Half way through the second book of Mahouka, and this is all it's been about:
>Onii-sama can beat anyone.
>I can't use magic that well
>But that's fine, because I'm a ninja, and can cancel out magic
The only part I like so far is the magic system, and even that is heavily under-developed, outside of the CAD system.
Are people actually looking forward to the anime of this?
>Are people actually looking forward to the anime of this?
No, no one is. Everyone here hates the book and hates the idea of an anime adaptation. No one wants to discuss this because we hate it that much.
I love the LN, it fuels my desire to read about overly convoulted magic systems and worlds.
Fuck you, you no taste shitgorger.
It's shit, but it's the kind of shit I can really get
behind. Leave the fine tunning to me!
No seriously, I personally find it ridiculous in a
humorous way (personal opinion, it really is shit)
so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
Also, ninja sensei best girl.
Oh wow careful with that projection.
He's trolling his thread.
I recognize him. Classic pre-air trolling and hate propaganda.
OP here, but...
Judging by the LN, Mahouka is going to have a ridiculous bland and annoyingly OP main character.
SAO wasn't this bad...
It's a guilty pleasure. You know it's shit, but you can't stop yourself from enjoying it for whatever bizarre reason.
You mean Mayumi is the best girl.

I don't think that's it. I've read shittier LNs that were better than this. Fucking Hidan no Aria was a better read than this shit. And that was probably the dumbest thing I've ever read.
>Hidan no Aria
Maybe in bizarro world.
It hasn't even begun. The series gets really ridiculous during the Yokohama Disturbance arc.
I really liked some of the girls, but I ended up dropping it eventually.
Truthfully I hope everyone trolls the shit out of this before it airs so the threads are more peaceful.
Those thread and this thread do match up too well to be a coincidence.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and tell you to just keep reading. The MC has very good reasons to be as hax as he is and why he acts the way he does. His personality is kinda like DtB's Hei with almost similar "front" for a personality. Even if you don't like him still, the magic system and other characters are decent and interesting enough to read for. The LN is pretty heavy on politics, which affects how the story turns out, so if that isn't your cup of tea, then maybe you should just drop it.
It was better because at least it was entertaining in a please kill me way. It had so much fucking stupidity that I looked forward to the bullshit stupidity that the author could pull out of his ass next. But I can't read Mahouka because it's so damn boring.
Most of the trolls I've seen over the past couple of months feels like the ones who trolled Horizon. There's also a couple of trolls who compares and trolls with SAO due to the just the single fact that both MC are overpowered, thus shit this, shit that, shit, shit shit.
Eh, I'll keep reading, but really, why does everything i've read so far have to be so blatant about how badass he's supposed to be? His sister's comments and his apparent disinterest in fighting, despite being a combatant, really annoys me.
I mean, the sequence of events are set up, just to show how OP he is. It's almost like his lacking in magic doesn't even matter.
Anything you find entertaining is good, but anything you find not entertaining is shit? This is how you judge quality? Like it or not, MKnR is objectively better written by far. A lot of the shit in HnA doesn't even make sense, especially the science and physics being applied. You can enjoy HnA as a "masterpiece", but it ain't a better work at all.
The manga, at least, reads like a huge turd. The MC is a boring Gary Stu (awesome "pacifist" with hidden chuuni powers and a dark past, all the bitches gag for his cock). I'd like to say no one cares, but we all know there's plenty of people who'll eat this shit up for the girls. Nobody's really looking forward to it.
There are various perspectives within the series regarding Tatsuya. First is his imouto always sees him with onii-sama vision, so everything is like sparkly and expected unmatched warrior through her eyes. This is the vision that you get the feeling he's being elevated..
The students who becomes their friends are mostly elites from the 100 families, so they're all very strong in their own right. But the existence of the MC surprises most of them and they see him as an enigma and try to figure him out. There's a couple of characters that thinks they're greater than the MC and throws that "I'm stronger than you" look and attitude towards him. One of them being Katsuto, who is a natural the enemy to the MC due to his magic.
The battalion that MC is a part of treats him just like a solider, one who is their trump card. This perspective doesn't attempt to elevate the MC or anything.
Then you have his aunt, who only sees him as a tool that can be used and seemingly disposed of. She knows what the MC has in mind, but isn't afraid of him. She's one of the characters that can kill the MC if she tries. But it's also suggested that the MC is a threat to her. But even for the MC, might be able to down her, but to take on the entire house and allies isn't something he can do. His priority is always his imouto, so doing something that'd put her in serious dangerous is out of the question.
MKnR isn't even well written. The characters are horribly written, most of them have little to no personality to the point that I can't tell one character from another. Not only that, but the dialogue is extremely bland. I've read bland dialogue before, but this takes the cake in terms of blandness. Not only that, but the ruse of Tatsuta being average is just the author trying to bring him down to an understandable level, but then he can pull out 10 tons of bullshit like nothing else. Plus he's boring as hell to read about, with the lack of personality. Yes there's a reason for that I know, but as the character on which the story focuses on, it's a fucking terrible choice as a main character.
There's already a small fanbase here as seen from past MknR threads, so you should speak for yourself.
There's your problem.
It has above average writing. That's more than I can say for most other LNs.
The author doesn't bring the MC down, what the hell are you saying? Him being average as a magician is true only because of how the world defines magician. He doesn't meet the standard to be placed highly and is considered a defect by his own family. The writing makes this very clear and hardly attempts to make him gimp. If anything, it's usually the opposite.
But the MC hardly cares about that. He only commands two magic and that's all he needs to beat most people. This is getting no where when it's all just opinions, but there' s really no point in debating if you can't tell one character from another despite each character having their own unique personality. No one character in the series is the same, they all act, behave, and talk differently. This is a lot more apparent if you read the original language for speech and keigo.
