LOG IN YOU DAMN ONES
Log Horizon thread
Discuss which Guild is the best, what you would do in the database, which Horizon makes your Log rise, etcetera et al.
crush the won't you compromise
Fun fact for the day: according to one historian, the female poisoner Locusta (believed to be the first serial killer in history) was executed by the Roman Emperor Galba by being raped to death in the Colosseum by a specially-trained giraffe.
log horizon discussion is dying due to no more novel updates.
I want pudgy little Serara to log my horizon, if you know what I mean.
>barbed cat penises and raping giraffes

>raped to death in the Colosseum by a specially-trained giraffe.
>not the pinnacle of civilization
/pol/ was wrong, the current age we are entering is the height of our culture not it's death throes
Is Serara a dwarf?
So now we know the bonus of the outfit...
Im more amazed at the guy who was training a giraffe specially for rape even before Locusta was caught. Im sure he was happy for seeing his efforts pay off
I would bully her until she cries and her little belly shakes.
Why are you so mean Anon?
I can't help it. she is such a little cutie and I want to see her belly shake and that is the easiest way I can think of.
The Romans apparently did this more than once. You know that myth about how the Minotaur was born, where the queen made herself a cow costume so she could have sex with a bull? The Romans thought that was so hilarious that when the Colosseum was officially opened, they tied a female slave down in the center of the arena and had her raped by a bull.
They also apparently semi-regularly had female prisoners publicly raped in the Colosseum by drunk baboons. Literally, get the baboons drunk and send them into the arena. This was almost like the halftime show, something they'd do in-between gladiator matches and executions.
I would have hug her and bury my face in her well develop body.
The Romans sure knew how to have fun.
Think harder, no bullying allowed!
This image is so cute, Akazuki's pullover looks so comfy. Hnnnng.
Executions were part of the half-time show, too.
I want to see a roman woman fucked by a baboon
That's not how it works. Roman citizens wouldn't become slaves.
Why is everyone calling Serara fat? She doesn't look fat to me.
She stuffs her face with Nyanta-san's cooking and his penis.
Pudgy, not fat. Cute fat.
>and his penis.
That only happens in her dreams.
skythewood still updates the fantranslation. Just prepare your eyes.
It not happening only happens in your dreams, you fellinophobe!
The problem is that it's J>C>E translation, so no work can be done before official Chinese translation is released.
I think Volume 6 just came out?
Country girls are the best.
So why doesn't someone just buy the books and translate them instead of doing a translation of a translation?
Just look at all this fat.
Because sky can't read Japanese. And people who can can don't seem to be working on Log Horizon.
Does Nyanta like fat girls?
Well shit. How difficult is it? I can read fairly well, but have trouble translating more complex shit.
An anon has posted JP raw some threads ago.
Now we need a JP anon to translate this.
How does an mmo even get fat? She'd have to consciously choose to make her character fat like Marie chose those big tits.
Someone in the last thread said she made her avatar to as closely mimic her real-life self as possible.
She's not actually fat. Goddamn. The whole "fat" thing is a joke caused by her freaking out about Nyanta-san being too steekeee for her. She just has a bit of a complex, not unusual for a girl her age.
why not sorcerers teleport above them?, to be in the air and attack from above, and when they are falling just teleport again
What a dumb hick, I'll bet she's never taken the subway in her life.
casting time and cooldown
but you can plan it, you teleport in the air when you are alone and use the long distance teleport, when you are falling you just use some air magic to dont crash in the ground or use short distance teleport, then repeat again. Hell you cand even use a parachute made of leather that would help too.
>scrub that dies in PVE telling anyone to git gud
I need more freckles.
Here you go!
'gud' is not a state of existence that can be reached without dying once or twice.
rip Krusty's cat ;_;
His memory of him will be forgotten
"Things someone who isn't gud would say."
This sounds like something a scrub would say.
Dont worry. He has found a new pet to give attention to and to tease in the form of Raynessia.
A gud player is supposed to know everything.
How can you be gud if you don't know how the consequences of not being gud?
By observing those who are not gud.
Blink is short range and inaccurate. If for example you were able to blink yourself straight up somehow, and you managed to beat the cooldown and casting time and cast it straight up before you hit the ground you would still maintain the iretia of the original fall. Essentially every time you cast blink and reappeared in the sky, you would be falling faster and faster until you were falling so fast you hit the ground before you could cast it again, hopefully before you hit terminal velocity.
Also a leather parachute isn't what you think it is.
Not if the terminal velocity isn't as fast as blink's cool down time.
They Giraffes in Ancient Rome? You learn something every day.
>believed to be the first recorded serial killer in history
I refuse to believe she was the first.
She wasn't the first, she was the first recorded for the crime of serial killings.
You should really get more educated on ancient Rome.
9.8mps^2 means is that after 1 sec. of freefall, it's going 9.8 m/s, after 2 sec. it's doing 19.6 m/s, after 3, 29.4 m/s, et al. Another way to say it would be that an object in freefall's velocity is increasing by 9.8 m/s every second.
Okay okay okay
Lets say hypothetically you could blink vertically indefinitely, ie no casting time, no cool down, perfect accuracy. Eventually you would accumulate so much speed that the friction of the air would raise the temperature on your skin high enough that you would explode into flame.
Question to LNfags, do boukensha bodies age at all? Has this matter been adressed in any regard in the LNs?
I'm only upto Volume 2 but curious.
Isn't it squared?
Ancient Rome had some pretty fucked up forms of entertainment
That is what ^2 denotes
I like how all the kids conveniently chose to play as characters with kids ages.
>Hey blog, well today was another exciting day on /a/. I learned that the average /a/utist doesn't understand physics for 12 year olds.
Kids that pick up video games as a social hobby are more likely to make characters that resemble themselves, compared to nerdcore or escapist kids that create their fantasy Kiritos and what not.
knowing and can do is 2 different thing.
I had a strong feeling Demikas was a 12-15 year old.
Who knows how much of the cast about whom we have no old world details are really children?
Isuzu playing Rudy some music.
Author stated the characters resemble their real life counterparts to simplify storytelling challenges. Demikas was probably a griefer pre-Apoc that got his thrills off teabagging and hate tells.
Why do people assume you would maintain your inertia after blinking? This is an MMO we're talking about here.
Also the original idea of sorcs blinking above them is retarded.
For the same reason it would be retarded if you didn't maintain inertia. If Blink robbed you of inertia that would imply that movement would cease on blink, including bodily functions like the autonomous system.
>Naotsugu describes her as the kind of girl who was third prettiest in her class but received the most the love letters
The more the cushion, the better the pushing.
Fat bottom girls make the rocking world go round
Well tell that to MMO devs, because every MMO i've played that has a blink mechanic has it reset your inertia.
Blinking in midair will cause the destination to serve as the new starting point of your fall.
I want to pet her cat, if you know what I mean.
Yes, but Elder Tales seems to take it's physics fairly seriously.
Yes people can jump ten feet straight up and shit, but that is a function of character abilities.
I think you are implying that you want to stoke her pussy, correct?
I would rather he make me a delicious curry.
And while he is distracted I bully her.
Damn it bullyAnon stop that.
I am going to pinch her love handles and slap her fat ass.
You're gonna make her cry you know, you heartless monster!
That just gives me an excuse to cuddle her until she stops crying
and I start doing it again.
>and I start doing it again.
mfw anon is the abusive husbando
>and I start doing it again.
Even her gluttonous eating is cute.
I used to pull the girl I liked pigtails when I was a little kid. In retrospect people should have known I was going to turn out like this.
It's not all bad, some perverted girls take take pleasure from being bullied.
Thoughts on what the next few volumes will have?
Seems changes in Elder Tale are taking place slowly, but surely, and I wouldn't put behind it to have at least a risk of another World Fraction before, say, Volume 12.
At the very least, more and more demi-human raids are going to happen, and, to be fair, I hope some main characters lose more memories so things get a bit more tragic. I know, horrible.
By the way, what class/subclass would you pick and why?
He for sure can't just start doing it to every girls he like, though
>krusty dies more times
>forgets his irl sister
>finally gets with princess NEET
serrareras hair is annoying, it doesnt even look like hair
I know you guys hate /co/, but there was a character from a comic I used to read when I was a kid and that would be his build.
Still Bard/Chef, I'd still open a cafe and sing in the evening if I have time.
I think her hair is lovely.
Im afraid to inform you that I do not agree with your opinion
But seriously it looks strange
I think it is the Character designers attempt at fluff in his style.
Did anyone else think Kawara's cameos in the last episode were super out-of-character? I mean, this is the genki meat-head whose first act after the Apocalypse was to party up with some noobs and punch goblins. Does that seem like someone who'd be like "Defending the town is none of our business?" No, "Screw politics, let's hunt gobbos!" would be more her style.
