Why do people believe The Cat Returns was disappointing compared to Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa and Spirited Away? This was the general consensus I've found from people I know. Is it because its narrative wasn't as obvious as the latter set? Or because it was "just a kids' show"?

What are your thoughts?

Perhaps it was too furry.

I think it was a good anime.

Was watching it on tv, and i recognize it is indeed from Studio Ghibli, don't ask me how.

Enjoyed it throughly. Its different in a sense its more to comedy than trying to tell a moral story. There is still a moral in it so its a good watch.

Of course, there's a distinct feeling to Ghilbi movies. I have no idea why no other studios have not tried to replicate it, though.

i expected a ghibli and i got something else, and a ghibli feel anyway. It thought it was funnier.
