Sales War 2014
Which studio will emerge with the top selling show from this year?
Some studios that could be in the running:
>Amagi Brilliant Park
>Free 2 (?)
>Mekaku City Actors
>Love Live 2
>No Game No Life
>Sword Art Online 2
>Jojo's Stardust Crusaders
Sunrise, Ufotable and Diomedia.
Only Sunrise, Ufotable, Diomedia and A-1 matter.
Aniplex is growing too powerful. If some miracle could allow shaft to break free from them, all would be right with the world.
>Kagerou Project anime
Thanks for the laugh
>Psycho-Pass not selling
>Kancolle not selling
You're taking the piss m8
I think you forgot DEEN
Isn't this KanColle shit really popular?
Stardust Crusaders is Japans bible, no way it isn't the top selling show of the year unless something comes completely out of left field
1.5 million players popular, yes.
Kagerou project is pretty fucking boring.
Ufotable without a doubt will be at the very top. Fate/Stay Night will be the stop selling anime of 2014.
> Gundam Origin
You still believe in it?
>game with 1.5 million players
>second most doujins in C85
It's like Touhou had an anime at its peak
It's also pretty fucking popular, which is what we're discussing.
Depends on where you get your numbers. Touhou had more circles (includes music and games) but a lot of places say that Kancolle had more doujins.
Because playing a shitty browser game and drawing fanart costs no money. The /a/ circlejerk thinks most of those idiots are going to flock to buy the garbage diomedea is going to churn out.
People played it for the songs, but it was a boring as hell game.
Characters sucked major dicks too, particularly with their interactions. Why is suffering such a major theme now
Touhou has a a convention dedicated completely to it, in addition to the massive numbers they have at Comiket.
What the fuck are you talking about
Mahouka and Kancolle will sell the most.
PP only sold like 9k, that's fucking nothing compared to the other shows.
I agree with >>100343594
By that logic Touhou manga would be the top-sellers in Japan.
I'm saying sure as in I agree, P-P is not really comparable to the rest.
Fate/Stay Night will sell the most, both seasons of Zero together reached nearly 100k box sets sold, and F/SN is popular as fuck in Nippland. Only shows that can possibly counter it are Gundam Origin if it has the same success that SEED had and Mekaku City Actors which is currently the second best-selling LN on the market as of now.
F/SN will sell well regardless of how good or bad it is. SAO 2 and Jojo should be pretty successful to.
Top Selling Light Novels of 2013
*1位 2,006,033部 Sword Art Online
*2位 1,051,305部 Kagerou Days
*3位 *,947,772部 Mahouka
With SHAFT behind something like Kagerou I can only see it selling huge amounts. They'll finally have their third big hit.
Origin will definitely be a hit should it come out. I doubt it will be released in 2014 though.
Shaft is the only studio to ever break 70k discs with two different franchises
>Only shows that can possibly counter it are Gundam Origin if it has the same success that SEED had
>Seriously implying that a remake of the most popular Gundam SEED wouldn't easily beat Fate and has to match up to SEED
Meant to say LN, I'm quite tired. The only reason this shit is popular is because it vaguely resembles some vocaloids and they have some hug hit songs
Your reading comprehension sucks.
He is implying that SHAFT finally has another cash cow, and can stop milking the other two.
No it's because the story is quite good. Do you just like spouting shit or what? I mean I'm used to it on /a/ but just curious if you did anything other than maybe listen to one song. Resembles vocaloids is a stupid as fuck thing to say.
It will finally put all those "apart from Monogatari and Dokes every SHAFT show is a flop" argument. Truth be told I'm surprised that SHAFT is doing Kagerou. Gender balanced/omnipandering shows don't usually seem to be their bag.
Or maybe people like it for the characters. That's why I like it, at least. You're free to project however you like though.
SEED and Zero's sales were a difference of about 10k but one has to remember that it was Zero animated, Fate/Stay Night is already a gargantuan property and Origin most likely will come in 2015 at the earliest.
Wasn't Zero released in a boxset? Shouldn't it be compared to other anime boxsets instead of singles release?
Tomino is a liar anon, he hasn't directed a series in YEARS.
Isn't G-Reko supposed to come out this year as well?
