Have you ever blindly downloaded an anime, watched it,and were surprised that you liked it?
Half the shows this season.
Never going to read descriptions of new anime from now on.
Hamatora, granted there are only 2 episodes so far.
I do it all the time.
Every show every season.
I don't like to ruin surprises, so I ignore all threads about a show while it is airing. I don't read plot synopsis or manga. I like to judge a show on it's own merits and form my own opinion before talking with other people about it.
Pretty much this.
Also I bought the VHS box set for Irresponsible Captain Tylor on a whim. It was on sale and ended up being the best thing ever.
I also blindly downloaded inferno cop. I was expecting a serious anime. I bet my reaction was priceless
I read the overviews on the seasonal charts and decide what I feel like watching from that, though lately I've been downloading and watching series that I saw as a kid.
This season seems pretty weak to me in terms of new full-length shows, though I'll check a few out in a week or two when they have a couple more episodes out.
it's how I find most of my anime.
In fact it resulted in my taste being pretty much the oposite of the /a/ mainstream.
Black Jack 21 was blind pick for me.
I downloaded Spice and Wolf only because it was pretty much the only Blu-Ray anime available at the time and I loved it.
Milky Holmes and Ro-Kyu-Bu. With milky holmes I thought it was a dumb loli show for lolicons and wanted to try it just to know how was that kind of anime. So later I tried Ro-Kyu-Bu to watch at least one *actual* show for lolicons and stayed for the basketball and the friendship.
That's pretty much the only way for you to develop your own personal taste for anime. Rather than just pick something off the record charts and just watch whatever someone else tells you is good, and it works, but the charts are just an entry level guideline to get into the medium, not something you use all the time.
downloading blind is smalltime
has anyone ever bought anime blind?
I think there where a few anime that I picked up thanks to AMV Hell.
Also I picked up Tank Police because it was mentioned in a top 10 best dubbed anime OP list
>mfw a lot of them turn out to be shit.
It was pretty okay. Apart from best girl losing.
blindly bought Baccano! and Sengoku Basara
It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't unpleasant at all.
Off the top of my head those were all anime I went into blindly and enjoyed, I may have seen a clip or art of them, but didnt know anything about them before hand
That being said I dont watch much anime
It's called the beginning of a new season
So fucking much potential
Why did it end without anything explained. Like what the fuck.
I was expecting them to ho beyond walls and actually find out what that world is about. God damn.
I still liked it though.
Blindly downloaded Mayo Chiki because of a picture I saw on /a/ without knowing anything about it.
It turned out to be your standard harem, but a really good standard harem, one of my favorites.
Ergo Proxy, granted I watched the pilot, but I was also trying to work something out with my headphones the whole time, the style just looked nice
Saw alot of kyoukai no horizon threads over a few month but i ignored them because i thought it was just another stupid harem show with baloon boobs.
Some time later i was bored and said fuck it, might as well, and to my amazement it was pretty fucking good.
No that sounds horrible. I always read at least a synopsis first, and usually see how much /a/ likes it.
I watched all of Tenshi ni Narumon because the character designs looked so much fun.
I liked the series BECAUSE it didn't explain everything.
I watched the first episode of that
> Oh harem with baloon tits fuck this shit
I hear you all saying it's good, but I can never bring myself to watch it.
I go in near blind a lot. I'll pick up from a name drop on here with a few screenshots and maybe a half-assed description, maybe even less.
i came for slut teacher and stayed for comedy
i hope it won't pull sasami-san or kanamemo on me
Karas, Shana, Hellsing Ultimate and devil may cry
i regret nothing
So to those people that go in 100% blind, how do you choose what to watch?
Here we go again.
I watch everything
This show has the worst character designs ever.
What are you, fucking autistic? Seriously you have to be a gigantic faggot who never leave the house if you watch everything that airs.
I didn't start Kill la Kill until episode 11 was out. I was expecting it to be over hyped shit that /a/ was promoting. I watched 1-11 in one sitting.
Also just watched Spice and Wolf s1 and s2 the last 2 days. I once again expected it to be shit with the only redeeming quality being a top tier waifu. I was surprised that it actually had depth beyond cute wolf girl being autistic to how humans work. That's certainly what I expected.
Kaiji. First episode was standard but the rest was really good.
Kill me Baby, Kino's Journey, and Shigofumi
How could that be what you were expecting when anytime Spice and Wolf is mentioned it almost always gets mentioned that it's Merchant Simulator?
I don't bother going into Spice and Wolf threads. I ignore them. Therefore I have never been in said thread to read any of that. I stay away from threads on anime that I have yet to watch unless I want /a/ to spoil it for me.
>autistic to how humans work
But that is pretty much nothing like Horo. If anything she understands people better than any other character in the series, she just doesn't give a fuck about most things outside of food, alcohol, and her husbandu.
No I am not autistic, I am severely physically disabled, and can't leave the house without help so I have a lot of time to kill.
What I meant was that was what I expected it to be yet it wasn't. I worded that wrong.