But then, I was expecting her to not even get any lines, so I'm not sure if I should just be grateful that she got as much screen time as she did.
You have to consider that they're escorting a bunch of ill-equipped lowbies who just got done running away from thousands of murlocs. Although the anime kind of did a poor job of it, the senior party leaders had a responsibility to bring all their people back home safely.
Fun choices, actually!
I'd probably be a Guard/Armorer, and focus mainly on tanking for learning groups and making better armor for me/them.
I strongly identify with Shiroe's lack of will to join a guild, being a former guildmaster myself on two different games. It was really weird watching Log Horizon and realizing that.
While the leadership certainly had that responsibility, Kawara isn't exactly a responsible person. Her line could've gone to someone else, or they could have had some out of place boke-tsukkomi bit where she does her thing and someone checks her enthusiasm, like in the WWB manga.
I'm probably the only one bothered by this, I guess.
They trained ALOT of animals specifically for rape. It was part of the show. If the animal existed it was used for rape.
Got to keep the plebs fat and happy
So that's what people did before hentai was a thing, huh.
She may be genki and silly with her WWB guild mates but she is still an experienced and well geared lvl 90+ who was tasked with protecting the lower level players.
I can understand her being serious here. Though she did retain her brash attitude which we saw when she kicked one right in the face, which was nice.
Author already said it was for story convenience and most of the kids shown are from hamelin. Any kid with a muscle McHuge dude wouldn't get recruited since they aren't an obvious target and then rumours would circulate for the kid to hear. They did need to show some of the kids in giant bodies during the training arc imo even as an off note but for the most part it's not that bad.
Perhaps I just need to watch it again in a better mood.
Half of the arguments were anime original anyway. She's out of character because the anime wrote her out of character.
Isiizu for example didnt argue against helping the townspeople. She acted a bit weird but that was because she was wondering how the shit they were going to manage to keep Doggy alive. Even Rundelhaus was scared for a sec until he remembered that this is exactly why he became an adventurer in the first place. to help people. In the end there was no argument at all.
Not that anon, but while I agree there were clear differences in how some characters were written, that was made by two reasons--or so I believe:
1. They need to milk out the episodes until the season ends, and there's not really much budget for more fight scenes, so arguments are easier anyway;
2. They have to intensify the shipping so people (mainly fujoshi) watch the anime more.
Yeah. this episode was clearly to prop minori up as one of the goals so they make it act like helping was even a question to most of the people there as Minori makes her "bold declaration" of defeating the goblins.
in the end it was mostly the same tactics as in the dungeon except druid now had crowd control spells, and the elders rained tons of expensive potions for everyone. Mostly it was the high levels cutting swaths as the lowbies ganked stragglers.
I was never a big fan of Akatsuki but she looks so cute in that picture that I've changed my mind.
Summoner with a Necromancer build. I'm not interested in being Slitwrists McEdge, but Graveyard Walk seems like a powerful and easily controlled skill, and I like the characteristics of the undead summons that have been fleshed out so far. Probably go with Dwarf for survivability, maybe Undead Hunter to make doing the contract quests easier.
Plus, I can have my dead people parties at night. I'm sure my ghosts and skeletons would enjoy some music and drinks for a change. If I can contract some hopping vampires, then I'll really be in business.
When will we get more Akatsuki?
Good looking busty female foxtail
Sorceress, apprentice until I figure out a better subclass.
Not just a specific class/subclass, but I'd like to find myself a party with an AoE / Multi-target setup.
Tank is Guardian (job apparently can aggro multiple or possibly even limitless number of targets in relatively large area), Melee DDs consists of swashbucklers (which have multi-target damage techniques), and Sorcerer (AoE damage spells). Support job is Bard (Has AoE support and damage-enhancement effects).
Not sure of what healer class is best. Traditionally, Regen-type healers have had better MP efficiency that straight curing -- but the descriptions in ET seem to suggest otherwise? Kannagi might actually be best, if they have barriers that work against multiple attackers with absolute (vs. relative) damage reduction; good for damage mitigation vs. many small targets. On the other hand, if they mostly use blink-type damage mitigation that works best against one large slow-attacking target, then Kannagi wouldn't work.
Extremely late on this, but god dammit fuck you I almost had that series out of my head forever.
Are you just coasting along, /a/?
Sorceress is actually a really good job for a foxtail. The racial trait causes you to randomly lose abilities from your job, while gaining random ones from other jobs.
This could really screw up jobs that are heavily dependent on a set of core abilities (imagine a Guardian who lost the ability to Anchor Howl). However, it sounds like Sorcerers have multiple nuking spells that are kind of redundant. So you might lose a spell that is optimum for some combination of MP and cast/recast, or maybe of a certain elemental damage type. But, if you randomly get some healer/support spells, you'll be awesomely flexible or maybe you'll randomly get Anchor Howl, derpderp
Finally someone who gets the pros of the foxtail race. Also Foxtails get bonuses on magicial abilities.
Also cute as fuck.

>yfw when NHKE rewrites Tetra into having always been a girl cutting out all reference of genderswap
This isn't America.
summoner/chef, i would open a restaurant and summon things to help me cook
Pretty silly /a/non. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt though and assume you've never taken a physics class. Because, wow, you'd stop accellerating once you've reached the speed where the the force required to move faster through the medium exceeds that of the force exerted on you by the planet.
Why do you think breaking the sound barrier requires so much force? Do you think planes burst into flame when they do so?
I wonder if it's possible for an adventurer to take over the role of the sage?
Pretty good for most jobs really since leveling isn't that bad. just don't deck yourself in phantasmal gear until you're high level so that you can reset if you're really crazy about min/max. People have worked harder for less than what foxtails get.

God damn it NHK.
Great choices everyone, I can picture everything quite well in ET. And I kinda feel like going back to FF14 too, veering a bit off-topic.
Like the Sage of the Mirror Lake? I would say yes, he seemed like a mixture of Summoner (kind of) and Scribe, almost like Shiroe.
Maybe the new expansion (and the way things end up evolving in ET after the 3rd World Fraction) allow for people to master different classes? After all, you don't have to access commands, just use the weapon or perform an enchantment, and everyone has both HP and MP (unlike in some games, where physical classes have Skill Points (SP)).
Actually, I would bet that this new expansion would allow for an evolution in classes by reaching level 100. After all, staying the exact same class for a hundred levels would be tiresome, from a player's point of view.
>Not following a plan from Team Scrub's strategist
is that what we're calling them?
I think it fits well for them, considering they are a team and they are the scrubbiest.
Do you have a guardian one?
Considering the issue of genderswap has already been breeched with Akatsuki, I cant forsee any problems.
>implying she made the plans when all of the strategy so far was from the party making one together as a TEAM.
Minori fans try to hog all the credit from everyone else.
Why is miss minori 21 while tohya is 29? i thought there were always together
Toyota got to train while Minority was forced to repair clothing or some shit.
Tohya can last hit properly.
Too bad she fucks up badly.
Not when they were in Hamelin. Remember she was held hostage in the guild hall while Tohya was forced to grind with other scrubs and Hemlin leaders.
i like it
>It's simple, we kill the goblins.

Tohya was grinding mobs while Minori was stuck being a rapekitten in Hamelin.

She can't be instant shiroe, baby steps.
Ahh okay, I dont know but i thought they were trapped together, might have to rewatch that episode again then
Are you insinuating minori is not the greatest strategist ever for coming up with something everyone does in am MMO? PURGE THE UNCLEAN HERETIC.
Guys got sent to be chinese farm bots while girls got to sew all day in Hamelin.
Now that you mention that, the whole 'guerilla warfare' tactic isn't as impressive when you consider that it's essentially just pulling.
Hamelin and brigandia for best guilds,
Silver Sword too, if only william didn't self exile cause he thought he fucked up
You know this to be true /a/.

>wch zon wud u log
All the lolis
Probably a cleric pharmacist, healing, and making combat drugs, got to keep the party healed and pumped, snort cocaine and we're not dungeon crawling
The tactic itself isn't impressive but the teamwork is since the goblins are stronger than the dungeon mobs they fought all week.
Nyanta and tankbro contributing night vision potions was the biggest help in this to team noob since all the goblins had to essentially fight blind and didn't know what they were facing.
Oh no, sorry if that seemed like it.
They did the strategy together, as a team, I agree! It's just that, inevitably, she IS the team's strategist, she's Shiroe 2.0, as pointed out earlier.
Needs princess with a pancake on top of head.

They fear loosing their memories, why dont they write them down in a notebook? No one thought of that yet?
Having a journal telling you that you once had a family is far different from actually remembering them.
