Will David do a better job than Studio APPP?
You can't compare. APPP said "Fuck the manga" and did whatever they wanted. The style was completely different, they ignored everything except three fights and changed stuff in them.
But they had great animation and direction. I doubt David will pull of a D'arby as good as APPP.
That's for the 93 OVA, at least. The 2000 OVA was quite bad and I don't doubt David can do better than it.
I question why david was assigned this. Really, Sunrise, IG or Toei are mainstream and do these type of popular manga adaptions. Why did they choose someone so obscure?
Don't question why someone made a GOOD decision for a beloved franchise in anime, for once. We should just be glad it didn't get given to some shounenshit studio who would just crank out episodes with no shining reverence for the source material.
But Jojo is basically just shonenshit
Jojo is what inspired shonenshit along with Hoktuo no Ken. Saying the two are the same is like saying classic rock and pop music are the same. One influenced what the other is today but nine times out of ten, the recent model is incredibly inferior to the original source.
I don't particularly mind David. I think they do a good job and are very faithful to the source material but with them being a small studio and all they resort the above the waist slideshow tactic too often
You mean Dragon Ball and Hokuto no Ken.
Fucking hell no.
No. I meant Jojo. Of course DB had influence as well but part 3 is what introduced a way to have sprawling battles without the use of a tournament or training arc. DB didn't really add anything new to the table except maybe endless regeneration.
I thought we were talking about shounenshit, not tropes.
I finished the manga last week and only tackled the 2000 series. I have no clue whose bright decision it was to adapt the later parts of Part 3 in 93 and then make a prequel in 2000. Anyway, the 2000 OVAs are complete shit. They made it dark and edgy when it was supposed to be over-the-top and comedic, and the voicing also seemed off. Is the 93 series even worth watching if I read the manga?
Overall, probably. So far, the series is surprisingly good, and sticks to the manga very faithfully.
I don't see why it wouldn't continue to be as good as it's been so far.
The only thing I find hard to beat would be the fight scenes. The D'arby and Dio encounters were especially amazing.
It's tropes in shounenshit, dumbass.
David Bro will find a way.
It's next to impossible to match the action animation in the OVAs, but David Pro's adaptation could surpass it in other aspects.
>WHERE DID THAT JUICE COME FROM
There's no way they'll be able to make the poker scene any better.
oh god please let David prove me wrong
Dio's monstrous appearance and the tanker ruined the whole fight for me. David can do it!
Oh shit, you guys are making me want to check out the 1993 OVAs now.
The thing is that neither the stands or the "sprawling" battles that Stardust Crusaders had are really part of the recent or 90s shounenshit media, if something it took the "serious" format that HnK and DB had (Battles in other planets -uncommon places), the only shit that Jojo probably developed in other titles is the westaboo shit for action manga.
Good thing we will have both.
You didn't watch it yet? What a fag.
This dude. This dude gets it.
I was put off and frustrated after the 2000 OVAs. I didn't think the 1993 ones would even be worth checking out, though I see they're from a different studio now.
whats it gonna be d'arby?
WHATS IT GONNA FUCKING BE
Chapter 28 scanlation when?
that scene, for me, is the definition of "spaghetti falls out"
need to make gifs sometime
