Why do so many shows eventually devolve into boring thinly veiled metaphors for facism?
Because fascism is a shitty ideological system and is therefore easy to critique.
Fascism is a fantastic ideological system and you just haven't lived under an enlightened philosopher's rule yet.
Where did you get fascism from? The king doing absolutely nothing? A bunch of incompetents lording it around?
I never noticed Riko before. I don't recall her being there in the manga.
Also, why does Mikasa looks like she hasn't slept for a week?
Plato fuck off
She doesn't look like that in the manga, though, she just looks annoyed. It's just the anime that makes her look sleep-deprived.
>fascism works great if the guy in charge is magically just and selfless and chooses not to abuses his power
wow, that's a really effective system you've got there
Also, this scene had nothing to do with fascism, it was just to show Eren's BDSM fetish
I understood it as just way to visually show how deeply angry she is.
Why does every discussion of this particular show turn into discussing the Anime v. the Manga?
>it was just to show Eren's BDSM fetish
because the anime a shit
But that's a metaphor for bullying not racism.
Because we had high hopes for the anime and everything was going so nicely until they fucked up.
Also, the theory goes that if you're an animeonlyfag, you're also a tumblrfag that buys SnK mint packs and you don't know who Mike and Nanaba are, which makes you the scum of the earth and you should curl up in a ball and die.
The anime is shit, so why not.
I like how the OP pic is 100% post related.
how did you come to this conclusion?
Annie go jew or go home
Isayama just went all rainbows didn't he
I can't stand the anime anymore since the promo art is the worst thing since Hitler. Those fucking bubble heads make me sick to my stomach.
Not him but I've been reading the manga since 2010. The anime is literally a copy pasta with some pacing issues. But if someone I knew choose to watch the anime rather than reading the first 34 chapters of manga I wouldn't have a problem with it. Probably just tell them the small stuff that was changed here and there. But really, you guys are blowing this out of proportion.
japan was cooperative with fascists in WWII, I imagine it comes up more often than say the joy of freedom and burgers because of that historical precedent
They fuck up too many people's characterizations
I'd shit myself over it
WIT did as good as they could with what they had. Now that the franchise is rolling in cash season 2 and onwards will look glamorous
>cooperative with fascists
>not full-blown hyper-fascism complete with god emperor worship, cannibal and plague psychological warfare corps, and elementary school children being prepped for war
A lack of funds wasn't the anime's only problem, though.
Can't wait for chapters 42-49 to be animated. Have a feeling before season 2 airs there will be a shit-ton of OVA's and probably a redo of season 1 in movie format or something.
>a redo of season 1 in movie format or something.
They could remake the final episodes and I'd be content
SnK's a cash cow now man. if there's no SnK movies in the future I would be very very shocked.
And besides redoing season 1 I can't possible think what else they could make a movie out of.
What are the chances that they'll remake the whole Erengelion/FT final fight for the BD release?
hirohito's regime wasn't the same as hitler and mussolini's, ideologically, they were just very similar
>Nevertheless, when Japanese books on fascism first began to appear in 1929, the tone was usually hostile, and even in the 1930s it was difficult for sympathisers to see how the role of the leader, the most obvious feature of European fascist movements, could be made compatible with the position of the emperor. As a result, the label of fascism was not attractive.
>Among political groups only the unimportant Japan Fascism League (Nippon Fascism Remmei ) adopted it formally, and among significant political figures only Nakano Seigo looked openly towards Europe.
What was the other problems anon? With bigger funds they may have been able to add stuff to make the pacing less shit.
I guess they're pretty fucking slim. We're probably stuck with the flaming and berserking.
Because it's by far the easiest to write about.
Happens all the time in the west, too. Look at Star Wars.
the core idea of ethnic purity and close cooperation between government and corporate interests to further the strength of the nation held true though
Because they can stretch out their plot and milk them.
Didn't Isa planned to end this within 20 volumes, and now we're talking double of that?
I remember that thread where the director cringed when he was asked why they made those changes. Well, I hope at least they won't show Levi saving Christa at Utgard or some shit like that for the second season.