Goodluck writing down everything
>which Horizon makes your log rise
Exactly. It's much like Alzheimer's, in the sense that they'd know they had important people and events in their lives, but they wouldn't be able to remember them.
And it would drive them mad.
if you had a magical quill and a notebook worth of petabytes of data maybe. and a way to put it back into your brain. what good is a memory dump if it's too large to read it?
Of course, but you can always refresh your memories like crusty would know the color of his cat when he had a journal.
Sure it wont help when you died 50 times and you cant even remember the life before the apocalypse.
It's different, imagine you never had a brother, and one day someone came up to you and said that he was your brother, and that you lost your memory. Your first thought would probably be the dude's crazy and get away from him.
so what, now you'd just know that you had a cat of a certain color, you won't recall what it's features were like, what it sounds like when it purred, what did it like to do, how it behaved, what you did with the cat, how it grew up etc.
Well if you want to get really technical the human brain likes to bullshit when asked for memories it doesn't have so when you try to remember the colour and etc as written in the journal it will invent it's own memory so that it doesn't get caught not having said memory.
Of course that could make things worse since now you cant even tell what memories are real if you're aware of that.
>not Which Horizon makes your log rise as it's preparing for the punchline
This. And the Crusty's cat example is a minor thing. Eventually he might not recall his sister, and his previous life.
Minori and Touya won't recall their lives, which have even less memories considering their age. Isuzu will be the same.
Rudy might even forget the people he just met eventually, considering he was born as a Lander first and foremost.
When does the Mind start to count, as an Adventurer? Or as his first time as a Lander? I mean, he was basically born anew, so what then? Die and lose recollection of the summer camp (his most important event to date after starting out again)?
This was also touched on the last thread Shiroe met all his friends from Debauchery Tea Party while playing the game in real life. With that sight lost, he'll only know they're really important to him, but not why, and that's going to drive him nuts.
Alzheimer, man. The other anon said it, you don't just shrug off shit like "Oh was he really my brother?", you get torn inside out trying to remember and being unable to.
But they're noobs, not scrubs. They'd be scrubs if they were level 90, in shit gear, and considered it everyone else's fault.
It could be worse. People could have called them POGUE Horizon
>Not acknowledging Crusty as gud
Alright. I am really hyped about the next episode, and I believe I like this series more than I should.
I'm gonna try and work on a rainmeter skin theme for it. A proper one, not bullshit that is just an HD storage space meter.
I'm sure this gets asked every thread, but I marathoned this yesterday and I was just engrossed by how cool everything was. I liked it much more than .hack even. I've never played an mmo, but I'm guessing there's nothing on the market like this yet, right? I'm mostly interested in a dynamic world that can be changed by the players as we've seen, and an aesthetic that's similar to this and as far away from WoW as possible.
The author's inspiration comes from first generation MMOs. Its not that its not on the market, its that what is on the market now is watered down plebian shit.
Keeping up with the anime, I have a question.
Is Nyanta like this? As in 'is he always gentleman-like?'
Well that sucks. Thanks anyways.
Im guessing hes probably like your average internet white knight? i mean hes in his 30/40's so he could jsut be a gentleman irl
I don't think so tim. You can't fake being a gentleman. Nyanta is the real deal.
A lot of the ideas explored in the series come from concepts present in oldschool MMOs such as Everquest and Ultima Online, where much of the dynamism present in the world is an emergent quality brought about by the players themselves organizing into cultures. You don't see as much of this working seamlessly in games these days due to the overall dumbing down and arcadification of the MMO genre, coupled with the ever-increasing noise ratio on the internet. Some games try to fake it (cough GW2) and fail miserably.
Most of her characterization is given through the sometimes-questionably-canon manga, though, right? It's adaption vs. adaption here. I don't even remember Kawara being mentioned in the LN until volume 6, and she doesn't even speak.
We got a Nobunaga in the making here.
Wolf Tail Berserker >>100539673
Vampire subclass title of The Confused if I can get it. Would jump through random fairy gates Just to travel place to place and gain a variety of equipment. Armor and weapons and trinkets from every culture.
If it makes you feel any better there are occasional sparks of douchery that are hilarious if it isnt happening to you.
THe third link is when a guy kited mobs that one shot everyone since bards have enhanced movement speed in that game. Meanwhile he was also too low to be attacked by highlevel players thanks to the rules preventing you from pking low lv newbs if you're high level. you can guess what ensued.
Hilarious instances of mass douchery are kind of different from what I sense that guy wants to experience in an MMO. A world where its economic power centers must be determined by the players, where vital geographic locations and territories can be carved up amongst powerful guilds and coalitions, where its cultural traditions and priorities are intrinsically tied to unique server communities, where wars can have far reaching consequences for hundreds or even thousands of players-
That kind of world is something the MMO market no longer wants to provide.
he's probably spinning his ship in the database right now
Sounds like eve online
I was going to say that, but it sounds like its medieval counterpart. And with less douchefuckery.
Fair enough. Carving up certain areas among guilds is going to usually be a bad idea in my experience though. The people doing that aren't going to be players that want the adventure of doing so. it's going to be the bastards who spent $10k on a bot to ensure you will NEVER be able to get the monster with the rare item without buying it from them. The other stuff would be pretty cool. Sadly the wars thing is usually a stalemate because everyone wants the status quo more than they want new territory.
Really the main problem with letting the players have control in an mmo is they will abuse the shit out of it. You need to do something that destroys empires and capital every once in a while.
Do spreadsheets even make sounds?
You mean a... World Fraction...?
It feels like that, anyway. A server-wide "spell" cast from time to time--usually when everyone's at their highest point, and everything has fallen to routine--, which completely shakes up the server's foundations.
Aside the fact that I'd wish for more main classes/evolutions, Elder Tale feels like a damn great MMO.
in space no one can hear you spreadsheet
>20 year old game
>3 items slots
exploiting game rules to do hilarious stuff is what makes MMOs fun
>high level players drag dungeon boss to the dungeon lobby
>devs forced to implement a max-following distance
>running through dungeons becomes too easy
>devs forced to relax max distance
>be high level priest
>heals have very strong threat multipliers
>have whole party tap a boss from an enemy guild
>spam AoE heals on whole party to get a whole stack of threat multipliers
>other party loses aggro on boss
>I tank the boss by spamming heals
>tickle a boss that spawns minions until the entire room is filled with minions.
>gfx engine is shit so everyone lags to death while eaten by minions.
>we prepared and turned down gfx settings
>everyone running through the room dies.
>GMs doing random things. goad them into spawning the highest boss in the game which has a 360° stun AoE that insta-kills 90% of the player base.
>Drag it through the gathered, lagging crowd to get as many people killed as possible
>GM wants to take aggro on it
>have friend CC the GM with a skill that is level-independent
>GM is furious has to resort to console
>we get banned for a day and just play on alts instead
>borrow a few million gold from the guild bank
>corner the market on some cash-shop consumable, completely with in-game money
>everyone bitches about the "rich kids" buying from the cash shop
I guess being good, bored and high-level does make you a bit of a douchebag. But there are ways to have fun in high level areas too. Once we played ping-pong with a boss that wiped most other parties at that time.
Goddamn that image is comfy.
that's fine as long as you have a sufficiently complex skill tree and crowded skill bars that keep you busy
>3 items slots
yeah, ok. that sucks.
But all I see shiroe do is thorn bind hostage and nightmare sphere
We haven't seen him to a raid yet. Looking at some of the sample Enchanter skills, a number of them are catered towards raids rather than small-group battles.
Dropped this show this week. It isn't entertaining anymore, it isn't even funny.
Meant to, not do.
it's time for bed anon
I just woke up too.
Then do 30 push-ups
3 item slots definitely are not enough, but I'd like for 18 classes total, and the game's old, but it did evolve a lot from the looks of it.
>3 items slots
it actually have more then 3 item slot, the character profile only shows 3 at a time though.
7/10 would join guild
Most stuff isn't too bad but the problem is the players tend to be better at the game than the GM or the devs. For instance Tanks have been banned for not dealing enough damage to a boss by the rival guilds that want to steal it calling a GM.
People have been banned for not attacking their pets/summons.
and really most of the stuff you're listing is more of a dick move than a hilarious move.
Lagging people out? not fun. Watching the panic as they run in terror from a massive dragon plopped on their head? Fun.
needs more item usage. Otherwise the amount of consumables in the game would ahve to be amazingl. Gear is a main way you customize and the most visible way. Even with the massive skill trees ET has you need gear stand out since as far as I know there are no phantasmal tier skills.
As far as world fractions go it would be alot of effort. you have to do it in such a way that the rich guilds wont just be prepared for it and gain an even bigger advantage. stuff like a volcano erupting and becoming a dungeon. Said dungeon happens to be where all the cash/items they had was which is now the raid loot. And keep on busting people as they get monopolies and so on.
