What makes fist of the north star so good?
And why has it yet to be topped in the almost 30 years since it has aired?
The original Shounenshit.
sakura trick just topped it
Themes of honor, masculinity, strength, and fearlessness make it great but the way they were portrayed was perfectly executed.
the entire industry became less masculine every year since.
MC is a grown-up man. He doesn't need a training arc, a nakama, or to learn about the meaning of friendship and love.
but kenshiro had nakama
Themes of manly virtue and simple human integrity
Also the fights
dat fucking shading muh dick
The answer is pathos
Is this a new meme?
I watched it and was bored too death. Its too slow and predictable
Read the manga, it is vastly superior to its anime adaptation.
Despite being so influential on Shonen are there really any characters truly similar to Kenshiro?
It seems like the genre just copied the giant muscles and super attacks but entirely missed the point.
Because it's simultaneously manly as fuck and hilariously gay.
I had no internet and computer for a week. Good thing is that I was prepared.I marathoned whole thing on my shitty tablet.
exactly, its the emotional aspect that makes it memorable
Neo-/a/ pls go
I'll let it slide, but no, only a handful of characters take after Kenshiro. He was a product of his time, which is why younger people who try to get into HnK nowadays probably have a harder time understanding why he's such a great MC.
Poor effort, but will upset some weak-minded people I suppose.
They tended to die though.
I wish ken used this technique more often.
because kenshiro is the epitome of manliness and upstanding moral character
As someone who just got around to watching the first episode, I assure you it will be the surprise of the season for a good chunk of the board.
>that moment when Ken reunited with Toki
>And why has it yet to be topped in the almost 30 years since it has aired?
check this faggot
2/10 because I laughed
It has definitely been topped by shonen, like jojo and one piece
Even that faggot Shinji is better than that boring moralfag bullshit that is Kenshiro.
Kenshiro was TOLD DIRECTLY FROM GOD THAT EVERYTHING HE EVER DID AND EVERYTHING HE EVER WILL DO IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
If that's not the shittiest and most uncompelling character you've ever heard, then yes, you are a moralfag.
I AM SHOCK
>Wan Piss topping anything
Guts vs. Ken
hehe yeah man xD
You are now reminded most of the people who worked on this series are already dead
Invincible badass protagonist.
it sure is topping popularity and sales anon
probably kenshiro, but guts may have a chance with the berserker armor
Who wins in a fight, Raoh or ultimate Toguro?
everyone is allowed to have their opinions, no matter how shitty. but if you haven't even tried it then go die
>why has it yet to be topped
It got topped a long time ago, OP.
You're aware Shonen is for children, right? Children tend to enjoy moral centric protagonists. It appeals to the moral policeman freshly instilled in their young brain. Older audiences tend to enjoy characters who are reflective of real people, characters who are morally ambiguous or at the very least are logically fleshed out.
However, adults who cling to black and white heroes and morality in general are essentially overgrown children.
Maybe Jonathan Joestar from Jojo? He feels like Kenshiro
What do you guys think about Hokuto no Ken 2 ?
I've finished first one but I dont know if I should watch second ?
Johnathan is virtually a carbon copy of him.
This show is pretty darn violent for something that aired on t.v.
Japan must have had looser laws back then what with Ken's violence and Lum's occasional nipple slips.
>Kenshiro was TOLD DIRECTLY FROM GOD THAT EVERYTHING HE EVER DID AND EVERYTHING HE EVER WILL DO IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Except that's not at all what happened, unless you just want to be an asshole by blatantly misinterpreting everything in insane ways so that your side suddenly makes sense.
It's not that everything he does is right, rather he learned that the Man of Hokuto must make decisions not based upon his own beliefs or personal interest, rather he must become the god of death and kill only to protect humanity. If he kills out of his own choice or beliefs then he's a failure, if he decides to spare someone out of his own personal belief or choice then he's a failure, rather what he learned is that he must be impartial and do as he was taught as successor and only kill to protect others in times when people are threatened. The point when he learned this lesson was back when he started out, because he didn't want to kill anyone and kept sparing anyone he came across after he thought he taught them a lesson. However this later bit him because those same people he spared that originally slew people without mercy turned out to come back with greater numbers to slay more people in their wickedness, and it was only after many more had died did he realize that he must become death to save the world at large.
It's not "Everything he does is right" rather he must not act out of personal benefit or his own beliefs, or else only regret will ever follow. Even if he must kill his own brother, he must do so if it is the correct choice.
