ITT: Shounen anime that /a/ actually likes
I've never seen /a/ hate D.Gray Man.
Obviously you haven't read the manga.
Lots of people hate the manga. I don't think I've ever seen anyone really talk about the anime. The thing is with things /a/ doesn't talk about is that you have absolutely no idea what they think of it.
Because no one watched it.
Must be pretty new.
/a/ doesn't hate Shaman King right?
I think so at least.
Nobody hates HnK
Never been to /v/, /m/ or /tg/ huh?
didn't watch it but I like'd yoh's laid back attitude and severe lack of shirt
I've never seen one bad thing said about Busou Renkin on /a/.
Why would I visit such shit places?
Sometimes I think that anons refer to shounen as a genre, not as a demographic classification
It is literally impossible to hate Yakitate.
I don't think I've seen anybody hate that on /a/.
Konjiki no Gash
I've always seen positive things for Gash bell.
Sunlight heart is a shit name
Fuck the manga ending.
You can't feel anything about Gash other than sadness.
>Not realizing immediately HiatusxHiatus is /a/s favorite shounen.
Fuck the anime ending too.
Dat Hao wrecking shit everywhere, then suddenly Yoh back at his house.
It's fucking great. Powerlevels escalate nicely, some fights are pretty damn interesting, and the characters are fun. What's not to like?
I've always seen good things when it came to HxH except the massive delays.
I see FOTNS praised a lot but is it really that good? I mean it just looks like a more boring DBZ to me.
Dammit Shaman King, you had two chances to have a remotely good ending, and you threw it away both times.
>I mean it just looks like a more boring DBZ to me.
Hell, I dropped HxH after like ten volumes but that wasn't even because I particularly disliked it, it just wasn't my thing.
Please tell me this is a weak attempt at trolling.
I know it's b8 but mondaiji was very likable.
You can say that again, in fact say it 3 more times.
Yoh's like "fuck this shit Hao, I'm going back home".
It's probably for the better.
I hate that piece of shit so much. I could have tolerated the BeyBlade esque universe bullshit, but nope, had to throw in completely unlikeable characters with shit character designs. I can't even imagine 11 year olds finding this good.
I love that show.
The main girl was ugly.
D.Gray-man got totally shit after the author got injured. Terrible art and a story as incomprehensible as Oh!Great.
But what about before?
Jeez calm down turbonerds, I was just asking. Guy looks like Goku to me is all.
Rurouni Kenshin is probably the least hateable I can think of, all the characters are great and believable which is something that usually puts me off of shounen.
It was alright. The anime was alright too, it was a pretty close adaptation of the manga.
I take my anime very seriously.
>Guys looks like Goku
I currently have nothing to do with this, but you sir are amusing.
DBZ scum should be rounded up and shot.
Remember the time author claimed princess Hao was the true ending?
>There are people on /a/ who think DBZ can touch the quality and story of Hokuto no Ken
Can we have a moment of silence?
Yeah /a/ loves that. I hardly see any complaints. Just laid back fun.
Why would you hate dgm? The art is nice and it surprisingly doesn't have annoying protagonist for a shounen manga.
Unfortunately they are a very vocal majority, almost all of them being nostalgic nigh-30 year old fags who have 'fond' memories of watching it Toonami.
But it has even less story than DBZ.
>People think DBZ was the first anime ever and everything with attributes in common with it must be TOTALLY COPYING GUYS
I found it really boring. Like really, really boring. I enjoyed the oneshot a lot better than the actual series.
I think he means QUALITY
The most recent shounen series that I recall really enjoying was Blood Lad.
it got better. that entire team was pretty much trashed, only four of those are used. everyone else is filler/replaced.
Have you actually read it?
Everyone liked the FMA manga.
Yes, I like the manga a lot.
I like D.Gray man ;_;
So you're brain dead is what you're saying.
Well, at least every time I've seen it talked about
Indeed. Was good.
Shit man, I watched that growing up and I'm 19. Even back then though I saw it's flaws though it's still better than Fist of the North Star.
>Guy looks like Goku to me is all.
That manliness vs Goku's monkey face and tail.
The pacing has been pretty bad and it's getting painful to read because of how long it takes between releases. It feels like Alan gets some super powerup every arc just for it to be thrown away as unimportant the next. It's not a terrible series, but I wouldn't call it a great one either. It's a 6/10 for me.
And girl voice.
So you just shit taste as an excuse instead of nostalgia.
Then you have shit taste.
And shit personality
And overall retarded qualities .
Is Sai a guy or a girl?
Here is a bad guy trying to destroy universe.Oh we beat him.Oh now another man trying to destroy universe.Oh we beat him.
Not that guy, but it wasn't bad until the start of the arc with the lvl 4 akuma. Then it was total, complete, unmitigated shit, and the art went to pot along with the story. Characters I couldn't identify or remember popped up all over the place.
