Why do Miyazaki movies suck so hard?
>pic related, didn't even make it through first 10 minutes.
Sounds like a personal problem.
Then how can you have a worthwhile opinion on it? I know this is bait but I've always wondered why people seriously do this. People s-seriously do this right? Right?
>I have shit taste
>I wasn't loved as a child
>I'm literally so autistic I can barely type up this bait
I can't decide which is most likely.
Being honest here, I don't see what's so great about them, are they 2deep4u shit that every eats up?
Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean it's bait.
This is master bait.
Does sage not work anymore?
>trying this hard
spirited away was boring
pic related was much better
Your taste has deteriorated beyond repair anon. There's no help for you now.
Bait or not, I honestly do think the miyazaki movies are overrated as shit and shouldn't be the epitome of anime.
Do you honestly believe that "overrated" is a legitimate criticism of anything? It has nothing to do with the work and everything to do with your perception of other people's perception of the work. Its like opinion-telephone.
Miyazaki movies are like Disney movies to me except less dialogue
Yea it's pretty to look at yea it has a cute message but it's fucking slow as hell
The fact is that you came on the internet mearly to complain about something that's popular. That alone will not breed a sensible conversation. It would be like me starting a conversation about hating the way the Lord of the Rings movies were treated compared to the books. Why should I even bring it up when the vast majority of people still enjoy the movies? Its just a losing battle and shouldn't even be attempted.
So basically, all you look like is someone railing against something that is popular.
If by deep you mean 'Wistful' then yes.
>Miyazaki movies are like Disney movies to me except less dialogue
That's like saying Cowboy Bebop is just a Quintin Terrintino movie, just with more music. Why do people on 4chan have to generalize everything? And why do their generalizations have to be so fucking stupid?
OP is probably going to get some hate but I agree that Spirited Away wasn't great at all. Or good. It was mediocre at best. It also sucks that normals hold it up as some sort of accomplishment when Naussica and Castle in the Sky are way better.
Yes, Spirited Away really did suck. I will never understand for the life of me why it did so well.
Mononoke Hime > Spirited Away
If you want decent commentary on things you should go to r/askhistorians or r/literature
>why do people on 4chan have to generalize everything?
Miyazaki movies shouldn't be compared to most anime in the first place because they're movies. Do you know how many anime movies are released each year, that aren't based on TV anime? Not many. Actually, outside of Miyazaki, the genre is almost nonexistent.
Miyazaki doesn't make anime. He makes animation.
A majority of the films are rated pg and are intended for (not limited to) kids
Just like Disney films yes we all enjoy a classic Disney movie and they're good but let's be real we aren't going to compare fucking lion king and pulp fiction now are we?
Not saying Miyazaki films are bad they're great for kids I just wouldn't put them as the greatest anime movies because anyone can make a good kid movie
>A majority of the films are rated pg and are intended for (not limited to) kids
Oh god, this argument again...are you that guy from the other thread bitching about Ponyo?
There is a difference between 'for kids' and 'for general audiences'. Just like with Disney and Pixar movies.
But a target demographic doesn't make Miyazaki movie like a Disney movie. By your logic, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is the same as a Disney movie.
>but let's be real we aren't going to compare fucking lion king and pulp fiction now are we?
And we shouldn't be comparing Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaa, Laputa, Porco Rosso, Kiki, Whisper of the Heart, Mononoke, Spirited Away or nearly any other Miyazaki movie to a Disney movie either. Yet you're trying to do that very thing.
His movies are held in such high regard because it doesn't take a huge weeb to take a liking to them. They have broad appeal so there are more people out there who will give it the time of day and given an opinion on them.
The much more abrasive or lewd anime most of /a/ has no problem watching has a much narrower intended audience and so opinions based regarding success of many anime series and anime or manga derived movies is far less likely to match up.
>pic related, didn't even make it through first 10 minutes.
>posts a pic from well over an hour in
>"Not trolling, honest"
Because you're not imagining the loli in lewd situations
Spirited Away has 10/10 fap material
>Being boring, heartless, and pointless as a human being
>didn't even make it through first 10 minutes.
Hold on a second you stupid fucker, have you ever even seen a movie that accomplishes anything in the first ten minutes?
I've seen a lot of retarded shit on /a/, but this either takes autism to a whole new level, or is one of the most juvenile trolls I've ever read.
Miyazaki is all about beautiful simplicity. The themes in his movies are right there in front of you, they are in no way encrypted. All the dialogue and visual symbolism of his movies point plainly and artfully to his intended meanings in a way that all can understand and enjoy.
>Miyazaki is all about beautiful simplicity. The themes in his movies are right there in front of you, they are in no way encrypted.
Funny how so many people can't tell what they are.
Like how Mononoke is not a simple action movie or an 'environmental film', but a story about Ashitaka uniting three different feuding factions.
Or how Ponyo is a story aimed at parents who have had kids.
Roger Ebert knew his job more than a skinny nobody on the net.
>a guy who gives every animated movie an automatic thumbs up
>the guy who coined the phrase
'Miyazaki is Japan's Disney'
You're not helping.
Maybe if you actually watch the movie you'll see what we like about it
Kiki is the best Ghibli
I thought Spirited Away was okay, definitely not the best Miyazaki film, but not bad.
Porco Rosso is probably my favorite. The setting and characters appeal to me so much.
