I am out of touch with /a/ for some time. Could someone explain why so many threads about this guy?
Who said it needed saving?
Saving anime with 13-18 yr olds in swimsuits.
he's so moe
Wake Up Street Ladies!
THANK YOU BASED YAMAKAN
Where's your daily prayer for our lord savior?
I will save Anime!
Bad shop, great idea.
You need to polish Yamakan head more.
D-does it get better?
Yes, I give you 7/10.
>mfw producer-san in WUG is Yamakan self-insert
Yamakan is their producer in real life.
After seeing /a/'s praise on this board and yama's disgust of that other guy, I thought he would be producing thoughtful anime with deeper stories.
Instead he creates shitty idol shows that pander to idolizers. Why do people keep saying anime is saved? I think he's just as pandering as harem anime if not worse.
Do you know what "irony" means?
In fact the series is just a light version of their real life counterparts. We can assume he has already fucked all the VAs at least once.
what anime is this
I don't follow idol genre gossip. So after the guy badmouths the other guy, he goes and makes pandering anime.
Got it thanks.
Oh look, he's going to direct some awful show again and blame moe when it fails.
KLK, Space Dandy are doing it well
Our saviour, undaunted by his previous colossal failures in 2011, has decided to return and once again try and save anime.
More like he has badmouthed the entire industry for producing nothing but pandering shit. The ironic part is that he's directing (again) the most obvious pandering shit in a while.
Yamakan basically spent all of 2011 badmouthing the industry and saying that it panders too much to otaku and is full of moeshit. Know, he's making an idol anime that does everything he badmouthed it for. /a/ is just being ironic.
If you cant beat him. Hahah way of the market.
They should ditch the swimsuits like real idols
Are you stupid or just dense? You completely missed the subtext of that scene. Yamakan's not pandering, he's pointing out how fucked up people who get off to that shit are.
Look at the Holocaust deniers and laugh.
Thanks, but we already have a savior.
Worse than Madokafags already
He copped out doing an Idol show, Everyone knows they always sell decently and don't require much effort to do, They're still good to watch though.
Man, it was about time someone dared to show scantily clad girls in anime. Even pantyshots! He really goes where no one has gone before.
Fanservice is saved. Thanks, Yamakan.
I bet you think Catcher in the Rye glorifies Holden Caufield too.
>/a/ calls Madoka a deconstruction
>doesn't see a real deconstruction when it stares them in the face
madokafags didn't get unbearable until after madoka ended
he fucked her
nah, yamakan is a better producer
you mean saved right?
Thank you. Fractale was shit but this time you've done it.
>Fractale was shit
696 muthafucker, suck my dick
I'd fuck her too
Is that Kojima?
u don't put dick in 3D
>Resorts to making a fanservice idol show with shameless self-promotion and tie-ins
If anything, he's finally realized that anime can't be saved and is becoming the monsters he's sworn to slay.
Nobody praises him unironically (well, maybe some hardcore retarded idolfags), Yamakan is a running joke.
SD needs way more Honey in order to compete.
it takes a monster to kill a monster
I thought WuG had very strong implications that the girls are being abused by the idol industry? That the fanservice doesn't feel like fanservice because the girls are in shitty situations?
I don't know though. I haven't watched it yet. Seems like shit.
Wokked Oppu Garuzu!
That was due to the webcast and PV speculah, but nothing's really come of it. We'll have to wait and see, but personally I don't see it getting any deeper.
It's far from shit, I Figured it'd be shit. But.
And episode 2 was so fucking painful. I'm both hoping the exploitation gets worse and praying it doesn't. Maybe it won't with the president back.
Fucking Matsuda a shit
>Fucking Matsuda a shit
I expected him to man up and tell sudo to fuck off, but nope, he needed the president to come back and save his ass
A while back, he made a big deal about how anime had stagnated and how the studios were too close with the fanbase, which led to everything being fanservice and moe. He claimed his new series would "Save anime" and made a huge deal of it. /a/ latched onto the "Saving anime" thing.
His new series turned into a massive flop. It was dull, boring, and still had fanservice and moe scattered throughout (The naked bathing scene, the little girl AI, etc).
Recently he's directing a new anime, which is why people are bringing the "Saving anime" thing back up.
you forgot the part where he promised to retire if it flopped but he didn't
and the nagi scandal
The Nagi scandal had nothing to do with him.
Also forgot to mention he's mostly famous for working on the Haruhiu anime and later Lucky star (Which he was fired from Kyoanni a few episodes into and replaced. He's responsible for the terrible first episode).
>He's responsible for the terrible first episode
I watched the every episode, they were all terrible
He didn't do anything when he saw the girls getting exploited, he didn't inquire about the details of the work.