It's shit compared to the first part. Don't bother.
Guts Omae wo mo shindeiru
>What makes fist of the north star so good?
It has one of the best openings in anime history.
It's got some nice moments
Ein, Shachi, Falco, and maybe one other that didn't suck could have easily been worthy of being characters in Hokuto first half.
YOU WA SHOCK!!!!!!
>butchering the original
It has it's moments but it doesn't have as strong a rivalry as Ken vs Raoh.
The focus is more on hand lasers than actual martial arts which is disappointing.
They tried to top Raoh with [/spoiler:lit]his older brother Kaioh, but it just isn't as good.
The animation is better and the art style is much more colorful which is nice.
And the OP is pretty badass.
>not the original
Good post. Not being ironic. Kenshiro is well aware of his duty and burden and duty as designated heir of Hokuto no Ken, which is why he's not a moralfag.
This thread needs more Kung Fu Jesus.
Nigga that's lettuce, not cabbage
>not a moralfag
>hurr muh innocent people
>hurr muh protect women
>hurr muh protect children
>hurr muh honor
>hurr muh justice
I had no idea Masaaki Endoh covered this.
BRING BACK OUR LOVE!
>He doesn't need a nakama, or to learn about the meaning of friendship and love.
Have you even watched the show?
Why is DIO so sexual?
Ken but only because he's unfairly powerful. Guts is still better. I hate you and your stupid question, they would probably team up and be besties
The guy was all about love
Well that's true.
What do you have to say about people who watch SoL mr. Freud?
Ein was a true American hero.
Even /m/ is still arguing about Fist of the North Star.
Ken would definitely try to kill Guts and Guts would probably hate Ken's guts for his do-gooding
Yes, but he didn't need to learn about it. He was always a kind soul who loved openly.
He released two cover albums named enson1&2 a few years back.
What is wrong with a moralfag MC?
It can work really good in his setting.
Ken's powers are almost as bullshit as possible when you really look at half the shit he does.
"Moralfags" are largely one-dimensional. They never stop to think about what they do, to ponder the meanings of right, wrong, good, and evil. They blindly maintain an arbitrary stance, and never display any hesitation in action. By this, they are unrealistic and unengaging, because they are not human.
The only ways to reconcile this tired archetype is to present situations where the moralfag is either proven to be a fanatic, and thusly becomes a villain or goes insane when their feeble perceptions collapse, or is forced to deeply reconsider his/her naive position for a more guarded, perhaps even hostile, stance.
They are single most boring characters there are. Their actions and reactions are completely predictable and unchanging. Nothing about the character develops due to their static moral compass.
They lack depth and believability, and are in every way uninteresting.
Those romaji lyics on the top are way off.
It's like you don't even read the manga. You're probably one of those people who thinks Spike was being seriously when he told that old lady in the convenience store that she was nothing but a casualty.
Whoops, let's try that again.
Ken is anime superman. His powers revolve around pulling shit out of his ass for the sake of the plot and fight scenes.
>"Moralfags" are largely one-dimensional.
Except that's completely wrong. Being a moralfag is difficult. Being bad is easy. The difficulty in being moral is that you HAVE to stop think about what you do instead of just "going". When did /a/ get so edgy
You're a cute shitposter.
I'm not sure whether to call you Akagi2 or Diofag.
The difference is that it's clearly shown that Hokuto either has a technique literally for EVERYTHING, or he just develops it right there on the spot because Hokuto is infinitely versatile.
>or to learn about the meaning of friendship and love.
This anon is right, he already knew the meaning of friendship and love from the moment the show started. He was also already a master in his art so no fucking around.
So just like Superman.
There is no difference.
Either that Akagi guy is back, or someone has been imitating him for some reason lately.
That shit's mostly anime filler anyway. Toei always crammed that shit in.
The movie's where the absolute bullshit is. Ken's basically Goku from the get-go.
Ken would be a moralfag if he let the villains survive like Superman and Batman.
Instead Ken prefers to punch them so hard that their organs explode everywhere.
Reasons why HnK is a good shounen :
- He already has a love interest and wastes zero time on 'misunderstandings' with women
- He comes out of the gate with all of his powers (yeah yeah, except MT). There is no wasted time with shitty training arcs.
- MOST of the fights are interesting due to a quirk, such as Souther's heart being on the wrong side, instead of MY POWER LEVEL IS BIGGER THAN YOUR POWER LEVEL. Everyone knows that no one has a bigger power level than Kenshiro or Raoh already. The gimmicks are important.
