What in the name of Chika-chan is going on?
Question of the day to kick things off:
>Will there ever be another episode as good as Yuno's fever dream?
Ya there is Yuno's Fever on DXM
The Hoshimittsu episode where Yuno loses her key and spends the rest of the episode sleeping around is one of my favorites.
Yuno gets around the Hidamari Apartments
I was disappointed in the manga when that happened, they do all the overnights offscreen, you only see her night with miya.
>Will there ever be another episode as good as Yuno's fever dream?
First episode of 365.
So has the manga ended yet?
Not Shaft-y enough.
That's how it is.
Yeah I guess. But Ume has only so many pages for each month so it would've been quite hard to fit it in one chapter. I guess she could've spent several months on it but that's a little excessive.
You could literally see the budget falling out of the screen.
I don't think it'll end until Yuno and Miya graduate.
But that means we're around the two thirds mark (assuming we stay at the current rate, no guarantee the last year won't be sped up) so I guess it's the end days, maybe.
All I know is I'm not ready for it to be over.
But I'm not watching Hidamari for the Shaftiness anyway.
I thought I'd make a totally unique post that nobody's ever made before and remind everyone that Miyako is the sunshine in Sunshine Sketch.
>I'm not watching Hidamari for the Shaftiness
Then I'll make a totally unique reply and remind everyone that Yuno is the sunshine in my sketch.
Well overall it's not really all that Shaft-y.
It was until Hoshimittsu. So many neat things were done only in the first two seasons.
>abstract footstep flashes
>references to other series
>inclusion of photographic elements
>arbitrarily changing scenery/backgrounds/objects
>non-chronological episode order
>generally looking like it was animated on pocket change
That's just off the top of my head, there were probably more.
I'm pretty sure a lot of these occur in later seasons too. Particularly that last one.
When you list them like that it... feels like that's the bare minimum for Shaft series.
I'm not saying it wasn't a Shaft series at all, just that their other series felt a lot crazier.
I miss the old whackiness.
Though it's nice that they've sorted out the artstyle for when things aren't weird, wide always looks wide now and normal always looks normal.
Still, s1 and s2 were so visually interesting, I don't think I would have been hooked if they hadn't been so shafty.
Such is life, I guess the main demographic didn't appreciate it as much as some of us do, so shaft changed it to satisfy the demand.
We'll always have s1 and s2 to go back to so I won't make a huge fuss about it, but it'd be nice to go back, if only for a few specials or something.
alternatively you can read it as yuno's artistic skill improving and becoming more sophisticated and directed, rather than her early days at school where she lacked guidance but had more wild and crazy artistic style.
In a way she's become a better artist, but she's lost some of that unique flavor and visual style, ultimately it's for us to decide whether it was worth the trade off...
Despite all that, Miya is the sunshine in my sunshine sketch.
I'd have agreed with you three years or so ago, but their recent works have been pretty tame in comparison. Honeycomb could have been made by JC Staff, for how visually interesting and creative it was.
I think all the Hidamaris are all equally the sunshine in Sunshine Sketch. It's just that Miyako is more equally the sunshine in Sunshine Sketch.
That's my bag, man. C'mon.
Naw, it's cool.
I think it's a mixture of more money and budget making them complacent and lazy, madoka stealing their top people's attention and possibly even they're not really in love with making hidamari anymore.
>madoka stealing their top people's attention
Rebellion certainly overflowed with bizarreness. I guess Shaft isn't kill just yet.
>I guess the main demographic didn't appreciate it as much as some of us do
Well I don't know about that, I think I just kinda have to agree with >>100519591 and say they just haven't put in enough effort.
But it felt like they put their heart into making the Graduation OVA at least.
Monogatari Season 2 still felt a lot like good old Shaftmonogatari too. Not to mention Sasami-san. I don't think Shaftyness is in decline, it's just that they consciously decided to make Hidamari more visually tame.
Also, I think you people are overreacting a bit. They still kept the same general directing guidelines all through seasons 3 and 4 of Hidamari. I literally opened a random episode of Honeycomb just now and started clicking at random spots in the time bar. At the third try this came up already, contrary to what somebody said in the thread they still do the feet thing.
Yeah but they've culled out the weird shit happening mid episode and stuff, there used to be lots of weird stuff happening at all times, shaft closeups, strange patterns, photographs and weird shit happening in the background. Now it's just a few staples.
>Hidamari symbols (chiis, pawprint, glasses etc)
>Sae's wall poster
It's still there, but we've stopped getting new shaftiness, they've just kept 2 or 3 that they reuse a lot and ditched most of the really out there stuff.
