Why are GL fans so goddamn defensive? No one else whines as much as you guys when their favorite show is put down.
you know how kids are
They're nothing but a bunch of 14 year olds discovering their dicks
Because the show is generally recognized as good and most people that 'put it down' either haven't seen it at all or hate it because it's popular.
>DURR HURR TROLL DURR HURR
They're fanatics just like the ps3/xbox/wii fanboys in /v/. They see attacks on their favorite show as personal attacks against themselves.
Makes trolling boringly easy.
>haven't seen it at all
The seven of these people who exist on /a/ can barely type their own names
SHUTUP GL IS THE BEST ANIME EVER UTENA'S DIRECTOR SAID SO
I'll go on record and declare Gurren-Lagann as anything but mindless, completely incomparable to Code Geass or the like. The show is that of a strong opinion, one carried by an unflinching speech. The delivery of a multi-layered meaningful assertion is the ultimate objective, a carefully calculated achievement towards an "altered state of mind".
The narrative strips a media swallowed down by purposeless plot convulsion from unnecessary fluff and successfully intertwines in a concrete shape of unyielding palpability what is commonly recognized as separate: argument, theme and symbolism take a single. From the depths of nostalgia the forgotten but powerful voice of honest beliefs surfaces within a technique of representation built over naked, yet fundamental, ideas. In more than one way this essential notion behind the storytelling is deliberately old-fashioned yet actively forward-looking.
Stagnation, mindless progress and the very nature of human "evolution"; with a manifest yet subtle use of imagery such an abstraction becomes core for the script. They're amazingly broad, basically limitless, yet due to their handling tangible enough to be substantial. Textually knitted into the actual writing without even resorting to term dropping; eloquently described through a seamless combination of visuals, dialogs and raw feelings.
Seriously, I don't even bother trolling GL most of the time. The only thing I say about it is that I hated the post-timeskip world because I thought it was generic as opposed to the world before.
In before Cirno.
>>10041565 The only thing I say about it is that I hated the post-timeskip world because I thought it was generic as opposed to the world before.
LS fags were like that until they gave up and decided to only post images.
GLfags need to follow suit until the trolling dies down.
Incorrect. I've seen every bit of it. But what gets me is I'll make a comment praising a bunch of things about it like the drop-dead gorgeous animation for example, but say one thing about how the characters and story weren't very fresh and memorable and every single GL fan on the planet will call me a troll and act like I pierced their dignity through the heart with a spear ala episode eight.
I politely direct your attention to the Lucky Star fans.
Why has no one said something along the lines of "Who cares? More female Simon please." I thought I knew you, 4chan.
How the fuck can you say the characters aren't fresh or memorable?
Name ONE animu character from the last ten years that has had as much progression and characterization as Simon did. I fucking dare you.
Triple dog dare even.
I wish Lucky Star fags would just stick to /c/. At least there's stuff to discuss about GL (animation, LOL SYMBOLISM, the fucking ending etc)
Took me ten seconds.
I'm not against GL or so, but in my opinion, Kaiji has a lot bigger characterization. Realising the truth of the game etc, realize no one will care and all that stuff, and evolving into a man. Simon took like what, 5 years?
Kaiji became a man in 4 hours.
Oops, that's 30 years.
Oh please. He had one badass moment in the anime and he's suddenly grown as a character?
Simon progresses in every fucking episode of GL. He grows up. He stops acting like a fucking baby and letting everybody tell him what to do to giving the orders and being a man.
The only other character I can think of that's grown like that is Renton, and he didn't get there until the last half of the last episode of his series, which happens to be twice as long.
>>10041592 as much progression and characterization as Simon did
Yes, this is certainly a quantifiable property than can be accurately measured without any bias whatsoever. Totally not an opinion.
Im more memorable than that faggot Simon.
>GL fans so goddamn defensive
You're a wet paper bag that rages against the world when his wife acts like a fucking retard and gets herself killed.
Get the fuck out.
See? He had defining features.