Does anyone really care about how much SHAFT shows sell? I'm glad *monogatari and Madoka sold so well because I thought they deserved the success, but usually I only care about sales if I want to see more of a show.
With SHAFT that doesn't even seem to matter because they'll make multiple seasons of shit that either does meh or completely flops. SZS continued for way longer than I thought it would have, Arakawa somehow got a second season, Maria Holic, and so on.
>inb4 they're just announced for the 35th anniversary but air next year just as Unicorn was announced for the 30th
>Does anyone really care about how much SHAFT shows sell?
Have you ever seen a sales thread?
Kagerou Days a good fit for shaft for a couple reasons:
-Multiple perspectives, so you can show each characters view of the world with SHAFT backgrounds
-Naked sky people
I haven't even heard of any news regarding that project since like 2012.
Nobody would even give a shit about the series if it were not for the songs. Every single characters are one dimensional and comes with similar settings: Somebody they cared died, or they had a shitty life, now they granted powers depending on their previous circumstances but they're still living somewhat shitty lives licking each other wounds.
Origin preview for Spring and it will air for Fall, same as Age back in 2011.
everything Shaft makes goes to Aniplex so theres no point in caring about sales since Shaft is perpetually poor. Unless Shaft makes their own studio anime, then I'll care.
All I want is several trippy OPs using the tunes of Kagerou Days, Imagination Forest, Children Record and Yobanashi Deceive.
Guys, this is bait. Don't fall for it.
>Shintarō Kisaragi is an 18-year old hiki-NEET
>Shintarō's younger sister, Momo Kisaragi, is a popular idol
>Takane Enomoto and Haruka Kokonose, students of Kenjirō Tateyama, plan a class booth for their school's cultural festival.
Yup. I've never seen this before.
Japan, you're too creative. Stop before you hurt yourself.
I just hope Chuu2Ren will sell as much as the first season.
>Origin preview for Spring
It has to come after the last episode of Unicorn which is in June. So probably in the summer also AGE was announced during the summer during June.
If you try to summarize Kagerou it either sounds like harem romcom or you spoil everything.
>Which studio will emerge with the top selling show from this year?
>SEED Destiny HD
>thinking anyone will make as much bank as Sunrise
You should probably add Love Live to that considering how much it sells
So its sell gonna gone shit since Japan don't care about Bible.
1) Write suffering settings and characters
2) Make edgy hit songs
>SEED Destiny HD
Sold like 9k-10k
BD/DVD sales aren't the focus with it.
Don't forget Love Live S2 and Tiger and Bunny The Rising. Horizon S3 never
Oh God, is this cancerous Vocaloid shit. A whole anime with this shitty music?
Nah, they aren't fitting for that. What I think shaft might do is make different OPs for the different perspectives. In the novels, that is Shintarou, Takane, Hibiya, and Azami.
I want a Mary themed ED that can go up in the hall of fame with Renai Circulation and Sweets Parade.
I hate Vocaloid but Kagerou is ok. I'm not in it for the music, I'll say that much. If I want to watch the videos I'll just listen to a Nico chorus version.
>Mary voiced by Kana Hana
They just need to make Akane even more moe and otaku will buy that shit up.
It's mentioned in the link the anon above posted. Either way we'll probably find out if it's still in the running next week at Tomino's press conference.
I want to believe. I wonder whether G-Reko or Origin will come first, and whether G-Reko is still going to be UC or not.
G-Reko isn't even Gundam.
Go away Rikka.
nope, op is children record and ed is summertime record. word of god says so.
insert song is still possible though,
The only reason why it's big is because it's a F2P browser game and that isn't pay to win, which means casual poorfags play it, so the anime will probably sell 6K if its lucky.
Probably G-Reko since Sunrise or rather Bandai doesn't give a shit about Tomino and the storyboards are already underway while we have no idea if they're started in Origins yet.
fantasy forest sung by kanahana
...or kana asumi singing yuukei yesterday, that is fine too
Kamiyan voicing Kano
Miyuki Sawashiro voicing Kido
Natsuki Hanae voicing Shintaro
Kana Hana voicing Ene or Mary
I'll be right for at least one of these
>G-Reko isn't even Gundam
Not by name it isn't.
