My Kill la Kill Limited BD just arrived. I didn't have to pay import tax on it for some reason which was nice, it must have slipped through.

Still waiting on my fucking Non Non Biyori soundtrack which has been in customs for about a week now according to the Japan Post's tracking.

Does anybody know anything about AmiAmi's Madoka "exclusive paperweight" thing? What is it supposed to be, an engraved block or something? I can't find pictures of it.

Brazil. The tax equals 60% of the total value (labeled price + shipping). But if the value is under US$ 50 and sent by a... a "house" kind of adress then I don't have to pay anything (also GIFT doesn't mean shit around here).

I did a couple of orders at Jungle recently and had no problems at all (since they underpriced it), and that made me and my wallet truly glad.

So I bought some stuff on a convention near me and, hell I love it and really want more stuff, there is just one question to you guys before I get my hopes up.

If I want to collect figurines and live in eu (austria) am I fucked? I saw in the link they show us shops, but no eu shops, will the import cost kill my hopes? I can't spend 100€ per figurine, what would be the average price for me?
>>
Those gaping holes ruin it.
>>
>>100540011
Read the fucking guide
>>
>>100540011
First off, don't buy at conventions. Most stuff you'll probably have to import, so that might be bad news for you. Looking at the current rates, I would say that your average cost per fig, plus shipping, would be maybe 70-80€? Not too sure how your import fees would be though. That's just a rough guess on my part though, so do some research before you make any actual purchases. The guide would be a great place to start.
>>
>>100539939
Didn't think of that, cheers, but yeah, I really like the short hair look on her, but the holes where the hair should be detract from it a good bit. Oh well, maybe one day we'll get a short-haired BRS.

I think the total opposite, that hair is a wonder of PVC sculpting and adds quite a bit of detail to the figure as a whole.
>>
>>100540297
Don't buy figmas, that always ends up in you looking back in regret since you know that you could have bought a fewer, better scales rather than cheaping out for shit that nobody really wants.
>>
>>100540443
Oh yeah, the hair's really well done, no arguments there, I guess I just like 'em short. Now that I've fully assembled it, I see that it would look out of place to have the hair missing (what with the giant lance and all),
>>
>>100540011
80 Euro with shipping for a quality scale. You live in a wealthy country, so you should afford it if you have a job.
>>
>>100540685
I think you are forgetting a few things, for one quality scales have gone past the 10kY mark as of late (71 Euro), RSAL is dead, and last add a 30% tax on top of that.

They often do both.

Recast and painted recast. But they're not the same price, and not produced in the same volume.

Mostly you can get the unpainted GKs far longer than the painted (mostly made in preorder quantities) variants.
>>
>>100540230
In my experience conventions aren't much more expensive than importing yourself, since it costs a shitload to send stuff to Europe anyways and you have the horror of import tax looming over you.

The resin they use by itself has very good properties for assembly and painting.

You'll still work with glue, sandpaper, and so on. There are sections left over from production that you cut and file away first, then you paint.

It's however very reasonable if you wanted to assemble and paint a figure yourself. A bit of extra work with dremel/proxxon tool and sandpaper won't change anything fundamental about that hobby.

5 weeks. I know SAL can take up to 3 months, but another order I made in late December already arrived and customs tends to hold up all my orders so that they can send them together, so if it's not here yet it's unlikely that it'll show up. Most likely those were rapid prototyping machines, yes, they have a way better resolution. That shit was printed with a 2kUSD printer, the same printers everybody seems to hype instead of focusing on the industrial segment which have been around for 30 years and is way more refined.
>>
>>100546697

>Not to mention plastics are getting more expensive due to petroleum reserves dieing.
once we don't need oil for cars and energy anymore we can substitute that what we still need for plastics with oil from bio waste
>>
>>100546988
Except PVC can be obtained by recycling other plastics, the materials used in printing can;t since you need them to be highly pure to avoid clogging the noozles.
>>
>>100547087
Oh, i didn't know that. Good, I didn't want my chinese plastic toys to disappear.
>>
>>100546940
Then use Big in Japan's proxy service, and if you want to save some money tell them to use Kuroneko mail for domestic shipping. If they actually select it you'll spend 80 Yen on domestic shipping instead of 400. The only downside is that it'll be sent in an envelope so it's less safe.
And this is assuming it doesn't sell out before they can buy it for you.
>>

Contrary to the popular belief 3D printers haven't gotten drastically better for the past 15ish years. The current hype is just for cheaper 3D printers, which basically step back 30 years when you take into account the quality.

