ITT: Shit villains who are clearly written just for the MC to look good when he beats them up
A reminder that most LN villains are shit because most LNs are ultimately a wish-fulfillment medium for otakus.
Almost every villain in Fairy Tail.
>that feel when all LNs that have MMORPGs in it are shit
Prepare your anus for more anime adaptations of those. I already knew one that is as bad, if not worse, than SAO.
>The new light novels are aimed at men in their 30s and 40s and tell stories of adulthood dreams for those who grew up as otaku.
Apparently, adulthood dreams are just like childhood dreams, only with sexy girls in it.
He wasn't shit. We got lick out of it.
And the answer you're looking for is "almost every one, ever." Even novels and movies usually can't write a villain. Which is a shame, because they're the most fun type of character to write. A good antagonist makes or breaks the story.
Deep inside their heart adults want to be child again. Only edgy teens that hate that kind of feeling.
She is one of my favourites.
Can I just post a good villain instead?
This. I'm only 20 and I want to be 16 again.
The thread topic is Villains.
But in this arc Gon-san is more evil than him.
He's written for the main Antagonist to look good, not for the MC.
Gon had every right to be as angry as he was. Meruem's still an antagonist because he's in direct conflict with the protagonists. Not that Meruem belonged in the thread anyway since he's not a shit villain.
Isn't that just anime in general though, hell most entertainment?
Oh god Shinji fits this so perfectly it's annoying, especially that one scene where Tohsaka goes to his house and the conversation ends up like this.
"Even though you've trained for years, you just don't have any talent."
"Emiya, this guy who rarely managed to strengthen shit less than two weeks ago has more talent than you"
that pretty much shonen in a nutshell. Only one I can think of who deviated from that was Busou Renkin
"For otaku" confers a certain type of wish fulfilment. How effective do you think a wish fulfilment would be if the viewer has never played a video game and the gary stu MC was kirito? That if the MC gets women despite being creepy and antisocial when the viewer has no problems with it?
Hunter x Hunter
Crocodile, Buggy, Enel, etc. are cool villains who all have unique characteristics that make them fan favorites.
Buggy is the best example of how funny Oda can make anagonists
Crocodile is his best evil/cunning villain. Even after his defeat at the hands of Luffy he's still cool and smug as fuck and almost never loses his composure (at least not in a bad way).
>29 year old is reborn into the son of a noble family
That's fucking stupid, even though the MC is older in age than usual, you know he's going to look and act like a teenage kid still.
Sure, adults may sometimes want to relive their childhood days but that doesn't have to include romancing several underage girls. How about LNs like Kino where it fulfills the wishes of traveling to new lands and seeing new cultures, eating new foods, meeting different people, etc.
I'm not saying romance in LNs are a bad thing but it's often not done in a mature or realistic way and the plot could get too involved with it.