>Mechadamashii claims is "the new Yoshiyuki Tomino anime set over a 1000 years in the UC timeline's future"
>Tomino said that the "G-Reko" name was chosen in part because "the 'Gundam' name was a total nuisance when trying to develop a new kind of robot story."
I think you're a little mixed up. Children Record is the OP, but Summertime Record is the ending song, as in final song of the series, not the ED.
I don't think it was meant like that. Wasn't the children record single released with the first LN? And summertime record is the "ending" in the sense that it's the last song to get a video(until Jin changed his mind and gave shounen brave one).
Never underestimate the gunota when OYW is involved, let alone a remake.
What if they make Outer Science the ED
What if SHAFT make Suffering: The Animated TV Series?
Kaori Mizuhashi might be Momo because Momo's momos.
Stop, it's not about suffering. Jin is more like Jun Maeda than Gen Urobuchi.
>BD/DVD sales aren't the focus with it.
No one gives a fuck about BF.
Sunrise yet again failed to get kids to give a shit about Gundam.
The mistake of BF is that it reminds people too much of Age
Yes and No
Ene is Kana Asumi and Mary is Kana Hanazawa, as confirmed in Mekakucity Records' crossfade
Shounen Brave has one, it's in Mekakucity V's
Agreed, he may put his creation through hell first, but it's well worth it
Kagerou Project as a whole isn't, but Outer Science kinda is.
>No one gives a fuck about BF.
>both seasons of Zero together reached nearly 100k box sets sold
That's not really much to brag about.
Most anime in the upper 20K to 30s total sales average sell more than 120K anime discs in total.
Kyoani Sunrise and Diomedia.
I have no clue on Kantai but it seems really popular on /a/ and elsewhere.
Love Live will probably sell pretty good.
I'd put Madhouse but the way Mahou Sensou is going doubt they'll be in the top 3.
Keep living in denial.
You're probably an Agetard.
I'm tired of the hype. I just want to see Tomino's glorious return already
You kidding me? Build Fighters is fucking amazing.
>Even bothering to mention IG
Haikyuu is KnB pre-anime level popular m8
Why does OP mention fictional, never gonna be released crap like Girls Work or unannounced crap like Free 2?
Outer Science is actually a song about trolling. The snake has the same sense of humor as a greek god.
Maybe if it wasn't a constant stream of characters telling the viewer to buy Gunpla
>I have no clue on Kantai but it seems really popular on /a/ and elsewhere.
It's not that popular on /a/, most likely because of the lottery-based entry and the fact it's entirely in Japanese, but it's very popular in Japan.
I think you just hate fun.
Don't underestimate the nips love of inserting random biblical stuff into anime.
The Kancolle generals on /a/ are fairly popular, and the /jp/ Kancolle thread is currently the fastest moving thing on that board. Pretty much every thread there reaches 1500-2000 posts before 404. But yeah, it hasn't fully breached the gaijin market and I'm not sure it ever will.
Shaft will have the highest average sales thiy year (there is also Hanamonogatari).
KanColle. Mahouka or Mekaku City Actors will become the best seller this year.
KnB sales don't even qualify it in the top 10 of all time anime sales.
What makes you think some volleyball crap which is viewed more like a feminine sport gonna sell like 50K discs?
Asians only give a shit about ping pong, soccer, baseball, and basketball.
You think your volleyball crap will be number one anime this year?
Speaking of which, that happens in Kagerou Days. Mary is named after the virgin Mary.
You're absolutely right. It'll back fired tremendously.
So, what's the top seller next season? Jojo's, Mekaku, Love Live, Haikyuu or Mahouka?
Fuck, next season is going to be busy for otaku/fujoshi wallets.
The only thing that matters is what is worth watching.
So, Ufotable and David.
Mekakucity Actors is no fujoshi bait man, it's full of OTP
3/4 of the whole cast that is
Mekakaucity is pretty normalfag tier.
High LN sales don't really equal high anime sales.
Same goes for manga to anime sales.
...I didn't call it fujoshi bait. If anything Haikyuu is the fujoshi bait of that season. Mekaku is omnipandering to the max.
Kido is best girl, even if her hoodie design is stupid.
Kagerou Project with all the heteo stuff is fujoshibait now?
