Did anyone else feel like this show could have done with more?

or do i have to accept that being feed forced drama for so long i will never enjoy slow paced anime again?
>>
Protip: read the manga.
The anime is another shitty JC Staff adaptation not worth watching.

Its on my list to read

did they stray from the original plot much? or will i for the better part be re-reading what i just watched?

It's not that they strayed from it, it's that they handled everything badly, and they added those awful cats. You'll be re-reading but it'll feel different.
I'm only talking about the first season, but I really doubt the second one was any better.

B-but I loved it.

I loved it, it's just not for everyone.
I don't think the drama was forced, though in season 2 it's really pushed a step further, almost every episode left me teary-eyed. It's mostly thanks to the OST though, damn music is my weak point.

Those cats were horrible.

I just finished the second season and little to nothing was changed from the first.