I'm not saying it's bad, I still love hidamari to pieces, I just feel like x365 really had something amazing to it. It's hard to put my finger on it, but not all if it is still there in s3/4.
It's still as comfy, cute and heartwarming as ever, so I don't really care. Not him.
Well this was a new thing for Honeycomb at least.
What? No not the joke, they reused that, I mean the borders. And they sometimes used normal eyes for widefaces too, I don't think they did that previously either.
I didn't really understand the borders, are they meant to be photographs or something?
They seemed to be really random. Like sometimes it felt like it was happening at a punchline, but I couldn't see any punchline in sight. I assumed it was just nipon-puns that went straight over my head though.
I'll have to agree with >>100520855. I think if anything they only polished the style more and more as the seasons went on. It's to expect that the first seasons will be more experimental anyway.
It's just like a band whose albums become more and more polished and people always argue over whether their best work is their most recent, mature work, or their earlier, more bold and daring work.
Hidamari is a 4koma, so I assume the borders fell inline with the end of certain strips.
I just miss it is all. Like I said, it's still really good.
Oh and the whole Hokkaido trip with real locations was something they hadn't done before, although I guess you could thank Ume for that one.
And stuff like Yuno's dreams are still there.
I bet there's a dead body wrapped in there.
Nazuna finally got what she deserved, huh.
Well, it's no surprise that people spontaneously die of heart and nutbladder failure when Yuna and Miya pass by. Cleaning up the bodies is just the decent thing to do.
I guess that explains why they can act like it's nothing out of ordinary.
Yuno is so tiny. God damn, I want to put her in my shirt pocket and carry her around all day.
If you're still here, what I meant by >abstract footstep flashes were the ones the didn't look like actual footprints, or have text. I don't have any episodes on hand to take screenshots right now, but originally, the 'footsteps' were actually っちs or paw prints or whatnot. That change in particular really disappointed me.
TRIBUTE FOR HIRO
Just finished the graduation special.
>dat guitar version of hoshi3 ED
>dat why why why, fuck, why does it have to end.
AFAIK there's no confirmation it's over.
but hidamari without sae and hiro isn't the same.
Here's a few pages of Anthology comic vol 5 again, or namely chapter 6.
Oh and I finally got around fixing that one typo on vol 2 a little while ago too. Let me know if you notice any more.
I don't think there is a confirmation, but it's pretty obvious that this is the end. From what I've heard, they struggled enough to get the graduation specials out and it will be a long while before there's enough content again.
>in the name of Chika-chan
The graduation sold pretty well so making more wouldn't be out of question, and unless I'm terribly wrong there wasn't really a huge pile of chapters left after Hoshimittsu either.
Season 5 will happen.
But if it ends how will we get more Yuno feet?
How well is the English publication of the manga translated? I didn't even know it was published in English until I saw it on my local bookstores website.
It's not perfect, but overall it's at least better than the older scanlations.
I can't respect anyone that translates the series' title.
I've ordered 7 volumes, they were meant to be here like 3 days ago. I'm expecting them by tomorrow.
If the threads still up when I get them I'll give you my first impressions
It's my favorite episode so I don't think so.
Not sure if already posted but Yurihouse scanned the Hidamari production note.
Wide is serious business.
Well they posted a link to it themselves in the previous thread, but it's better to repost it anyway.
I'm seeing double here, three Yunos!
We did get that group shot in the dream sequence in the Graduation finale that was animated on the ones.
Thanks anon, didn't see this before
>using Yuno's hairclip as wrong
I wonder if anyone will ever translate it.
I have it on my shelf and can't read the damned thing. It's the wordiest Japanese book I've imported, but I couldn't pass it up.
I guess they might translate more, at least if you ask them nicely enough.
Man, there's a whole science to WIDE.
I really love the combination of simplified backgrounds and the use of real objects.
Lots of good images for Dakimakura.
I thought that paper said "Life is Shaft" and couldn't figure out what the rest of it had to do with that.
I nearly died of when Nori got a Longcat daki for christmas.
Was it a coincidence or is it really THE longcat?
Wasn't it Natsume who got the longcat?
I want to make one. I doubt it'd be too challenging, I'd just need to find somewhere to get a lot of pink fabric and somewhere else to hide a giant pink cat pillow to avoid the inevitable questions.
The HTML girl.
Also was it really the interent meme longcat?
I really doubt it was THE longcat, or at least in Hidamari it was "neko long" which is a little bit different. It's just that at least Nutbladder translated it as longcat since it's kinda fitting.