That'd become too predictable though, and no one would want total supremacy over a turf, or even join up in, say, a city, for fear of everything exploding and becoming rubble.
Still, I'd say that's a fine idea, just gotta target everyone from time to time too, like raids or invasions.
Say, foreign nations coming up to trade, establishing NPC markets on the streets and so on, maybe even small villages, things that would take some time with updates, say, monthly? X players do enough quests to improve the foreigner standings, an update happens and the changes become both visible and applicable in game terms: new markets means new items with different prices, and new villages means more quests, so on. Then turn that into either a civil war from differences over the national beliefs and the foreigners or just an all-out plan from the foreign nation to take over that country in stages, first economically, then militarily, by raiding key locations (both NPC and Guild important areas).
Still, not going to lie, an MMO akin to ET, even if in a more basic form, would be great.
>Last episode doesn't talk about politics, the economy or civil rights.
Clearly the worst episode up to date. They better explore actual war the next episode, supply lines, attrition, production and all that to make up for it.
Not sarcasm. Absolutely nothing happened last episode, just anouncing the goblin king and skimming the whole memory loss issue.
Where is my politics?
Why didn't they just let any men that wanted to have their turn at her?
Seems less cruel and more hot.
>Not noticing the Landers mobilizing to defend cities
>Not realizing Akihabara is setting up a defense from the raid
>Implying they didn't mention the tension between Adventurers and Landers when the latter didn't come to talk to the former about the Goblin King situation, and how everything would be handled, thus suggesting there's still actual tension between them
>Not observing that West Wind was travelling with their guild to deliver said people and supplies
What's the poin then?
Clearly you don't like the fellowship of the five noobs because this episode marked a major transition from conceptualizing the world they're in as a real world with moral values instead of a game of give/take.
...I better rewatch it. It was 3am and I now remember that I didn't pay attention that much.
I am sorry, anon-kun. Will never happen again.
It's alright anon-san, those were mostly either very short scenes or just one or two dialogue lines, but still, the wheels are in motion, and things are being discussed, even if briefly so.
Speaking of Log Horizon, but veering just a bit off, is anyone currently playing an MMO? Which one?
Is there an MMO you know that resembles Elder Tale in some way? And what's your opinion on guilds?
>Implying they didn't mention the tension between Adventurers and Landers when the latter didn't come to talk to the former about the Goblin King situation, and how everything would be handled, thus suggesting there's still actual tension between them
Wouldn't it be a pisser if i turned out the Adventurers had to be the first to initiate a defense proposal with the Adventurers? Because the former ET programming didn't allow the former NPCs to initiate a quest themselves, so even now they still can't do it?
Log Horizon genuinely interesting, has a good, steadily advancing plot and actually makes a great use of an overused setting in my opinion. It may not have the best animation, but the story and how the characters develop make more than up for it.
Thank you guys for these great threads, Log Horizon is probably one of my favorite Anime of 2013.
All of them are shit
Drama filled cesspools
You should check out Tears to Tiara if you need more fantasy fuel
Ok I have seen swords and staffs but how come there's no heavy weapon such as great axe, pole arm or hammer?
It's very western... in the sense that most western stories focus on the setting rather than the characters.
And I like it.
Just wait for Tree of Savior, anon.
I believe they could just write contracts for that, but that would be a pisser indeed.
Isaac has a huge sword, and Krusty a huge axe by standard. Isuzu has a spear.
Who the hell watches LH for the fantasy?
Shroe had the right idea. Most guilds i joined that did raids are only fine with you so long as you dont want to get a drop happen to be fine waiting forever to fight the mob you want a drop from while they fight the ones they(leader and cronies) want repeatedly or something like that.
You're also better off with a group of friends that are competent because the average player sucks even in a guild compared to anyone you know.(presuming you dont suck too)
Cute chubby druid girls only exist in fantasy
Mmh. Shiroe has the right idea indeed, all guilds I've been in are focused in raids, but don't have a clue about teamwork, and have to constantly re-do steps until the higher-leveled players get sick and do everything by themselves, grinding alone.
I've started doing the same to be honest, just playing with friends or eventually making a small, more focused guild. It's for the best.
Never notice that before, I'm having a rewatch now.
it probably does not count but
playin vin solo now
why cant other games have GS combat so fun
Also, speaking of swords, Nyanta has rapiers, and Kawara has her fists, much like Demikas. There's also daggers and I THINK there's at least shuriken/kunai, from what Akatsuki used? But could be just skills, or my memory might be a tad foggy.
>but you can always refresh your memories
No. You can't refresh memories you don't even have. You're not going to go "oh yeaaaah, I remember that now," it's gone and you don't even care. That's kind of the point of why they're horrified about this. Die enough and you'll eventually be a different person.
>be immortal min-maxer who practically never dies
>over the years people around you die and die again, losing memories
>they slowly become "gib quest plox" adventurers
>they forget about the old world
>they forget about meta-gaming
>everyone thinks you are crazy
>except for a few others
>you slowly watch them fade away one by one
It's like Kanade Tachibana, in a sense.
Basically this is the same show as Valvrave.
God damn it.
I came here just to say that I fucking hate the kid adventurers
Other than Serara and Country-hick I want to bash their heads in
Especially the healer
Oh it would be so nice to watch her scream.
>Nyanta has rapiers
Are tney barbed?
good thing most of the characters we know are not bad players and know when to skedaddle
>Hating on Team Scrub
I suppose we all have a right to an opinion, but fucking hell why are you hating on fun characters with a healthy level of development? Rudy actually grows quite well, Touya learns some things, and Minori stops being dependent from time to time.
Because they're weak and uneducated and arrogant and remind him of himself
>That kuudere party member of yours accidentally became genki after dying 5 times.
>Your sister forgets that you're related, but still rememers her love for you.
>That girl who kept a journal reads her own work as if it's a distant tale by another person
>A bunch of arrogant fucks who constantly believe their opinion is right with no regard for others
Actually you kinda can since the brain absolutely loves to invent memories it never had but they don't know this and it's not the same anyway.
You can see a weaker version of this in action. at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBPG_OBgTWg
but it can extend as far as you having vivid memories of being molested because you were told you were often enough. That's what repressed memories actually are. They aren't memories you had. they're memories your brain bullshitted up.
Either way I consider this MORE of a reason to be freaked out if databased Alzheimer's was a real thing.
You mean Serara and Izumi (Freckles!)?
When does Minori develop into the Black Heart Kannagi in the LN?
>The people doing that aren't going to be players that want the adventure of doing so. it's going to be the bastards who spent $10k on a bot to ensure you will NEVER be able to get the monster with the rare item without buying it from them
Note to new people: this *actually happened*, more or less, in the old days. Large guilds and/or farmers in Everquest would permacamp some bosses. You could only get that loot if you paid them a fortune, or if you got lucky enough to go there that one half an hour at the asscrack of dawn on a day where their round-the-clock guard cover slipped up.
Uness there's something in volume 7 she doesn't All the hype people are givin her is over her ability to do lots of paperwork.
They're not that uneducated, they're kids, but you're right, I get your point.
>Kids being kids
>Eventually learning their opinions aren't always spot-on and they should re-think their strategies sometimes
>Teaching adults the value of being earnest and straight to oneself from time to time
>"Don't underestimate me, I am..."
>The road in the evening sky was filled with the sound of Rundelhous' hoarse scream.
>"I am Rundelhous Code! I am an Adventurer!"
i cant wait to see this scene animated
Dog for best character, or at the very least way up there.
I don't get what you are trying to say?
You don't like kid?
They're not team scrub, they're team newbs. Now crusty and co. that's team scrub
And when that happens you have to beat out everyone else who descended upon the area in swarm. That's probably why there are so many quests instead of other things nowadays. The devs had to adapt to the players.
It's a shame too because pulling a mob only to realize you just pulled the strongest monster in the zone by accident in an exp party was fun. If the game was setup right you could even have an epic(at least to you at that point in the game) teamup with the local parties for basically an impromtou raid.
Notorious monsters were both one of the best and worst things in ffxi at the same time.
Is there an mmo with satisfying Katana swordplay?
I've been itching to be a samurai.
You just say that because he died two times.
Team Scrub remains the kids, but that doesn't necessarily mean they suck. They have great teamwork, it's just that they started as scrubs and that stuck.
They aren't THAT scrubby. I suspect the scrub guild wasn't logged on at the time since it was midnight in Japan? There's certainly no way in hell only 5ish major guilds existed for the whole of Japan.
The word "scrub" have been used a lot lately but what does it mean for you guys"
For me it's: a player who will not learn about the game system/mechanic and always blame all the mistake on the game or other but not themselves. But not newbies or low level player.
anyone who can't git gud
What about Midori's team? Are they scrub?
