly cheesy and gay. I'd rather watch Bleach. At least that has some nice T&A in the place of crossdressing faggots.
You forgot stage 5 Satori enlightened demi god. Just give me something to fap to
So is Toradora a shounen?
Yes, those are exactly the things that people use to identify shonen.
You will never know true joy then.
Stage 5 is withdrawal from the disappointment that is reality as one becomes fixated on a single character
Stage 6 is enlightment followed by ritualistic suicide to join one's waifu in nonexistence.
I said above power levels. things such as nostalgic feelings for old animation, unique character designs, cheesy plot (cheesy in a good way, like an unintentionally funny zombie movie)
> things such as nostalgic feelings for old animation
So all old shounen is actually seinen
Shonen isn't a genre
THANK YOU BASED INFERNO COP
>shounen isn´t a genre
Moe is fine as long as it's an element within a show. Being moe just for the sake of cute girl doing cute thing is an evidence of lacking originality and creative ideas. I wonder why /a/ loses its edge every time the topic of moe is brought up.
Once upon the time, doing mundane things within an ongoing show is fillershit. Now, filler has become the show. That said, the number of purely "moe" show is actually far less than what people assume due to the fact that moe elements are abundant in almost every show they see.
Shounen isn't a genre.
This is actually pretty true. Though I started at phase 2 more so. Started with Sailor Moon then Toonami -> Midnight Run -> adult swim
So my stage 2 and 3 were a little mixed cause I was exposed to stuff like Gundam 0080 and Witch Hunter Robin and Wolf's Rain, which I would say a "deeper" than your average Naruto episode.
I'm happy enjoying all genres now though. I think it's more an evolution of coming to enjoy ALL ANIME GENRES rather an you go from only liking one type to the next type. Like when you're younger and think you're only good enough for like Fairy Tale or on the other hand Egro Proxy. As season anime viewer, you can see the strengths in everything.
I can sit down and watch Chuu2, Wizard Barristers and Nagi no Asukara all in the same season and love them all the same.
It's a demographic. Typically hwen someone mentions shonen and manga they're talking about a marketing demographic. But there's mouth breathers that refer to shonen as a genre.
>SOL is a new genre
my little anon can't be this braindead
>I don't know how to read