But up to that point it was passably decent. I liked Tiki Mik.
Turn to complete fucking shit after the Pierrot arc
I see /v/ is here again.
Yeah but it's entertaining shit. And the ninja fight was good.
>all the characters are great and believable
STOPPED READING THERE
Sai is a man. I think he was even a bit of a player if i remember right, teaching the ladies of his Lords house how to play while they mirin
This is what HxHfags believe
Nobody hates it because nobody gives a shit about it
hey isn't this a bread show? Why are they fighting?>>100570734
>/a/s favorite shounen.
You mean One Piece?
Pretty much this. It was a boring mediocre show.
Always funny to see that every manga by this duo gets instantly forgotten after it finishes
YOU COULD MAKE AN UNBREAKEBLE BOND
THE WORLD AROUND YOU IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
Bread is serious fucking business man. People are killed horribly and often for the sake of delicious gluteny goodness, and bread fight tournaments are commonplace.
Moeblob shows are shounen
Despite the fact that it only had one decent arc and a shitty ending. Lost of love for this here though might be nostalgia.
Dub was also not shit
>thinking shonen means battle series
>not posting the best shonen series in this thread.
The characters are good enough for people to ignore its flaws.
different anon, the show was definitely shit, but surprisingly the manga was really good?
I was actually shocked at how well done the manga was, but christ that anime was awful
>dub was not shit
>your a meshy! Your a meshy!
All of them. K-On to nichijou to syd. I know I'm making a controversial statement here
No, it's just wrong.
>but surprisingly the manga was really good?
Really? I might check it out if that's true. For an anime with 52 episodes, I'm pretty disappointed that it never really went anywhere.
K-on is seinen. Nichijou is shounen and I don't know or care abut the last. Well you're at least 1 out of 3.
HxH and One Piece are /a/'s favorite battle shounen. They're both the only good ones around currently.
No, k-on is shounen
>Not Jojo but HxH and One Piece
I don't think there's help for your kind of retardation I'm sorry.
Nope, it is Seinen
Jojo stopped being a shounen years ago.
It isn't. This isn't a matter of opinion or anything. K-on ran in Manga Time Kirara, a seinen magazine, therefore it's seinen. End of story. This is a simple fact. Denying this means you're either retarded or only pretending. However, since an outside observer can't tell the difference, I'll just assume you're retarded.
And it is, that's why I'm saying it's controversial, with you getting mad like that
no, it was shit
It's not controversial. It's just wrong. That's fact.
Manga time kirara caters to boys under the allure of pretending to cater to men.
Oh god, why are you so stupid?
It can be both
And K-On is the only one? You're fucking retarded.
It enfuriates you. And I was dropped on the head as a child
Are you calling Aria shit?
Now that's an opinion.
still my favorite
There are lots of people who call Aria utterly boring. I don't know why this is some kind of surprise to you.
I love YYH. It's got some awesome fights, interesting characters, a great OST, and cool powers. It has its flaws, but over great anime and manga.
Of course. How genius to get a whole new audience with just one series
Oh yeah, Jojo too.
I meant in dozens and dozens of other magazines. Even if you have some stupid conspiracy theory, that doesn't make something outside its demographic. That's how you get retards calling SnK and DN seinen. The magazine is all that counts. If other people read it, then that's good for them. But that's not who the magazine is being targeted to.
I reject the premise that it should be judged by target audience rather than actual audience
kenichi the mightiest disciple
Then you will forever be called an idiot. It's a simple thing. What is One Piece supposed to be then? Multi-demographic? A lot of the JUMP series are half read by girls. What happens if suddenly some demographics out of left field suddenly finds it interesting? You may as well get rid of the term demographic. And then what? No categorisation makes sense anymore. This is what they mean. Any other meaning is stupid.
The MC is too much of a moralfag for my taste.
You're so smart anon, I want to swallow your wise juices
I can't tell you just how cathartic it was for me when Jump dropped the author, injury aside the delays on her chapters got irritating to the point where I would rather have seen the series ended.
I don't remember, the MC won the girl at the end right?
Did they kiss?
To be honest, I actually hated this series.
The MC was legitimately retarded, and it was like the whole point of the show is that when you have a problem you can typically solve it by punching the shit out of it.
>the whole point of the show is that when you have a problem you can typically solve it by punching the shit out of it.
Yea that was the point. It wasnt meant to be anything deep. Not everything needs to have substance, its just something you watch for fuck of it
I liked the MC
That is the point. Fuck all that peace and friendship bullshit, just beat the shit out of people till you get your way.
Who was fist?
Did /a/ have a problem with Samurai Champloo? I don't think I've ever seen it discussed here. I personally liked it, but I wanna know if /a/ had any major problems with it.
/a/ generally likes Champloo. It has discussions every now and again.
Does /a/ like Ao no Exorcist?
