So why can /a/ claim that KlK is shit because it's a parody but rejects the same argument applied to Dandy. This is in spite of the fact that Dandy goes as far to break the fourth wall to announce it's a parody while there is actually no evidence that KlK is one too. Thoughts?
Are you fucking retarded? /a/ blindly hates on Space Dandy ten times as hard as they do for KlK. Also Dandy has a grand total of 2 episodes, intelligent people are holding off on that strong of judgement until it really establishes what it wants to be.
What is KLK parodying?
What is Space Dandy Parodying?
Those are the answers you want.
>Are you fucking retarded? /a/ blindly hates on Space Dandy ten times as hard as they do for KlK.
That's my point retard
You mistyped then. Read your original post and try harder next time.
In a way yes
That literally is not what you typed at all moron
No I didn't. What I implied is if you call KlK shit you'll get "hurr it's a parody of anime" while Dandy just gets "it's shit" despite being more of a parody than klK
Fine change "is" shit to "isn't" and that's my meaning
Not all parodies have to break the fourth wall.
Also, KLK isn't so much parody as it is just super-camp. The line between camp and comedy can be blurry, but camp isn't about telling jokes; it's about telling a story with no restrictions on how silly it allows itself to get.
People (or at least straight people - actually who am I kidding, it's 90% of all queer ones under about 25 too) don't understand or appreciate camp in entertainment like they used to, unless it's in the super-obvious WELCOME TO HAM WORLD way of stuff like TTGL. And sometimes not even then.
Humor and references is not the same thing as parody.
Excel Saga was a true parody.
KLK and Dandy have humor and references, but they are not parodies.
Commie's out, time to experience her in all her Kuwashima glory.
Because no one insults Dandy in a way that can be argued against by saying that it's a parody.
This. KlK is camp/hyperbole. It parodies sometimes, and sometimes it is straight genre.
