This shit has been annoying me for some time now, and I'm wondering what the rest of /a/ has to say about it.

Vastly exaggerated and seriously shitty height/weight estimates. Now that I've finally started watching Hajime no Ippo, thoughts that lots of other jap-made stuff made me going on has recently reawakened, as the series has lots of focus and mentions to the characters weight. Ippo's a tiny little shortstuff with BULGAN MUSCLES everywhere, yet he qualifies as a featherweight. That's around 120lbs/60kgs. I can kinda get this. But then we have Takamura, who's head and shoulders taller than anyone and everyone else, with enough muscles to put a bodybuilder to shame. And the bastard's a Middleweight, and at most 73kgs/160lbs.

Pic very much related.

/a/ does not watch manly anime
>>
Japanese people can't get big, so they make the smaller people look bad ass. /thread
>>
That's because Takamura is in very severe weight control to manage middleweights, since he'd never get a match in the heavies (being japanese).

No, the way he's drawn makes no sense, but that's the explanation, anyway.

TAKAMURA PUSHES ASIDE REASON WITH HIS UNREASONABLENESS!!!

after the anime ends, in the manga, you learn takamura should be 6 weights higher, but because there are no jap opponents in those weight class, he must be where he is
>>
That because its anime NOT REAL LIFE you dumbfag!

No, the problems persist in ZZ, too.

Other series have got this shit going as well. Grappler Baki, for one.

Baki is supposed to be around like 70kgs, and I get the vague feeling that they somewhere mentioned that Hanayama(the near 7' tall man-ogre Hanayama) was around 90kgs, but I hope I'm pulling that last one out of my ass.

Grappler Baki has the most hilarious character designs ever, and we will just leave it at that.

That's what makes it so awesome: The horrendously exaggerated muscle-men and their habit to eat raw slabs of meat veeeery slowly.

Don't forget these are japanese characters, a head above anyone else makes him about 175 cm in height at most.
>>
>>10043253
I'll never cease to be amazed by how fucking _tiny_ the asianics really are.

Only pygmy tribes in who-the-hell-knows-where can challenge them in their shortness.
>>
>>10043253

175 cm with dem bulgan muscles would equal 90-100 kg IRL.
>>
>>10043253
Takamura is near 180 cm.
He is a natural heavyweight, and he forces himself to go to middleweight(before each weigh-in, he sometimes becomes only bone and muscles with no water in his system).

But it is a fact that the muscle-mass in Ippo is a bit exagerated(they all appear to be 2 weight classes higher).
>>
>>10043295
At least. Fuck, just look at the OP pic.

"LOOK AT MY SQUARE PECS, GODDAMN!"
>>

muscles are less about weight and more about body fat. If you have less bodyfat from all that cardio you'll look like Bruce less and the muscles just pop up. Everyone HAS muscles, but a layer of fat is just covering it. So weighing less= more muscle makes sense.
>>
I must be a fucking body builder at 155 pounds.
>>
>>10043354
Except Bruce Lee wasn't inflated with muscle, and muscle has more mass than fat.
>>
>>10043354
Muscles are heavy as fuck, man, so unless you're "skinny and wiry"-muscular, you'll weigh quite a bit.
>>
>So weighing less= more muscle makes sense.
i facepalm'd irl.