I'm not saying I'm disagree with you but I want to understand your point of view.
RO2, been invited to a guild two weeks ago. Almost by myself since its a dead guild and been sticking to pubs since then. Really like pubs though, they're like one night stands
Pubs are often hard to work with as a team, but if everything's going alright, I would suggest you do like Based Shiroe, drop the guild, and stick with pubs.
I played a little bit of RO2 when it arrived on Steam, but it declined on my tastes.
My last enjoyable MMO was FF14, a whole month of pure fun, although I joined a guild that didn't do much at all. If I get back to it, I'll quit and make my own, just for fun.
i don't know what you mean, please elaborate!
He wants Serara to carve him a beautiful horizon scenery on his log.
He wants her to shit on his chest.
Its more of a "LFP to play the game" at the moment. And just avoid pinoys and BRs and the party would be fine. I hear Aura Kingdom is pretty uninteresting despite how cool it looks from the gameplay vids though
Anyone else curious about Tree of Savior's class system?
I mean, ET already has a very spread out skill list among 12 classes to make each of them "unique"
ToS has 6 main job classes + 80 bonus classes. How is that gonna work?
stop anon, my dick can only get so hard
It won't. There would be that one certain strong class that would shit on everything else while the other classes calls for a nerf, then another class gets stronger then get nerfed. I dunno how you guys can be so optimistic to something very ambitious like ToS
Its because of the current era of conservative theme park MMOs
If its based on RO's class system, then that whole "80 bonus classes" the devs have been flaunting might be horse shit.
Its more like class progression, rather than actual bonus classes
>swordie > 2nd job or alternate class > 3rd job or 3rd alternate class > etc.
Its fake classes.
Apparently each class has 10 possible evolutions, plus "hidden" ones unlocked only by means of achievement.
I... Doubt that. All RO developers jumped into Lime Odyssey, and just one is working on Tree of Savior. I for one have hopes because this (formerly known as Project R1) has been in the making for quite some time now.
But it deviates quite a bit from the current trend, it brings some things back, that's good. It feels like a fresh breeze of hope, in a sense.
Ah, so just parties and such, fun! Yeah, as I've said, dropping that dead guild seems like a good idea. And yes, Aura Kingdom was pretty uninteresting from all the hype it itself generated.
Hahahaha yes t-those... S-S-Silly BRs... ... ... ... ;_;
So, Log Horizon will end up getting 1 member of every class in the guild.
What we have left is Summoner, Monk, and Druid.
>80 bonus classes
I didn't know that. Sounds like they might be too many, but I hope it works out.
I really liked RO's class system, so I wouldn't mind if it was pretty much the same. But still, 80 would be far more than RO, right?
Still classes when you think about it.
Elder Tale has Guardian and Samurai as 2 of the 3 tank classes, and they're quite different, even though they perform the same basic job. Although, from my understanding, Samurais deal more DPS than Guardians in the anime, and don't have many aggro pull skills, unlike Guardians.
(Feels like the Knight/Crusader duo from Ragnarök Online as well)
WAY more, I just hope they aren't very minor changes.
>HERE'S 3 UPGRADE CLASSES FROM SWORDSMAN
>#1 CAN USE AXES, #2 SPEARS, AND #3 SWORDS
>THEY ARE THE SAME SHIT EXCEPT THEIR WEAPONS ARE DIFFERENT
>do u rike it
Well apparently you start changing mentally the longer you're genderswapped.
I hope they're qt grills.
I would recreate my Red Lobster Garlic Cheddar Biscuits and sell them at a stall with the snappy slogan, "These Biscuits Are To Due For!"
S-sorry, I just had very terrible party experiences with BRs leading them
Come on, if it's based on RO you know it shouldn't be like that.
I can see them doing things like dividing the professor in a full support class and a battle one, though.
I played with a BR once, he never shut the fuck up on voice chat and no one understood a single word that he said. Ok so he may have been a nice guy and was trying to be helpful answering questions, but he was too helpful and came off as a know-it-all.
I quit the guild after that.
Has anyone truly died yet? How long has the world been like that?
Either an archery specialized Assassin with whatever subclass Akatsuki has for the sneakings, or a Summoner with some kind of crafting subclass.
Man, fuck that. I really wished it was similar to the FF Tactics job system
>take swordsman class for 10 levels
>take blackmage class for 10 levels
>unlock dark knight
>tank fucking everything like a boss, kill fucking everything like a god
Didn't shiroe die once early on? Crusty died twice, WWB's leader was the first to die in the manga.
I've known exactly one BR in my time as an end game content pusher in a top 3 server raid guild. He was pretty awful for raiding, but he was always friendly and was always pretty chill outside of actual gameplay. I remember when he fulfilled his dream of owning a night elf panther mount in vanilla WoW. He and his friends just paced around Ironforge all day like they were kings.
I mean died and stayed dead somehow in the LN
That's alright!! Oddly enough, I have also only had terrible experiences with my compatriots, which is why I'm not fond of revealing I am one, both out of fear of prejudice from everyone when it comes time to party, and to avoid people from here who don't know the basics of team work and proper etiquette.
I am sorry that happened to you.
I believe she has a Tracker subclass? I might be mistaken. Still, good choices, both!!
>Yfw no game has implemented Red Mages properly
>Will never be able to combine Red Mage and Swashbuckler
How long have they been trapped in there for now?
CRUSH THE DAMNED AND HYPNOTIZED
Is that loli npc really dead?
Hahahah, that'd be quite interesting to see, actually.
Some of us tend to be terrible gameplay-wise, but pretty chill otherwise, if the language (in this case English) is known to us. Goes without saying, but the more "text-based"/technical the game, the less BR scrubs you'll see.
A few days? I never stopped to do the math, to be honest.
Yes. People of the Land leave no bodies when they die---which is why Touya buried her doll.
no, the goblins took her and her family back to the tribe to have tea and crumpets.
I think 2-3 months?
Nah, she's alive but currently servicing the goblin king and his retainers, if you know what I mean?
I mean rape involving 5ft dicks introduced to her fresh loli poon
Shit that makes me sad, I'd spend all my time being a white knight for the npcs if I ever got sent into LH
Makes some sense, specially since they're just people, when you do think about it.
As Shiroe has said some times, they're not NPCs anymore--they have families, dreams, memories, even emotions, they're humans through and through to that world.
I hope their monk is just a female Kenshiro. Making people already dead, ATATATATATA, and walking around shirtless to make everyone super uncomfortable.
I've always wanted a female Kenshiro. Kenshira.
Druid should be called xxW33DLordBonerH1Tl3Rxx and be stoned all the time
I bet there'll be a bunch of chapters later about Serara making a big commotion and eventually leaving Crescent Moon to join Log Horizon because of Nyanta-san.
Why don't the Adventurer's all just keep detailed notes of their life in the real world, so when they die they can just read them and remember their lost memories?
you are fucking retarded
We've already hit our loli quota and our useless scrub quota for Log Horizon
God damn it Frodo it doesn't work that way.
wait a minute didn't I used to own a ring I wonder why I had it
So we wouldn't really know if their bodies age yet. Does hair grow at least? Like facial hair or whatever.
I felt real bad for her. Poor landfags
Kirito, please. They're NPCs, not people
That was an anime only section so we have to wait and see. The people in the outskirts of town were supposed to have already packed the hell up and ran by this point. If she was killed it's because the animators decided to make team noob more dramatic. We have noone to blame but the twins.
In volume 5, it reveals that Serara was given an offer to join Log Horizon by Nyanta. She rejects it because of her duties in the Crescent Moon.
They're sentient beings by any definition of the term. Unless you want to argue they don't have souls, which is retarded.
Even from a pragmatic standpoint you want em alive to get rare quests from. One of them might be able to teach the arts of drunken boxing which apparently noone can get tot he npc of post apocalypse due to him wandering off.
I haven't started watching this fucking show yet
but what I need to know is: is there romantic developments between four-eyes the MC and the no-tits-ninja? That's really all I care about. MMOs are pretty boring.
God damn it Serara.
You're doing it slightly wrong. they wont remember the memory from reading the journal but you can at least keep track of who you were.
>not using real world innovation and technology
>not building weapons of mass destruction and subjugating every single thing
Adventurers don't need filthy landers, they don't even know how to cross oceans before the adventurers came along.
She wants him to put his Log in her Horizon, but four-eyes is too busy ruling the world to give her the D.
It's not really a show about a game like SAO, it's more about making Keikakus and winning at politics.
>they don't even know how to cross oceans before the adventurers came along.
They do. They built a fearie powered ship as opposed to the adventurer's steampowered one.
This is something only a Western barbarian would say
Huge tons of teasing, specially in the ED.