- Rei is objectively the best support cast member of all time.
- Of all time.
/a/ hated moralfags and Kenshiro especially as far back as 2007 when they started all of this to begin with, especially the JoJo and Berserk fags.
Also, villains are made to be sympathetic. The viewer is expected to even feel for someone like Souther who is by all accounts utterly evil.
Some people are stronger than Ken or Roah when the fight begins, but Hokuto allows one to continue to grow and adapt. Fudo and Juuza were both able to give Roah a good fight overall as they were on his level, and Kaioh was stronger than Ken at first.
Manga > Anime
That's the real root of the moralfag hypocrisy though. Their actions and decisions simply aren't founded in any reasonable human behavior, and make unbelievable and shitty characters because of it. The only reason they can do it is because they're given lolplot super powers and virtually never feel any repercussions for their actions.
As an example from video games. someone like Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics typically isn't called a moralfag despite the fact he constantly makes decisions that benefit others rather than himself. This is because he constantly struggles and sacrifices to do what he wants. He loses friends, is forced to kill relatives, and gains absolutely no honor or fame for his actions until long long after his death. He's never shown as feeling superior for his "good" choices, he simply does what he wants to do for his own reasons and that's that.
Meanwhile, Delita who pushes for the same goals with completely different means is never really viewed as evil because at the end of the day his "selfish" actions are truly beneficial to the entire kingdom for generations.
Human beings aren't complicated, which is why moralfags are looked down upon, when they're somehow even more shallow than an already simple subject. Evil characters typically avoid the same stigma because the excuse is usually that they're lolinsane
Yeah, I sympathized with most of the villans. Just not Juda. He was really just a big faggot that needed to die.
You forgot about kids growing up and creating army of hokuto. Also Batt sacrificed himself for Ken in the end.
Anybody have any good north star gifs?
Juuza was not even CLOSE to being on Raoh's level. Juuza just specialized in not having a technique and being incredibly inventive. If they both just stood still and punched each other as hard as they could, Juuza would have exploded like a can of chunky salsa.
>He already has a love interest and wastes zero time on 'misunderstandings' with women
Not only him but everyone seems to love Julia.
/a/ has always been the edgiest board you faggot.
I was actually going to marathon it next month. Is the manga that much better? If the color, voice acting and OST all add enough to it I don't mind pacing that's a bit slower than the source material.
Oh just shut the fuck up with moralfag stuff.Nobody cares what you think you god damn retards.
Don't listen to that faglord, watch the damn show. Some of the filler episodes are more than worth it.
Posting caps from Jojo, I'm not sure you're in any position to be talking about fags.
>not using google for your gifs
Asspained moralfaggot detected.
There's a reason this character archetype went out of style or was subverted.
Except that's not true even if you post some out of context caps. Hokuto was pretty well liked back between 05 through 07, or somewhere in there. Kenshiro was even a finalist in Saigar that had some chance of winning. But it was somewhere between 08 and 09 when the crowd suddenly turned against him as a certain movement started spreading. There were seriously some dumb moments that followed for the next few years as Shounen itself was a taboo word of sorts until that eventually cleared.
However the whole "Moralfag" thing died out rather early on in regards to /a/ compared to most boards like /co/ where that term lasted for years onward with it's foolishness. That was a term that disappeared around here for the longest, until someone recently tried to bring it back into style.
They're both great. The manga is better for being more reasonable and easier to plow through.
The anime has hilarious sound effects though and a lot of "filler" that wasn't in the manga, but as far as filler goes, I found it all incredibly on point and plausible in the setting. I liked both, a great deal.
HnK 2 on the other hand, was pretty shitty in my opinion. Timeskip Bat & Lynn shit is just cringeworthy.
Excellent. I wonder how long 152 episodes plus will take.
bara as fuck
Only download the 107 episodes
The second episode is literally just plain bad
Even Roah admitted that Juuza was a man with as much skill as himself, and even if Roah had him entirely in power Juuza still nearly took Roah outright when he got serious if Roah had not just barely blocked one of the early on hits in their second battle.
2nd only to DBZ. Buronson could have continued on with FoTNS. There are a lot of stars in the sky that he hasn't touched that could have made good villains.
Is that fucking Hulk Hogan and Mr. T?