Also it was the suffering girl.
It was Natsume
But I like white noise eyes Yuno more!
I guess right Yuno would work as super confused wideface Yuno.
If the cchis are wrong, then I don't wanna be right.
Or [internal horror]
Reveille! Reveille! Reveille! Drop your cocks and grab your socks! Today is Sunday! Wide worship is at 0800
Those boots are way too big for her.
What a coincidence, bought that production notes book a week ago. Nice cover and content, sasuga Shaft. If only I could read runes...
So how do you like 575, hidabros? The girls have widefaces, and there is a bath scene in the end of each episode.
More like littlesisterfaces, am I right? I am.
I love it, it doesn't fill the void Aiura left in me but it's close.
The actual longcat is white, not green, so no. But the reference is obviously deliberate given the demographic of the show.
But the cat is pink.
And is longcat even a big enough meme in Japan to be referenced?
> (age 39)
>she will never be your well-past-christmas cake onee-chan
>this fucking scene
Well I don't know about onee-chan but if she wants kids then she should start getting to it. 40 is pretty late, she'll be 60 by the time the kid is 20.
Those Shaft-y books always remind me of Bakemonogatari.
B-but if she does that she won't be pure anymore.
The menopause starts kicking in by the 50s as well.
Good one buddy
It's definitely not a reference in Japanese. THE "Longcat" still has a bit of popularity in Japan, but is named "のび～るたん" there which is nowhere close to "ネコロング".
OTOH, I definitely had to keep the name descriptive because of Nori's line commenting on it, and since Longcat was such a perfect name in English...
(It also didn't hurt that it was Nori who the one who recognized it.)
When will the Kindle versions of Hidamari Sketch manga be out on amazon? I want to carry my wide in a narrow device
flex your hidamaris?
Aren't they already? I have a kobo so can't try it, but they're listed.
Well if they aren't pure then why do nerds always freak out when they get married or something?
You aren't saying they're having premarital sex or anything, right?
That's what I gathered too, but it's hard to really check with my ability. "ロングキャット" or whatever had some articles too, but those seemed to be just about the /b/ edits and such, and no site that mentioned "ネコロング" I checked had any hint that it was a reference to anything.
I really like the longcat translation though.
Apparently not. It tells me 'This title is not currently available for purchase'.
(I mean the english version, I can't into moon)
Why not just download it and use calibre to convert it?
If you want to give someone your money then get a physical copy.
Do you even know for sure the she doesn't have children, or whether or not she's married for that matter? If so, source it fggt
Well, I'll have to do that. I'm just concerned about the image quality.
For one thing otaku can pretty retarded and delusional sometimes. I know very surprising. Also nobody really cares about voice actors getting married, Asumi just announced her marriage and noone gave shit. It's generally idols who get these kind of weird people, and some idols happen to voice act in anime too.
It's japanese entertainment industry, if you're a woman then you gonna swallow some cum on the way.
Those are some good points actually, especially the Nori part.
>Asumi just announced her marriage and noone gave shit
I'm glad you missed all that shit on 2ch and 2chan.
Looks like this for me. Maybe its different in your country? Or does it not say that until you try to buy?
>2ch whining for everything
Oh boy color me surprised. It's not like some people like to bitch about everything on the internet, oh wait.
Futaba had a 4000 replies thread, imagine 2ch's reaction now.
That's odd. Where are you checking it from? I'm looking at
I clicked that link and it says its available. Regional thing I guess?
And? Will people destroy all her merchandise and not buy anything anymore? People just bitch about news, since it's something to talk about but noone really cares.
Do you have shuwa-shuwa Nazuna?
Apparently amazon hates Spain. Gotta see now if I can trick it into letting me buy it. Anyway, thanks for the help!
Could we stop this? I guess I should've thought a little more before hitting the submit button but I really didn't want to start all this again.
I only have Yuno, Miya and the whole cast. Actually I don't think I have ever seen one for Nazuna.
doesnt look that bad to me
I couldn't resist.
That's hardly "no one cares", maybe you should revise your statements.
I don't think even Shaft would go that far.
What? A few faggots bitching on 2ch, a couple people congratulating her on twitter and the rest 98% not giving a fuck. That's pretty much noone cares. Remember the "shitstorm" about Ichiki? That blew up 2ch, and noone gave a shit 2 days later and just bought the show anyways? That's 2ch, they'll bitch about something that's happening but it's not like they actually care or will do anything.
Get her some Penrose triangles.
