People who hate good dubs are weaboos.
Too bad there aren't any
believe me i heard people hating on space dandy before they even watched it because it had a dub. quite sad actualy (granted the dub was a 7/10 but seriously; people heard dub and started shitposting)
I appreciate good dubs but that doesn't mean I watch them.
The only good dubs are the kind you just got, the rest are all shit and will always be shit.
No, because gentlemen of truly good taste hate dubs equally, no matter in what language they are.
Would you watch western movies dubbed in German?
People who legitimately enjoy dubs are normalfags and/or illiterate.
If I was German. That and you usually don't have any choice. If it's on TV, it's dubbed in German.
where do you think we are
>thinks reading at an 8th grade level is a mark of distinction.
Dub was a 7/10. Japanese voice acting was an 8. That's all there is to it.
>Don't have any choice
Good enough excuse. We're talking about when you do have a choice, which is always in anime. Actually, often you don't even have a dub, so pure dub elitists are missing out, whereas pure sub elitists can at least access everything.
There are plenty of German people that watch dubs because they don't know any better, or indeed don't have access to the original version. In countries that don't dub all their shit, dubs are generally viewed as being for those that can't read; children and the retarded, and that's how I feel about it as well.
But German voice acting is actually pretty good.
>Would you watch western movies dubbed in German?
actually nothing is more shamefully mainstream than watching subs. i've watched dubs in languages you american kids don't even know about, and on video formats so obscure they don't even have english wikipedia entries. the world has really gone to shit when any kid can download some damn fansubbed anime to their gaming pc, ignorant to true anime traditions
this, how is saying that people who like dubs are illiterate a good argument? How hard do you think reading subs is, or is it just hard on you?
Do we really need to have this thread every day.
I don't like the way the VAs deliver the lines in the SD dub. Meow sounds too much like a "dudebro" teenager, and QT too masculine. Dandy's anger sounds more sincere in tone in the Japanese version.
Dubfags frequently complain that reading subtitles is a pain for them, as if they can't keep up with subtitles and the animation at the same time.
Until you like it.
I watched both.
Dub dandy is not as good, so why would I watch it?
i know only one anime that has it
He's not saying you have to be smart to enjoy subs
It's just that people who like dubs are usually the ones who are lazy or have ADD and don't want to read subs, then they delude themselves in to thinking the dubs have better voice acting (which is never true)
Those are weeaboos trolling.
ur post has bretty gud dubs m8
What about FMA?
There are no superior dubs.
>People who hate X/Y are Z
Fuck off back to youtube, /MAL, and/or leddit and don't come back, faggot.
Dubs are better in some cases though, in my opinion.
>people who say people who hate x/y are z are q
>implying it matters
If you watch anime and can't accept the fact that you're a weeaboo, you're a massive fucking weeaboo nigger. You're either an accepting weeaboo or just a cunt.
faggots bow to your dub lord and savior
I'm sory, but did someone say dubs?
I don't think you know what a weeaboo is.
Sub was shit anyways
ridiculous. don't you know that japanese voice acting is the highest form of dramatics? if you were to first hear some random anime voice track and then one from a bergman film you would literally be unable to tell which one is which. it's fine art, not like those fucking dubs
I don't get it.
People who post tumblr gifs should fuck back off to tumblr.
Is that statement supposed to be inflammatory?
There's a Jorm dub? Christ
this is bait
You can't distinguish languages anon?
FLCL was better dubbed.
People who use 3D reaction images are 99% of the time shitposters and normalfags
prove me wrong
I've got no problem with good dubs (like Ghost Stories). I've got a problem with dubs like Clannad's.
The problem is that the nips tend to overact everything. I mean, anime is more or less cartoons and most cartoons play with exaggeration. But for me, that makes most characters that are supposed to appear "cool" often look a tad faggy.
It's not about the actual quality of the voice acting involved. It's more about how it just sounds wrong, whether that is due to mixing or the lipsynch, but it does.
Also then there's the simple fact that it's not the original anymore, it's a remake. Retelling. Something will always be lost in translation. I also feel that it's very disrespectful towards the original voice actors who worked on the characters.
It's pretty fantastic, it's a little less than Black Lagoon but still really good. Accents are more than welcome and thank God they don't use honorifics.
everywhere BUT in Anime, let me tell you that much.
Not that I care because I was a sub-purist before learning japanese. RAW-Masterrace now.
I do appreciate that you're trolling, but I have to point out that I'm not even american.
but wait anons, if dubs are so bad and is "not the true language and art" then why do you read translatted manga? Checkmate.
Good thing I'm not a casual so I watch things as they air and don't have to worry about shitty dubs
Well I honestly doubt that most anime is on a level of literature where it actually matters if some bits might be lost.
In addition, if you don't speak japanese yourself you will never know for sure if things got changed or not.
How fucking stupid are you? Do I actually need to explain this? Do you think you're clever?