>MUH AMERICAN WAY
That all sounds pretty boring, if only because of the MMO setting.
Sort of? Volume 5 (what will be episodes 20-25) will be chock-full of wishy-washy romance (and politics). And lots of romantic angst from no-tits-ninja and Shiroe 2.0
Shiroe and Nureha both worked out a potential method of perma-death, but they obviously haven't tested it.
if you want action then this is the wrong show for you.
log horizon is wordswordswords, worldbuilding and politics with some character development on the side
wordwordswords doesn't bug me, but MMOs do unfortunately.
>not building weapons of mass destruction and subjugating every single thing
This is japan, not mmurca
Also, adventurers are mostly free-spirited players. Why would you force them into clerical and managerial duties when you can hire landers to do them for cheap?
Lastly, >M-Muh Guns
typical western gun-fantasy. Thanfully, Mamare already said guns here are either too overpowered to be able to equip or too obsolete in the face of magical bows that can destroy villages with a single arrow and fireballs that can chase multiple targets all at once.
It needs more sex and porn actresses like Game of Thrones
it's a real world with some MMO mechanics
It's slow-paced, but I've never felt bored watching it. It has a fantastic amount of depth. A lot of the side-characters are interesting enough that they would be protagonists in any other series. Which is probably why it has four spinoffs dedicated to side characters.
here's something better
They aren't actually NPCs, rather they are beings from another world in which the "game" creators had been meddling with magics of various sorts before finally creating adventurers in the form of avatars controlled by computers in our world. These avatars would be given an almost omniscient view of what the people of the land needed in the form of "quests". When the apocalypse happened those that were in the game merged with their avatars and are now in this strange magical world with some of the same magical menus as before but without the seeming omniscience about what quests needed to be done and where they were available. The people of the land had regarded adventurers as tool like people only in it for loot and they didn't mind paying these powerful, if robot like, adventurers in order for the jobs to get done.
>mostly free-spirited players
I feel so sorry for Marielle, Charasin and most especially Shiroe.
>Marielle wants to just laze around but Henrietta won't let her
>Charasin just wants to take it easy and make profits but Shiroe has other plans for him and his extensive communications network
>Shiroe just wants to explore the world and test how to break the game world-physics but Crusty as well as the rest of council drop so much work on him to keep him leashed.
Not wanting to be able to fight/live while constantly inebriated like Jackie chan.
He didn't mention guns
Plus we already had a town where they started. The bloody lander guards were idiots for not just grabbing the mechas in that town.
Now you're just being annoying. what were you thinking coming into an anime based on MMO's for reasons other than to be annoying/? You've clearly stated you dont want to see an MMO multiple times so gtfo the MMO animes.
Not confirmed by jack shit so it's basicallyjust you making shit up.
>too obsolete in the face of magical bows that can destroy villages with a single arrow
This. Why need guns when you can just read a few tomes and learn fucking magic?!
>Not knowing about Kanami
Well, now we know who the monk's going to be.
Damn that image is spot-on.
"SHIROE WE NEED YOU TO READ AND SIGN THESE TWO HUNDRED NEW CONTRACTS."
"But I want to see if I can combo these fireballs into a Raid-Level spell--"
"SHIROE THERE'S MORE MAPS TO WRITE DOWN."
They play MMOs to have fun, not to work. Now they have to worry about things like grocery shopping and industrial espionage and building bridges and... politics
Nureha has. It plagues her dreams at night.
God, think of the american server
>A huge guild, essentially an empire, makes a WMD and tests it on a lander kingdom that wouldn't bow to their might and power.
>nevermind the fact that they could have walked over the landers, but they one shot the entire fucking kingdom just to prove a point.
the pure audacity of something like this would be amazing to witness firsthand
>implying black heart glasses won't jump directly on how he can create his own world-level spell from a contract
Why so analpained?
>Didn't mention guns
That's a dirty lie.
>Mamare-san, can people create modern technology like guns or television if they have a high enough skill and real-life knowledge? >There's a possibility, but there's a difference between making things and actually using them. Even if you make a very powerful weapon, you might need to be level 200 to be actually able to use it.
... You have a point.
People in glasses are truly terrifying.
Is it mentioned that every class can learn magic and cast shit? You want to outfit an army you put weapons that everyone can use with relatively little training. Wonder why we went from long bows to crossbows to guns?
Most of the american cities arepretty bad right now but theres alot of em so the rest could probably be doing awesome.
New York descended into riots because a person tried to hoard the food trick.
I hear another place turned into a cut worshipping a raid boss.
Not sure on the other cities but there are about 5 more cities.
Oh yeah...she kind of has her own thing going on at the moment, though. No doubt she'll wander into the main story at some point so we can turn our Akatsuki/Minori/Shiroe triangle into a love quadrangle.
It makes you wonder why he doesn't just grab a few assistant scribes to do the work for him.
Minori does help out but he wants her to go out and grind instead.
>Kanami's Overskill. Shrinks recast time of attack combos drastically.
>Activates skills by going through motions manually, compressing both the movements and several skills together.
>With this method new combos can be achieved that wasn't possible before the <Catastrophe>. Results in huge damage.
>shiroe leanrs how to permakill adventurers
>turns out if you permakill them, they return to the real world
>abuses the shit out his scribe-ness and learns spells that could destroy everyone in the game
would he do it? or would he see how better everyone is in the game (tohya having legs, good food for cheap etc)
>implying guns won't need some Dex or whatever
In MMO evolution as I remember it, single monster loot contention didn't drive quests so much as it drove instances. The good gear migrated into instances, and spawncamping as a method of controlling access to good gear went away.
Quests initially came to the foreground to address grinding for XP, mechanically. And to deliver storyline and herd players from area to area thematically. Some gear inflation came later, but still, the best loot is instanced dungeon loot that the quest line points you towards.
Man. It weirds me out to go through the timelines like this. Also it reminds me that no one ever gets player economies right, and crafting still sucks in most games (because it has to compete with quest loot and the auction house and the cash shop and the faction vendors driving by faction reputation grinding and the pvp vendors driven by pvp grinding. And everything after 'auction house' in that list happened because the auction house is always fucked over by some combination of dupe bugs, gold sellers, scripting ultracapitalists, and any successful game amassing a legion of rich characters twinking their alts).
>Leaving out the non-lolis
Henrietta and Nureha are still in the running!
How far is the anime in the novels and how many volumes are out? How much longer is it expected to be?
>Worshipping anything but Jewish money
Next Episode is the one where Krusty is the Good Cop and Michi's the Bad Cop with Shiroe being the observer right?
He as in the anon you were responding to. You brought up the topic of guns out of nowhere.
>That feel when there is no room in the plot for Leonardo
That just reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
In the end, the virtual reality is no replacement for the real world---I mean, I'm assuming that if they die there it'll be over, right? But still, I'd prefer the virtual world. People are more free there, and are doing what they like.
If anything, he should make up a system that has people pass through some questions before going back, because they probably would never be able to return to Elder Tale, unless a new World Fraction occurs.
>Wonder why we went from long bows to crossbows to guns?
History lesson then.
Bows, despite its simplicity, required a crafter to actually make one. It usually takes about a week just to make one bow.
Crossbows were better in that, they were uniform-built but they still needed crafters to twine the bow and reloading them takes a while of about 5 shots per minute.
Guns trumps over both because they can be factory manufactured and doesn't require a high level of strength or skill to use and practically anyone can use a point-and-shoot weapon.
It's up to the first part of Volume 4, Chapter 2. The anime will end at the end of Volume 5. No clue if the Afterword will be animated (AKA Nureha time).
What if it was a Golem made of Jewish Gold?
Regardless, the anon you were responding to was wrong about what Mamare said about guns too.
>GTB from RO
After the ED of episode 25. Kanami and the Greatest Party Ever are watching the horizon. Cut to a promo for the animated version of the Overseas side-story.
But it'll never happen ;_;.
I would, just to see tohya in a wheelchair again.
Get the fuck out Marche
You forgot to mention training, as that is usually the bottleneck. Bows required a lot of training time to get proficient in its use.
Crossbows, you just had to teach the peasant how to load a bolt, crank the shit point it in the general direction and fire when told. Doesn't matter if it's slower, if you had 100 peasants but only 20 knew how to use a bow, compared to 100 peasants with crossbows after a week.
Maybe it'll be like RO's class branches?
>Swordsman becomes either Knight or Crusader
>Knight becomes either Lord Knight or Dragoon
>Crusader becomes either Paladin or Teutonic Knight
>Lord Knight becomes either Rune Knight or Winged Hussar
>Dragoon becocomes either Wyvern Knight or Wyvern Lord
>Paladin becomes either Royal Guard or Black Guard
>Teutonic Knight becomes either Kaiser Ritter or Übermensch
>Rune, Hussar, Wyverns, Guards, KR and Superman diverge again, etc
Now that you mentioned that, I remember a murder that was committed just to get that card
That sounds okay, but I was really hoping for multi-classing.