>a few faggots bitching in 2ch
>every thread reached the 1000 posts limit in less than an hour
Like I've said, noone cares. Neko black got more attention.
I'm okay with this, I thought she was eating the flower when I posted the original anyway.
Sae is pretty
It won't end until Yuno and Miya-chan graduate and then. Ume might do a Kakifly and give a glimpse at there college lives and then end the series.
You mean stuff like this?
>if a baby is born 9 months later we'll continue cheering you on!
>don't worry about the weird idiots
Yeah, they're in a riot. Also I bet 2ch doesn't have trolls unlike us, to shitpost at every given occasion.
Sae is prettier when she is wearing her glasses.
Looks like Chika without glasses.
I miss the visual gags they had in the first season.
Sae comes in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes without glasses
>I guess Shaft isn't kill just yet.
Yeah but they will never be as weird as they were in Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase.
Did you read the whole thread?
A couple people whining, others congratulating others saying that she's pretty old it's about time she found someone. Pretty much what someone would expect. This is hardly any kind of Hirano riot. I don't know why do you want to make such a big deal out of this, Like I've said as well, the Ichiki incident was also like 100 times bigger even on 4chan and a week later people already forgot about it.
Maybe because it actually was a big deal? That was just one of the threads, that's far away from "Asumi just announced her marriage and noone gave shit", even people here were surprised that 2ch was taking her as some kind of virgin idol. I don't know why do you want to understimate it, this is absolutely nothing new nor strange for japanese otakus/aniwotas.
Sae is this how you got the money to pay the bills.
Sae is the only Hidamari who actually earns money and not just leeches from their parents.
Seriously, 45000 Yen per month + food and bills + private school. All of their parents must be loaded
I don't think Hiro is going to be happy about this.
No it wasn't man or you have no idea about 2ch. Also 2ch isn't the absolute voice of Japan, it's just a bunch of shitposting otaku faggots. Compare those couple shitposters to the Hirano or Ichiki riot and tell me that this is a big deal bub. You can barely even find source on other websites, other than a couple "hey congratulations". You are actually a retard and a faggot if you take 2ch shitposting as some sort of ultimate indication of Japan's opinion.
She still hasn't paid back her parents.
Miya's parents I think only pay the rent and the utilities since she never has any money for food.
Sides we don't know weather the parents get any subsites for sending the kids to a special private school.
Can't stop the Natsume train
She's just embracing her spirit animal
She's got a BIG debt to pay.
Miya-chan's perfect mate.
Even public schools in Japan are very expensive compared to a lot of countries. Their parents aren't probably loaded, more comfortable.
What would Yuno be?
She's a pussy remember.
Not the guy you're talking to but 2channel's influence is comparable to any other media in Japan, it's not as small as you think it is.
Yeah when it comes to advertising, otherwise they don't amount to shit. I wish I had that Kokoro Connect amazon chart, how during the Ichiki incident like half of the preorders got cancelled and after the shitstorm died down everyone just preordered it again. That's the extent of 2ch's influence, nothing. And that stuff was allover the internet as well not just some threads on 2ch. They'll whine for a bit but will buy shit like they always do anyways.
I think I've heard >>100548720 before, but then again I guess it could've been in one of those anthology comic things too.
I repeat again: that's still hardly a "no one cares", you're understimating 2ch's reaction because there were worse times, Kana Asumi has constant threads on 2ch (like I already said, even people on /a/ was surprised about this), they won't whine just "for a bit". Madoka's last movie shitstorm was nothing compared to 3.0 in 2012, yet you wouldn't say it was just a couple of faggots shitposting, right?
I understand if you like Kana Asumi and you're happy for her, I too am, but you're just in denial for whatever reason.
And I repeat again. Noone gives a fuck, and 2ch's shitposting amounts to literally nothing when it comes to overall responses. I don't really give a shit about her wedding either, it just seems like you want to make a big deal out of something that isn't. I don't know maybe you're just a new import from /b/ who adores "le epic shitstorms" or something and want every little shit to be one.
How wide are you today?
You just made everything you said before worthless. Good going carrying a discussion.
>I don't know maybe you're just a new import from /b/ who adores "le epic shitstorms" or something and want every little shit to be one.
I applaud this retort.
I'm only feeling semi-wide.
Not really, I've said that 2ch does the same amount of bitching for everything, and it still doesn't matter unless you see the same thing on a ton of news sites, blogs and twitter. Which you don't in this case.
Not very wide. Maybe winter depression.
