Why didn't it get into the nominees /a/? Why did Despicable Me 2 get in but not Madoka?
Not murikan enough
What do you mean, "why"? It should be pretty apparent.
I mean, you fucking posted one major reason.
Because America anon, we have been through this
I guess i should hope Miyazaki get's the oscar
Because Madoka was shit.
Because the Oscars have zero taste.
Brave won last year over Raze it Randy and Paranorman.
better than despicable me 2
Because it's shit.
Because it looks like something made for pedophiles.
The academy awards are pretty much a sham to generate revenue. Madoka isn't appropriate for young children, and there's a stigma in America against cartoons aimed at older teens/adults, so there was really nothing for the shills to gain by promoting this.
So Frozen confirmed to win?
While I do believe Madoka deserved to win, Despicable Me 2 was actually pretty good when the yellow things weren't the main focus.
Just as well Madoka is STILL magical girl and the west hasn't accepted that it's not like other magical girl anime.
yep, they usually go for the Pixar film, but since MU was mediocre and had no "message" for little girls they just couldn't give it an oscar, so Disney will have to suffice
>While I do believe Madoka deserved to win
Opinion totally discarded.
It was pretty obvious it wasn't even going to get the nomination, but somehow I feel sad.
Because the good thing get good things and the crap into the trash it goes!
>there actually were people who believed madoka would get nominated
I don't understand.
I'm probably going to cry myself to sleep tonight
The shitstorm would have been glorious.
Frozen isn't Pixar, but it's still Disney so your point still stands. Frozen is a damn good movie, though.
fuck off you god damned retards
Madoka Rebellion was honestly among my favourite movies of all time, up there with Disney's best efforts. Although I really doubted it would get anywhere near an Oscar, especially when its recognition only goes as far as the extremely unprofessional journalists who are normally tasked with reviewing Anime, i.e. Kotaku and ANN. No Roger Eberts picked up the movie, looked at it beyond face value and gave it support and recognition.
I thought Frozen was pretty shit.
>that asspull ending
Pixar writes better shit than that.
I know what you mean anon.
It wasn't even best Madoka. I'm sort of ambivalent about Rebellion. I feels like a movie that didn't need to exist, but that was created to bring in more money. In the process it ruined Homura's character and brought Sayaka and Madoka back for no real reason, essentially giving everyone a happy ending.
I want you to fucking tell me in what universe Madoka gets the Oscar
It was the same ending of the series but with Madoka and Homura's positions switched at the end, Homura beat hope with the power of friendship
I want you to tell me why you keep bumping bad threads.
>Madoka isn't appropriate for young children
I mean with all the violence that goes on TV, I am pretty the thought of a character actually dying is not UTTERLY HORRIFIC.
Because Despicable Me 2 was better
>Homura beat hope with the power of friendship
And then love will beat that.
Can I at least get the satisfaction knowing that some committee had to watch this movie before giving it the thumbs down?
We've been over this.
Judges are only required to view 80% of the animated movies submitted.
You think a subtitled sequel about magical girls that aired for only one week in LA (the bare minimum) was included in that 80%? It probably wasn't watched at all, let alone voted on.
The oscars are a complete joke. Madoka has won enough awards on its home soil, where it actually has some marketing push and popularity behind it.
Because it's moeshit, fuck off.
confirmed for not knowing a goddamn thing
You should be asking why Frozen, one of the most shittily written animated Disney films in the last 20 years, got nominated over Meguka, which is still not that great, and ridiculously confusing to anyone unfamiliar with Madoka.
DM2 was actually a solid sequel.
I'm wondering the same thing
I don't think that the majority of parents approve of their kids watching violent TV. Are you trying to imply that the average 11 year old watches shit like Breaking Bad? They're used to adventure time and spongebob.
And even going beyond the deaths, there are dark themes like suicide, the soul gems, SUFFERING, and angst that are clearly aimed at ages 15+.
>Homura beat hope with the power of friendship
Do you really want Madoka getting mainstream press? Just, think real hard about that for a second.
According to the rules, they only have to watch like 80% of the entries or something around that number and they do not have to watch any preceding movies.
Just these two factors alone pretty much guaranteed that it stood no chance at getting nominated.
It would only be mainstream if it actually won an ocsar, and it probably wouldn't even be that mainstream since people don't give a shit about the animation category.
Even though I knew it wouldn't happened, the nomination would have caused a great shitstorm on /a/. Which is what really matters to me.
Because it wasnt made by a jew nor published by a jew-owned production company, neither were any of it's initiative-takers a close friend of any rich jew.
Only movies that were released in American movie theaters are eligible.
Are you stupid? It's the blatantly obvious and horribly disgusting yuri pandering.
Yurifags ruin EVERYTHING.
>Gasp, A sign of true love!
Fuck that shit
did you really not have a friend who's parents wouldn't care and let you and your pal watch 007 / horror movies / splatter and occationaly "forget" a porn mag where he knew you and your friend would find it when you were 11-13.
I thought Americans loved gay shit
Are you sure?
>caring what a bunch of moneygrubbing Jews out in LA think about Madoka
Looks like trash, sounds like trash, written like trash. People just eat shit made by disney. Not to say they haven't done fantastic movies but this is just so below the bar for them.
This makes me glad my parents never censored anything I watched.
Because the people who do nominees are already biased against non miyazaki anime
Because the people who do nominees don't have to watch the previous films to vote/not vote on a movie
Because people in America have actually heard of Despicable Me 2 and The Croods
They haven't made a decent film since fucking Mulan.
>$70 for 2 episodes
>2 recap movies
I don't give a shit about the oscars but don't be blind.
Who gives a fuck, no one cares about oscar nominations for animated films even among oscarfags.
Even Gen in some old interview didn't even know what oscar is.
>The Croods and Despicable Me 2 got nominated over Madoka
Madofag tears are delicious.
