Why do you care about fanbases?
I don't though.
fanbases have nothing to do with the anime in question, if it's good it's good if bad it's bad.
However /a/ kind of have to be cleaned up so the fanbases kind of have to be less obnoxious. Most of /a/ likes Bebop. Doesn't mean the fanbase are going to be tolerate with their typical behavior.
They shit up /a/
Fanbases can poison and completely destroy entire internet forums, websites and boards with their neverending stupidity.
example: Shingeki no Kyojin fanbase.
Of course this has caused a lot of misconceptions in the past.
-They believe Madoka is hated because they think the series is bad, but it's because the fanbase.
-They think /a/ hates Code Geass, but /a/ doesn't hate it or the fanbase, they just KNOW it's a trainwreck of an anime and an enjoyable one at that
-Some trolls believe Naruto is hated merely for the fanbase, but it isn't. It's hated because it is a god-awful series WITH a horrible fanbase.
understand which anime is has which flaw if any and things will go well
also note that simply "defending an anime" is not a sign of a bad fanbase, and people who imply or exhibit such beliefs are probably from /v/.
>-They believe Madoka is hated because they think the series is bad, but it's because the fanbase.
Which is a very foolish reason to hate Madoka, even if I'm not a particularly huge fan of the property as whole (enjoyed the TV series but saw absolutely no need to check out Rebellion).
>-They think /a/ hates Code Geass, but /a/ doesn't hate it or the fanbase, they just KNOW it's a trainwreck of an anime and an enjoyable one at that
That's not quite true either, since you have a variety of opinions. Unlike most actual "trainwrecks" per se, there are plenty of aspects in the series that were pretty well done. The creators had a lot of fun making things go crazy, which is a positive rather than a flaw, while still reaching a satisfactory conclusion.
>-Some trolls believe Naruto is hated merely for the fanbase, but it isn't. It's hated because it is a god-awful series WITH a horrible fanbase.
I've barely seen any Naruto myself to properly judge that, but to be honest, I have the impression people complain about filler and dragging things out most of all.
You might like an anime and the fanbase is shit.
You will be considered equal the the whole fanbase.
If you don't behave like them and you see them and others complaining about everyone that like that anime, you will be considered shit and also have no one to seriously discuss it too.
Result: The Mads
I don't. In fact people who do are annoying
While Code Geass had a lot of problems, it had a great ending, and they managed to redeem Rolo pretty good.
The only reason worth caring about fanbases is if it impairs the ability to have a decent discussion about a series.
Animu is so under the radar that I can simply ignore fanbases and watch everything in a nice little bubble.
However, western fanbases are annoying as hell and the sole reason I don't watch a lot of western television, so I can empathize with the whole good show/bad base problem.
that sumbitch was used to the end of his pitiful days ;_; he just wanted some love
Give me people to discus a series I like.
But mostly the fanfics, fapfics, artwork, porn and doujins.
I sure don't care about them and I find it stupid that people allows them to ruin any series that they enjoyed watching.