There will never be more hidamaris
It's not really a retort or anything I just can't imagine why else would he want to blow up something so insignificant. It's generally those /b/ people who want everything that happens on the internet to be a "raid" or riot and whatever else.
I doubt that anon.
Sides could you imagine what Hidamari would be like if it was animated by BONES?
I'm always fat wide.
Is Ume even writing Hidamari still?
Yeah? It's not even on hiatus even though I guess she could still take a break again next month.
Well idk how long can they keep this series going. I guess they could do another season or two until Yuno and Miyako graduate.
It depends on weather she'll want to continue the series after they graduate. She could something like what Kakifly did with K-On.
Theoretically we could have every day for three years covered. I doubt that would eve happen, but it's not like there is any sort of hard limit.
If the pattern holds, 2more seasons for the full year, but I'd guess it's much more likely they'll only do 1 season, or even more likely, they'll do a special to finish it.
Depends how much ume writes and how much shaft loves us. 2 seasons more would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
>Captcha Sacrifices Upcoming
I hope she will just stop when they graduate, even with just that we'll still get to around vol 11 before it ends. If she keeps up the current pace that is.
Ume never wrote anachronistically and shaft stopped in s3.
(sadly, I really loved the out of order stuff, the moth was a great gag)
That's what I figured but the bds are still selling so Shinbo's jew genes will probably want to keep making it.
I wish they'd publish to australia, I can't find it anywhere except minotaur and they charge like 70 dollars a season.
It sells about 10k a season with very very little effort on Shaft's part due to all the material they can re-use and the backgrounds/animation not being that complex. It's guaranteed easy money and shinbo would not turn it down.
They'd never make what would amount to over 90 cour worth anyway. And nothing is stopping them from going back to anachronistic order. Just saying there is a lot of life left to slice.
>And nothing is stopping them from going back to anachronistic order.
Yeah, that's exactly why they didn't adapt those summer chapters yet! Now they're free to play around with the order.
I believe you meant Iwakami's jew genes. Know the difference.
What? Look on amiami, cdjapan or amazon and we're talking about Japan. Hidamari blu rays still go about 10k so Shinbo will keep being jew on it.
Time will tell.
I'd support anachronistic making a comeback.
We'd get to see hiro and sae again.
Shinbo has absolutely nothing to do with this, like >>100554420 said, this is Aniplex's money.
I don't know, Shinbo is making announcements and stuff
Shinbo can't produce Monogatari if Aniplex doesn't accept it, he doesn't have the last word. Same goes with Hidamari.
Shinbo kinda has the last word on what shaft makes, it's always been like that and that's why it was a shitty poor shack studio until they hit the cashcow with bake and madoka. Whatever aniplex wants to fund and whatever kodansha says if Shinbo doesn't want to do the production then he won't and if he wants to animate something then he will.
>We'd get to see hiro and sae again.
Only if Gotou is healthy enough to work.
I think that was actually the reason they did away with it.
If Hiro and Sae graduate then they won't have to worry about Gotou and can just have 2 new girls.
Me too, but who knows.
I don't want new girls.
But I guess I hated nazuna and wasn't keen on nori for an entire season, now nori's in my top 3 and nazuna is somewhat bearable (still the worst though)
>I have no idea how the anime industry works but I will act like an expert.
Yeah because every single studio and every single producer acts exactly the same way. Bugger off kid, everyone knows about Shinbo's role in shaft who's been aware of things prior to 2009.
I guess the show didn't do a very subtle job of introducing new characters. They're just being thrown into the fray so people end up feeling unfamiliar towards them. But I mean that's just like life, people suddenly show up and suddenly go away, that's just how it goes.
Normally, there are a couple of meetings before starting the production of an anime, disregarding the fact there are contract and legal bullshit in the middle, that's where the producer(s) and members of the studio decide what to do, how and when. Shinbo can't decide, out of the blue, to make a new season of some show, he -always- has to have the producer's approval.
It's not about Shinbo wanting to do it or not, he's being paid to do a job.
Hidamari is my escapism. I don't want it to be like life.
Like I said, I got over it and now I like both of them. I just needed to adjust.
If the characters are good, 2 new ones won't hurt us.
OH GOD WHAT IF IT'S ONLY ONE NEW GIRL
Wait that could be awesome, the hidamaris have to go out and find her a partner.
