How should Dragon Ball be handled?

>makes too much money to drop it and leave it dead
>too much potential to just support it with re-releases and video games
>toriyama doesn't know what he's doing

Should Dragon Ball be rebooted from the original series, and be followed up with a series that is essentially more of the same rather than Dragon Ball Z-esque?
>>
it should be rebooted but it wont be. too much effort. theyll just milk the series until it starts to die years from now
>>
Bump.
>>
>>100525418
>toriyama doesn't know what he's doing
what makes you think that?

but i'd say they should keep doing movies like before KK that don't effect canon and don't insult us with any kind of story
>>
>>100525865
Toriyama regularly forgets details of his own shit, and it's clear he completely forgot a majority of personalities for the characters in the most recent movie.

If they do anything, they should re-try GT but leave out the ass-blasting stupidity and have it about fun adventure like it was supposed to be.
>>
>>100525968
nah, i think he just doesn't have any desire to do dragonball anything anymore. but a man can only refuse so much money. i'd say that's why we get bs like super saiyan gohan in early promos of KK.

also, any continuation of the story would just result in goku taking a center roll again. which would be retarded.
side stories won't work, continuations won't work, a reboot would be ill-advised.

just keep making movies to give the fans their fix without fucking with their emotions
>>
Let it go. It's been over for almost twenty fucking years.

MOVE THE FUCK ON.
>>
How did Kai do ratings wise?
>>
>>100526093
How about a spin-off about post-Cell shenanigans if Buu was never a thing?
I would love to see a proper Saiyaman arc, more focus on the side characters in general, etc.
There's tons of potential material. Future Trunks done proper instead of poor flashbacks from his POV, Ginyu Force shenanigans, King Cold shenanigans.

Actually, what I want to see the most is pre-Goku. When Roshi and Gohan were young and beating the shit out of things.
>>
>>100526192
It's too big to just "let it go".
>>
>>100526266
It's only big because you Brazilians are obsessed with it.

Toriyama wants to move on. Let him. Forcing him to work on the same fucking thing for thirty years when he doesn't want to is childish.
>>
>>100526334
He basically forced his way onto Battle of God and rewrote the entire script from the ground up.
>>
>>100526334
No one said it has to be Toriyama to work on it.
I'd love to see it done by someone else, but then again last time that happened we got GT.
>>
>>100526227
im sure the ratings were fine. but that's because the world, and japan even more so, loves db.

>>100526250

i'd be all about it, especially a young kame sennin story. but any new initiative would just fall into the same pitfalls that boo saga did. i mean, *that* was supposed to be a lot of what you're describing.
>>
>>100526334
>>100526375
Then he makes a new short manga series (Jaco) last year and incorporates it into the Dragon Ball universe. Does this indicate his willingness to move on?
>>
>>100526375
haha, false
>>
>>100526403
Yeah, I think out of all the possibilities, young Roshi would be best. Him and Gohan. Throughout Dragonball, I wanted nothing more than a few flashback chapters about him and Gohan, but it never happened, just talked about.
>>
>>100525418
Enjoying it, though, that's not the hard part. It's letting go.
>>
>>100526419
but not wanting to work on dragon ball anymore isn't the same thing as hating that whole part of his life. i'd say little winks to a story that was/is his livelihood doesn't say too much.
we are just talking about bulma's sister right? or has piccolo shown up or something, i thought i read it all but could be wrong.

i'd like to believe though.

let's toss some art in here
>>
>>100525418
Handling is basically made by Jump (Shueshia), at most they ask Toriyama if he feels ok with movies, games, etc.
>>
Expand Dragon Ball similarly to Yugioh with a new series and new cast of characters and new gimmick every time otherwise DB will just waste away the existing interest instead of generating new ones.
>>
>>100526871
won't work. mainstream want goku
>>
>>100526250
I'd rather post-Buu just so we could have Buu and Mr.Satan hijinks. I mean, Saiyaman was still a thing at that point, just with Videl as the sidekick, so that would still work.
>>
>>100529669
They could have gotten away with a series focusing on Future Trunks timeline after he returns from the future.
>>
>>100526334
reminds me a little of Kojima
>>
>>100530777
Kojima kinda deserves it.
>>
>>100529669

If they play their cards right, a new character can easily replace Goku.
>>
>>100526192
>>100526093
>just keep making movies to give the fans their fix without fucking with their emotions.

This.
I'm a huge fan but I agree making a new series would be retarded. Manga should not be handled like mainstream cape comics.
I wish Toryiyama would release more one shots like sand land and cowa. After reading his intro to Jaco I got the impression he doesn't really have the drive to make comics anymore. Ah well.....
>>
forget the insane power levels and make a next generation of characters more in line with pre-DBZ. no way they can keep rehashing Dragon Ball, everyone's bound to get bored sooner or later.
>>
animate Toriyamas one-shot stuff.