You'd get infinitely better results with a homemade milling machine, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE THREE DEEE IN IT'S NAME, so the marketing guys hate it.
>>
>>100547542
Can't you guys use the plastic molding machine, I had one at my college when I did wood work.
They aren't too big.
I don't know how expensive they are though
>>
>>100541762
Yeah, I've got enough experience to usually tell whether something is a bootleg. Saw some of those Joyful GSC limited edition cheerleader miku once, however the guy was clearly not European, the price was way lower than the RRP and the quality was a bit iffy so I figured it was a bootleg.

Sometimes you find good stuff though, found an Alter Louise once.
>>
>>100547040
Don't think it's a coincidence, that's how they've been handling all my orders for half a year.
My customs are special. They're unsafe and will steal your packages if they feel like it.
>>
>>100547087
>>100547281

Umm, no.

PVC cannot be made by recycling other plastics (ABS, HIPS etc) since those plastics have a different chemical composite.

If you tried to use other types of plastic mixed with PVC you wouldn't have PVC and you'd lose the properties of PVC.

That's why there are recycle codes on plastic materials, so they don't get mixed with or contaminate other plastics.

-Supporting your favorite artists (whether the work is scanned or not)
-Having a backup copy
-Not having to wait for scans. (Especially around comiket time)

Also, due to doujinshji, (and even h-manga) not being scanned, owning a physical copy is sometimes the only way get a particular work.

There are official ones from Movic and Banpresto. They're just kind of hard to come by outside of Japan.

Try going for:
> 1/1 scale Kyubey plush
> Steins;Gate Upa plush
> Any of the Gift plushes (depending on your taste)
> 1/1 scale plush of your favorite smaller Pokemon
> Cospa plushes

figmas generally look better (better sculpt for faces, overall body line and natural appearance). Different companies. General consensus is to get figma if both options exist. Revolteches are fine for non-organic sculpts, like robots.

Your resistance to high price orders drops over time, especially if your income goes up dramatically.

I collect dakimakura covers, so I find myself spending 150-200+ a pop fairly often.

Depends on the item and how much money you have to burn, I wouldn't say there's a hard limit or rule to follow.

I think beyond $500 is where I'd stop and consider how much I really wanted whatever I was looking at. I usually stay under $150/item for normal purchases, and anything under $75 I have no issue pulling the trigger on if it's something I like.

$300 for a scale is probably about as high as I'd reasonably go, unless it was something I absolutely had to have.

Did it ever occur to you that the shirt you're measuring might have been worn too many times and loosened/lost its structural integrity?
>>
I need a regular sized pillow case, what search terms should I use?
>>
>>100570435
Post the full daki faggot.
>>
>>100571020
>grab a loose worn out shirt
>measure it
>it's x cm wide

>get a nip shirt with similar dimensions

How do I maths

It's about the sizing label conflict (small/medium/large).
>>
>>100571125
haha
>>
>>100571167
If you get a small shirt that has been stretched to the size of a large shirt and fits you comfortably, then you can measure that and grab a nip shirt that has similar numbered sizes. If you have a small shirt that was stretched to the same size as a large shirt, and just buy a small nip shirt, you are functionally stupid.
>>
>>100571235
No, it's about how the original guy was confused about the seeming sizing label mismatch.

I will teach you the secret to Japanese. Pay attention closely, because this is advanced level stuff

First, take the japanese word for hugging pillow cover, which is 抱き枕カバー (dakimakura kabaa)
Next, look up what each part means. I took a day off from work, so I could scour the internet, trying to get translations for each part of the word for you, and here is what I've found:
>抱き (daki) = to embrace; to hold in the arms; to hug
>枕 (makura) = pillow
>カバー (kabaa) = cover

Now, I figured out that if you were to somehow delete the "hugging" portion of the word, it would become just a "pillow cover"
Here is the result: 枕カバー

Here is the tough part: since you cannot use the - sign to indicate terms you want to exclude from searches on Mandarake, you will just have to search until you find what you want that doesn't have 抱き written before 枕カバー
Tough luck

Looky at what I bought a while ago: it's a normal sized pillow cover. Guess what it was called? It's a fucking 枕カバー.
>>
To whoever asked the original question, have you tried including the search term ハーフ before 抱き枕 or 抱き枕カバー or カバー? It means "half" and they are generally the size of 1/2 of a dakimakura cover, so pretty much normal-sized.

>>
>>100575420
If you're in the US, probably not very. You can ship hazardous materials in small quantities without special shipping methods. I doubt a perfume bottle will get caught though.

I really haven't bought enough in general lately, mostly just magazines/manga that come with stuff like that and the occasional prize figure when it's cheap at Jungle. There haven't been many PVC releases in the last year or so that I care about, I'm tapped out on Fate, Oreimo, etc, and everything else I'm really into lately is too new or it's an obscure manga.