You know, publishers never really have a problem with having someone animate their stuff, unless the mangaka explicitly states that he doesn't want an anime, see Mizukami and Kiyohiko. It's rather what budget do they want to allocate for the job. And Shinbo always wanted to animate shows that the publishers weren't particularly sure of, see bakemonogatari, szs, arakawa and hidamari so shaft didn't get much budget for it. That's why they were powerpoint slideshows and using tricks like putting in photos of a teddy bear and hands instead of drawing, it's not being artistic, it's just cheaper, or hire the inukare guys who only get jobs from shaft anyways. Then if the show becomes succesful they generally get more funding like they did with monogatari and hidamari.
Shinbo was always the one making decisions in shaft. Most studios act how you presume, get asked to animate a popular series from a publisher and get budget for it, or fund their own shows, like kyoani, but shaft has been a wackjob for a good while, doing whatever whim Shinbo had.
Don't wate your time with him.
Well it's 2014 already I don't know why I expected people to know things from 6 years ago.
You really have no idea what you're talking about.
Just because the animation is cheap doesn't mean those choices weren't artistic and weren't cool.
It's better than the alternative, look at .hack//sign or some other shows animated on low budget, instead of doing interesting things to cut corners, they just make the characters stand still and talk to each other the WHOLE FUCKING TIME without any change in expression.
Good argument buddy.
What if Chika moves in?
Chika is already enrolled as a first year at a different school AFAIK.
Yoshinoya is old enough to be a first year though.
Yeah sure they're cool, but the main reason they're done is because they had no money. The black/red scenes in bake and photos in animation that get replaced in bds are just because they were poor. Look at nisekoi it's fairly artistic but still doesn't use cheap tricks like hidamari s1, bake and szs had.
i really need to get into this, maybe i will do that this week
She could transfer. Plus it would give a convenient way for Sae to come back and visit, with Hiro coming as well.
Take 1 episode a night before bed.
Guaranteed to sleep comfy.
>Shinbo was always the one making decisions in shaft
Because he is SHAFT's director, he directs SHAFT's productions, yet he's not who makes the decision of producing said shows if it's not an original studio production (which it's extremely rare because of the high costs).
From Asagichou most recent translated interview:
>Yuma: I clearly remember Hidamari’s beginning stages even now. It was around 2006, wasn’t it? It started airing in January 2007, so that’s probably it. Producer Atsuhiro Iwakami, who had heard from TBS about a Hidamari adaptation, pitched it at a planning meeting. He said, “It’ll be a challenge, but I want Aniplex to make anime of this genre too.” Of course, now there are many works depicting girls’ everyday lives, but at that time there were barely any. Even Aniplex hadn’t worked with anything of the genre before. Iwakami wanted Lantis (with their hit “Hare Hare Yukai” from Haruhi) and Director Shinbo (responsible for “Le Portrait de Petit Cossette”) to team up for the very first time.
It's not up to Shinbo to make a new season of Hidamari, it's up to Aniplex and their money, Shinbo on his own can't make shit without Iwakami's approval.
Of course he has to get permission but the funders have no reason not to fund it, especially at the budget that shaft is working with. If anything Shinbo has the least word in anime originals it's more about what aniplex wants to sunk money into.
Just like how Kodansha and Square Enix has no particular reason to turn down shows that Shinbo wants to do and will for two pennies if it's advertisement for their manga and other studios wouldn't do anyways.
Hidamari sequels are most likely less dependent on Shinbo but there's no reason why wouldn't they want to do it and the argument is about shaft in general.
houbunsha is prolly under aniplex's governing to some too degree since theyre doing the madoka manga series so hidamari is more like an anime original than an adaptation if that makes any sense
Not enough wide being posted.
Those are some nice meaty thighs you've got there
Did someone say
>Of course he has to get permission but the funders have no reason not to fund it
Huh, yes, they could have several reasons to disapprove him, be it marketing decisions or simply production decisions. For example, if Shinbo wants to make a new Madoka movie right now, do you think Iwakami would green light him?
>Just like how Kodansha and Square Enix has no particular reason to turn down shows that Shinbo wants to do and will for two pennies if it's advertisement for their manga and other studios wouldn't do anyways.
Shinbo can't tempt Kodansha to make an adaption if he has no funds other than the studio's money and, like I said before, this is extremely rare because the production costs are too high, SHAFT is not Sunrise or Toei.
Aniplex is who paid Shinbo to produce Hidamari, Monogatari, Madoka, Sasami-san, ect, Aniplex's money decides when to produce the series.
>What if Chika moves in?
No Chika is going to a different high school sides Sae's parents aren't that rich to send two kids to private school.
Are puchis wide enough?