Mitsudomoe, just for the loli, turned out to be really fucking funny and lewder than I expected.
I bought Eden of the East blind
Shit was so cash, I fucking loved the low resolution, localized as fuck yellow piss subs
Where the fuck do you think you are, faggot?
Bought Martian Successor Nadesico on VHS when I first was getting into anime. I loved it and still do even though it's shit in a lot of aspects.
Fucking christ its terrible
Some faggot on /v/ made a thread about it like an offtopic-spewing tard, and for whatever stupid reason, me, a person who doesn't even really like Anime, figured i'd give it a go.
And now i like it, come here more often than /v/, and apparently i'm about to download Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai and then watch Space Dandy again whilst waiting for it to finish.
I don't know what's happening with my life.
I did this with Chu2.
Now I want to marry Rikka's perfect sister.
I would call you a filthy crossboarding faggot
but my experience wasn't too different, just not involving /v/
Almost every show I watch.
I always try to go in with absolutely no expectations and most of the time I'm pleasantly surprised.
But Rikka IS the perfect waifu.
I watched the first episode of Hunter x Hunter but I have a feeling this is like a more yaoi version of Naruto.
Oh fuck you KlK was a huge disappointment.
Have a reply.
Yup. Even though /a/ kept saying it was shit. Turns out its perfect
Does that mean my assumption is correct?
I don't feel it is, but it is shonen, so it hits a few cliches, but I am enjoying it
If it makes you feel any better, i kind of sort of absolutely hate /v/.
Ha, the joke's on you.
I can't be disappointed, because i wasn't expecting anything at all.
I do this all the time.
Sort of. Watched Natsuiro Kiseki because of pic related. Loved one of the songs in it as well.
Basically if you haven't done this, you aren't a read anime enthusiast.
I too really enjoyed this show, decided to watch it via a semi-random selection method. One of my favorite shows.
Nothing harem about it. You were confused because you were in shounen or equivalent mindset, simple.
Watch it ready to think, put together the world they throw at you, and you might find yourself enthralled.
>One of my favorite shows
Fucking really? I'm not trying to be rude or anything but damn son.
I still regret that I watched it all.
Yeah. Pic related.
The ending was really rocky, but there were some great moments and episode 6 is fucking incredible.
Pretty much every show every season, and most older shows.
Just make sure you lurk before posting any more. Someone that admits that they are "a person who doesn't even really like Anime" and has seen all of three shows does not have much to contribute to a discussion, even relating to shows they are currently watching. This is an anime board and nobody is going to find it cute that you don't like anime.
Don't regret this decision at all.
Yosuga no Sora
Define "blindly," since I watched the first episodes of K and... something from shaft, name escapes me, was very recent, solely because of some screencaps I saw when they were just starting. K wasn't that amazing but Howling Flame was good enough to keep me watching till the end. That shaft show managed to lose me insanely fast.
Also there's another show I downloaded the other day just because I keep seeing it everywhere, knowing nothing about it, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
Once. It was pretty good.
I bought the Cromartie High School DVDs without seeing it first if that counts.
I swear to God I didn't know what it was about. I only did it because the Konata macros.
Before I accidentally downloaded the first episode of Sakurasou, I never, ever watched SoL shows because I found them all boring.
I watched that first episode Sakurasou out of curiosity, and then another, and then one more, fully expected to drop it within two or three episodes.
Somehow, even though from the threads I glanced at apparently the rest of /a/ hated it, Sakurasou became the only show that season that I really loved, and by the end of the series it had become one of my favorite anime ever and I hate to think of how close I came to not watching it. In small ways, it may have even changed my life.
That one anime made me swear to pick up at least one SoL per season in hopes that I wouldn't miss the next experience, and I've seen a lot of really nice stuff I wouldn't have glanced at otherwise since.
I think everyone should pick up something they wouldn't normally watch at least once per season.
Yeah really. It was chill and varied from usual SoLs in that the girls had romantic interest(s?) and stuff to do.
I know this.
Pretty much most of them.
Hamatora was really good though, quite glad that I blindly downloaded it.
I blindly download a lot of anime based off some screenshots or the cover and maybe a quick skim of the summary.
No I'm not surprised.
Certainly not surprised at all when they're complete shit either. Which is the majority. That's why I download a lot.
The only reason I downloaded and watched Madoka was because I kept seeing Kyubey everywhere. I had no idea what to expect going in, and it's turned out to be one of my favorite animes.
You are so new.
Holy crap. Also that's not blindly downloading. You downloaded it because you saw people talking about it.
I never heard of Madoka before I downloaded it. I literally only saw this image posted several times along with that Won't you become a magical X images, googled the image, found a name, and downloaded it.
Downloaded Hell's Angels on a Random Bakabt thread. I loved it. And then I hated it and deleted it forever.
In the space of 4 or 5 months, I've completely abandoned /v/. I only go here and /vg/ for a couple threads. As strange as it sounds, there's just less shitposting. The topics are more interesting.
i like to type a random word that looks japanese into nyaa and download the top 3 most seeded things and just go with it, works every time
