So I'm kind of new to this part of the world I guess you could say. Feeling a need to know my roots, I've been going through well-known older series. Of course, this meant watching Evangelion. And I did. And the End of Evangelion. And I really need to ask, is it normal to not understand at all what the fuck went on but to still want to suck off a pistol? Seriously, is there any piece of common knowledge I'm missing that will somehow reconcile it all?
Nope. And I haven't watched it either.
There really is no basic anime everyone has seen. Just watch what appeals to you.
Do you like the new McDonalds burger?
just move on to another series
>Seriously, is there any piece of common knowledge I'm missing that will somehow reconcile it all?
everyone can choose to return to a physical state, Asuka and Shinji now have all the time in the world to sort out their fucked-up lives and fall in love with each other.
lol i tryed that, the point of eva was not to make you understand but instead for the writers to say "look were philosophical lol" uhhh bascically if u want to comit suicide to that u should stop watching anime now and kill urself.
you need to take spelling lessons. Either that or run your posts through a spellchecker
critizing someone for their bad spelling on 4chan is like hitting a dead baby with a bat and asking it to come alive, no matter what u still phail and the baby is still dead.
There's 10 years worth of people's thoughts on the deeper meaning behind the series on the internet, if you care. Or you can just shrug it off and move on.
Personally a bit of research helped me understand it a bit better but I never obsessed about it.
That is the WORST fucking analogy I've ever heard. Kill yourself you fucking idiot.
So the sense I'm getting is I should dismiss it as a mind-fuck, give up on a solid interpretation, and move on?
Actually if you take a moment to actually look around /a/ you will realize that only new posters use chatspeak and they are usually flamed considerably for it.
if you compare 4chan to most other forums on the web, you'll find we usually have FAR better spelling. The posts are still shit, but at least they're articulate
Care to give me a start on where? Discussion I've found has been pretty worthless.
No. There's certainly many themes and concepts (some of them legit, some of them batshit insane) to explore if you care to.
It's just that most of /a/ doesn't care to because of the hype.
Let me introduce you to a few friends of mine.
>. , ; :
I hope you become good friends together.
I saw the first episode and sried that I had wasted 22 minutes of my life. Just watch something else, most anime is better.
it was a well placed, well thought out analogy, I THINK YOU, my friend, SHOULD KILL URSELF, for u suck and cannot come up with your own well thought out analogy.Your one opinion phails to top my superior
my advise: watch movie again, read wikki, send Hideaki Anno hate mail
Here's my analogy.
You and my intestines have alot in common.
They're both full of shit.
Fuck off back to whatever shit Forum you came from, faggot.
http://www.evamonkey.com/ - mostly dead but some of the links still work

you both are fucking idiots
ITT Newfags and trolls
>ITB Newfags and trolls
fix'd in advanced
NEEDS MOAR RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
not complex enough, too easy to say, needs moar rant to make it appear stronger, that sounds like some kind of crappy joke that u hear from ur 2nd grade brother. : ' (
i come from a land where "canon" is whatever the original creator produced/published first. Are Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion even considered canon?
Uh... yes. It's not even a spin off series or an alternate universe so there's really no argument for it not being canon.
wellllll... the original creators published the manga first. The TV series is utterly awesome but i'm ignoring it as canon; apparently "The End of Evangelion" is the closest to the manga version. Am I wrong?
The manga started publication a month before ep 1. However, it's still not finished. So when it comes to the ending, no one outside of its creators knows.
ayup it's not over til the fat lady sings. But: vol 11 here is very similar to EOE.
Manga: Feb 1994
TV: Oct 1995
Use caution, lest ye be exposed to facts
I was working from memory, so I messed up. Other anon did too as he wrote Feb 1994, when he meant Feb 1995. Which actually means the manga started in Dec of 2004, since that's when the Feb 05 issue was published, but this is needlessly accurate.
The endings of Eva make no sense from a plot perspective. Just accept that, and you'll feel a lot better. The endings are more about Shinji and his personal problems, and if/how he overcomes them.
As for the anime that everyone has seen, I'd say it's either DBZ (shitsucks, I know), or the awesome Cowboy Bebop. Really, who here hasn't seen Cowboy Bebop?
JESUS WHERE'S GRAMMAR NAZI WHEN YOU NEED HIM?!
enjoy End of Eva for what it is and move on. there are too many red herings to throw shit off, basically the movie was in response to all the angry fans, and to help channel Ano's depression. there is no greater meaning in it other than 'people suck, live life to its potential regardless' or something like that.
