I can't recall a decent delinquent girl in recent memory.
Closest recently was probably Kanako from Oreimo but in the anime she was watered down and all but cut from the show.
I was hoping the main heroine from Nisekoi would fit the bill, I haven't read the source but daughter of a gangster, could have worked out.But she is just another Tsundere.
Sugawa from fap note was probably the best, being a doujin the writer didnt have to succumb to censorship.
Best we get it glimpses, flashes in the pan of girls acting out (Nadeko- mongatari, Ayatsuji - amagamiSS, etc). Or we get girls that appear to be but arent really (tooki - SYD, former banchou - minami-ke, Tomoyo - clanned, etc)
Under appreciated and under used character archetype. It isn't even as though they have to put effort into the character development, its a pretty cut and dry arc, but it would be nice to change up the current Tsudere+genki+"generic nice girl who loses"+crazy+mind of an infant set up everything uses there days.
While I don't generally find the Railgun filler material much good, I did like that delinquent girl that they threw into one or two episodes in the first season.
Is this your fetish?
I want to contribute something intelligent, but all I can think about is that I mostly agree with you. I'd like to see an actual romance with an actual delinquent girl, where comedy isn't overplayed, like in Yandere Kanojo. So far, the best examples of delinquent girls I can think of come from hentai, which is obviously not really prime material for character development.
Taiga was basically a delinquent and was quite well received. When is the last time we had two girls fight that wasn't just a couple of slaps which gradually transitioned into a Yuri scene?
>Sugawa from fap note was probably the best, being a doujin the writer didnt have to succumb to censorship.
How do you mean? The risque-est thing I recall being done with her was showing her in her bra and panties.
(Nice rack, by the way)
Speaking of Delinquent Girls, anyone here read Hime-doll? That one got a delinquent main heroine, thought she try to change herself from that image. It ended pretty quickly though.
She looked pretty god in her uniform, too.
There is definitely a lot of potential in it. I always thought delinquent and normal makes for a great tragic romance thing.
"only way to stay together is for delinquent to change but in doing so wouldn't be the same person, etc, etc." or "two delinquents feed of each other to a point of mutually assured destruction and need to break up".
There is so much that can be done and because its set in such clear boundaries of right and wrong it is easy to write and easier to make interesting by manufacturing gray areas.
Long skirts where ?
The delinquent character type gets encored to hell. Echii is fucking everywhere, there could be a loli getting doubled teemed and so long as there was a slight sun beam in the right place it would get aired.
They censor shit like underage smoking, skipping classes, talking back to elders, that sort of bad influence type shit.
There was that white-haired girl in Oregairu.
Interesting. Weird but interesting, the things people'll deliberately keep out of fiction.
Sugawa is shit. I love delinquent girls but she's shit.
They referenced the practice somewhat in bakuman. They wrote a manga about kids who steal stuff and replace it with exact copies. It was really popular but they were told it would never get an anime because it was a story about kids stealing shit.
Kind of the opposite of western censorship.
Damn, really ?
That's good to know.
Why hasn't anyone posted candystore yet? And thigh-chan from Aiura(she counts as one right?)?
How long skirts are allowed anyway ?
I though it was the purpose of an uniform.
We don't know that she's a delinquent. Unless you count trying to take over the world.
We're not living in the 80s anymore, people.
Ranmaru from Binbougami ga!
Are gyaru considered delinquent girls?
Good recent example, Kanako from ore no imouto. In the LN she smokes and gets in fights, not against the MC as a joke but with other people when they piss her off.
She never smoked in the anime, virtually any violence by her was removed but the 2 tsundere characters could belt the shit out of the MC all day.
Daidouji-senpai from Senran Kagura
It's delinquents who may adopt a few things from gyaru fashion.
There was this episode of Doki Doki Precure of in which Mammo dressed up as a gyaru sukeban, complete with tan, heavy makeup and full lenght skirt.
>talking back to elders
I'd love to see a show that feature that.