Not really. Luke-warm reaction, mostly thinking it's mediocre. And then random people forcing it as fujoshit. The anime original content is pretty bad in my opinion.
Had a good K-Pop ED.
I read this once a year these days, delays forever. Sure she keeps getting RSI or something else, but there are times when it felt like it dragged, particularly once it became monthly.
The only decent dub 4kids ever did. Its too bad the soccer mom's bitching about it is what caused them to go to shit no matter what series they were doing.
I hate the last arc
it's maybe have a few flaws, but this is pure fun
Ending was easily the worst part of an otherwise really decent manga. And no, nothing happens between the two of them.
>actually having any good battles
I'm at the Chimera Ant. I can't think of any battles that didn't last 1-2 minutes and weren't completely one-sided. I don't know what happened, especially considering YYH had amazing fights.
Kazumas tend to be decently enjoyable MCs.
It's a shame only a handful of /a/ know and like this. 250+ episodes seems daunting for many.
the first 10 episodes maybe
Shamn King's cool. No hate. Above average even.
Soul Eater was better though.
That's because they lack taste and need constant action or a plot to enjoy something.
It is generally well received, although a lot of people consider it an "entry level" show so that is somewhat looked down on. Still, I loved Champloo. Likable characters, great fight scenes, hilarious setting, and amazing music.
"Entry Level" means what it means. It is not derigatory in anyway.
It just means it's either a show that is easily accesible for newbies in anime. Or it has merits that would allow easy integration from non anime watchers to help them ease in with the tropes found in anime.
>somewhat looked down on
Not really. It's just never really talked about.
I id at first, and then it just got gayer and gayer.
I miss Medaka Box threads.
Fuck yes. It's crazy to the point where it's impossible to dislike. The only hate for it I've seen is about the character designs which is fair enough as some of them are pretty dumb.
Never seen anyone shit on Hajime no Ippo or Eyeshield 21.
Then again the population of people who like sports manga on /a/ is really low
>If only more scanlations
>Have all 10 volumes
>Devil loli wins the adam
>Powerlevels escalate nicely
Let's be honest though, that final fight was power of friendship pants on head retarded. Still loved it, but it was dumb as a bucket of donkey dicks.
this series is a hidden gem. i wish more ppl loved it like i do
Look at the most reposted images on /a/. Our lord and savior Kubo-sama-dono-san-chan holds number 3.
I feel like Bleach has fallen way out of popularity since 08-09 and that JoJo and One Piece are more popular here, and so was Medaka Box
If HxH was going, it would be too
I hate it.
I have only started reading the manga, but who is the guy who looks like Gin with the headpiece and sword? He is to the left and above him in this pic.
Nope. Not when Eiji is Hokuto no Chirico.
I did like D.Gray Man while it lasted as a anime. Don't really care much about the manga now
Eh, it was pretty good. The fact that i kinda remember it means it was at least enjoyable, because i was reading it back when i was just picking mango randomly and read through shitloads of titles.
I actually can't remember most of the manga i read back then fucking hell, i wish i was using MAL.
It was exactly what Naruto should have been.
YYH really didn't have great fights, especially the anime. They're drawn out, with footage constantly reused, and try too hard to build up tension. I'm saying this as someone who really likes YYH and am actually currently re-watching it.
I just realized I watched this up until like the last 4 episodes and never finished. Four years ago. Thank you so much for reminding me.
I put this on hold because lack of scans
is the ending good? loli winning is always a plus but does it look good?
Duration has nothing to do with quality. If battles are quick that only means the show cuts down on menacing stares, onlooker commentary, and shit pacing.
Jojo of course, pre-SBR counts.
Doesn't /a/ love TTGL? Or does that not count?
Representation of antivirus for Tama OS.
There is only one true answer
Watch animu, it's good.
It's pretty much a D Gray Man clone
It was legitimately good at first. I'm just sad because it's pretty much dropped off the face of the earth and it got more and more convoluted every time it went on hiatus
It's a D Gray Man clone with friendship power, which certainly makes it thousand times better than DGM
No one likes one piece of shit.
MC is Gon tier annoying
Although right now I've really been liking Yowamushi Pedal enough to download thirty two volumes of it. I don't think I've ever made it that far with any other shonen besides JJBA.
He used to kick so much ass.
You're kidding. Even in the ant arc there are times when the characters are stuck biding their time waiting for a chance to find an exploit in the opponent's strategy. That's not one-sided at all. One-sided fights are fights that begin with a beatdown from one character and end with that character taking no damage whatsoever. Even when Killua was fighting octo-dude he still got pretty messed up. Same with Gon being tracked from the air by the ant that could fly. Gon and Killua stomped Rammot when they first encountered him, then Rammot returned the favor, then Killua and Rammot exchanged some blows the final time with Killua taking the advantage in the last minutes. Pay more attention.
First day on /a/?