>Didn't Isa planned to end this within 20 volumes, and now we're talking double of that?
No conformation on that. Last I heard he was going to end it before chapter 100. And that he has thought about changing how it ends.
I'd fucking flip if that happened.
Also, wasn't Levi out because of his leg for that arc(and apparently still is?)
>and apparently still is?
Really, last I heard there was that screenshot of him saying he can't finish it within 20 volumes, and he'll probably finish it in twice as much(though it was unclear if he meant double of 20, or double what is already out, meaning 12).
Oh, and I thought it was confirmed he changed the Mist ending because of animeonlyfags.
When Mikasa asked at the end of last chapter, he only said that he 'can walk', but I think it's obvious he is still not fully recovered.
I really hope that he will fuck up this mission because of injury, just because of the fujo tears.
This didn't stop him from suddenly showing full equipped with 3DMG and saving Eren just to make the fujos wet.
Levi showed up in Utgardt and saved Eren?
Why don't I remember this?
I fucking hated that. It changes things unlike Eren being on fire; that was just for looks.
Because it didn't happen. He's talking about when he saved him in the last episode of the anime, which did not happen in the manga.
I can't wait for them to poorly schedule, censor, and cut corners on S2.
WIT a shit.
I never heard of this before.
Just another proof that the anime is a fujo milking device.
What could they possibly censor other than the latest Armin-molesting scene? We didn't had anything fujo-upsetting bedsides that.
They'll filter the fuck out of them and cut away to black or some shit.
>What could they possibly censor
For starters, every single death scene. Especially Hannes. And possibly Mike as well.
Japanese fujos get upset at molestation?
Oh yeah, I heard before that they cut out the momeater scene in the anime.
I think that would suck, it takes away a lot of the effect of the story if you just fade to black every time someone dies.
Not sure about them, but our fujos flipped their shit and rained the whole of the internet with triggers, some even on /a/.
>implying Nips give a fuck about our fujos
Tumblr's stance on the issue isn't worth shit to them.
> hey everyone pay attention to me. I'm shitposting.
Fujos are fujos, they all flip their shit over stuff like that.
Let me guess, you're part of the fucking sheep here that thinks kyoani and shaft are top tier animators?
WiT can animate, especially when given the budget. Seen Hal yet? It was fucking gorgeously animated.
It's easy to write when you ran out of ideas
>Oh, and I thought it was confirmed he changed the Mist ending because of animeonlyfags.
He said that, but I think it's a good thing. How stupid would it be to get an everybody-dies-bad-end-Eren-wakes-up-as-a-kid-with-tears-in-his-eyes ending?
All he said was that he changed the everyone-dies part of the ending.
We're still very likely to get a bad-end-Eren-wakes-up-as-a-kid-with-tears-in-his-eyes ending
Why hasn't the pastebin been updated for such a long time?
Should someone make another pastebin and keep it up to date, or is someone still in charge?
What the hell is up with you guys? You don't think he can pull of mind raping ending? Seems like that's where everything is heading.
But it's gone from an incredibly dark, titans-are-mysterious-and-unstoppable-enemies-of-mankind setting to an there-are-conspiracies-controlling-the-titans-and-we-have-leads-on-them setting.
I think it was Araki who said something about something about time(either a time loop or time travel or some shit like that) having something to do with the ending.
Also, >>100324655 also has a point, I'm kind of pisssed about the whole Reiss family conspiracy shit.
I knew from chapter one, the very first sentence, when Eren opened his eyes and he wasn't use to Mikasa's long hair thjat something was up. There was always going to be a lot more going on here then just your standard run of the mill plot.
What did you guys expect? The story was always leading to "where are these things coming from and why are they here.?" The conspiracy shit just intensifies everything. Because there had to be a point where the mysteries of the titan's slowly started to become unraveled. They couldn't just stay mysterious creatures forever. When the titans and their source are revealed the story will have reached it's climax.
And that matters to us why
Of course, they needed to eventually uncover the origins and mystery behind the Titans, but I think I would have been a lot happier if we found that out through BRA's village or MT's faction or something like that.
