/a/

Why did everyone hate this so much? Is it just "cool" to hate on it now?
>>
It's popular outside of /a/.
>>
No, it's because it's a sack of shit.

There's no character development, it has a lot of retarded plot twists, the story takes terrible turns which kill any interesting atmosphere that it may have, and Eren is the worst protagonist in recent memory.
>>
>>100273749
Pretty much this. The creator had a cool concept and lots of neat ideas, but they all amounted to nothing. Plus, they decided to make it a huge shonen thing where they spend 30 chapters building up one plot twist that doesn't go anywhere.
>>
>>100273498
Most people loved it, it's one of the most popular anime ever.

The "hardcore" weeaboos like to say popular animes are shit to give themselves some sense of self importance.
>>
Saw that it was on Netflix and just started watching it this afternoon.

Annies Titan form gives me a scarection.
I assume that's normal.

Pretty much. You see this happen all the time. A show will air and at first /a/ will be all over it's dick. But then, as time goes by and the show gets super popular everyone has to shit on it to show how superior their tastes are. Like, "oh, that show everyone loves? Yeah, it's total shit. Now tell me how sophisticated and counterculture I am."

SnK is only the latest anime this has happened to. It was the same pattern with shows like Gurren Lagann, Code Geass and Madoka.
>>
>>100273498
popular shows bring the worst fans but hating something because is popular is objectively retarded
>>
here's my fair and balanced opinion on the matter: it's ok. it started out really good, strong concept, and then went on to be maybe not so good. i hope everyone enjoyed this post.

lel
>>
>>100274700
yes but, is that enough reason to hate it?
>>
>>100273498
/a/ loved it until it got popular, then /a/ started hating it because everyone else likes it.

That is the cycle of /a/.

Happens with pretty much every popular series ever and it's the reason why the only shows that /a/ consistently loves are niche moeshit that only the most hardcore pedophile otaku could care about.
>>
>>100274700
I agree, but the shitty writing can only be blamed on the source material. The anime at least made the best part of the story really fucking exciting.

It's had threads on /a/ almost every day for months. Do you want unanimous praise from literally everyone?
>>
>>100273498
Listen. Nobody "hates it because it's cool"

Theres 5 kinds of people specific to /a/ when it comes to SnK
1.) People that like / love it / AOTY tier for them
2.) People that dislike / hate it / WATY tier for them
3.) People who haven't seen it at all, and simply come into threads to shitpost
4.) People who - when they see a thread swaying one way or the other, always take the side of the people they believe are "losing" argument wise in the thread simply to troll e.g. If people are circlejerking love for it, they'll come in and shitpost saying it's horrible, if there's people already in the thread however, saying its bad, they'll come in and try to defend it.
And lastly 5.) People who either A. Ignore all threads and discussion and watch it independent of /a/ and/or any other forums discussing it and B. People who're disgusted with the fangasming / autism / retardation, and wait until it's over before posting about it / watching it out of shame of being associated with the initial autism fest that occurs when places like MAL or TUMBLR find out about /a/'s flavor of the month.

I hope that clears things up. Now fuck off.

Samefagging detected. Posts discarded. Also I doubt you've even seen it. Knowing the MC's name is not convincing enough. You seem like the type of person who shitposts without even having seen the anime OP is discussing. /a/ is notorious for it and you fit all the perfect descriptions of someone who simply likes to "tell people their tastes are shit"

you guys are slightly off
the show starts off popular because its beginning is good and shows potential, then when it goes downhill the original fans get a sour taste in their mouth and try to forget, but new viewers start watching it because other people said it was good.
They start talking about how its the greatest show ever which is annoying to the original fans because of the broken promises the shows good start made. this causes their distaste to turn to hate so they start shitting on it.
second generation fans then reach the point where the series goes sour and repeat the process first gen fans went through.
this is my gross oversimplification of how shows go from popular to hated as they gain popularity.

I dropped the anime because the pacing was terrible and the "dramatic" scenes were directed poorly. I'm sure everyone else who read the manga and dropped the anime did so because it failed to meet their expectations, not to be cool or whatever you faggots with shit taste try to make it out to be.

Still keep up with the manga because it's not so much of a time investment, though.
>>
>>100275118
but that happens with everything popular so yes the reason why is hated is because is popular
>>
>>100274742
No but the shit direction and shaky stills sure are.

> anon posts valid criticism
> I'll ignore it and call him a samefag

Modern day /a/, people.
>>
>>100275163
That's not what those words mean. So no, you're wrong.
>>
the concept of people fighting against gigants who were destroying the humanity with only the weapons they used at first was cool, after everyone turned out to be gigants went to complete shit imo i think that's when i dropped it
>>
>>100273498
I think it's ok. Not very good, but very entertaining.
>>
>>100275330
Yeah, I actually really liked SnK before the whole Titan shifting thing happened. I tried to give it a chance after that telling myself it's modern shounen, it needed something like this but the setting is cool and some of the side characters are interesting. Then little by little I just could not put up with its shit anymore and dropped the series.
>>
>>100274844
This. There are daily SnK manga threads. Hell, there's one right now.

I guess those pass under the radar for people coming here fresh from the anime.
>>
>>100274635
But anon, /a/ loves TTGL
>>
>>100273532

Nah. There's already a lot of hate everywhere, not just here.
>>
>>100275234
>Posts discarded.
He's clearly from /v/, you fucking retard.