Anything that has multiple males and isn't a harem is fujobait apparently, didn't you get the memo?
B-But I like Kido's hoodie.
Some of these aren't even confirmed to be TV anime or even announced that they are going to be animated
Why is OP such a retard?
well they only need the Japanese otaku anyway. And if Arpeggio can sell 12k, Kantai can easily double it up.
But the click wheel is awesome.
>Why is suffering such a major theme now.
How is kagerou omnipandering?
Equal amounts of boys and girls, doesn't focus on fanservice for either side, individual romances instead of the MC having a harem etc.
I screen cap this, and will use it to laugh at kencol hype thread for the laugh.
Arpeggio have a real ship, and have more sense than original kencol characters.
>Ship gun attached to character
Kagerou is fujoshit. Just like Homotora this season. There is no way around it.
>fujoshits as always in deanial claiming their fujoshit is not fujoshit
Humour me, what about Kagerou makes it fujoshit. Please cite from the actual source material(s).
Typical fujoshit denial.
>A-arpeggio sold well because it's good guys, Kancolle had nothing to do with it
Arpeggio boosted Kancolle popularity, not the opposite.
Holy shit, people believe this?
>Arpeggio have a real ship
There's nothing real about the Arpeggio ships.
Third most, actually. Touhou and KnB had more.
>Implying F/SN will win if they adapt HF and ruin Saber's image
>>Love Live 2
>implying new Mai-series won't be a dark again as a top seller and the focal point for Sunrise
IS anyone not really anticipating it's awesome return
What if Sunrise combines the Idols and the Mechas?
I predict A-1 will win with SAO 2, it's not good but I'm certain it'll sell like fucking no bodies business anyway.
I doubt it. The first season already lost to Fate/Zero and Monogatari in 2012, so why would the second season do any better than either of those now?
Sure, SAO S2 will likely get around 35k sales, but it certainly won't be the top seller for the whole year. As for the other upcoming new LN adaptations, I'd be surprised if any of them exceed 25k sales.
Personally, I think the top seller of 2014 will be either Gundam Origins or F/SN.
Eh, good point, I took another look at the figures from 2012 and you're right. Though I actually doubt that it will be F/SN since there's already been an anime of that, unless it's drastically different to the first one I don't think it will sell all that well. Gundam, on the other hand seems to consistently be a pretty good seller so you might have a point.
That's what people said about Basketball and Kuroko no Basuke became one of the top 3 most sold manga in Japan.
Haikyuu!! will most likely be 2-cour given it's production and primetime slot, which means it will be competing directly with Free!
Who will emerge victorious in the Fujowar?
I don't really see any major sales hit in that lineup, I mean REALLY major, apart from SAO 2. Is this already confirmed? If so, my money would be on it.
i agree with you, anon, but it makes money.
Gundam Unicorn will probably sell 150k+.
I can't see the Origin doing as well, unless they go for the same format as Unicorn. But then there's no point because they'll have to condense everything anyway.
Love Live S2 is a guaranteed 20k+ sales, and I guess another Studio 8 series this year (not nice coupling) will get 20k sales.
Mekaku City Actors has the potential to do really well. Hanamonogatari is another 40k sales, with two volumes.
SAO S2, I think it'll sell worse than the first season. Not by much though.
JoJo is going to get at least 20k.
I can't see anything else competing with these.
It's working for me.
>I don't really see any major sales hit in that lineup, I mean REALLY major, apart from SAO 2.
That's because you're either new or really out of touch.
Masterpiece of the century.
is it coming this spring or fall season
SHAFT with Kizumonogatari
>>Sword Art Online 2
What is Macross?
No, it needs to be Love Live: Xenoglassia
>Free 2 (?)
Not announced and probably won't even air in 2014 because KyoAni seems busy with Chuu2Ren, Tamako and Amagi this year.
Even IOSYS jumped ship.
Kancolle will sell like 15-20k I say.
Well they did say see you next summer, Chu2 for Winter, Tamako movie for Spring, Free for Summer and Amagi for Fall.
From rumor mill there supposed to be a 2hr special this spring then full series coming this fall
All i know is that Jojo part 3 will sell like fucking hotcakes.
Provided they don't fuck up, of course.
And then David will get enough money to make Part 4, the best part.