But the whole 'actually, the key to the mystery is one of us, and the secret was within these walls all along, and some people are in on it' sounds kind of stupid to me.
I think it would have had much more of an impact if everyone was clueless and scared shitless about titans within these walls and the answer lied outside it, with people who are trying to destroy the humanity within these walls.
Because it's fujos and their money that seems to direct where this thing is headed towards now.
You really think they have that much power.
>Levi given extra time
>Levi made extra awesome
>Shitloads of Levi products
>Levi/Eren and Levi/Erwin yaoi voiceovers
>everyone-dies ending changed in order to please 'anime fans' as they would get upset if that happened
S2 is probably gonna be Levi-dominated and shit.
Also expect Levi/Eren bromance which can be easily misinterpreted as homolust.
>S2 is probably gonna be Levi-dominated and shit.
Unless they completely fucking change it, Levi will barely be in S2.
Levi got extra time in the last episode of the anime, and there were extra and changed scenes all around.
Merchandise doesn't change the manga, so I don't see why that matters. Basically, you're complaining about things outside of the source material getting butthurt about the fans. That's really fucking stupid.
As for changing the ending, Isayama decided that based on how popular the entire anime was, it's not just from one character. Mist ending sounded kind of lame anyway, I hope he comes up with something better.
REMINDER THAT HANJI IS GENDER FLUID
REMINDER THAT HANJI IS GENDER FLUID
EAT SHIT /pol/
Reminder that Isayama doesn't give a shit about the delusions of fans and told them to just think what they like.
>noticing tits makes you a /pol/fag
>hating SJW and gender-neutral special snowflakes makes you a /pol/fag
because people aren't comfortable with boring thinkly veiled metaphors for stalinism.
He's pulling an Oda, chill out.
>Why do so many shows eventually devolve into boring thinly veiled metaphors for facism?
Because you're an idiot who likes to look at shows and pretend everything is about facism. instead of just enjoying it like a normal person you have to pretend its "2deep4u"
Honestly I think Hanji would make a great trap.
Who in SnK is genderqueer?
apparently somebody asked Isayama if Hanji was male or female and he refused to answer, probably because it was a really stupid question (though his shitty art does make it slightly ambiguous) and tumblr went all OMIGAWD XE'S JUST LIKE MEEEE!
>Vol. 5 came out before Isayama sent us this instruction, so yes, there are one or two moments in the first run of that volume where Hange is referred to as she. But we’ve removed those for reprint, and there shouldn’t be any gendered references in Vol. 6+.
There goes my desire to buy the manga.
Seriously? Zoe Hange is officially gender-unknown?
The annoing thing is that being played by Romi Park only muddies the water even further.
>Anonymous asked: Hello, I wanted to ask you guys a question about Attack on Titan... Did you confirm the characters' genders with Isayama? For example, did you confirm with him that Hange is a woman? Or was it assumed? And do you usually confirm this kind of stuff with the authors? (sorry if someone has already asked this)
>Isayama has confirmed that… we’re not allowed to confirm Hange’s gender. He has instructed us to avoid gendered pronouns when referring to Hange, or at least to use he AND she with equal frequency.
So. Official support for genderfluidity? Or prank on the fandom like Vaarsuvius in Order of the Stick?
Yes, anime snk is a shit. Manga is a great.
it's a she until proven otherwise
She's obviously a girl but they like fucking up with the fans.
I've read the manga to, but to be fair that manga is fucking ROUGH.
Was it the artists very first manga or something? Their draw style is very unclean and amateurish.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the story but holy shit the first couple dozen chapters are hard to look at.
But this IS baby's first manga, and he has improved greatly from the beginning.
Top is beginning, bottom is more recent chapters.
His art is still abysmal.
jesus christ that's awful
Ono D. and Kamiyan are friends and have starred in multiple shows together for a while.
They even have a radio show together.
However, the popularity of SnK seemed to have Kaji and Kamiyan team up more often in recent and future shows.
reminds me of Hajime no Ippo. Granted these 2 characters and their recent depictions were drawn nearly 30 years apart...
They both have main roles in Noragami this season.
