So who is ready for the new Sailor Moon series thats coming out in July?
>tfw it ain't gonna happen
then alot of fans are going to be pissed since they already confirmed a worldwide july release on the official sailor moon website
Since Toei actually said something this time I'll believe it but I can't shake the feeling my soul will be crushed. I'm still nervous about the lack of promotional art.
Is this new? She already lookd awkwardly different there.
true for a starter anime that brought in alot of kids in the 90s, they sure seems to be underpromoting it
It's unofficial fanart. The only official art is the 20th Anniversary Logo.
and the english one
should I rewatch the series before or is it going to be entirely separate, what is known about it and why are you excited?
>what is known about it
They will faithfully adapt the source material this time.
>why are you excited?
Nostalgia factor, waifu.
Jupiter is the only way to go.
Ready to be disappointed. There's no way it will be any better than the best parts of the original series.
I thought it had been whittled down to just a special latter this season.
To think it's going to be about their daughters...
>20th Anniversary Logo
So, the only official art for this is 5 years old? Yeah, it's not happening.
Toei announced it a couple days ago.
I'm ready for another 6 month delay.
I'd watch an anime about them, and Sailor Quartet, too, even though I dislike Chibiusa.
There are a shit ton of Sailor Senshi but we hardly know much about any of them except Usagi.
>They will faithfully adapt the source material this time.
Actually this is bullshit, they never said that.
All we know is that it's going to be a separate adaptation from scratch, no sequel, no old formula, no old character alterations, they're just going to look at the manga and go "How can we make our own anime based on that". How faithful it's gonna be is up in the air. PGSM back in 2004 took quite a number of creative freedoms and that was already after PNP was established.
>Jupiter is the only way to go.
You're waifu a slut.
You're waifu is a slut with most annoying pink shit
No but you should be ashamed your waifu has shit taste.
My waifu can have whoever she wants, especially since she's into girls unlike Jupiter who has a crush on every boy
And they also confirmed it for a July release in 2013.
Then a winter 2013 release. Then a Janurary 2014 release. They've "confirmed" a lot of release dates.
Sailormoon is literally the Call of Duty of the East.
That "Around January" came from NYCC from a Kodansha rep. For all we know he could have not been in the know. This is the first actual "This is when it airs" statement we've got from the studio. And the staff they revealed haven't worked on anything else for over a year. You can idly entertain anons with the "lol kizu never" shitposts but really, what's the point. It either happens or it doesn't.
U w0t m8?
A winter release is never going to happen since Precure always starts in winter. In fact, I wouldn't expect any info until the New Stage movie airs in March.
What the ra-ri-ru-re-ro did you just say about me, ara ara? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my kurasu in chuunibyou, and I’ve been winkingly oblivious to numerous secret raids on my pantsu, and I have over 300 confirmed fanboy nosebleeds. I am trained in cosplay fanservice and I’m the most popular character on the entire show. You are nothing to me but just another baka hentai. I will wipe you the uguu out with fanservice the likes of which has never been seen before in this time slot, mark my ra-ri-ru-re-ro words. You think you can get away with being that ecchi to me over the Internet? Think again, baka. As we speak I am contacting my himitsu network of spies across the classroom and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, aho. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your social life. You’re going to die of embarrassment, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can humiliate you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s before my transformation sequence. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the writers' zany plot devices and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable smirk off the face of the continent, you pervert. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have kept quiet, ara ara. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you triple baka. I will unleash moe all over you and you will drown in it. You’re going to sleep, kiddo. (Please don't actually go to sleep on me.)
Precure has got nothing to do with this. There's no toys accompanying the show and it's web-only so they can do whatever they want whenever the want.
>no toys accompanying the show
>Sailor motherfucking Moon
Also, no matter what the format is, it's the same genre and it's aimed at the same audience, little girls and old otakus, so you do not want to release them at the same time.
Happy when did you become blonde?
You heard me. There's merchandise, but it's freeform stuff aimed at collectors, like S.H. Figuarts and themed cosmetics.