What, did you copy the subtitle?
in nyan koi the childhood friend spent a whole half an episode looking like this before cutting that shit right out. I was cool with that though, gangurou is weird
Note that this intentional self-censorship begun as early as the Sailor Moon manga. Jupiter was supposed to smoke and be a sukeban...
In fact, most non-villain-of-the-week delinquent boys and girls you see in anime are actually very nice people who just happen to be the strongest in the school, instead of, say, neglected adolsecents who consider their gang to be their family more than their parents, and that cause mischief or worse.
Really surprised it doesn't come up more from a place where that shit is so heavily indoctrinated into their society.
Either almost no one there wants to say "fuck the system" or they are just determined to censor it and sweep the issue under the rug until it explodes.
>tfw out of college now.
>no Delinquent qt gf
They're really that brainwashed, huh ?
>almost no one there wants to say "fuck the system"
If this was the eighties, you'd see more ultraviolent anime or manga where everyone is a dick, authority doesn't work, teachers are assholes, cops are just another gang, and all you can trust is your nakama.
because god forbid they ever address the idea of civil discontent.
"nothing is ever wrong ever. If you think it is, grit your teeth and keep it to yourself so that you don't bother everyone else"
That Karasuyama from D-Frag
ha! that was one of the first VHS I ever brought. real delinquents use mutha' fuck'n yo-yo's son.
the 80's in general were indicative of untra violence, post apocalyptic hell-scapes were all the rage because everyone expected it to happen.
>because god forbid they ever address the idea of civil discontent.
So far, I think only Jin-Roh did it right.
Less that and more kids being impressionable as fuck so you keep that kind of material away from them.
but what of the slippery slope that brings with it?
Removing the notion of questioning authority leads to a very dark place.
You don't need a children's comic book to tell you to question those in power.
Adding on to that.
I haven't read a single manga yet that paints cops as anything other than rebranded Yakuza or lazy and incompetent.
Presently, delinquentfags are forced to:
- wait for the occasional reference, like Joshiraku girls dressed like Jotaro
- pretty much deal with "familiy friendly" delinquents as described in >>100532465
- settle for "tough" and/or "rebellious" girls who aren't exactly delinquents, like, say, KLK's Ryuuko
Just who the fuck do I have to pay to see a highschooler wearing a full lenght skirt and blowing smoke in somebody's face?
She's not a real delinquent though.
Yeah I read it as well. Pretty good except it was a bit short since the ending felt rushed...
Maybe you should watch something other than a children's cartoon
wow the resemblance to Afruo is uncanny.
If everything else hides the possibility from you and reprimands you for doing it yourself, you tend to start towing that line.
police being lazy and incompetent is a reflection on how they are simply unnecessary.
LN and manga have more leeway with it as opposed to anime because the anime is more dependent on sponsors and the stations advertisers.
Ya know, yuri manga features lots of delinquent girls. You see delinquent x genki girl, delinquent x uptight girl, delinquent x shy girl...but has there ever been a story where a delinquent girl falls in love with another delinquent girl?
Surely there must be a senpai x kouhai kind of thing within a gang.
I tried a few, most seemed to be short or just one shots. Outside of saying that she is she never seemed to do anything out of the ordinary.
Yuri delinquent x delinquent could be cool though. Fighting prejudice and blowing smoke at the teachers telling them to to go after the dick instead.
In Working!! the manager and the blonde girl with the sword fit that description. Though it's only referenced in flash backs, I don't think its ever explored.
Not my cup of tea (art/plot-wise), but Onidere has the faggot MC coupled with a leader of a girl gang.
Accurate portrayal of a delinquent girl or trite fanservice? You decide.
Don't mind me. Best delinquent girl coming through.
That's not Renna.
was just looking about, I'm guessing there's no english patch for it?
I haven't heard of anyone working on translating it. Kind of odd, considering Majikoi's popularity.
Though a midtier knowledge of Japanese and text hookers is enough to enjoy it.
Pretty sure there isn't. At least, I haven't heard of one up until now.
Kind of a shame, it's a fun game and I'm sure it'd be popular among the Majikoi fanbase over here.
Not popular enough for JUMP it seems.