Nah, I'm pretty sure we'd get someone new. Maybe just one new tenant instead of two, because if Ume plans on wrapping up the story with Yuno/Miyako graduating, one school year left may not be enough time to fully develop two more chars; as it is she's still got work to do on Nori/Nazuna (although they're definitely at a better position now than they were at the start of Hoshimittsu).
Two tenants would be cool anyway though; we'll see what happens. No new tenants would be sad/lonely because we'd be reminded of it every fucking time we saw the doors/windows of sae/hiro's now-empty apartments.
I don't think my heart is ready for sae and hirop's rooms to be empty...
Where will they eat altogether? Yuno's place?
If there are new tenants, I don't think they'd be first-years.
The vast majority of humanity is completely oblivious to the existence of Hidamari Sketch. Billions will live and die without ever knowing the feel of wide.
I think I got a guy on a forum I go to into it, he PMed me about my avatar and seemed really interested in the source.
Did ZUN guy make a ZUN edit out of this one?
I need it for things
Billions would die from nutbladder explosion if they knew.
Only we select few can sustain the pressure.
>Those unaccustomed to wide die.
>Hidamaris become the new standard of an ideal woman.
I'm OK with this.
>Mankind dies out because they're not real
So, this was Ume's master plan all along.
>This is the way the world ends
>Not with a bang but a wideface
>they're not real
I'm sorry anon but it's the truth.
>You will never feed miyako food
>You will never feel guilty because it's the same feeling as putting paper in the shredder
They're real. I'll ascend to Hidamarisou if I do well enough in this life!
To die without seeing sunshine even once. How cruel.
Image quality is better with Mangle than with Calibre, but I can't remember if you need to fiddle with a simple jailbreak first to be able to just drop in and read the CBZs.
It's rule number one bub.
But we're all little girls there.
You will never feed Miya food
You will never wash Yuno's hair
You will never poke Hiro's belly
You will never tell Sae you read one of her stories
You will never impress Nori with your PC specs
You will never tell Nazuna she's useless
At least nazuna already knows.
She might forget, we need to remind her.
Well, she's good at being a Hidamari and living alongside Yuno and Miyako and the others which we will never do
>Nazuna can do something we can't.
Now I feel terrible about myself.
I blame Nazuna.
Please step on my boypussy Yuno.
step back yunochayyyy
Don't feel bad, even if it's not Nazuna's fault, it's Nazuna's fault.
If Asumi Kana's straight married now, what does that mean for Yuno's love life?
I guess it moves on from eros to platonic or agape. Probably for the best, they are the more refined forms of love, none of that messy lust involved.
I was pretty sure I saw one but I guess not, or at least I haven't saved it.
Maybe I'm just thinking this one.
Don't blame me, I voted for Nori.
Dam, well she'd do a better job the Obama.
Just finished season 4 yesterday. What the fuck do I do with my life now?
Watch the last OVA.
Do this >>100572657
Then cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life.
Alternatively, start the manga.
Watch the Graduation OVA and ask us again in about an hour.
Or start reading/watching something similar. I've heard good things about GA Art Design Class and Sketchbook, though I haven't read/watched them myself.
but where would i go about getting new chapters without them being in spanish?
Lots of it here.
Both are good, though different. Sketchbook is kind of like Hidamari crossed with Aria, and GA is kind of like Hidamari crossed with Azumanga and actually about art.
Sweet baby jesus why have I never seen this before.
Ume and Satoko need together and make a crossover. It would be golden.
I'm not sure, it has been mentioned several times in this thread alone.
>crossed with Aria
>crossed with Azumanga
So many things I already like. I will move them up the backlog, maybe I will actually start them after I finish Saturn Apartments.
What is it with these obviously inferior series coming into widethreads and claiming to be wide? Shit's heresy, yo.
They're not claiming to be wide, just claiming to be calm and soothing and maybe a bit funny. There's not enough wide to survive on yet, we have to branch out.
Wait a little while and rewatch it, doesn't really matter what. Or try rewatching random episodes out of whatever you started first, presumably S1. You'd be surprised how much you forget with time; for example after about 2 years I re-watched x365 and it felt like 90% new to me.
Also make sure you got all the special/extra episodes; there are in fact enough of those to be a standalone season by themselves in number (11 extra eps; there are 60 total episodes now). It seems a lot of people get confused by this a bit; it actually took me a while before I realized I was missing some.
>[hidamari sketch] special (2 eps)
>x365 SP (2 eps)
>x365 EX (1 ep)
>Hoshimittsu SP (2 eps)
>xSP (2 eps)
>xgraduation (2 eps)
Lastly read the manga. And pray to Ume.