>take knight and monk
>max defense, max evade
Ah. Actually, I think the preview DID say there's multiclassing and unlockables based around multiclassing
>Why not both?
>Take wizard and rogue
>Proc sneak attacks with spells
Man, DnD is fun. Gestalt, even more so.
And then the bottleneck to crossbows was that it took considerable strength to get a decent rate of fire, and the effective range wasn't anything to write home about.
Matchlocks were dirt cheap, insanely effective for their price, and you could train a peasant to operate one acceptably in a couple of hours.
Okay, see. THAT's better.
But it also means grinding will be a supreme bitch since you have to max a certain jobclass to actually be viable. Just no point half-assing something and multiclassing into 1st level jobs.
Can I roll a kensai mage?
you guys keep forgetting that the skills associated with several ranged things will trumph over any straight shooter
unless there are new skills with guns that appear
I feel like postponing other series I've started some more and get into this one, which subs are the least shit?
Fuck yes. Soulknife and Sorcerer
At level 12, I can do pic related.
>Grinding will be a supreme bitch
Of course. It's korean. But with 80 classes with 80 x 80 combinations, you can pull off a quirky build that no one never expects. Hell in then back in early RO, they had weird shit like Agi swordsmen and FullCrit sins.
Gestalt is hilarious
I made a Scout/monk just for shits once
I never got hit by anything that couldn't move more than 40 ft a round, and even then It was still rarely
This isn't adnd you little shit. Oldfags pls go.
I hope 5e goes well.
>quirky build that no one never expects
I was some of the few hunters that rolled high luck builds.
My damage output was shit but dear fuck, I laughed so hard when the knight is stunlocked and raging so hard from all the autoblitzes I keep tossing at him.
man AGI swordsman I liked it in RBO
Did those stop being a thing? 'Cause AFAIK those builds were the norm, not quirky.
Yeah, but it did kind of suck in earlier editions how lame single-class characters were compared to multi-classed gods. No idea what it's like now.
>First playthrough of BG2
"I'll play a paladin, I like paladins"
>10 painful hours later
"Fuck! I'm sick of getting wrecked every fight! Maybe I'll reroll a Mage/Kensei. I think I read somewhere that they were good...?"
>Am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.
If Mamare came back to 4chan tomorrow for another Q&A, what would you ask him?
>Will Henrietta grow with love too, or is she too plain?
>Is there still a level cap of 100, or can you increase your level past that?
>Do you need the Sailor subclass to sail a ship or be a member of its crew, or can anyone build a raft and sail over the ocean?
>Can you negotiate with intelligent demihumans like The Goblin King?
>Does the NA server have a tribal/Native American aesthetic, or a Colonial one?
Is he an open pervert or a closet pervert?
When the new classes came. The sins nowdays are just generic deeps and derive most of their damage from braindead skills and expensive buffs.
Rogue is still cool though. Fighting as a rogue is so asymetrical it's hilarious.
Wait what? When did he ever come to 4chan.
What colour pantsu does he wear.
Luck hunters were a viable build in PvP RO
As long as you could keep something in stunlock long enough for your wizard to drop his biggest spell on the unlucky fucktard
Well, Oyatsu at least typesets everything.
But their translations are a little poor, and they're slow as shit.
>Is it possible to change classes at a whim/with due practice, or are you truly stuck with yours?
>Are there other currencies in the world, or does everyone only use gold coins?
>Will Scribes see more recognition/will it be shown that Scribes can write contracts for quests to be carried out and successfully award experience points?
>Will Rudy become even more amazing?
>Are there more plans for side-stories?
"If the old world ended thousands of years ago, how come there are still cars lying around? The metal frame should have rusted within a century at most!"
In October and December. We had two QA sessions.
Look on the LH wiki. NOT THE WIKIA.
Last time, he said that you could change subclasses through quests and such. That was all.
The kind of crossbow you'd hand to a bunch of new recruits is actually even easier to use. The big stuff with the cranks and pulleys were for professional mercs. Everyone else used small ones with a foot stirrup and hook lever. So easy a child could do it. Easier than muzzle loading guns with ramrods.
What's understated is that the muzzle loaders still took over before guns actually got easier to use than crossbows. I'm thinking it's because the primary motivator was the ye old big asse cannon. It's made of the same stuff, fires ammo made of the same stuff, and eats the same fuel. And you really, really want to use a bunch of cannon in your army and navy if you can. And if you can make and supply cannon, you can make and supply muskets easier than you can make and supply crossbows.
Magic. The world was remade by the gods, at half-size, and they probably recreated everything.
MMH, that's interesting.
Perhaps classes in the future, hopefully!
It was also easier to mass-produce the necessary ammunition and parts. And it punctured armor better, with greater damage.
That said, the Chinese were still using repeating crossbows into the 19th century.
And just think: With an appearance change potion, she wouldn't even need to diet to lose weight, so maybe she likes being fat?
Will Miss Minori win the Shiroeb owl?
Wasn't the Chinese dynasty more concerned about keeping their citizenry disarmed than the real external threats?
What happens to Cathar merchant republics? Do you get sexy female merchants?
>the old world ended thousands of years ago
When is he coming back? Anyone know?
They mean the Alv world, before the first known World Fraction.
>Wasn't the Chinese dynasty more concerned about keeping their citizenry disarmed than the real external threats?
>implying its limited to the past
Even now, the chinese government still fears the potential powderkeg from blowing up.
As the other guy said, even now.
But back then, the repeating crossbow was used in serious military formations as a weapon intended to be used in urban combat against enemies. Considering the Europeans would be wearing cloth and wool, and that any range advantage would be negated in tight urban streets...
It was basically a poor, sick country's gatling gun.
Well thats partly because it did blow up in the 80s which forced them to perform one of the biggest media blackouts in modern history, shitcan their top leadership, and shove the populist dissenters out of Tienamen Square with tanks.
>Will Henrietta grow with love or is she just too plain?
I like Henrietta, I think she's a nice girl.
Also her hips are fucking delicious.
Nobody knows. Just pray. Maybe poke him on Twitter.
So when blacksmiths make swords is there a difference between swords they make using real world techniques vs pressing a button? Like the difference between the real cooking and pressing the button disgusting cooking.
Would they ever be able to make guns?
The 80s were a weird time for China.
I'd assume that it works differently for blacksmithing though, because the thing about the food was that it looked good but tasted like shit.
The chronology is this:
1. Time of the Ancients (our time.)
The Ancient world ended somehow and the Gods rebuilt it into the Elder Tales world. They left behind a lot of the buildings and shit though, hence why Akihabara and such are still recognizable.
2. The Alvs
who dominated the other races by virtue of their OP racial trait. They got wiped out by the other races, resulting in...
3. The time of strife
When the world was nearly wiped out by the Alv's revenge. The arrival of the worlds' saviors, the Adventurers, ushered in:
4. The age of adventure
The era where the Adventurers were seen as mindless robots by the Landers, and vice-versa. This could be considered the "Game period". That ended with...
5. The Apocalypse
We know lots about how little we know about this. Also known as "The end of the Game".
Some of those names are unofficial--Just my way of thinking of them.
Long story short, an actual memory and a piece of paper telling you that the time you had with your friends last Tueday was totally radical/gnarly are two very different things.
I don't doubt the effectiveness of the repeating crossbow, but at the time the Western arms trade was big business. Muskets were going everywhere, but the only thing the Chinese got from the foreigners was heroin addiction and Christianity.
I haven't played in a year or two, what the fuck is that?
How are Alvs different from Elves?
I want to forge swords enchanted by bathing them in the blood of a hundred virgins.
Apparently Alvs are a flavor of Elves that used terraforming magics for construction as opposed to traditional nature conservationists Elves. That fucking unexplained blue crystal is everywhere.
Opium and trade imbalance too.
It's funny, people like to say that Opium is worse than marijuana, but really, it's about the same.
Which reminds me, how are goblins constantly respawned? Do they lose part of something like a memory too? Is there a way to permakill them?
That's an ambiguous question.
There are half-alvs in the show (Marielle, Shiroe), but these are the descendents of centuries of furious rape. Seriously.
If you're asking how they differ from your average fantasy elf...the only difference is that your average elf isn't so hot on magical technology.
Hurk, the Edgy 2h berserker play him for maximum edgy
Lorewise, the sparkly bubbly soul stuff materializes into demihumans which spawn out of thin air. However in the post-Apoc, goblins respawn as babies that require years to grow.
>they made a Guts character
fucking hell what
>After the apocalypse
Wait, are you sure about that?
