I hope The Wind Rises can win the Ocsar
But that's an D3A Val, not a Ki-43 Oscar
I haven't seen it yet, but Ernest&Celestine is also a great contender.
But let's not kid ourselves, we all know the Academy can't get enough of that Disney/Pixar dick. Frozen will win it.
Play War Thunder by any chance?
Knowledge from Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator and Battlestation: Midway, I suppose.
>beating a masterpiece like Frozen
>cg shit beating 2D
It's not that great
either frozen or ernest get it.
>designing death planes of betrayal is cute
It's an insult that this was nominated.
I haven't seen Frozen, Ernest nor Wind, but I have the feeling that Wind will probably win it.
Where can I place real money bets for the oscars?
It's far more deserving of an award than movies that are merely entertaining.
Do you think Miyazaki would receive the Oscar together with Anno?
Frozen is pretty much a shoo-in unfortunately.
Also I accidentally clicked on /co/ the other day and was surprised there was a "Frozen General" already at like edition #160. Can't believe that shit has a Katawa Shoujo-tier fanbase
It is merely entertaining at best.
I can't imagine what kind of person would be entertained by such a dry film without grasping the subtext that makes it great.
Oh, you're one of those people who think the existence of subtext immediately makes something deep and thought provoking. Well carry on then I guess.
>Oscar Award Night
>Time comes for Best Animated Film
>To read the results they introduce guest star, Gabe Newell
>Gabe takes out the single and only copy of Half Life 3
>Still complete silence
>Gabe takes a lighter and gasoline and burns the game case
>Spotlight turns on
>the smoke spells, "The winner is Madoka"
Anno will never win an Oscar by himself
Well, it was thought provoking at least. It's Miyazaki basically explaining his entire philosophy on life and art, you can't tell me that doesn't pique your interest.
>Can't believe that shit has a Katawa Shoujo-tier fanbase
>what is last season.
>i basically explaining his entire philosophy on life and art
the thing is he is average at doing it, miyazaki has always been more about magic and shit reather than trying to tell "deep" stories.
I like how stripped down the movie is. He manages to make depictions of real life feel magical. I wouldn't call it average by any means.
Anyway. the message itself is what give the movie its weight.
>Mfw Rebellion wasn't nominated
It will because of MUH LEGACY
>Mfw Rebellion wasn't nominated
>seriously believing Madoka would made it up to the list
You madokafags are seriously braindamaged
>History about creator of Zero.
>WWII Kamikaze weapon.
>Muh murrica WWII pride.
More chance Madoka win than this.
Being the last director in the animation industry able to draw shit.
does that actually happen in the oscars? Maybe I should watch one
Why would a movie almost nobody watched win the Oscar?
Disney deserves an Oscar for their excellent work on Frozen anyway. They need to make more girly movies and less "Chicken Little" shit.
Yes, there is Gaben burning shit and smoke spelling the names of winners that aren't even nominated every year
>there are people on /a/ who legitimately believe Rebellion would even have a chance to be nominated
Well, all there's left to do now is drink your tears.
>only box office hits can win oscar
Not when it comes for animation and non English speaking movies anon
>Why would a movie almost nobody watched win the Oscar?
I'd be curious to see what would happen if an anime studio was given the budget and tools to make a mostly CG anime made with this level of 3D skill and rendering. It would probably turn out actually alright. Most CG anime is shit because the CG is shittily done, not because CG is inherently shitty.
It didnt do as bad as people think
Besides rango has great animation
>It didnt do as bad as people think
It was going up against Kung Fu Panda II and Puss n Boots two movies that did two times better and it wasn't being pushed at all.
It did "okay" but threw under the radar of a lot of people that year.
