848x480 23.98fps, AAC 48000Hz stereo, 37min in a 87Mb mkv container.
I fucking love h264.
So like, why isn't all animu crunched up this small?
If it can be done, it should be standard now.
X_X has managed to do something awesome with this filesize and yet typos are everywhere.
Because anything below 1280x720 is unwatchable.
true, but excused for compressing skills
Even at 1280x720, the file should be smaller than the 170-230mb that is the norm currently.
Clearly a typo.
delicious Chiyo-chan with kansai accent
OM NOM NOM N-CRUNCH!
Because people can't get used to the idea of "HQ" encodes that are smaller than low quality xvid encodes.
Also possibly because they don't have the patience or the hardware to do such intensive encodes on a regular basis.
Or they just suck.
I downloaded this yesterday. Resolution sucks too much, I can't watch it.
Yeah, most encoders just fucking suck.
So, anyway, given how fucking awesome H264 is everyone still using XviD and .avi containers needs to pull the cock out of their mouth and buy a computer that wasn't made in '95
They're just fags that want to burn stuff to DVD so that they can watch it on their DVD players.
The concept of a TV-out cable is totally lost on them.
yeah, judging from the OP it's pretty horrible
I almost can't see the video with all that artefacts and pixels, my God it's so blurred my eyes bleed
I fucking bought a VGA monitor cable of 25m long (no idea how much that shit is in inches)
Away with Xvid!
Dude, you're hella exaggerating there.
I have an old intel celeron 2800Mhz. It can play 720p @ 25fps. Anything higher res is too sluggish.
Need to give the encoders time to adjust with the 'new' codec... I notice some vids play crap, no matter what, compared to others, even at the same resolution
tl;dr - I don't really have a point
The majority of fansubbers still releasing stuff in xvid do so to help a large fanbase with crappy machines. It's a matter of time for h264 to truely become the standard.
And here's what the XVID encode at the same size looks like.
Do you have CoreAVC? If not, get it. It's on rapidsearch.
Your player of choice likely has a help wiki or online resource that tells you how to disable your current x.264 codec and enable CoreAVC. It really saves your processor a lot of work.
so someone else other than ayu actually took the time to encode shit?
lolwut.. my celeron m 1.7ghz laptop plays 720p@30fps just fine.
What's /a/'s opinion of niizk's encoding?
>I downloaded this yesterday. Resolution sucks too much, I can't watch it.
Hueg liek xbox.
lol, I just downloaded that too. It killed my interbutt speed for days.
Yes, that's what makes it possible to play vids upto 720p. But yeah, like I said, anything past that, the PC can't handle.
You guys should get that BTW. If you don't have it already. It's faster than VLC's or FFDshow's 264 decoder. Atleast on my PC anyway.
It's too tiny.
X_X's Yotsunoha took only 10% of my processor under FFDshow's 264 (CCCP pack).
But again, I have a 3.6gHz pentium...
Newer video cards might have hardware x.264 acceleration. I know the nVidia geforce 8000 series does, or at least the 8600 and 8800 models do. If your video card doesn't have this little booster, the entire load is on your processor, hence why people are complaining about major all-around slowdown when playing these files.
They used failsubs for Mushishi. I don't remember precisely why, but I deleted their rip.
One of the few people who know how to make a proper DVD-rip.
OP is an example of doing it fucking wrong.
because OP is a DVD-rip rite
It's not? I thought this was an OVA.
>OP is an example of doing it fucking wrong.
stop exagerating, it's fucking 87MB.
I have 2.7 GHZ and can barely play 720p files.
And it looks like shit. Who the fuck cares about an extra 100-150 MB these days?
how hot is it running? it might be throttling if its too hot and so you get shitty performance.
50°C at most when using it at 100%.
I've got a 4 year old 2ghz and it plays everything perfectly. I think people are exaggerating.
it adds up if you download a lot, especially if you don't think a series is worth keeping if it takes a lot of space, or if you're waiting for the DVDs to come out. also if you have a small screen you won't see much of a difference anyway, which is why so many people don't care about H.264 being better at compression than XviD. (though most of them are probably just plain blind)
well thats fine, dunno what to do then.
This. The only incovenience it is is when an entire series fits on one DVD EXCEPT THE LAST FUCKING EPISODE.
Has a 80 MB harddrive.
i just don't like them filling up too quick
Guess what? I went to Best Buy the other day and they were selling 500GB Western Digital internal SATA drives for $117.63. Go out, and get a fucking new hard drive.
Must be full of bloat and virus hogging your resources.
Yeah, fucking retards need to know xvid should be encoded to 172 not 175. MY AKAGI AND OURAN LAST EPISODE DOESN'T FIT ON THE SAME DVD AS THE REST CAUSE ENCODERS = STUPID.
can get external for cheaper than that
Enjoy your IDE.
why the rage? i have enough space, i just don't want to fill it up with releases that don't justify their size. i just bought 2x 400GB SATAs for ~$140 the other day btw
Huh...no. It's only mpc taking 100% of the CPU.
Western Digital sucks fyi
i don't mind ~_____~
Unless it's a Pentium 3, I find this hard to believe...
It's an Intel Celeron.
run this, then start a video and see if you get anything. dont think itd be throttling at 50c anything but who knows, celerons are shit.
1. Install a version of MPlayer (SMPlayer for example)
2. Use CoreAVC as the video codec
3. 20% CPU Usage drop
