Normally I avoid harem/dating game/ero-game/moeblob anime like it gives you testicular cancer but I saw a couple of funny bits on Youtube of this lovely lady beating the snot out of some poor dopey sonuvabitch. Is there a lot of stuff like this in Clannad or are these just the highlights taken out of context, like the Matsumoto/Orihime molestation scene from Bleach?
You're probably a troll, but if you're not, stay far away from this shit.
There is a severe lack of Tomoyo in CLANNAD. I suggest not watching.
Enjoy your slapstick
No, stuff like this pretty much happens for a lot of the anime. Happens more early on, but just happened in the latest episode as well. You are prolly a troll anyways, so it most likely doesn't matter.
>>poor dopey sonuvabitch
You speak blasphemy of /a/'s one true King!
Don't bother with it.
Surprisingly, in before Keytards.
I wouldn't say there's "a lot", but you should give it a try anyway. The main character is actually likeable and he jokes around from time to time.
all i'm seeing is the severe lack of tomoyo-bear
>Normally I avoid harem anime
just kill yourself, newfag
The guy says something stupid and she kicks him. The stupid thing he says is occasionally amusing. There isn't really any funny in the show other than that. Don't watch it if you're not a moefag like me.
How could you think it is isn't funny!?!?! I laugh over 9000 times each episode.!!!
Keyfag here, I can recommend it but I can't make sure you will like the show. It's up to you.
Give it a try, if it doesn't fit your taste then just drop.
If you like girls beating the crap out of people, watch love hina or zero no tsukaima.
All tsun and no dere make for shit raging shows, but whatever floats your boat.
Why? You just gotta watch episode 1 of any harem show to know how it's gonna end. Stupid and clichéd, but that's the way it is.
I stop watching when Kotomi arc ended
Actually this show is more funny than dramatic.
I hardly see any funny. More like cute.
>Why? You just gotta watch episode 1 of any harem show to know how it's gonna end. Stupid and clichéd, but that's the way it is.
Not all the time. I never thought Asa would be the chosen girl from the first episode. Same with Canvas 2.
There's cliched harems, WAY too cliched harems and acceptable cliched harems.
Seriously? I laugh at it a lot.
Well, maybe that's what they call personal taste.
Troll pasta, but relevant:
First episode impressions:
It stinks of harem.
It stinks of harem and it stinks of Key and horrible plot devices, and I don't like it.Everything from the main character and his comedic relief sidekick to the superpowered Tomoyo and even the powerpointish scene transitions stinks of generic harem game conversion #1165346, and I fail to see what makes this so absurdly good.Granted, it IS pretty funny at times, but plenty of shows are funny and this is not especially so. It's also nicely animated.
So far (one episode rolololol) the characters are only impressive in their genericness. "I have a weak body" for no reason at all, "I have dad who's an alcoholic and I hate everything but suddenly I'm helping Cute Girl with Weak Body #93452 for no particular reason", "Hi I'm the comedy relief sidekick character and have no purpose in the show at all except to be dumb", "I'm the MILF and this is my husband who seems really threatening", "I'm the superpowered cool girl that has NO loving REASON AT ALL to fall for the main character but I'll do that anyway because the director said so lolz".
Then there's Key trademark: the absurd flashbacks and "mysterious" miracle plot devices that never seem to lead anywhere at all. Empty world? Wishes that come true? THAT SOUNDS LIKE KEY ALRIGHT. Let's see how absurd the explanations will be this time and how they'll be used to advance the show. It'll be fun to write about, I'm sure.
tl;dr: it smells like harem, it looks like harem and it tastes like harem. Heck, it most likely IS harem but cleverly disguised as a drama about "families", with some elements of "magic" tossed in to make shutin nerds dream. Do not want but will watch anyway for the comedic relief scenes and to troll people.
NEXT EPISODE: even more girls, even more hair colors! EXCITEMENT!
Furthermore, are the people who are saying this has the best animation of any show this season blinded by their Kyoto Animation-colored sunglasses, or are their brains trying to interpolate something from all the horrible blurring of the shitty raws? I mean, there are some really good scenes but 75% of the episode is just talking heads, standard harem show style, interspersed by the scene transitions stolen from Powerpoint. What’s with this, Kyoani? Are you TRYING to get it to look like a h-game on purpose or what? Where’s the imagination and fluid animation of the Haruhi or FMP:TSR fame?
And the mysterious dead world thing and the ghost thing goes on. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME, KEY? You could MAYBE do decent character drama if you didn’t fucking insist on all these FUCKING PLOT DEVICES that make your scenario writers look like 14-year-olds writing bad fanfiction. Le sigh.
tl;dr: Harem feeling getting stronger, nothing else of interest happens. Character development only develops clichees. Durr. May troll more later but I’m running out of stuff to write about.
NINJA EDIT: oh, and I also like (lol not really) the standard Key beat-you-over-the-head-with-a-bag-of-cement foreshadowing.
So. Clannad 02.
JUST AS PLANNED EXPECTED. No wait, the wishes come true thing was just acting. Or was it? Knowing Key they’ll make a silly plot device out of it, I CAN FEEL IT.
The collection of Really Generic Harem Girls Key Style is now complete. (Or is it!?) We have:
* The moé main heroine with a “weak body” (will we ever get an explanation for this mysterious disease?)* The violent, most likely tsundere girl* The mysterious martial-arts skilled cool girl* The good and nice class president girl* The silent genius girl, and finally* The token dumb loli-like girl.
IMAGINATIVE, ISN’T IT! Most of these are carbon copies of the Kanon girls (durr, as if anyone would be surprised). Someone was already starting to hope Tomoya would end up with [someone who isn’t Nagisa]. Oh how silly, harem rule #1: the main character will always end up with the first girl he meets and who is first in the OP. If a harem show breaks this rule it’s called an interesting and innovative plot twist (see the Shuffle debacle). Also, what the christ is with Tomoya? Is he some kind of schizophrenic? HAY I HATE MY FATHER AND I’M REALLY BITTER BUT I’M WALKING AROUND SCHOOL BEING NICE TO CUTE GIRLS JUST BECAUSE A MAN’S GOTTA DO WHAT A MAN’S GOTTA DO
The life of the guy who wrote it all must suck a lot.
You left out the down syndrome.