Hell, it took the bringing up of the issue of a contract by Yoshino before he'd even do anything! What the fuck!
It's sad that he's so bad at managing that the girls are merely resigned to their fate.
The only thing he's saving is his wallet
He and his new show are perfect troll material, no matter how you look at it. After Space Dandy turned out to be rather lackluster and KlK is getting kinda old, this is the new season's best bet for IRC and Co.
wasn't this guy also responsible for Hare-Hare-Yukai dance?
god that was the BEST thing ever back in '07
>not putting your dick into Yamakan
Anime director Yutaka Yamamoto (Yamakan) posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday that he is in desperate need of animation staff for Wake Up, Girls!. He wrote the following:
I don't really want to do this, but an emergency announcement. Animators who have interest in Wake Up, Girls!, please save us. Our studio staff is currently suffering from extreme fatigue. Even so, they are continuing to hold their ground with just their love towards this project. Even if it's just a few people, we need reinforcements. Even if just for one day, please come into Tatsunoko Productions.
But who will save Yamakan?
Autists on /a/ realize that Yamakan is better than their favorite directors so spend their lives make fun of him.
>Killing the industry
>Responsible for Madoka, which gained worldwide recognition and brought anime back to the West
>responsible for madoka, which killed anime by ensuring all future anime will rely on moe and shit attempts at grimdrep
>beign that much of a delusioned faggot
What's next? Madoka film should win the Oscar instead of Kaze Tachinu?
God, that info pic. What really tickles my goat about that pic is that it thinks "producers make anime that pander to otaku and otaku then reinforce the producers by buying their anime" is a negative feedback loop. That's not true at all, by semantic definition, that is a positive feedback loop. lrn2controltheory, info-graph producers
>graduating from one of the best universities in the world, Kyoto Univeristy
I have a feeling his degrees might be worthless. He probably attended online courses on a phishing website.
Wow you guys are cool pointing out typos and translation errors in order to discredit the truth. Well, you tried anyway...
Why in this chart doesn't appear how is new anime is pandering as much as the others, maybe more, and how professional he was during his work with KyoAni?
>in order to discredit the truth
Don't you talk about truth. You couldn't handle the truth!
>His new series turned into a massive flop
Yamakan got himself a dream project (wasn't he an AKB48 fan?) He now gets to critique that system, talk about post-earthquake issues related to Sendai, and has an opportunity to provide a group of girls an idealized idol experience while educating them about the dangers of the trade.
One thing to keep in mind though, would Yamakan be allowed to say too much about the idol industry? Investors probably undestand that they should tread lightly, then again Sendai serves as a kind of shield in this case. Anyway, fascinating project.
Someone might reply to you if you re-write it in English.
What about what this >>100546595 anon said? He has a really good point, if what he says is true. Yamakan looks like a fucking hypocrite.
Because everything requires context and generalizing anything off of single sentences like that are never very truthful.
Yamakan tried. He made an anime with an imaginative world. Despite what people say about Fractale, it didn't rely on pandering. It wasn't the best anime in the world but it deserved more than it got and it didn't get anything because the industry is already deep into a whole.
Now he's making an anime because he's a fan of the material. But at least he's making something he's a fan of and not just shitting out whatever he knows will make the most money.
>being this new
4chan lacks of an edit function, don't see many mistakes beside an *is that should be "his".
Now,do you care to reply or you are just too busy being your avarage dick?
madoka is cancer, just like eva
>One thing to keep in mind though, would Yamakan be allowed to say too much about the idol industry?
Yamakan is a yakuza himself, what do you think why people keep giving him money for his continuous fuck-ups? He can do what he wants, and now he made a show about little girls getting exploited. This is as much a "fascinating" "educating" project as a rape doujin that educates girls about the dangers of tentacle monsters. If they all end up mindbroken, it's not a statement about the industry, it's fap material.
Not the only issue but it's already been addressed in >>100551987
I'm just getting baited but your statement just now is shit.
>But at least he's making something he's a fan of and not just shitting out whatever he knows will make the most money.
Well, happy coincidence then that he's a fan of little girls getting sexualized and that exactly this sells very well.
it's not bait, it's truth
both are leading the anime industry down a dark path
>"Anime is shit! You should all be ashamed of yourselves."
>makes mediocre anime
>"Well, I tried. Back to make pandering shit, but that's what I'm a fan of."
So you mean to tell me he really is a hypocrite?
wug isn't pandering shit, it's actually realistic
A nigger has got to eat. He obviously realized anime is doomed and decided to say fuck it.
This does not mean he has less value, because he tried instead of people like $hitbo who lived their lives without putting any care into the industry.
