Oh my god, you guys,
I just finished Legend of a Strongest Man Kurosawa.
Holy shit man. I don't even know what to say. Can we talk about it? I need to talk about it.
I'm literally crying
There is a sequel recently getting serialized.
Isn't Kurosawa dead?
His ghost goes on a trip to find someone who can see him.
That's pretty much the first chapter and barely any more is out yet.
Is this Fukumoto's current project? Did he ever finish Kaiji?
He's doing Akagi, Kaiji and Kurosawa while Zero gets on another Hiatus. Kaiji is currently ending the Kazuya-hen arc, if not finished already.
He always draws multiple manga. I think he is doing Kaiji and Zero too.
This was a fantastic manga. Not really much else I can say about it.
I'm half way through this as I type this.
The last two volumes were incredibly moving.
Kurosawa is truly a strongest man.
Kazuya-hen is finished and its on to the next one, which i beleive isbasically part 4.5
I love fukumoto thread. I just love everything of his.
Just under halfway through Ten.
However waiting for scanlation of Kaiji, Akagi, and Pen-chan is suffering
>the end of Ten
Make sure you're ready for it.
I once started reading it from the part where he pretends to fly around town by flapping his fat or something.
I read straight through from that to the last volume.
At the end I was in tears, I still regret not reading it properly.
As i've heard and im really looking forward to it.
>tfw no more FKMT anime ever
That man was a true badass.
That scene was amazing.
I keep meaning to read or watch Akagi but I can never be bothered to learn how to play mahjong.
Has this guy ever finished a series besides Kurosawa?
Holy shit, that ending
I'm losin it here
Which is also fully translated.
He is truely an admireable man. A role model for those who were born with nothing, and have nothing. More so than Kaiji even. Though I share more characteristics with Kaiji than with any other FKMT character. But SMK feels so down to earth its amazing.
I relate so much towards him. But instead of crying like a bitch, all I can do is feeling sympathy towards the main chracters while shedding one/two admireable tears myself.
The misery of /a/ is that I can't elaborate or doing a sentimental speech because otherwise trolls are telling me to GTFO and with enough shitposting mods might close the thread entirely.
Most of his stuff is publishing, and most of the ones that arent, have not been fully translated.
Kaiji parts 2 and 3 are done.
This was really beautiful
>He is truely an admireable man.
His desperation is ugly and he's way too much of a sperglord to be admirable.
>A role model for those who were born with nothing, and have nothing.
There are people who rise from nothing to become 'truly great' without going through or being the shit that Kurosawa is.
You should mention that Ten and Kaiji part 3 are both mahjong.
Also, you should try watching Akagi anyway. It's pretty entertaining even without any mahjong knowledge and it's how a lot of anons got into mahjong pre-saki.
>You will never be as admirable as that ant
Truly the strongest legend.
>Kaiji turns into Mahjong too.
This kind of pisses me off. Hasn't Fukumoto done enough fucking mahjong already? Keep that shit out of Kaiji. He already had several entire series dedicated to mahjong, have Kaiji play something different.
It is actually pretty interesting though, its different. Its not just regular mahjong. You only even need the basic knowledge to follow
But mahjong is fun.
Also, Kaiji plays a weird variation of it which is pretty much all the games we've had so far.
Seriously? I heard from other anons that he was in a coma for a couple of months or something
But FKM is at his best when he writes about Mahjong and the Mahjong in Kaiji it's not just a regular game.
Gai really isn't that good sadly.
That's such a strong image. I really wasn't expecting this when it neared the end
I literally had to take out some tissues during volume 10.
>not wanting to see glorious animated minefield mahjong.
I was 10/10 MAD when those damn hobos didn't attack and let Kurosawa get beaten nearly to death
Volume 10 was truly amazing. A whole volume of Kurosawa fighting and doing Kurosawa things
ARE YOU AS STRONG A MAN AS KUROSAWA /a/
ARE YOU LIVING ADMIRABLY
it's, OK, he isn't dead, he just spent some years in a coma
>That final battle
God fucking damnit, why do I feel like crying?
Got any images from the sequel series?
If you didn't cry then you don't yet understand the heart of the man called Kurosawa
The crowd had gathered there to watch him fall, to watch their hopes destroyed.
They watched them beat him, they watched them break him, they watched his last defense deployed.
There was not a man among them who would let himself be heard.
But from the crowd, from their collective fear, arose these broken words:
We are the dead
We are the dead
This is honestly one of the best mangas I've read.
It does have some bad elements (the story drags at times and the main character is always letting rives of snot loose from his nose which is annoying to the extreme) but I do love the idea of a very big middle aged man as a main character, and I really like how he's not overpowered.
It's bullshit that Kuro's dead though, he was pretty much confirmed alive by appearing in an Akagi episode...
>It's bullshit that Kuro's dead though, he was pretty much confirmed alive by appearing in an Akagi episode...
Akagi was most likely long dead by the time that Kurosawa was happening.
>the story drags at times and the main character is always letting rives of snot loose from his nose which is annoying to the extreme
That's pretty much a FKMT trademark.
>he was pretty much confirmed alive by appearing in an Akagi episode...
I don't watch/read Akagi because Mahjong was forever ruined for me by that "super sayan retarded manchild Hitler" manga but there's an opening (or ending segment) to Akagi in which Kurosawa is resting sat next to a wall.