Yeah, but Raoh isn't honestly that skilled. He's all power. Freakishly so.
Toki is the skilled one. I don't think even Ken matched Toki's finite level of technique with Hokuto Shinken.
Ken is stoic to the point of being boring. And the fighting choreography isn't that great nor is the panel layout.
Fist of the Blue Sky has better fight scenes.
I hold the manga above DB/DBZ because Buronson knew when to stop.
As for the anime, HnK2 is almost as bad of an idea as GT. Fist of the Blue Sky prequel stuff isn't bad, but a lot of it is meh.
Thanks, I'll do anime.
Sorry, once I start something I have to finish. If I got through the second half of YYH I'm sure I'll be fine.
Fucking dicks, I always arrive late for HnK threads.
The Dark Tournament wasn't bad though, if only Togashi wasn't a lazy asshole and had finished it properly.
>The second episode is literally just plain bad
What about the very end where he rides off into the distance?
You'll also have to read the manga for the very last bit.
Came in from the wasteland
and walked back out when he was done
This thread almost makes me want to read the manga again. It was a fun manga.
>I found it all incredibly on point and plausible in the setting.
Even that guy wearing the afro wig and 70's glasses necromancing dead people as his army?
See now I don't know if you're making a joke about him not finishing it properly, or just outright ignoring everything post DT. I only say this because you said it wasn't bad, but the DT was literally perfect.
Don't forget, that giant ass motherfucker that Ken kills in the OP is a literal giant monster. Shit doesn't make sense? Blame the nuclear apocalypse.
>You'll also have to read the manga for the very last bit.
Woah woah woah. After I finish the anime I should read the end of the manga?
What does /a/ think of Cyber Blue?
It's made by Tetsuo Hara, the co-author of HnK, and has a very similar art style.
It's basically Hokuto no Guns, and has a lot of swearing.
Yes. And by "the end", I mean "all of the manga".
Anime didn't cover like the last five arcs, but they're pretty short since Ken is now strongest in the world.
I'll consider it.
I'm already hard as a diamond.
He always was.
That's filler though.
Don't forget the 9 foot tall giant mohawked men and that guy who can turn his skin into iron.
There was a time when Toki wasn't ill.
>Just started re-watching HnK from where I left it off a few months ago
Just got past Raoh vs Toki. Much sadness awaits again.
Occasionally I find myself thinking JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is my favourite manga (and possibly anime) but after some thought I always come to the conclusion that nothing will top HnK's OG status.
why was jagi so shit?
Jagi gives me all the feels. Especially the spin-off Jagi Gaiden manga where he just wants to fuck his bitch and be left alone.
Everyone was such a cuntbag to him that he went full retard. Poor Jagi.
It's really Ryuken's fault. His job was to pick ONE child he believed would be the successor to Hokuto Shinken. But instead, he was training FOUR, knowing that only one could be the successor.
And he knew all along that Jagi would not be the successor, but he let him do it anyways. Originally, Ryuken had decided on Raoh and only agreed to train Toki because Raoh demanded that Toki come with him.
Surprisingly to Ryuken, Toki had mad skills, so he was like "FUCK IT, I'LL TRAIN ALL THE KIDS AND THEN THEY CAN FIGHT TO THE DEATH".
I like him. He's an asshole to everyone for no reason. Kinda like a pathetic version of Dio.
He wanted to be respected by people and loved by bitches, but he wasn't good enough to cut it. Hokuto Shinken is ridiculously demanding. Only a total monster could succeed.
If you fail at being the successor to Hokuto Shinken though, your fists are smashed and then you get fingers jammed in your brain to forget all of your martial arts. It was literally the only thing he had going for him; he was stronger than 90% of the planet, but he was complete garbage to Raoh/Ken/Toki and most Nanto elites.
No, you wa mad.
Anon, no offense, you could have summed it all up by having other op look up the ultimate move of HnK, Muso Tensei
Does Bart die or something?
He had friends, but he never learned the meaning of friendship because he already knew what was that.
Kenshiro is a mature MC, specially for shounen manga. Im surprised Shonen Jump published it.
He was based off of Ken. A lot of JoJo's themes were.
So, if I was going to try to introduce this to my friend. Would I use the manga or the anime?
Just when you thought Ken was Bruce Gibson Jesus, Jesus Christ himself makes an appearance.
You know a show is gonna be good when it has kung-fu Jesus.
Did they ever make a spin-off continuity where he wasn't sick?
