Now that's been years past, what did you think of FullMetal Alchemist, Manga and/or Anime?
Thanks to the successful reboot people hate it more than you think.
It's all good, The manga, the 2003 anime and Brotherhood.
It's probably my favourite battle shounen, even if I thought the final fight was subpar. But being good in a sea of shit isn't necessarily an achievement.
9/10 it's shit
I enjoyed the manga, though I stopped reading at v20 while I waited for Viz to finish releasing it and haven't had a chance to finish it off yet.
Brotherhood is better. This is objectively true
Anyone defending the first anime is just nostalgic
Manga >> Brotherhood >>>>> 2003
It's my favourite shonen. Everything about it is nearly perfect.
Even the dub. You know its true.
Not this shit again.
Brotherhood was and will always be shit compared to 2003
Get out 03fags
I watched 2003 and I didn't like it.
I watched Brotherhood and I didn't like it.
For some reason I didn't drop brotherhood like I dropped 2003, and it got good about when Ling appeared.
I like Wrath and Greed and Hawkeye.
Brotherhood was great. Perhaps even excellent; maybe not as a show overall, but for its "genre" of "shounen".
Lots of different factions/groups/characters that interact and clash throughout the show. Great animation. Likeable characters. Music does its job. Some philosophy (and it not being very cheesey). A fitting ending. Good messages. The show was very good at making you like characters, even if it took time, and turning "bad" guys into "good" guys.
this. obviously I wouldn't call FMA underrated because it's one of the most popular anime of all time. rather, I'd say it doesn't deserve the hate it gets on /a/. Compared to all the other super-popular shonens getting pumped out, FMA & Brotherhood are some of the best.
2003 > Manga > Brotherhood
Brotherhood was just fucking boring for the last 20 episodes. Manga is in the same vein. Problem with it was it just turned into some generic shonen anime by the end in those versions. 2003 was interesting in the route it took, and the movie was particularly enjoyable.
>the movie was particularly enjoyable
Thought the first anime was shit, Brotherhood was pretty good.
>Implying it isn't
manga > 03 anime > brotherhood
It's only nostalgiafags that hate that particular reboot.
between the 03 anime and brotherhood barely anyone dislikes this series.
this doesn't even fucking make sense
I rewatched the old FMA after brotherhood.
First anime is some Mary Sue shit, haven't seen brotherhood.
It's on an entirely higher plane of quality.
This. It was also refreshingly concise.
They were all pretty good. Though 2003 was a bit predictable/slow for my tastes.
Pretty good. Must read.
Interesting original take on the subject, great directing and music, asinine fillers and plotholes.
Don't touch it if you've read the manga. Great sakuga, shit directing and shit pacing.
Oh the glorious times when mangas were 14PLN per volume. Now it's 20-25(not conuting Otoyomegatari and Hanami's stuff)