When you guys start talking about the quality of the prose in an LN thread you know it's gone to shit.
Don't think anyone is talking about proses in here, at least not like how /lit would.
Pretty sure the thread was shit to begin with.
I like how the author seems to hold a personal grudge against china. 90% of the bad guys are chinese
This is Japan we are talking about. They all hate the chinks.
Everyone in Japan has a grudge against China.
yes but this is a little overkill. all the major disasters befall china... even in the flashbacks
That's simply every Japanese person's fantasy.
Dude I've never been in a Mahouka thread in my life. I just hate it when retards ask if people are hyped for an anime adaptation of something. I can say with certainty, there has never been an anime adaptation of something that someone wasn't hyped for at one point or another.
I'm glad I am not the only one.
There's also the fact the author keeps trying to hammer that he's average.
>Regrowth - Allows complete recovery of any form of damage/injury. It is not a form of recovery magic; instead, by reverse-reading the records of the Eidos, copying the past information of the target and directly overwriting it, he is able to make the injury "not have existed in the first place".
>Decomposition - Decomposes material into atoms. Has been used by Tatsuya to unarm hundreds of soldiers from their guns at once.
>Material Burst - Decomposes substances into pure energy following E=MC², almost like an atomic bomb. Actually produces more energy than an atomic bomb, as energy is not lost to collisions between electrons and positrons like in annihilation reactions.
>Elite martial artist by world standard. His physical ninja skills are so impressive people thinks they are spells, when they're just his natural parameters.
>Elite class strategist by world standards
>Incredible speed at releasing magic, elite of the elite by world standards. Can essentially eliminate the buffer time completely
>Nearly unlimited magic supply
>Eyes analyze magic, allows him to cancel spells.
>The worlds greatest magic technology engineer
>His crippling flaws are that he's merely "average" in looks and suffers from weakened emotions, making him the cool badass stoic character. He also is bad at baby tier spells, making people discriminate against him.
I'm looking forward to the butthurt and immense amounts of shitposting. That's about it.
The author might as well make him God.
The anime is probably going to suck because there's no way Madhouse can do a decent job at adaptation the LN. This LN is already hard to adapt for a visual medium like anime, so, yeah.
I'll still watch it though.
Same director as Horizon so it shouldn't be too bad.
Completely different staff though.
>I can say with certainty, there has never been an anime adaptation of something that someone wasn't hyped for at one point or another.
If you weren't autistic, you'd realize the OP wasn't literally asking if there was anybody at all that was hyped for it.
Considering the negativity of the OP, it's pretty obvious that "Are people actually looking forward to this" is essentially the same thing as "Why on Earth are people looking forward to this?" Not every statement should be taking at face value.
Now debating whether to pick this up for best girl or not.
She's going to get plowed by a 7 foot gorilla.
don't, no one other than miyuki can win the mahouka because of MC being cockblocked by its lack of emotions
>I'm a ninja, and can cancel out magic
So he's like Batman and Touma?
More likely than you think.
Cyborg Batman + Touma
I can give some reasons why I enjoy the series, but I'm sure like most anons, it's for the girls. As one, I'm reading and going to watch for mai waifu Shizuku. I have no illusions about this.
Actually one of 7 sages calls him god of destruction and is well established he can erase entire continents with his powers partially sealed, actually MC powers is heavily sealed with several layers of seals to stop him from blowing up the world, his imouto uses half of her power just to suppress MC raw power, seems like just leting MC emmiting his magical energy would be enough to cause disasters.
add nuclear he is a human nuke
I'm only watching because of Shizuku her otouto the shota and I have the weirdest bonder for ice powers.
I'm keeping up with the novels just to see if at a certain point Mc will ever try to look for a way to restore his emotions or to upgrade his articicial magic processor t ovbe able to perform more complex magic.
I mean, it's vexing seeing how he can decipher most secret magic sequences but cannot replicate them because of its limited capabilities
Who doesn't hold a personal grudge against china?
Hell even the chinaman is probably hate their own country.
Hey kid, you're gonna /ss/
>I can beat anyone, cancel all magic and regenerate all damage
>And I'm a genius scientist too
What's the fucking point?
It's like a series about Superman beating up poor mexican gangs.
I very very rarely use the title of Gary Stu but he is an honest to god genuine Gary Stu. A terrible character.
Nips love Gary Stu characters for some reason.
>Superman beating up poor mexican gangs.
I'd watch it. Sounds a lot better than Man of Steel.
He can't beat everyone though. Plus, We don't know about the other 50 or so strategic magicians that are on his level either.
/co/ pls, you know Man of Steel was good.
I would have thought that /co/ would have loved that pile of shit.
>You mean Mayumi is the best girl.
Not only is she best girl, the series up to current is subtly raising her flags.
That said, the series is at most 1/3 done. It's supposed to at least cover the full three years of high school.
It's pretty split, to be honest just like everywhere else. It was a mediocre film at best.
So, what. 36-40 volumes when complete? Damn
Author better have something up his sleeve to keep it interesting for that long.
>So, what. 36-40 volumes when complete? Damn
>Author better have something up his sleeve to keep it interesting for that long.
There's *at least* one conspiracy afoot in the current book, and it wouldn't be far fetched to say that several of the other sages are pulling strings. Plus there's the matter of what mystery faction made that spy system and gave it to them. Plus there are the remaining great challenges of magic that are being picked away at, like automated gravity-magic-assisted nuclear fusion reactors. There's the competition between the top Houses, and also between those lower Houses trying to move up. There's the inevitable showdown between the siblings and their aunt, and all of the aunt's plans in the meantime to break them up.
And even with the dry-as-fuck translation work in the last couple books (not to diss it, I appreciate that it's being translated at all), it looks like Tatsuya's starting to grow some emotions.