I think you mean Kaiji
That was in the OP of Kaiji S2.
That was kaiji. It doesn't mean anything anyway because you have no way of telling when that happened.
I am losing it over here, sorry.
>Implying I didn't cry like a little bitch
Hey, The legend of Koizumi's great
Well he didn't drop dead on the spot
God job little ant...
You did your best.
>tfw I'm probably going to end up like Kurosawa
I have dreams too, but I'm just too much of a loser to achieve them. I'm too lazy to put in the work. I'll probably just avoid any difficult challenges and end up an underachiever.
I didn't cry but I felt like shit.
This is relevant:
NO VIRUSES HERE
None at all.
Maybe you'll learn the lesson those dirty hobos did one day
Not clicking it until someone confirms what it is.
It's an interview.
HOLY FUCK MY MONITOR IS FLASHING RED EVERYWHERE, DON'T OPEN
It's legit but I can't understand shit about moon. Where's Hox when you need him?
he spent 8 years in a coma, and when he wakes up, some guys are fucking next to his bed
What the hell?
FKMT should just let me think he was dead the ending is way better like that
He will never get the respect he deserves.
A distant day of fireworks
A weak illusion of a heart that stopped beating
Yes, this year, this man
Has already been sleeping for 8 years
Is this the manga with that construction worker? I remember it being dumped on /a/ a while back, but I never got far.
I'm just gonna pretend he died
I'm not sure I can accept this as canon.
Tragic as it is, I think the ending to the original series is far more meaningful and powerful if he dies there.
Go read it before you get spoiled you naive bastard
By the time this gets translated the series will be done entirely.
How far along is the series right now? Nothing's been translated yet?
Holy shit go read it, the terrible drawing style is not enough to mar the awesome of this manga.
It starts a bit slow but once it picks up (When he goes to a school building, is all I will say) it's awesome.
Nope. First volume has been out since November 29th and nothing.
>Hating on FKM art.
>terrible drawing style
I don't care, I'd rather he stay DED
>terrible drawing style
Nigga the art style is one of the best parts
And Fukumoto has proven that he CAN draw legit "good" art when he wants to, he just chooses to do this style.
>the terrible drawing style
Don't let your love for his works blind you, anons.
He even admits himself that he can't draw for shit.
It's funny because whatever isn't ''characters'' is actually well drawn.
That's a lie and you know it.
>It's funny because whatever isn't ''characters'' is actually well drawn.
He hires assistants.
>That's a lie and you know it.
>He hires assistants.
Might as well let assistants draw the whole fucking manga then.
It's appealing, clear and works very well in conjunction with the other parts of the work (for example, it gives emphasis to strong emotions). Perhaps his technique isn't great, but the art as a whole works real fucking good (ie. it's good), and there is evidence of it being at least non-awful.
>and there is evidence of it being at least non-awful
In regards to his technique, that is. Unless those bits were drawn by someone else, of course.
But then he'd only be the writer and he'd make less dosh.
He already did that before by the way.
Can i just jump into the Washizu arc of the Akagi manga after watching the anime or did the adaptation leave something out?
>He hires assistants.
Assistants only do repetitive shit, like the tiles on Akagi, or the final inking. The rest is 100% made by him.
There are 2 mahjong battles missing, but none of them are relevant for the story. You might as well jump into the Washizu arc.
If you can into mahjong then go ahead.
Washizu arc is the akagi manga
>His desperation is ugly and he's way too much of a sperglord to be admirable.
You sound like a kid or someone who posts on /v/. Get lost.
>There are people who rise from nothing to become 'truly great' without going through or being the shit that Kurosawa is.
Those people were lucky then.
Tens of thousands of good willed people kill themselves off due to desperation because they think they have no chance in this world. This is the serious dark side of what people would call "first world problems".
Anyway, people on /a/ and 4chan in general shit on themselves all the time, I guess there is no purpose to formally discuss these issues on such a board.
>He even admits himself that he can't draw for shit.
Most half decent artists will tell you that their art sucks.
More proof he can draw for real when he wants to.
It's just his style that comes in his way.
But FKMT is good enough. He is keeping things oldschool which is always good.
This guy has done a ton of different series but half of them are about mahjong.
Why does he have such a fucking hard-on for mahjong?
Why don't you.
I wonder the same thing.
Its an interesting game, which is very popular over there, and as the king of Mahjong manga there is no short supply of mahjong magazines that want his work.
Why didn't Kurosawa use his faeces to scare off the bullies like he did before?
Who would want to knock down some hobo shacks if it meant getting shit all over them, potentially in their cuts?
Normally Fukumoto doesn't leave holes like this in his writing.
Ok, I'm reading. I feel like I'm reading WataMote
that was probably drawn closely from a reference. synthesising a cartoon from your imagination is a different skill.
Because he didn't need to be that desperate.
He had an army of hobos to fight with him.
I'm still not entirely sure what the deal with the "zawa zawa" is. At first I thought it was Fukumoto's equivalent of "GO GO GO" or "DO DO DO" but then I heard it was supposed to be the murmurings of a crowd.
It's an onomatopoeia for suspense or an uneasy atmosphere.
Reading this with /a/ was the best experience ever.
I lost it so hard on both of these pages.
I thought it was the sound of a group talking among themselves.