Looks like we have a fake widebro who can't take it easy.
I totally forgot that Nori and Nazuna appeared in the x365 specials
Ah, I thought you were referring to the more recent recommendations, I actually forgot about most of the thread.
There's also the special event mini-episode, and if you really want to stretch it, the home shopping commercial. What's with Nutbladder subbing commercials, and why don't more groups do it?
gg included commercials, but they weren't subbed and were just whatever was running when the show aired. I think Nutbladder just did it to remind people about Hidamari and they had nothing else on their plate.
A few groups sub PVs, and whoever did Daily Lives of Highschool Boys did the web short PVs leading up to the show itself.
I think we have stressed "wide" in the OPs and such too much, it seems to get people confused. I mean, sure a lot of series have cute and blobby character designs, but that doesn't really make them wide, and I'd go as far and say that not even Madoka is "wide" since it's serious and doesn't use the widefaces.
I want one of those Yunos and maybe a Hiro, but the only one that's been on Mandarake for months has been winter uniform Nazuna.
Got a link to them?
Why can't I enjoy both anon? I can still be wide.
You're free to enjoy any series you want. Just don't go falsely identifying them as wide. Only Hidamari and any other Ume-sensei character designs may be correctly labeled as "wide".
Well there's the "Mousugu" recaps too, but I'm not even sure where I watched one. I'm pretty sure I downloaded the first one from somewhere.
I can't find a decent source for them so I might just mediafire them. Links in however long it takes with my awful upload rate.
Just wait for the SoL spinoff series.
I do it because it's fun, and it gives people a better idea of who their favorite shows are "made for", and it makes for a nice sort of Saturday morning type feeling.
Also a little bit of guilt at taking things I really like and helping the internet pirate them. At least maybe some of you will buy the CDs or the figures or whatever.
Well at least I wouldn't have spent a dime on HS if I couldn't have watched it for free somewhere first.
Fair enough, I don't know that I'd really have any idea of how it is on TV without you. But I mostly just find it amusing to be seeing the kinds of things you choose to sub in a release where you'd expect them to be omitted.
I have the localized manga and poorly done DVDs, the Honeycomb production note, the figmas and nendos, that big vinyl Yuno, the niitengo box, and the cellphone charm/keychain set. Also an Ume shirt which I have never worn.
Wouldn't have bought any of that if I hadn't watched and read it thanks to the internet and enjoyed it enough to continue it.
I suddenly want to buy the BD box sets for some reason.
I know anon I know.
I did, but it was around Christmas so...
Post your favorite Hidamari outfits.
Fairly sure it's kodansha who funded monogatari but whatevs mate
Yuno sure has a nice, wide butt.
Butt you say?
For someone with self esteem issues, Yuno sure has excellent taste in clothing.
If I was a girl, I'd try and wear clothes like the hidamaris, they always look lovely.
They look pretty average to me
Well I work in fast food on night shift so I guess the only women I really ever see are sluts out clubbing.
Yeah, most girls I see at college, during day and my sister's friends all wear these loose blouses, jeans with shirts and stuff. This is pretty much the average clothing for girls nowadays as far as I'm aware.
They arrived. I'm gonna skim vol 1...
Looks pretty good, they put translations for signs etc. under each panel, name suffixes are all there (as is yunocchi). they put the meaning of sound effect hiragana in small text next to each sound effect, which is good I guess, but I can see why some people would dislike it, it's small enough that it's not in your face though.
Doesn't look like they've made any crazy big changes or anything. Some TNs at the back of the book covering stuff that isn't obvious, which is nice since it means there's no walls of text under certain panels (like moving in soba etc)
Oh and they translated the afterword of ume at the end of each volume which is AWESOME because I haven't found many of those translated.
So pretty good first impressions, that said I can't read nip so I can't really say if it's an amazing translation, but it all seems to be in order, nothing seems wrong.
[ TEXT ONLY ]
>you will never wake up to this
But I can damned well go to sleep to it.
These look pretty fun.
Anthology comic chapter something. What was Nazuna doing in Nori's room anyway?
>What was Nazuna doing in Nori's room anyway?
Well, Anon, you see...
Oh yeah, I guess reading this should help to understand the jokes a little.
I really didn't know what to do with that one either, it should sound a little more natural in Japanese but the connotation is still there.
Heh, that was nice, thanks a lot man.
That must be some bombing pancakes.
Too bad it wasn't Nagasaki, that way I could've added a Fat Man joke in there somewhere.
I uploaded the chapters I've posted in this thread here if you want to download them for some reason:
