ITT: "Ehh, the book was better".
Basically, the original light novels that were better than their anime adaptation.
Pic related. It counts as a light novel that got seperated into 2 volumes in Japan (it was released as a combined 800 page behemoth here in America).
>that feeling when the first 228 pages of the book focusing on Wataru's family life (and the divorce of his parents) is the best part of the entire book over the fantasy elements
And that's not a bad thing.
Heard this had a sad end.
Also, the movie was good, but they skimmed out on a lot of the details, and this was before I even picked up the book
Haven't finished reading the book yet, but from the movie, the antagonist has a pretty sad backstory to the point that I thought, "holy shit, isn't this supposed to be a kids movie?".
>the book was better
That applies to most LN Anime adaptations though
Anyone read the Sword Art Online novels? I am hoping to god that the books based on the 2nd half of the series is better than its anime adaptation
I've read them all, they're okay, better than the anime at least, not that that's hard huehue
Was the series' second half the same as the book's? Because I heard from so many people hated the second half of the show and was wondering if the book's version is accurate or some things were trimmed down for the anime adaptation
They left a few things out of the Fairy Tail arc anime, which is disappointing because they are touched on in volume 7
I have that book on my shelf. Lovely and heavy hard bound but I need to actually get started on it....
How's the English in it, anon? Since it's a translation and all....
I like the characters, but I didn't really enjoy the latter half of the Durarara!! anime. Are the light novels any better at telling the story?
Don't really know, since I'm not fluent in Japanese. Also, did you get they author's new book, "The Book Of Heroes"?
The second half was alright but it skipped out on a few things like that other anon said. It's not really important to the "main" story but some plot points were skipped that show up in later volumes. ALO as a whole is a fun read but is one of the weaker story arcs in the light novels.
Wait, what the fuck, since when was there an anime of this? I read it back in like fucking middle school or some shit and I never knew.
It came out in Japan 2006.
It never got an official US release, but te film did get dubbed in English
I assume you read it in 2009, because the book wast translated into English until then
Brave Story is a great mini franchise, I'm a fan and started with the book. I wish From the New World novel would get officially localized. But nooo, instead they localized an ecchi manga of it.
she wrote the Ico book, I just got it in the mail wednesday.
Is she any good?
>i got a book from a particular author and instead of reading it i'll ask if that author is good on the internet
I haven't gotten around to starting it yet you fucking fruit cake, i'm in the middle of another book.
I only bought it because it's more Ico, I didn't know she was a popular writer.
Brave story doesn't have a sequel
>Basically, the original light novels that were better than their anime adaptation.
So 99% of LN titles that have been adapted?
First three volumes, which are what the anime makes up, aren't translated.
can i download this anywhere or do i actually gotta spend gold for it
you can DL it, just hope you have a kindle because it's in epub/mobi
cant think of where to get it since its not translated by bakatsuki or anyone
It even has a manga, but is diverged from the novel from what I remember.
Scanlated :10 chapters of 20 volumes.
Tokyopop released 5 volumes before closing.
Well, at least it got an italian release.
its a epub of the official release, but I can't post the links for obvious reasons.
The manga is one of my favorite fantasy, it diverge greatly from the novel/anime but it's one of the best shounen i've ever read.
Anon didn't say anything about a sequel. They've made it into a franchise with movie, game, manga, figures, etc.