A lot of the adults in the series were kind of dumb like that. For instant that Juuken guy in Hokuto 2 who created Kaioh as a villain by generally dicking around with him as a kid, telling him to lose fights on purpose because the inferior Hokuto is less than a servant to true Hokuto so he shouldn't outshine his Hyou, trying to kill him that one time, cutting off the path of a hero to him by making sure he knew his place, and then being surprised when those negative emotions came bursting out later on in life. Even Raoh knew Kaioh could have been an actual hero if he didn't keep getting dicked around at just the wrong moment.
It's like the story of the original Hokuto when one mother sacrifices herself so the other son could become the true heir to Hokuto, but since the son who's mother sacrificed herself grew up alone now he ended up becoming a villain due to loneliness and thus created Hokuto Ryuuken. Sure that was supposed to be profound on her part, but as he grew up without her his heart could only yearn, which allowed evil to be created. Even Falco's mother in Hokuto 2 who stopped Falco from killing that one guy in the past, which resulted in easily tens of thousands of slave deaths in the greatest slavery racket of the world.
It's like the good intentions of adults often cause the greatest villains to be created here.
His death scene in the movie is so delightfully gory.
And yet other scenes like Heart's death have that ridiculous filter.
Why was that movie partially censored?
When will this "/a/ hated Ken back then" meme ever end?
Kenshiro has always been loved by /a/ because he is just that much of a badass.
Only a bit, just for a bit.
That's a good question actually.
What would happen to the others if Toki had been chosen to be the sucessor of Hokuto Shinken?
Would Raoh still turn out the way he did?
Would Ken just accept his fate of having his fists sealed?
Would Jagi still go berserk?
yfw Ken and Shin are voice by the same guys who did Mendou Shutaro and Ataru Moroboshi.
>Would Ken just accept his fate of having his fists sealed?
That whole thing seemed rather unfounded. They never sealed Toki's fists and he went around freely practising hokuto shinken for healing purposes. What's the deal there?
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
Does Ken use his magical Jesus powers to bring him back to life?
Raoh still wouldn't accept it, and would have killed Ryuken still anyways. No one would end up with their fists sealed, since Jagi would fuck off. I think Raoh would just trying to conquer earth normally and only end up fighting Toki if they opposed one another. Ken would likely stick with Toki and attempt to fix society.
The real question is whether or not Shin would still got offsides or Jagi leaving would prevent him from getting sweet-talked into bad decisions.
Bats wa die?
Kind of a wired thing to say but I was always surprised by how un rapey this North Star was. I'm guessing because it was a Shonen.
He went from Mel Gibson/Bruce Lee to Sylvester Stallone.
I like his mullet in the later ones, but his soft face from earlier ones made him more endearing and heroic.
>Bart and Lynn see Kenshiro after nearly a decade
>They're grown up and awesome
>Ken looks Bart up and down
>"You have the face of a man now."
>Bart totally breaks down sobbing and hugs him
>So did I
>No I didn't hug my monitor, c'mon
Raoh would be fucked, because even he admits that "Non-sick Toki >> Raoh". Toki was even said to originally be the top pick for successor if not for his sickness that the master found out about.
All three of the brothers would have been worthy successors in their own time, but instead three different perfect candidates were born at the same time and had to fight to the death to prove who was more capable.
"Jagi...damn...what a waste"
The greatest line ever delivered.
>in situations like this
Hahaha, fuck. I don't know what's worse, the fact that this is a frequent occurrence or that she's surprisingly okay with it.
Ryuken was kind of a dick, what with dropping a fucking boulder on Toki's legs.
Rom Stoll from Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos is basically Kenshiro as a cyborg with a giant robot. He even has the faux-mystical martial art and a rapid-punch attack and everything.
Did you forget about the Wolf clan or something? And Juda?
>that one episode where the dude crushes women by hugging them
How horrifying, I'd take rape over that.
That's what caused the rift in the first place. Ryuken comes out and announces Ken is the successor, which means everyone else needs to get in line and have their fists sealed. Raoh says THIS IS BULLSHIT, NOBODY GROUNDS RAOH and storms off. Jagi basically says "Well, fuck Ryuken, you know you're the strongest, right Raoh?"
And Raoh is like "Oh right. I am. Well FUCK RYUKEN" and just busts that nigga in the face. After killing Ryuken, Raoh basically declares himself successor by right of conquest, and because he's the new boss, he doesn't give a fuck about sealing fists, and just declares SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST and proceeds to go around stomping any school that isn't Hokuto.