> it's the same genre and it's aimed at the same audience, little girls and old otakus
Except not really, it's aimed at nostalgiafags around the world. A direct adaptation of the manga would be incredibly grotesque and dark at times, a very stark contrast to things that even 90s BSSM would have a hard time getting away with. Think the difference between Cutie Honey Flash (toyetic show for kids) and New Cutie Honey (dark and erotic series for collectors)
>so you do not want to release them at the same time.
And even then there's two boy shows running at the same time at all times and they coexist just fine.
If this anime will be more faithful to the original manga, then the first Sailor Moon's suit must look like this.
That's how it always looks minus the mask?
Actually I'd love them to bring back the OG masks that Takeuchi ditched right away.
Oh, sure, there's only collector items, nothing like all sorts of wands and the makeup boxes for little girls. Nope, nothing like that.
>Except not really
Except yes, really. I don't know why are you assuming all that when the only info we have is that the director is the same guy who directed One Piece and Suite Precure, which totally points towards a kids show.
>running at the same time
The problem is to launch new stuff. You do not want to split your fanbase when a new show is starting.
> I don't know why are you assuming all that when the only info we have is that the director is the same guy who directed One Piece and Suite Precure, which totally points towards a kids show.
Except they keep tweeting and pointing in interviews how they aren't making another Precure so all you have to go is "They did precure before! It's gonna be totally like Precure!"
What about the writer who wrote Garo which is a 16+ series?
> You do not want to split your fanbase when a new show is starting
What little girls are going to watch Nico-only show?
Minus the mask, minus clips in hair, with a different brooch and bracelet around neck + other minor details.
I didn't say it's gonna be the same, I say considering the cast it'll be family friendly.
> writer who wrote Garo
If anything that points towards more Precure...
>What little girls are going to watch Nico-only show?
It's the year 2014 already, so probably a lot.
So Serenity will finally have silver hair?
>If anything that points towards more Precure...
So you have no idea what Garo is like and you have no idea about Nico audience. Thanks for showing how ignorant you are, now please stop embarrassing yourself.
> A direct adaptation of the manga would be incredibly grotesque and dark at times
People greatly exaggerate the maturity of the manga compared to the anime. It only gets away with half the stuff it does because:
a) The artstyle is so sketchy that any gore looks ambiguous and weird.
b) The characters are mostly introduced, left undeveloped and then unceremoniously killed off without letting the reader get to know them, so any death that occurs lacks the impact and meaning it would have had it occurred in the anime.
The anime has more mature story elements to it overall because it gets to develop themes and characters that the manga lacks. It would have been awesome if the anime had random civilians and side characters burst into flame and killed off at will, but I'll take Nephrite's death sequence over that any day.
>what Garo is like
It's like an edgy Kamen Rider. It's still a kids show.
>you have no idea about Nico audience
Sure, I don't know about the super nerd core audience, but I know that kids do have access to the internet.
I'm not. I want to get around to watching the original series, but all releases for it look horrible. They're oversaturated and all background detail is lost.
>It's like an edgy Kamen Rider. It's still a kids show.
I didn't know you could show naked women in a kids show
The kids will love it.
It's not about thematical maturity though, but it's pretty retarded to imply that just because one installment in the franchise was a toyetic children show everything else in this franchise will also be that even though even Toei has a history of doing experimental stuff.
all signs point to it being precure but NOT... it will be a disappointment for anyone who watched the original series.
this is toei. have you seen all the new SM merchandise being sold before this airs?
Why? The original was a kids show too.
And none of this merch is actually based on the new show.
Another example of Toei doing something for collectors is Akibaranger. Self-parody, aired at night, designed to sell Figuarts. Done by exactly the same staff that does the kids shows. Sounds similar, eh? Save the self-parody part.
What signs? The farts of your ass? Because it sounds like you people just love talking out of it without anything to back it up.
>tfw cramming everything into 26 episodes
You leave my ass signs out of this.
Who's the cutest sailor?
No problem, as manga is just 52 chapters long.
Hotaru, of course.
