THIS SHOW.
I dont know how to put a finger on its comedy style, but god do they do it well. They've been subverting anime tropes left and right in really clever ways that cut out the fat and dull parts we've seen again and again.
>MC doesnt balance his secret identity against his home life.
>MC is an antisocial introvert who sleeps through school so we dont have to watch any of that either.
>The jokes are written and timed almost perfectly, none of them rely on obvious ecchi jokes like Venera wearing no clothing, and aren't over-explained or over-reacted to.
As a result when the show does decide to go over the top, it has the appropriate tone.

Yes, "oh god this food is so bad" is a cliche by this point, but when the MC's reaction is an out of body near death experience where the life of THE UNIVERSE ITSELF flashes before his eyes, well, yeah.

Also, hidden behind pic related's head is a no smoking sign. Nobody comments about his behavior.

I don't see him smoking, he's holding a cigarette sure, but he's not smoking

That's the joke.jpg

he's only pretending to smoke because he wants to be edgy