Ken basically shrugs and decides to go fuck off and live with Yuria.
Rin was better when she was a helpless loli.
I figured the task of sealing fists would eventually fall to Kenshiro then, isn't he supposed to keep the stars in order?
She's still pretty helpless in the second series bro.
(I'm not entirely finished watching it yet but I'm doubting she does anything amazingly heroic)
So I haven't seen this yet (yeah faggot I know)
Manga or anime?
Neither have I. Read the thread, faggot.
If Mamiya didn't have Ken and Rei to take help her she would have been raped every fives seconds.
All she had was those useless little yoyos that rarely even killed guys.
I love the scene where Rei rips her top off and tells her she's weak like a typical woman.
Absolutely. As the successor, he should have sealed all three of their fists on the spot. Kenshiro does fight Jagi (although Jagi provokes it), and punches his face but doesn't kill him or seal his fists. This is clearly a mistake on his part, which came back to bite him later in the ass.
For Raoh, Raoh was basically like "Seal my fists if you can faggot, I'll be waiting as King of the World" and rides off on a horse. So, he was probably going to get around to that.
The hard call is Toki. I don't think Ken would have been willing to do it. But Toki probably would have sealed his own fists and not cared if the other two didn't storm off and be shits.
I don't want spoilers
I didn't want to make my own thread when there was already one
Because of the themes of honor, courage, humanity and willpower are greatly executed. It feels like a legendary fable, plus the fight scenes are brilliantly crafted
You better leave quickly before someone spoils it for you. I recommend the anime. All 110 episodes.
They just asspull that she's the long lost sister of a princess or some shit like that and that her destiny is importand because, why the fuck not. Then Kaioh tries to get some from her but Ken arrives in time to stop him.
I haven't read the final arcs that didn't make it into the anime but at this point I think it's safer to assume she doesn't do much either.
>And Raoh is like "Oh right. I am. Well FUCK RYUKEN" and just busts that nigga in the face.
He lucked out pretty hard there in a way, since Ryuuken was about to finish him off seconds before collapsing due to illness which Raoh took advantage of by stabbing him while he was down. Then Raoh is all like "I've beaten you fair and square now, so be a good sport and tell me the ultimate secrets of Hokuto already".
There was a lot of rape in the manga, mostly offscreen but definitely mentioned.
Mamiya was repeatedly raped by Yuda back in the day, and as was Rei's sister, who was then given to the Wolf clan and gangraped until she went blind.
No one is being a dick about spoilers because the thread isn't filled with shitposting retards because they're in seasonal threads. Just look for the posts.
You could always decide for yourself instead of expecting /a/ to do your thinking for you.
>doesn't need a training arc
>gets the crap kicked out of him by Shin
>nearly dies from his fight from Raoh
>survives by the skin of his teeth from his fight with Kai oh
To be fair, Ryuken totally deserved that shit. Karma.
Original at the time. Interesting fights. Does the setting well and with enough different stuff.
Stop making up shit.
Yuda mentions he couldn't rape Mamiya because she was too beautiful and reminded him of Rei or something, if that makes any sense.
Rei's sister blinded herself. Although it's unlikely she wasn't raped at some point, it's never shown.
Guts is completely outclassed, how the fuck is he meant to fight against someone who can catch and break his sword?
What's your point? Kenshiro may lose fights and get better from it afterwards, but never does he need to undergo a training arc.
>gangraped until she went blind
Now that's some serious rape.
She loses her memory, falls for Bart, but Bart is all "No.. this isn't fair, you still love Ken more than me, so it's not right that you would choose me just because you've forgotten him" so then he blanks her memory a second time. Bart tries to set up her and Ken because he believes she always loved him a lot more, which goes pretty according to plan since Kenshiro's memory was also wiped coincidentally by the ghost of Yuria who is all "Yeah, I don't mind if you find a new girl here, go ahead and try it if you want". Then Bart tries to sacrifice himself for their relationship when some asshole from the past comes back to get back at Ken while he's powerless, so Bart pretends to be Ken and tries to sacrifice himself for their happiness.
Lot of shit goes on there, including Raoh having a son with that one girl from before. I think she's in the newer movies as well retroactively.
>Although it's unlikely she wasn't raped at some point, it's never shown.
She's a woman who was sold to multiple gangs in a post apocaliptic world.