>Wasn't the Chinese dynasty more concerned about keeping their citizenry disarmed than the real external threats?
There were many different Chinese dynasties, with varying periods of war and peace. Plus bloody multi-decade civil wars in between. It's ridiculously complicated.
So essentially to defeat them you could just whittle away at their forces steadily and then capture the baby ones, and kill them over and over again for a fuckton of free XP and no more goblins, right?
She's an Elf.
Goblins are reborn as babby goblins and grow to full maturity again in 2-3 years. The process is similar to how Adventurers respawn, except they don't need a Cathedral. What they lose in this process is unknown at the moment, nor is there an obvious way to wipe them out.
Alv is actually Jew.
At least try to civilize them first goddamn.
Alvs seem to have been "ancient techno-elves" of some description.
I would not say edgy
atleast I dont make my Hurk edgy
>The process is similar to how Adventurers respawn
Do you mean adventurers have to wait for a certain period before being able to go out again or something? Or do you just mean the reborn part
Oh yeah, you're right.
Elves and Alves appear to be entirely separate races. Elves are your typical treehugger types, while Alves had flying cars and shit.
Maybe what they lose is life experience? And that's why they spawn as babbies?
How do LH threads always turn into /tg/?
Bullshit. The jews got far because of Godhax and Based King Solomon. The Alvs look like they were a technomagi race that were either overrun by the other races or somehow blew themselves up.
Ah! Thank you kindly for the clarification, anon-san.
When Akatsuki died in Vol6, I think it took her about twelve hours to respawn, including time spent sleeping.
The latter. Adventurers and Demi-humans both get dematerialized, so to speak, and their souls are forcibly sent into a new body much like their old one.
Because waifu wars gets old and Minorifags and Henriettafags don't stand a chance anyway.
Because LH is a show that hits all of /tg/'s buttons?
Consider this. Replace magic with money and technomagi with bank. There you go.
Is this true? If so that would make them demon class evil.
the round table was ok in my book but holding everyone hostage like that is just too much.
Wait, but. Isn't it supposed to be instantaneous?
Doubtful. Akatsuki is like Grand Princess Fire Dragon in Maouyuu in her feelings for Shiroe.
So was it a biological difference or a civilization one?
First time I've ever seen someone else who plays Rappelz here. Way to be a useless priest, faggot.
Money is not a weapon!
Because all boards are actually /tg/ in disguise.
That sounds about right to me. Can anyone else see any flaws in that?
Nope. When she dies, it's about 11PM. She goes to the moon, the old test server, and talks with Shiroe there, since he'd died as well and happened to be there, and wanders with him for a while. Very comfy/adorable/waifu. Then they both sacrifice some of their memories, and Akatsuki comes back to life in the Akiba Cathedral while Shiroe presumably respawns in Susukino's. It's about 11AM, and Akatsuki mentions that she'd spent some time sleeping after she respawned.
Nah, you have to spawn camp because they only respawn in specific places.
Just like Cathedrals.
Died fighting a level 110 Royal Guard that had all the powers of an Ancient Raid Boss. Soujiro died in the process as well, since they were both fighting it.
>Money is not a weapon!
In Kill la Kill it literally was.
There's one or two I can think of, but they contain spoilers.
Here's an obvious one, though: if all the Goblins and monsters are dead, the Adventurers are shit-out of a job.
What did she forget?
Did she forget about the Shiroe?
We don't know and no.
So why doesn't she meet Soujirou?
So the world in Elder tale is the real one and what about the world where the adventurer came from? The past?
I can't avoid not knowing this anymore.
Possibly the memory she relived just before she realised she was on the moon. Wandering through a city on the average day, feeling small, crushed in.
Maybe he respawned faster. It's not said, just that she met Shiroe there.
No, its not.
Our world is boring as fuck.
ET world is the same as ours, but they have dwarves and elves and alves.
I wish I had that Read or Die gif still...
Wait, if ET is based on EQ, then dying means your body disappears but your equipment stays on the ground.
That means Akatsuki and Shiroe should be both naked when they were in the moon server.
So they can pick what they want to forget while they're at the moon?
Can adventurers get pregnant/give birth?
Why can't adventurers force the People of the land to do manual labor for them? Is it just a moral reason?
Now I'm getting images of her getting so close to him he can't look and forcing hm to keep his eyes upward.
Holy shit, this thread is still up?
WWB manga is canon enough for me.
It's a preview picture from some website or something. I dunno, I just grabbed it off of 4chan.
>Why can't adventurers force the People of the land to do manual labor for them? Is it just a moral reason?
Moral reasons, plus people will only work so much before death is preferable. Same reason our masters in this world don't force you to work 24-7 until you die.
When does the 8th volume come out?
>Same reason our masters in this world don't force you to work 24-7 until you die.
What world do you live in? We're not forced to work 24 hours straight only because replacing a dead employee costs more than keeping the old one in working condition.
Do I spy nipple?
Honestly she probably has seen Akatsuki in the buff more than a few times with all those outfits.
Someone has broken Akatsuki's spine here. Poor girl.
It's mentioned that when the Apocalypse happened, suddenly all the in-game avatars that were automatically wearing underwear were switched to straight naked.
Panties, bras, bikinis and so on now sell among female Adventurers for roughly the price of a mid-tier (level 40-45) magic item.
So I'm imagining WoW here where you've got some people who dance in their underwear throughout the city just cause.
>replacing a dead employee costs more than keeping the old one in working condition.
It really depends on the job, honestly. Some jobs can be done by any idiot with no training, some can't. Then there are jobs where it doesn't matter if the employees even know what they're doing, as long as there's a warm body in the building boss man is gonna make money.
Basically, this world is shit and I welcome the Apocalypse any time.
Do the NPCs wear underwear? If yes, why don't they try selling them since it appears to fetch such a high premium. I remember in the novels some NPC was selling jam but I can't imagine that selling for much.
>I welcome the Apocalypse any time.
Every time though, somebody has to unite the people from becoming barbarians and establish a working functional civilization, and again, somebody is going to be in some office doing managerial work because of that.
And even if a society isn't established, a market will be, and somebody will be a total jew at the top.
If you really wish true freedom, rough it out in the woods.
One thing that bothers me about the anime is that we see monsters instantly bursting into treats when killed but the LN states that they leave corpses that disappear after a little while. Is this just a case of lazy animators?
No, no, not a real apocalypse. The kind where I get to be a super powered magic man in a world of swords and sorcery. A World Fraction. I'd just die in a normal apocalypse. At least in Elder Tales I'd have my skeletons.
Nanotech. Seriously, Mamare's notes are riddled with comments about old cities, factiories, and the like having nanotechnology.
It airs on a government-funded educational channel. Censoring.
Not so much lazy as the cartoon is aimed at elementary school children. I'm not saying that as an insult; it's the sad truth that makes a WWB anime pretty much impossible.
A real shame. I mean, at least it'll get a second season (hopefully), but still.
Damn it, I would have loved to see Nazuna doing what she does best, being a total bro.
Thats not an Adventurer city, it was a Lander city
We havn't heard much about America and what condition it's in, but only the Big Apple is said to be in a shitty state
The only other thing of importance I remember is a guild of cavalry subclass adventurers going around exploring the continent like pioneers
Equipped items stay on your body, anything in your inventory is dropped on the ground. That's how PK-ing works.
Don't take me too seriously, there's maybe an outside possibility that the WWB manga might get adapted. It's not like NHK has exclusive rights or Satelight hasn't done anime with boobs before. It's all up to negotiations with the rights holders.
Why doesn't Mamare make VNs of his LNs? I'd love to play a Log Horizon VN.
>Big Apple is stuck in gang wars
>Great Lakes takes their boats to to the coasts close to Jean Drapeau and build dirigibles for the rest of the trip to the Big Apple
>Brotherhood takes a straight march to the city
>Dixie sails the coastline with thousands of cavalry reinforcements
What would Everyone in the Big Apple do if they arrived at the same time?
Calling in all help to make this happen.
Dunno what the difference, in stats, between real world method and menu based method, but the major difference between them in concerns to gear is that hand made gear can get dirty, and has to be washed and repaired by hand, while menu made(or dropped gear) is cleaned instantly when it's repaired.
Most likely the same goes for regular swords made with real world techniques, so you have to have a blacksmith repair your blade the normal way if it gets messed up, and you'd probably have to sharpen it. The other major difference is you can make whatever you desire, with enough skill.
>Why doesn't [favorite author] make VNs of his LNs? I'd love to play a [author's works] VN.
Man, I'm still hurting from Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon
gentlemen, I think its time for a new thread.
He answered this in the last Q&A. We'll find out after 6-9 months have passed in novel.
No discussion from me.