You always watch a production in its original language.
Subtitles are fine, but a major part of any media is the audio, and localization of the audio butchers the source material.
I will never be an advocate of any dub.
because there's no quirks in voice or inflection when writing
>In addition, if you don't speak japanese yourself
It's not about that, it's about wanting to have the original work. Same goes with other mediums, like literature. I always strive to read a book in the language it was originally written in if I can at all understand it.
And I do speak Japanese.
Checklist for every dub thread
>You can't understand Japanese so you don't know they're doing a bad job! I know they're doing a bad job because someone said so!
>You just like the sub because you're a weeaboo who is blind and likes only Japanese things, even if you claim you always watch the original in all forms of media no matter what country it was originally made in!
>Reading takes my focus off the animation because my eyes are damaged in a way that prevents me from seeing the entire TV at once somehow!
>English fits the setting better so you should watch the dub, even though I watch a million American movies set in foreign countries and they speak English the entire time!
>Anime is shit anyway, a bad dub is better because it fits how bad anime is!
If i watch any dub, im quickly reminded im watching cartoons for kids.
Subs trick me into thinking im watching something foreign and crazy that people just dont understand.
Thinly veiled troll thread, fuck off.
>He watches TV
I watch Hollywood movies in English and my first language is Spanish. I'm an anglowoo?
Dubs are shit in general, too much is lost in translation.
Also check 'em.
I don't think it really matters for animation since everything is "dubbed" over the action anyway.
That being said subs usually give a better translation and are often more enjoyable but even a jaded guy like me sometimes appreciates a good dub, especially when I was sort of living on the streets for a year and only had my ipod to watch anime. Dubs are much better if you have a small screen.
There are about three good dub out there, and one of them is a joke dub.
>using weeaboo as a derogatory term
>in fucking /a/ out of all places
my bad, i retract my post.
at last I truly see
Older dubs (80s - 90s) were okay, but nowadays they're all pretty shitty.
And even "okay" dubs are always inferior to the original. No matter whether it's anime, live action film, video games, etc.
I always think the sub sounds more childish. One thing I fucking hate is when a large female character is given the voice of an 8 year old, it sounds so out of place every time.
Literally any post using the word "weeaboo" seriously is a troll
I always knew Linda was a retard.
Because subs are more faithful to the language?
Is ghost stories that improved?
Weeaboo is a derogatory term. Especially on /a/.
The problem is that newfags have forgotten what weeaboo means.
The dub made a 3/10 show a 6/10 comedy
Dubs are nice when I watch something in my bed; I don't have to be glued to the screen to understand what's going on.
I don't watch dubs because mine are the best. Check 'em.
You take that back.
If a word loses its meaning you stop using it.
You have 10 seconds to report this thread
actually im the op and i watch sub all the time. more than dub in fact. Its just that /a is unaccepting of dub even if its a good one. Which is very unfair to the voice actors who actauly try. then you wonder why dubs don't get taken seriously and why they're shit. just saying
> Not learning the language of the media you watch normally
Now I am sure you're an amerifat.
Proofread your posts if you expect anybody to read that shit.
I don't even want to imagine Koko not sounding like Koko.
Please learn to type
People on /a/ have no need for dubs because we aren't casuals, we watch airing shows, and we aren't retarded weebs who need to share things with their anime club
>If a word loses its meaning you stop using it.
No, you don't. You tell people using it the wrong way to lurk the fuck more.
I'm always thankful to my parents for raising me in a dub-free household, I can't even imagine what kind of sick individual could enjoy them.
You know the only time I watched dubs? When I was a child
You know who dubs are made for? Children
Basically everyone who watches dubs is a casual manchild. And everyone who watches dubs doesn't ever seem to care about the actual show. Instead of just talking about the show itself, they need to come make some shitty troll thread about how dubs are superior
It's too late, anon. The word is beyond repair.
It never really meant much to begin with, people have pulling the whole "Everyone is a weeaboo on 4chan" since as far back as I can remember.
These are the only dubs I like.
Fuck off retard
99% of /a/ will hate English Koko because she doesn't sound 13. I liked both her sub and dub voice but her lines were better in English, I can only hear "baka" so many times before it just gets annoying.
dub Koko does aggressive and angry very well. This scene was great
Different dubs provide different aspects to a story or change the presentation of a character (S&W) depending on your understanding of the language and the voice acting and translation.
You can call eng dub-watchers plebs and sub-elitists weeaboos but you're all fucking idiots regardless.
I don't hate good dubs, I just doubt their existence
i really dont kno why im leaving this here... but it pretains to the topic so..
Because you are a retard that can't even write.
> doesnt' write a w, switch r with e
That guy obviously wants to be the Zero Punctuation guy.
Your typical dub endorser, ladies.
Begging the question doesn't work here, faggot.
Again, please, fuck off already.
