I've promised myself that I would never go to another anime con since 2011 and now I'm having second thoughts about going to one again this year. I've wasted so much money and effort over the last 7 years on preparing for conventions and dealing with horrible people to have any fun at them the older I became that I just stopped bothering for the last 3 years.

I'm usually on /a/ more often than I watch anime anymore nowadays (which isn't even that many times a week), but does anyone here think going to a con again is a good idea? Should I go to something big like Sakura-Con or keep it low-key?
Anyone have good con stories? I actually like /a/ so that's why I'm asking for advice here.