I don't think they asked her to cook sandwiches and do chores.
Well no shit, but that's clearly not the intent of the story to focus on such sordid details.
My point is he doesn't win all of his fights, sometimes he has to get stronger before facing his opponents again.
There's a character with some awful romanizations.
Personally I prefer Sauza, like the tequila.
>Raoh vs Toki
That entire sequence was heart-wrenching.
Do you not understand what a training arc is?
That's not a training arc.
A training arc is "Goku fucks off to King Kai's planet for 10 episodes" or "Goku's doing a shit ton of training on the flight to Namek" or "year's worth of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber" or "Ichigo has to train super fucking hard for 3 days to get his Bankai", etc
If she wasn't raped then why is she so traumatized about Yuda?
Could Kenshiro protect her smile if he went into the world of KLK?
Nobody will ever top the king.
It wont work Toki!
Uh, maybe the fact that he killed her parents in front of her eyes, kidnapped her, enslaved her, branded her and made her part of his harem? You make it sound like everything mentioned above is perfectly fine so long as he doesn't actually rape her.
>Falco gets killed immediately once the Shura arc starts
What a waste.
Ken could singlehandedly defeat everyone in that show.
Shit Ken could probably even defeat Tengen Toppa.
his technique is more broken
THINK OF THIS PUNCH AS MY SPITE TOWARDS YOUR SAD FATE.
A man like him still had tears.
He never goes off to punch a heavy bag for 13 episodes but his fight with Souther, and observing Raohs fight with Toki can be considered training for his final fight with Raoh
>part of his harem
>but no rape
I'm beginning to get tired of these "HnK is teh best anime evah" people.
I mean I like it but come on it's just a simple battle shounen based on mad max and wuxia films. It's like those people who call TTGL or Avatar the best anime ever.
DUDE THAT IS NOT A FUCKING TRAINING ARC
I thought that was a little silly.
They developed a nice friend for ken and then lawl jk he's dead here are some new characters.
Yuda is gay as fuck and he wants a harem more for the ego-stroking than having fuck dolls at his disposition. And he mentions himself he didn't touch Mamiya. Read the manga or shut the fuck up, moron
He never had a training arc against Raoh, Raoh lost because he wasn't the bad guy all along that he needed to be.
So go away and hide the thread.
Heaven forbid there should be a discussion about something that isn't Eva or a currently airing show.
>yfw you realized the whole later half of HnK was the ANTAGONIST training hard to defeat the HERO
>Kenshiro will never be your uncle
Raoh gave his life so Ken and Julia could get a few more good fucks in before she died.
>So go away and hide the thread.
you sound like a KyoAni fan
At least everyone acknowledges that Eva is horribly flawed some people will deny it just to piss you off though.
HnK is as much "teh perfect anime/manga" as One Piece and DB is.
What if Ken was the bad guy?
yeah man, I remember when I was a Japanese kid growing up in the 1980's too
AT LAST SOMEBODY ELSE UNDERSTANDS
FotNS is pretty well-known in the US, even in the 90's. The manga was licensed and translated, the anime and the movie were dubbed and released, and there was that awful live-action film from 1995.
Similarly, Jojo was well-known from the mid-90's on because Part 3 was translated and released, and from the arcade/Dreamcast game.
Series ends with Ken taking Roah's son as a pupil.
He'll be the last person ever to have the Hokuto or any variation thereof and have legions of former accolades of his father and their children as loyal subjects waiting for him to grow.
>Roah jr's face when
I only know HnK from, at most, the past five or six years or so and I found out about it on 4chan. I had watched tons of Shonen before then including DBZ and One Piece and far and away I found HnK to be superior.
The anime in particular I found to have an evocative cinematography that most other Shonen don't even bother with even today.
Not that Anon but.
HNK2 really upped the comedic violence at times
No homo, just fabulous.
He does look like boy george on steroids tho.
>spends like 10 fucking minutes staring at Rei's ass, jaw agape, reminiscing on their backstory and how badly he wants to fuck hi- AW FUCK YOU STABBED YOUR FUCKING HANDS INTO MY SHOULDERS
Yuda lost to Rei because he was too attracted to dat ass.
>dat lack of bulge
Sounds like someone was overcompensating a lot.
>fist of the nose hair
He wasn't homosexual. If I remember correctly he was obsessed with superficiality after realizing that Rei was more beautiful/elegant than him. He was jealous.
I bet you think Kanji is gay.