But I'm not implying that at all. Rather, I'm saying that the old anime was no less dark, just less bloody overall. I'd love more then anything for the new series to be less formulaic and to take more risks, but the manga was weak in it's own ways so that the mature elements it did have weren't overall more adult in comparison.
The musicals beat everything in terms of fucked up shit though. You aren't going to have torture through forced impregnation and mass baby killing in anything else.
Only a few months before this airs we will all know whose right about this soon enough.
Given toei's track record do you honestly think this will be anything but a carefully planned franchise reboot that takes any risks? It might follow the manga closer but it being shown on novo first just screams testing the waters and being careful to not hurt their cashcow Precure.
>Given toei's track record do you honestly think this will be anything but a carefully planned franchise reboot that takes any risks?
Making a Nicovideo-original anime is already a huge risk in itself after which all bets are off. I cannot stress enough how the lack of a conventional TV broadcasting completely desubstantivises any speculation we could possibly make.
We have no idea if it's getting a TV slot at the same time or not. I really doubt Toei would have something as huge as a new SM anime series be so limited in its release.
>They will faithfully adapt the source material this time.
So no Saturn, Pluto, and Michiru?
It's by Shinya Hasegawa. He animated episodes for the first four seasons.
I want to rape her and show her the wonders of heterosexuality.
What the hell?
Maybe they'll actually make Usagi useful now in the vein of precure.Though more importantly I hope they balance out the screentime characters get. That was one of my major complaints about the series in general...and Chibiusa but hopefully she won't be showing up for awhile if they decide to do this new series.
Is 2wei going to air in July as well? I want them to air side by side.
It's is possible, but it's not yet confirmed.
I personally wouldn't mind if Sailor Moon became more similar to PreCure by turning into a never ending franchise, but if it's reduced to a 30-minute toy commercial I would understand the inevitable frustrations some fans will feel. I like toy commercials but I want more from Sailor Moon.
Sexiest final boss too.
Made me crack a smile, but not laugh
As fun as this series might be, all it means to me is that Togashi will be able to survive for longer without continuing Hunter x Hunter, since his wife will be getting Sailor Moon royalties. And that's just awful.
Not really related to the thread, but what model Porsche did Takeuchi own? Her Ferrari was an F512 M, right?
>Her Ferrari was an F512 M, right?
But the hime was already filthy rich.
They were both well off. Neither of them have worked in a long fucking time. Togashi hasn't written a chapter for Hunter x Hunter in two years. I'd imagine she's doing a new Sailor Moon series because money has got to come from somewhere.
>Togashi hasn't written a chapter for Hunter x Hunter in two years
This is depressing. Why doesn't he just finish it so you guys can go on with your lives?
Good question. My theory is that he doesn't want to finish it because it's a consistent form of cash flow. whenever he needs the money. It has an anime, but that'll be ending this year (since it's going to run out of material without him making more). Checking AniDB, the last thing his wife was a part of ended in 1997. So aside from figure and media sales, she hasn't had a new thing to her name (apparently she did a 2 volume manga in 2005 and a three chapter in 2002) for the better part of 20 years, which means they've been living off that nested away income and what Togashi made off Yu Yu Hakusho for a pretty long time, as well as what he gets whenever he decides to work on Hunter x Hunter. If he were to end it, then he'd have to make a new series, and he's probably aware of how big of a commitment that is, since going on year long hiatus every other year wont work for a new series, even if he has a cult following. So instead we get strung along for years at a time (Pic related. It's still on the hiatus from 2012.)
Because of that, I'm pretty confident that a new Sailor Moon series is definitely going to happen at some point, she just might be taking her time with it to make sure she does it justice. Sailor Moon fans can probably find Togashi's laziness as somewhat of a blessing, since I doubt it would be happening without that.
MFW I immediately recognized the first gen MechaGodzilla. Second gen is best MechaGodzilla.
Dropped. Dropped so hard.
I don't follow HxH so this is news to me. It's interesting how HxH went on hiatus the same year the new SM anime was announced and Toei-Bandai and Kodansha began to release a ton of new SM merchandise.