Simon can't touch that.
ITT: GL Fags get trolled even though the OP pretty much admits to trolling.
GL Fags: You are proving the OP's point...
Anyone who has a problem with Gurren Lagann is exactly the kind of person the series is talking about. Pathetic fanboys locked in a fantasy world who are not trying to tackle real issues of philosophy or life.
Escapists suck. Gurren Lagann is a masterpiece without peer. It is the apotheosis of each element: film, animation, art, darma, storytelling, and music.
And for those who go on about budget shortfalls and shit, I've got one thing for you: They made it work. The budgetary problems that Gurren Lagann had are not in any way a reason to deride it, and they never have been.
For those who call Simon whiney, or the overall series emo: congratulations, you're running away from emotions and you're a callous fuck. Good job. Every human wants to be legitimately loved by other humans, and plenty of them do not get the upbringing necessary to cope with the realities of human interaction. It's so cool that you can laugh at those unfortunate souls. Because you know if you laugh at someone then clearly you yourself are not a victim of their maladies. Not at all. You're not hiding or putting up a wall or anything.
And we know that Gurren Lagann is about real human issues because, omgz, it was based on real psychology and philosophy, and not just one, but actually drew from several diverse and even conflicting elements. Much the same as humans themselves have internal conflicts. This only makes Gurren Lagann more relevant and more powerful.
>ITT the GLfags countertroll by meeting the OP's expectations.
Lol defensive butthurt GL fags.
Thanks for proving my point completely.
Haha, oh wow.
Not defensive faggotry at all.
Nice troll copypasta. I bet GL fags really think that will help defend their show.
It's copypasta you retard.
And they are counter-trolling. Lurk moar.
Gurren Lagann kicks puppies and eats babies.
Yeah right. GL fags don't have enough brain cells to counter-troll. They are too busy watching GL over and over to lurk enough to counter-troll. And that copypasta talks about escapism. LOL!!!!
I'm the original author of "I'll go on record and call Gurren-Lagann anything but mindless..." but this still boggles my mind.
YES NOT BIASED AT ALL.
Coming of age stories are not the only instances of character development.
That is an Evangelion copypasta.
The character development of Simon pales in comparison to that of Inuyasha.
if you don't like GL you're a troll. that's all.
Just like Lucky Star, eh?
GL is the new EVA.
Evangelion? I liked it better when it was called Ideon.
Because trolls are always saying the most ridiculous shit
What, like the post-timeskip world is unoriginal and not nearly as interesting as the pre-timeskip world? Wow, that IS so stupid.
Yup, exactly like that.
Yeah, who could neone troll Gurren Laggen?
Gurren-Lagann is the best thing sliced bread.
It is full of symbolism, philosphy, ideals and strong message about moving forward.
The concept of evolution is very strong in Gurren-Lagann, you must move forward, but you will destroy everything by doing so, will you do it?
The animation is superb, 22000 frames per episode is really serious. It's like watching five shows at the same time.
The characters are perfect. Kamina, Simon, Nia, Yoko, theu are more than chracters they are live people.
Gurren-Lagann is the anime that will define anime for centuries to come, believe it!
darn, I though I would get higher then that...oh well, I didn't write it...was just copypasta.
You JUST NOW copied it out of another thread. 6/10 is laughable in the face of this mediocre trolling.
haha I was just kidding. 8/10 for self.
I love GL for what it is. A fun well animated anime with a colorful cast of characters, giant robots, and a progressive storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
GL is like an abstract poem - completely meaningless until you interpret it the way the author tells you to.
Code Geass is like a classic novel - Great without interpretation.
whats this? A smart GL fan? One who doesn't assume GL is the holy grail? I actually agree with you, GL fan. I did enjoy this show, but it wasn't deep, or the greatest show, or the best possible characterization.
I'm the OP here. That's pretty much how I feel too. It was a fun show. But God forbid I should point out one teensyweensy flaw.
Because it is like my child. I must protect it.