>Back to make pandering shit, BECAUSE that's what I'm a fan of.
Sleeping 6 hours is not enough, apparently.
I keep reading conflicting impressions on it. I guess I'll have to check it out for myself.
Madoka cured my dogs cancer
>Now he's making an anime because he's a fan of the material. But at least he's making something he's a fan of and not just shitting out whatever he knows will make the most money.
Incidentally he's a fan of a SoL about cute girls doing cute things.
I'm a little bit surprised that episode 2 had such a negative backlash with online otakus. In a way, it was actually complimentary of idol otakus.
Consider the two big scenes in Episode 2 - The first was the disturbing one where the girls get treated like sex objects by a random group of adult men that don't care about their music. These were just everyday guys going to some sort of hotel/inn establishment. There's no reason to think that they're otakus.
The second big scene was the one at a maid cafe. So the audience/customers here are at least a step or two closer to otakus than the first group was. The second group (the one at the maid cafe) is presented in a very positive light, unlike the first group (random men at a hotel/inn establishment). The second group are "true fans" in that they not only care about the music, they even have a rapport with the idol star and kinda respond to her music in a sing along way.
So is this saying that your average Idol Otaku is more respectful of girls and women than your average adult man is? Is it saying that the real corrupting influence on the J-Pop idol industry is actually the casual mainstream, and not the hardcore fandom?
>fuck old normalfags...hardcore dedicated otaku are the good guys
The anime industry isn't dying. Pandering anime isn't killing it. That's just sensationalized garbage that people love to gobble up.
The industry just over-inflated. It grew too much and now can't sustain itself. It will recede back to a size it can sustain, that is all.
When it recedes back to the size it can sustain, will we have good anime or more of the same shit we're getting now?
It will have a mix of good and bad, as it always had.
However, the skew towards "shit" (which I would prefer to call low-effort instead of shit) we are experiencing now is most likely due to studios trying as hard as they can to keep the industry over-sized. Industry receding means many studios are going out of business, after all. So the ration of "good" (high effort) and "shit" (low effort) should improve.
2chan hates anything yamakan touches though, I think this is just giving them more ammo to work with, regardless of creator intent.
I like how WuG is a stand-alone anime... no LN's and mangas to spoil it up here... so it's always gonna be a surprise every week until April.
PS Worked up Girls were lucky that Junko Tange happened to be in the sleazy establishment by accident. If That Junko was not around... I betcha that yes-man manager Matsuda would also sign for the 7 girls to do junior-idoling sessions (Gravure, U15) with even more skimpier (and fetish) outfits and more daring posts (as forced by the cameraman)
Do you realize this is clichè as fuck and pandering to the hardcore dedicated otaku guys?
Matsuda represents the otaku who stood around and did nothing while outside forces ruined anime with moeshit.
The studios have little say in what gets greenlit. They're mostly contractors. The trouble is that the production committees are mostly just in to make a quick yen, and the easiest way to do that is to pander to a small niche of people with deep wallets.
Matsuda is the epitome of Japanese Yes-Men with not enough training in independent & critical thinking
That's not their problem insofar as their hierarchy of authority based on age and seniority is. If senpai defrauds investors and tells you to take the fall for it and go to prison, with no expectation of a reward, you do it. It's a shitty system.
But Matsuda is a particularly shitty manager. Was he even present for their street performances or practices? He should really just curl up and die.
What the girls need is a manager like this nigga right here.
Would be nice if we get more background on Matsuda in later episodes.
But he is the background.
Get out of /a/, Triple_R.
What a waste.
What a terrible night for a get
>Implying matsuda is yamakan
>worse than 9/11
I sure hope to increase my anime intake, but so far i'm only watching (all selected based on my gut feeling)
Is it BAD, or is OK to watch 2 anime with the same theme running the same season?
It's terrible, you should just kill yourself.
Did you know the WuG song 「Ｔａｃｈｉａｇａｒｅ」 have two meanings?
I'm sure you know what the last one is...
English explanation please
So, put Nourin in my backburner backlog until summer then?
Rikaichan explains it well enough.
It seems you misunderstood. Are you seriously asking if it's "OK" to watch something? If I tell you this practice is bad, you'll stop? If I say it's good, you'll do it? Do you think there is some proper way to consume anime?
That dude looks WAY too much like Kojima for me to handle
how do u feel about it if it ever happens to you, would you watch both?
The state of the anime industry has nothing to do with the people who make anime.
Does anybody have the constanza version of Kaya?
Guess I need to pick this show up.
Yeah, thanks. So lovely ♥
>normalfag Bad guy
>Creepy Otaku good guy