Haven't even played Persona, sorry dude. Skipped the anime because I hadn't played the game first.
A moralfag is someone that acts like he is the most moral person ever but is a total hypocrite and doesn't even think about the consequences of their actions.
Kenshiro is a just a guy that inexplicably cares about strangers and their well being.
Maybe he just personally wants to live in a world where assholes aren't the ruling force?
Or maybe he wants to see a new age of enlightenment, and every one knows, for thinkers and artists to for their best work, they need to be fully supported and totally safe.
"Morals" only exist so that we can all get along and get a good life filled with as much happiness as possible without taking away the happiness from others.
If you lived on a planet with no other people morality wouldn't even be a concept you knew.
Morality exists as guidelines as to how you should act towards other people, or else we'll force you out of the benefits that being in a society gives, because you're causing us pain and suffering that doesn't let us grow.
And also, don't just do what society tells you to when it comes to morals, examine what you need to be happy from the world and then see how you can make it beneficial to others for them to give you this.
Kenshiro was more of a "I kill because you pissed me off" then a "defender of justice"
I don't think most of you know what "moralfaggotry" means
This, Kenshiro showed no mercy to anyone if he didn't like them. Vash the Stampede is a moralfag, Kenshiro has fucked up morals in actuality.
HnK was more about Greek virtues than morality.
the Hokuto itself was an assassination technique and the series pretty much said that Roah's march to conquer the world with an iron fist was just as an appropriate use of the technique as Kenshiro's personal vendettas
Except they are completely different.
I think the core of the show is Fate or Destiny. Everyone is stuggling but nobody can escape it.
I vividly remember crying manly tears during it's ending.
It just wasn't the same without Rei, man
Where can I read the manga translated? Haven't watched the series since the anime was fansubbed.
>Kenshiro was more of a "I kill because you pissed me off" then a "defender of justice"
Yeah, but he gets pissed off at injustice.
Disagree. Ken killed to prevent more deaths in the future. That was his job as the successor to hokuto shinken. He took no pleasure in it.
Have you forgotten that JoJo protagonists,at least until Giorno, had always tried to avoid killing their enemies?
Josuke only killed the guy who murdered his grandfather.
Joseph sincerely respected most of his enemies.
Most of Jotaro's enemies survived.
Should I even mention Jonathan? He could barely bring himself to try to kill Dio even after all he had done.
mfw Ataru is also Piccolo.
HnK is shit.
Get some fucking taste, OP. I know it makes you e-peen feel bigger to like old shit, but that doesn't make it good.
>Josuke only killed the guy who murdered his grandfather.
No he didn't, he gave him everlasting life as a rock
The guy still had consciousness even as an inanimate object, which made his punishment even more so, and is the reason Josuke greeted the rock on his way to school the next morning.
I remember it, I just consider it equal to death or even worse, so I listed it as killing.
>Should I even mention Jonathan? He could barely bring himself to try to kill Dio even after all he had done.
He tried to kill Dio pretty hard at the castle. He felt sad about it but he knew it had to be done.
After Dio killed his father, went WRYYY on the policemen and was coming towards Jonathan, he still hesitated to shoot at him. It was Speedwagon who fired the revolver.
But he's a total sadic.
All that creative ways to kill, you know.
it's all punishment fits the crime karmic retribution type stuff
Ken at least in the beginning meted out judgement and punishment in a 1:1 fashion to what your sins were, it's what truly marked him as a man of justice
a shame he wasn't very consistent with Souther though
He knew Souther despite his complete monsterous nature still had a bit of love in him, so he was committed to giving him one final moment to die with the one he loved. Hard to say if it was fair, but judgement was passed down on the man that in the end turned out to be hardly more than a child who was broken after killing the one he loved. He could only mourn, yearn, and build a monument to the man who raised him and then foolishly died in such a way. Maybe Ken just wanted to prove something to himself there, since he was fighting for love itself.
This is moments after Jonathan's father asked him to forgive Dio, and when whole series got really bizarre.
In addition to his gentlemen attitude, seemed understandable.
And MORE homo erotic
which episode is that?
You can buy the series on DVD subbed legally by discotek
>Supposedly the movie was censored EVEN in theaters, because it was too gruesome, and/or for artistic visuals.
The Movie tried t gave her a Hope Aura Telephathic kind of shit but it wasnt explored at all, it was just tossed there.
OH, now i know where araki got the idea for the pillar man, but missing the point.
