What is /a/'s opinion of Busou Renkin? I remember watching it when I was younger and loving it but it's one of those that I just can't bring myself to rewatch anymore seeing as how I'm no longer going through puberty.
Dead before it's time.
I read the manga when it was being scanlated by... I forget who, it was the group that did most of xxxHoLiC and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.
The plot was kind of interesting, and I enjoyed the action scenes and the monster designs. The idea behind the Renkins was interesting too. But I guess it just wasn't good enough, since it ended at volume 10. And I don't even care enough about it to go back and read the last three volumes that I never read.
Agreed. The only thing that led me to reading/watching it was the fact that it was written by Nobuhiro Watsuki. I loved it at the time but I've grown out of it and that makes me sad :/
The original and best "WOW WOW".
>WHOA WHOA DA DADA DADADADA
First anime I watched subbed. It was great.
This was one of my first anime. Fuck it, time for a rewatch.
Papillon was probably the best part of the first half of the series.
I think he ends up becoming a superhuman at the end?
Tokiko would be my waifu if her OTPower with Kazuki wasn't so strong.
The plot flew out of the window some where around the middle but the characters are quite nice.
OP is phenomenal, probably in the top 10 of the decade.
Don't know a thing about the show, though I hear it's pretty mediocre. Not bad, just mediocre.
only watched the anime and loved it but much of it was because of nostalgia. I watched it at 27yo and got a huge rush of one of the things I loved about traditional shounen.
>Paragon MC wants to save everyone.
>waifu-tier kuudere love interest with a sexy scar
>Fabulous villain that goes tsundere for MC
excellent in a lot of ways except it felt to... traditional for me.
I found this right in the middle of puberty. Same with Eureka Seven. Perfect time for those shows.
Seinfeld is rather "traditional" but it's still great.
Twincest is best cest. Hayasaka siblings are one of my favorite couples.
is this from the manga? it's hilarious
This scene led me to develop my love of giving males incredibly large and square chins.
Greatest shounen ever. Good protag, awesome love interest, cool villains and fights, not too long and doesn't overstay its welcome.
I'm still holding out for a sequel series.
That backstory for them was so fucked up, I loved it
Sure, once Watsuki learns to let go for Samurai X
I didn't watch it, but the manga was phenomenal, it never tried to be anything more than what it was and what it was was great
Generic as much as it's possible.
shounen done right
well, according to the anime he's one of the biggest of his group of friends, although his inceuous enemy's penis is much more "wonderful" than theirs.
Pretty much this. The show has staying power because its sets the standards of a "good" shounen.
>Good protag, enough room to self insert but interesting enough to have his own personality
>interesting concept behind powers
>love interest with redeeming traits
>great fights and villains
>one or two scenes that can hit you in the feels
>good length, fulfilling ending
It's not that the show does any one thing great, it just does every single thing "good", which in turn makes it great. The show really doesn't have any glaring problems, you can't really say "the show was great except for X" because everything was just pretty much just good. More shounen need to follow its example.
Don't forget the excellent pacing and even arcs.
I like the mannga better, but I guess they're pretty much the same.
meh it was ok, but what WAS that end?
I completely forgot about it until this thread, and I think that sums up everything about it.
